64gb micro SD on MT4GS? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

I was going to get a 64gb micro sd Class 6 but These devices support upto 32 gb
So could I just do 2 32gb partitions on the SD card and have the phone support both? would both partitions show up on the phone?

64 will work!!!!!

I'm pretty sure. Why are you asking in this forum?

64 GB works great in the MT4GS. In fact, if you're getting the SanDisk Mobile Ultra card (are there alternatives yet?), that's my microSD of choice. Not only do you get the space, but it is the most practically responsive of the several brand / class combinations I've tried (good sequental and random access speed, I believe).
The one bit of bad news is that you'll need to reformat the card to FAT32, so the filesystem will be less space-efficient for small files, but that is a pretty small complaint.

Hi guys! Saw this thread and made me consider buying this instead. And don't tell that it's not necessary for me since I already had 2 32gb microsd full for my phone
But my question is would this item work?
http://www.ebay.ph/itm/110877877424
I know it's the same 64gb from sandisk but I am considering the 45mb and 30mb versions. I'm afraid the other one might not be compatible with our devices so I think it's best for me to try first before purchasing. To those who already had the 64gb sdxc which ones did you buy? the 30mb or the 45mb?
I also saw a 95mb version so tell me if anyone uses this also.

Not only will it work over the specified size, it will even work at speeds matching UHS specifications. An experiment was done in the HTC Vision forum, and found that a 64 GB UHS-I card worked at full capacity and full speed.

Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate it
The size is enough for me I don't think I will be needing it's speed since mostly I just use it as storage. Not keen into HD video recording and stuff.
Let down for me is android being not capable of supporting exfat partition which limits me with a 4gb max file size.

I can't wait for this. The tech sector has a traditional pattern.
One day in our lifetime easy, we will look back at expansion memory cards measured in gigabytes the way we look back in internet speed measured at kbps.

I ended up buying the same card (but distributed from Fermont, California - as it will arrive quicker to me in the UK then if I'd purchased from Taiwan as per your ebay link.)
Also this one from the US comes with a tiny microsd/usb dongle

Play.com 16gb class 10 cards

Hi there guys,
For those that dont want to run the gauntlet of Ebay.
Here is a 16Gb class 10 PNY micr sd card for £18.
Not allowed to post links yet due to low post count but just search Micro sd on Play you will find it.
Enjoy
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/...=0&searchstring=16gb+micro+sd&urlrefer=search
considering getting one of those myself, and retiring my class 6 8gb card. it's not big enough these days.
Sweet. Good find. Thank you!

got one myself, not really class 10, and nowhere near 15mb/s

read the thread on that link, nobody is getting 10mb/s.
the card is unbranded, its labeled class 10, but test shows it is not.
I am getting 10mb/s write speeds and 23mb/s read speeds on that card.
Ill send anyone a pic of the speed test as i cant post it here as of yet.
Here is link to SDTools pic of speed test, SDTools used.

Not saying this is by all means perfect, and that it only just creaps in as a class 10, but lets face it £18 for a 16gb class 8 would still be a pretty damn good deal.

I've read the whole thread and basically you just have to be lucky with your card, it might not mess up in a few days/weeks/months time but theres a huge possibility it will, as some people reported it back in the hotukdeals thread
Got the same card. Mines branded pny even though it came in plain shrinkwrap.
Ran sdtools and get roughly 10mb write 18-20mb read. Not sure if I have a faulty one but its faster than my Samsung 8gb class 6.

After getting a replacement and it also being a unbranded one i returned it for a full refund, and bought a Joyflash one instead.
Currently testing this card out as seems to be giving me rather low performance too and also was unbranded.
Are those speeds above slow though? Seems OK to me
Your speeds seem fantastic in all honesty, just keep an eye on the card for peculiar behavior like dropping info and apps not working properly, if using APSD+.

Samsung 32GB Class 10 SDcard

So I just got my Samsung SDcard from newegg. I will admit the price was a little high ($70) but I didnt want to skimp on quality. I've read reviews on cheaper cards and they seemed to be slower than a class10 card.
Anyway formatted and installed its 29.7GB which is expected. I ran SD tools and am pretty happy with the results...

I personally only have my itunes library in my SD and the big transfer happens once...then i just let isyncr sync the 10 or so new song i put in weekly. So, is a class 10 to really worth it? Not for me, at that price, i'd put the 70$ more to get a 64gb SDXC

You have never noticed the system verifying the SD contents when you start up? It is alot faster with a class 10. Also if you play HD video or run games from the SD, you don't get the occasional lost frames and glitches like you do on Class 4. Sure you can live with it, but its not for me.

Exactly this. Reason being, you need faster write speeds to write more data, faster. (pretty obvious, lol) For typical uses like playing music or just looking through pictures, etc., a higher class card wouldn't entirely be necessary. Coming from DSLR's, I honestly refuse to have anything less than a class 10 for faster sequential shutter speeds and 1080p recording on it. Definitely always nice to have higher classes, especially since they're so CHEAP nowadays.
I bought a 32GB Samsung microSDHC card class 10 from eBay from a trusted top rated seller, for $53 free shipping.
Formatted and installed shows 29.27GB

nop...actually the initial media scanner takes maybe 2 minutes, which i dont really care about because it's not like i need to use my music at that time. Also i do have many HD video and never notices any frame lag. Again, i have a 16gb class 10, and the difference is NOT worth 50$

You can always get the microSD card out of it and insert it in something like this to get your storage work on classic USB device :
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-micr...=UTF8&qid=1352033282&sr=8-1&keywords=FCR-MRG2
Seems definitely better than adding a female microUSB to male USB adapter to this device.

Yes, there are multiple microsd to USB adapter in the market, you can find them in stores like walmart, target, or online, Amazon have many of them.
Surely its easier and cheaper to do what I did, just get an otg adapter and a usb card reader.
Cost me about £2.50 in total and works great.

Threats are targeted to different devices with differents users, no really breaking the rules. We are not looking for customer either, we want supporters. DYI is fine, I do it all the time, however some don't like the risk of damaging the device, other don't have access to the right tools or skills, like soldering irons or hot glue guns.
I really don't like the idea of it just sitting there like that. It's just asking to be broken off leaving the USB connector stuck inside the device. Would be nice if Google and/or manufacturers would get over the stupidity and just include the SD on the device...

The good thing about the Google Nexus line is no matter where you get it, it's going to be the same. Clean and carrier unlocked.
If it's cheaper to get it from T-Mo, go that route, if not get it from the Play Store. They both will be the same.

With the tmo model. I can put $40 down amd have monthly payments of $12 a month. but they only offer the 16gb model which for me is hard as my current phone, xperia play, has a 64gb card in it. Coming down to a 32 model would be much easier to transition to.
Sent from my R800at using xda premium
Why?
Why don't you get the motoX or the new G? Or just buy the 32gig off the play store and tell her it's the 16gb worked for me.
As mentioned there are no carrier versions of the Nexus 5. They are all the same sold by different people. Tmobile or even Sprint doesn't get to change anything about the device.
A Moto G? I'm thinking about getting that one for my wife because she doesn't need much and for $200 it's almost a no brainer but she has my older SGS2 now and seems just fine so i'll let her keep that for now. I was tempted to give her my Nexus 4 but yeah....
Odds are if the OP wanted a Nexus 5 he wouldn't go G, maybe X but not G. I like your idea about telling her it's X but since the woman usually handles the cash, she'll see the costs then no sex for you for a month. LOL
Yeah my wife is an accountant so she sees and analyzes everything. Love her to death but sometimes it drives me nuts. As stated before. The 32gb is my choice but the wife doesnt want to pay $400 plus up front. So the only choice is the tmo route but its the 16 only model. $43 down with monthly no interest payments of $12 a month.
Guess the compromise would be the tko route. I sure as hell domt want to end up as a dirt pile in the back yard.

While that I am sure is the reason VZ did not get the N5 this time around.... from looking around online for the N5 this is correct. But yes the Galaxy Nexus and VZ was a b!tch situation...... I knew several people who bailed on VZ after this issue.. Google Wallet anyone...

I think Google learned from that one too!
I have a gnex and that was the worst nexus experience ever.
OP, your wife did good for you. The T-Mobile version would cost more in the long run then the 32 gig Google play version.

Yes, and that was my dilemma. Why spend an extra $100 for a 16gb model for the long run when I can just pay up, which is what I prefer anyway and get the 32GB model.
Question to everyone though. I have a screen cover coming in the mail but am trying to decide on a case...
These are what I am looking at:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251368586452?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271309684697?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
If others have any other suggestions/comments on an excellent case for a great price please let me know.. or if you have the LG/Google OEM case what your thoughts are on that, although I dont want to spend $35. And yes I know you get what you pay for. Thoughts anyone? And thank you all in advance for your feedback, I appreciate it.

True, but that's also why Verizon hasn't had a Nexus anything since. They burned that bridge.
Also, I'm up in Polar Bear land, so the finer details of the US telcoms slip by me occasionally.

I had both Spigen cases. I absolutely love the look and feel of the Neo Hybrid. However I can't say the same about the Slim Armor. I know people will disagree with me about the Slim Armor, my choice would defnitely be for the Neo Hybrid. Depending on where you live, you could get them on Amazon for the same price and two-day shipping if you are an Amazon Prime customer. No need to wait for slow eBay shippers.

Memory issues

Has anyone experienced memory shortage issues on either the 16Gb model or the 32Gb model.
If so why ?
I really am interested in buying this device but I am a bit worried about not having the the slot for the external SD card.
I have only found one person that had memory shortage problems but it was only due to an enormous number (in Gbs) of songs.
I am a bit worried about the ever increasing number of Gbs that are used up by the OS, and how this will effect the available data memory over a long period of time.
Thanks for any info.

I have the 32GB one, and I still have 18.28GB free (I haven't transferred my nandroid backups yet ~5.5GB). I have all the apps I need, and no music or movies. (Spotify, and Amazon for those needs).
The weight of pure Kit-Kat is quite small, so a lot of the space is available to use versus the S4.
Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. My worries stem also from the recent S5 which sport a whooping 8Gb of OS !!! So a 16Gb device would not be worth buying without a slot. The OS footprint in the Nexus is in fact small by comparison.
Thanks again.

I have the 16 GB version. I have to transfer my nandroid backups off immediately and only keep 1 titanium backup history. I have to put my bigger games on USB stick.
I have no locally stored music or video although my streaming apps do cache
Edit. I do try to keep 3-4 GB free though.... to ensure I have enough space to download files and take backups should I need.

That is understandable, I was just reading an article about the S5 also. It's crazy that they don't move 80% of those apps to the Play Store and shrink the ROM by 3+ GB... Anyways, you're welcome! Glad I could help
O the beauty of samsung's "touchwiz" ;|
Thanks !
So substantially you're not particularly worried about having memory shortage issue ?
In hindsight would you have bought the 32Gb version?

Totally depends on the user's needs I must say. If you use your phone for entertainment purposes and play a lot of games, then the 32 GB will be your best bet.
I like keeping family, friends pics on my phone (However, I do keep a backup on my laptop), so the 16gb isn't sufficient for me. Besides that, the difference in price between the 16 and 32 gig models isn't that much.

I bought the 16GB version but also bought a Meenova OTG micoSDcard reader. It's so compact that I easily carry 32GB of extra storage around with me available for my Nexus 5 at a moments notice. Assuming you own a micoSDcard the Meenova reader only cost around $13 with shipping varying per country. I'm in Canada so the whole expenditure was $17. The Meenova can handle up to a 64GB card.

That looks toooo goood!!!
Thanks. This helps a great deal. I agree with the difference not being much, so it would make more sense to get the 32Gb version.
It' s pretty cool that there doesn't seem to much of an issue with not having an extra memory slot.

I've heard about the Meenova and it seems to be quite the "problem" (I beginning to think there isn't one) solver. Thanks for sharing. I think I'll be getting one once I order the Nexus.

Yes, it sure is!
I also came across this mini card reader, it costs just $12!! Memory card support is upto 64 gig.

I'm thinking of buying it as it will be really helpful to load stuff when we are on the go...

Of course with App data If you like games, you're going to need root to move that data to external storage
It really does look good !

OTG storage can be a hit to the battery as well. If you have the option, get the 32Gb version. $50 for fast Nand built in is worth it.
