Phone screen turning on repeadly - T-Mobile LG G2x

I am on Hellfire sand witch 1.6 Just wondering my phone will be sitting there and for no reason I am aware of it will awake or the screen will turn on and then go off over and over. At some point it will stop. It has happened while on other roms as well and on other g2x phones I have. Is there a reason why this is happening or am I doing something wrong or setting something wrong?

is it plugged in?
sometimes if your charger is not putting out the right voltage, the phone can switch between USB and AC which causes the phone to wake up for a second on some ROMs.
also, how does your power button look? (not broken, or really dirty or anything)

All looks fine and it happens when it's not charging. I'll have to keep an eye on it while charging it. The phones work fine they just do this every so often. I was not sure if It was a setting or something sence it was doing it on a couple of phones I have. Maybe it's just the nut behind the steering wheel is loose. I guess I'll figure it out sooner or later thanks for the info.

my gf's HD2 used to do the same thing after she dropped it pretty hard and it landed on the lower right hand corner

Maybe there's a magnet too close to it...
But nah I have no idea why it could be doing that other than hardware problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. The phones all work fine but I will check on if I have it near a magnet when I see it doing it again. I guess It's just one of those things.

I need a new vibration motor with mic, headphone jack and speaker.

My vibration had burned due to overclocking too much my phone was overheating and one day one of the vibration motor cable had burn.. Now i dont want to mess with the little cables and stuff like that so i just want to get the whole part. Does someone have one or know where to get it please let me know need it asap
I think that is a poor diagnosis as to why your phone is broken.
Do you keep it in a case? How many times have you dropped it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
Just a guess, an Adult store? They's got vibrators. Oh my, I crack myself up.
Well yeahh i got case on it and i have dropped it a lot of times already. I can upload one pic more where there is a black spot on a cable like its burned or something

Umm gee "insert att rep name here" I dunno whats wrong with my phone it just has no sound and dosent vibrate...
Of course after its retutned to stock unless you bought outright.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
The phone is already costumized and i think it was my fault with the vibration motor that i have accedintely burned it by overcloking it too much. Theres no problem with no speaker the ringtones work perfectly and i did returned to stock and vibration is still not working.

Lines on Screen, please help

Whenever I turn on my screen, I see lines or a fuzzy gray box flashing across my screen. They go away in less than a second, but I am afraid that my screen is broken. This also happened on my first charge, so I was wondering if the cause could be my battery which I bought on ebay (samsung 1500mah). Also, my new phone almost never connects to 4g even though my old one got full bars.
Please help, I googled my problem and came up with nothing. I still have my first phone, could I send back the same phone they sent me in the box?
Thank you.
What you see on your screen is apparently common for other charge owners myself included. Saw it mentioned as screen "static"in a thread on here somewhere which it can look like sometimes. I don't think it's been associated with any screen issues so I wouldn't trip on it too hard over it. I'll take that quirky behavior with the screen quality!

Ya, this happens to me. kind of looks like you turn on a tv. Pretty cool lol.

EThanks for the replies! I feel a lot better now that I know this is common.
Happens here too. I wouldn't worry about it.

Dropped phone in liquid

So I dropped my phone in a bowl of soup... Yes lmao! But anyways my back cover save it big time, only the top half of my phone when in, I pulled the battery off, sim card and sd card, wipe it and I checked it and both water marks are still white then I put it in a bag with rice. 24 hrs later I put the battery in, it turned on and everything works, except it was showing the headphones icon, I clean out the headphone hole again, turn it off, turn it back on and it was gone, I unroot it just incase it started to act up I could swap it out.( i have insurace) It's been a full day and no issues
OK so my question is should I root it again now or wait to see if something stops working? I think by now something should of been affected already but what do you think?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
if you have insurance and won't cost you anything to replace the phone, then use it.
Other than that, rooting or unrooting won't matter on a phone that's been dropped in water.

I'm sure he is asking about the rooting of the phone is cause trying to swap a phone with root/custom rom will not go well for him.

Sorry I guess I didn't make my question clear, what i was really asking was that my phone is working right now, but does my phone run a high risk of something going bad in the next few days or I'm just lucky and nothing broke?
Might be a dumb question but I never had any phone dropped in liquid so I'm not aware if the phone stops working right away or it takes a few days for it to go bad
Don't want to root and then something stops working and I won't be able to flash stock.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I would try to root it, after all it's dry now and everything functions.
Thanks, I wasn't sure if it takes a while for the phone to malfunction or not lol.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
My experience has been if it turns on the next day its all good for many more bowls of soup lol. Or washer and dryer like my olllld bb
Making bad decision's one at a time.
Lmao, I hope it don't happen again lol, but yea everything working good, I haven't tried hdmi output, don't have a cable and I never used it lol, so I'll keep this phone. (rooted of course lol) till some thing else goes wrong, then ill swap it out, thanks for the replies

Phone randomly goes into bootloop. Wtf?

I was on youtube listening to in dying arms and I kept getting email notifications in my status bar but when I opened my email no new emails were found. It sketched me out! I all paranoid with security and what not. Well I went to shut down my phone then reboot into recovery but it went into bootloop instead.
My phone would only go into bootloop as long as power was connected. Otherwise it was like it was completely dead(had full battery tho). I re-flashed cwmr and booted into it and restored.
I'm just going to wipe everything's and start fresh. That bugged me out!
Happen to anyone before? Anyone know a possible cause?

It happened to me once. Overheating was the culprit. I can't remember the app right now, but something I had installed was causing crazy issues. I removed it and have never had another problem.
Are you still on CM7?

Yeah I'm back to CM7. I was using CM9 but not being able use the cam corder or watch videos that were recorded on a cam corder was enough for me to go back to CM7!! CM7 randomly shuts off tho. It is a pain in my freaking butt!!!!!!!!
I might try eagles blood and see if this stops happening. Cuz I'm not beat for searching/combing through apps to see if one of them are the cause.
UPDATE: It may be a hardware issue. I was on the phone and put the person on speaker and placed the phone down and it reset. It was very lightly too. Come to think of it, anytime my phone reset it was in my pocket or somewhere I couldn't see the actual phone. So the back of the phone could have hit my thigh too hard and it could have shut down.

I'm using the New Clip mod of the Weapon Rom and have no issues right now. A lot of long time posters are still using it. Very stable. My other thought is swapping the battery at a Tmobile store. My wife's phone used to get hot and reboot when she used edmondo and the GPS. New battery fixed it. I still believe there was a bad batch of batteries with the initial launch.

This happens when I hit the back of the phone. Like if I place on the table, it will shut off. No overheating issues. Ill try a new battery first and report back here.

Fold a piece of paper a few times and put it in between your battery and the case. Could be the battery terminals losing contact briefly.

is it the capacitive buttons? do you have a really tight case on the phone by any chance?
no gunny, phones naked and has never been dropped or seen water... havent really flashed anything in the last 5-6 days... its throughout the system... even happens in twrp, no matter what rom im using.... when i get home ill try to get an official update and see what happens... but i did notice its mainly in one spot, mainly middle right of the screen... example would be in the calculator app in portrait, it keeps pressing the number 6
Weird. Hope you get an easy fix.

Maybe it doesn't get any easier than this, it felt hot so I turned my CPU freq wayyyy down... Started working right. Now I have it at normal levelsvand its fine? What the hell? Its the first hiccup this phone ever had... Certainly is weird.. wanted to add also, tried to flash roms I had, it kept saying failed.... Would it be a good idea to save my pics on computer and completely erase the sdcard?

Were you using a ROM that was OC'd, or did you have your phone overclocked on an unusually high level?
No bro... Running h8's CM10... Minimum 384, Max 1512 on demand... I tell you what though, I am at work (welder) and in south Louisiana it was 92° and 85% humidity lol. Maybe there was condensation inside? Oh well, seems all is well now... But then again, I thought the same thing when it briefly happened to me yesterday.....

OK now I'm just aggravated... I pretty much narrowed it down to the heat. As long as I was in the shop working my phone would go nuts. I would go sit in the office for a while and it would pretty much be normal... back to the shop and it goes nuts... now I'm off of work at the house, waiting to prove to my wife why I couldn't call or text today and my phone is making me look like a dumbass lol. Its working fine.... wtf phone make up your mind!!!

best way is to relock and ruu
and use stock for a while see if it happens again..
if so...go exchange lol
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
That's what I'm looking to do... but Im Trying to read up on relocking before I try first.. never done it yet and I don't know anything about adb and fast boot, much less to ruu. But what's the odds of art or HTC rejecting me because of the boot loader stating "relocked"? Or was this fixed? And also what's the odds of rerooting? Should be good as long as I ruu 1.85 I believe.. that's what I was on when I rooted
Once you unlocked you can always unlock again. I wrote a adb primer. It's a sticky in general.

Gunnyman I often wonder what would happen to my poor phone if you weren't around lol... thanks, I must have skimmed over it in a frenzy looking for tools to relock and ruu..
I've been off of work for 3 hours now and my phone hasn't had one single glitch. So I'll give it one more day to see how she acts. I have everything downloaded ready to roll if it happens again... she acts up and I'll have to knock her down a few notches

Yea... the day it was doing it really bad I pretty much kept it on the charger BC it was draining my batter like crazy. But I tried all kinds of stuff on and off the charger. Guess it has to do with the temp and the humidity..
