Thunderbolt successor "Rezound"(aka Vigor) - Nov. 10th

I was about to replace my TB with a Bionic today but declined. I am now debating between the RAZR or this Rezound. Considering that the Rezound is 1.5GHz Dual-Core, that alone is worth it.
What about you guys?... At least those of you planning an upgrade. Yeah i know the Galaxy Nexus is supposed to come out soon(but no ETA yet)...

I'm on the fence between the Rezound and Bionic (EDIT: WTF was I thinking Bionic no, I meant Razr lol). I'm also thinking about waiting until early next year because of the talk of quadcore Qualcomm chips.

Is there any word on if the Vi... I mean Rezound is going to do HDMI through something such as MHL? I'm really hoping that HTC has learned their lessons from the Thunderbolt battery debacle with the Rezound as to be honest I'm not too wowed over either the RAZR or Galaxy Nexus for various reasons.

Sadly nothing on HDMI even through MHL. Hopefully something about that will come forth before the phone is released.

I have my Tbolt. It's my 2nd HTC device. I have decided I am not an HTC fan.
I am going to go for the Nexus. I had the Nexus S4G for 2 weeks but had to return bc Sprint was awful where I live. I loved the device though. I have wanted a Nexus device since the Nexus One. So I am pretty excited about it.

The only problem i have with the new Nexus is that there's no microSD support. It's going to be available in a 16GB & 32GB. On top of that price is going to be $299.99 w/ contract and they haven't said yet but im pretty sure the $299 is going to be for the 16GB model.

just remember that dual cores arent everything....so far, everyone whos had the bionic hasnt been impressed at all with it.... then again...moto fails at everything.... my 2 cents..

I could care less about dual core. I want the pure Google experience again. No ui overlays. I hate Sense. I came from the OG Droid & then 2 weeks with the Galaxy S4G. I want timely updates. Not buggy leaks, then buggy over the airs that get pulled bc the provider suddenly realizes, "Oh- you want voice mail to work?"
And I want my phone to make me awesome. My Thunderbolt can't do that for me.

The way i see it, with a dual core 1.2 / 1.5 , at least then you dont have to bother overclocking. On my Thunderbolt, unless i overclock, it gets laggy(especially multi-tasking). For instance if i use aDownloader & try and say, watch a video at the same time, the video can get jerky/go out of sync(but overclocking takes care of that). That and when you do overclock the battery drains even faster.
I have heard to that having a dual core cpu extends battery life. Just like how pop up headlights makes your car go faster.

With that Rezound, you will be stuck on a single threaded OS for at least 4-6 months.
Gingerbread on dual core is so fail it isn't funny. Sure its faster, but its nothing like what it could be.

Unless if the ROM scene pumps out some ICS ROMs for the Rezound. Given how many other phones have versions of Android that aren't out officially as of right now I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen.

What?! No sd card support? Oh man I was completely sold on this phone. Now idk. I'll wait til the Razr and Nexus come out to get a hands on feel for it. Damn it sure is a deal breaker :/

RAZR = non-removable battery + bootloader locked
Nexus = no microSD support
i'm still debating myself and would like to see both phones in action first.

I mean the non removable battery isn't such a big deal to me. The locked bootloader, don't they have a workout for this that works for like the D3 and Bionic?
As for the SD card, it's not like I take out my SD card much. I still use the SD card that came with my TB but I like the freedom of switching SD cards when one fills up. I guess it one has to have some hands on time with each device to decide. The Rezound, Razr and Galaxy Nexus all look like sweet devices tho

problem with the locked bootloader is that it may or may not get a "work around"... and depending on who's working it/how hard it is, it may happen in no time or take weeks, months, etc...
as for the non-removable battery, what if the phone freaks out and freezes up? there's supposed to be a reset option.. but there's the faint chance that the phone could lock up really bad and then you'd have to wait for the battery to drain.
and the sd card thing, i wouldn't mind getting the 32gb version of the Nexus(so long as it isn't crazy expensive) but a 16gb i'd get annoyed and have to regularly delete stuff.

There were be the same major ril issues we saw before with the Bolt.

If I'm correct the Vigor+Beats = Amaze 4G-Beats
The above phones are basically OC'd to 1.5GHz, have more INT memory, and faster data rates.

Should i switch to the Galaxy S 2?

What do you guys think should i switch from the infuse to the Galaxy S2? If i do i have to sign another 2 yrs with at&t :O + it will be $250 outta my pocket however i could sell my infuse for like $175/$200

how the hell can we tell you what you should and should not do ? if you want to move on DO IT

Have you played with one? You may not like the smaller size if you're coming from an Infuse. Also, the S2 is far from the best these days. You might want to spend the extra $50 and get the Skyrocket. It's the same size as the Infuse, it's faster and can be upgraded to ICS when the time comes.

Skyrocket is only data fast if u look into tech specs, sg2 processor actually performs faster. It is something I have considered.

I was just reading the skyrocket forums because I was curious about the LTE rollout in the Phoenix area and wanted to see what kind of speeds Phoenicians were getting. All I have to say is wow. The LTE speeds are pretty damn impressive everywhere they've rolled it out to. If I had the opportunity, I'd switch.

a friend of mine got a skyrocket for a penny i guess amazon was running some sort of promotion on android phones where if you added a line you would only be charged a penny

Just seems by everyone that sg2 is phone for hardware performance, and developer support but skyrocket I like data speeds. Just seems wiser move sg2 not skyrocket for long term, if you like customizing. If you really want either there is a promotion link for ATT to get it cheaper.

Infuse vs S2
I took advantage of that $.01 sale at Amazon and bought two s2's for my wife and daughter...added new lines to family account and all was well...I thought due to the hype surrounding the s2's, I would be jealous and find a way to swap with the wife...
10 minutes after opening the box and setting them up, I was glad I was keeping the Infuse...The screen size diff. believe it or not is VERY apparent, at least to me...
And besides the diff. asthetics, it does not come with an SD card or HDMI Mini cable...Not big deals by themselves, but I expected MUCH more from these based on what I have read...
For $.01 they certainly are a "deal", but switching from an Infuse(and IMHO down) to the s2 provides nothing but proc. speed and Gingerbread...
I am an "average user" so the faster proc'r means nothing to me by itself...I actually took all three phones and loaded the s2's with some of the same apps I use daily on my Infuse...
I will keep the Infuse...

Get the Skyrocket friend at work has it and pulls 12 to 15mbs down easy at work which is in a bad signal area, while my infuse pulls 1 to 1.5mbs if i'm lucky and here in Los Angeles Lte is not even official, plus you won't have to downgrade screen size, I'll be getting a skyrocket soon because right now I can barely watch a YouTube video at work without buffering, Lte is going live faster than anticipated.

I say screw that data speed I get 5down and 2up on infuse. I would rather sg2 over skyrocket better hardware and even screen quality is equally as good as Infuse faster CPU,gpu but still has great developer support that's where some developers probably went. That is why I consider sg2.
Really only reason I am considering a new phone is someone letting me have their new line phone I would pick out pay new line price for my tricked out infuse. Really if I say no they just going to get infuse and want me to do it to theirs.

I have had my s2 for a bit now coming from an infuse and i would have to say if screen size isn't an issue for you the make the jump! My wife has an infuse that i toy with still (running ICS MIUI) but you can see a big difference with performance. I miss the size of my infuse but I am happy with this s2 until the s3 or something better comes out!

Agree with uaguilar. I have the gs2 and wife has infuse (w/ miui, too). Performance difference is significant. Play with one for a little while and you'll see where it's noticeable. ATT has a decent trial/return policy, so check out one of them. Don't get me wrong, infuse is a great phone, but the others are good upgrades.

Do you care about sound quality through headphones? Would you miss the screen size 4.5 vs 4.3? If not go with S2
I chose the infuse over the S2 and worked out quite abit cheaper. I value the music sound the most. Ask supercurio about the S2 sound it's a dissapointment.

Who else is loving this phone?

I I bought the Galaxy s5 the day after release and kept it for about a week. Very disappointed with the insanely cheap build quality. Pushing the lock button had a slight creak at times, any sounds coming from the speaker sounded muffled and caused the whole battery door to vibrate, charging port cover wouldn't close all the way. I couldn't believe it. I decided to return it because this was unacceptable. I cannot express how much happier I am with the m8. Literally every single thing about this phone is better aside from the camera if I'm being honest. Rooted and unlocked is something I havnt had for a while now and it feels good to have back. With a custom rom and a few x posed tweaks this is a beast of a phone. I also LOVE the swipe gestures (except for when I'm wiping the screen down...) some people seem to show this phone some hatred or neglect and I simply don't see it. After having owned 3 Samsungs in a row I was looking for an out and I decided on this one (pun intended) I mainly needed something with SD card support and then this beauty came along.
Anyway sorry if that was a huge rambling mess or you didn't care for what I had to say I just felt like saying it. Let me know how you guys are liking the phone too and what your favorite parts about it are.

I have to completely agree with you.
I had an S2, S3, then an S4 before this. I loved my S3 and S4 but I was just so tired of Samsung and their ****ty touchwiz and locked bootloaders. Though I did have a Loki'd S4 I was just bored with Samsung phones. The months before the M8 came out I told myself, "man, if that thing has an external SD slot I'm getting it". And sure enough it did. I woulda got the M7 if it had one.. Anyways, I got the M8 the day after it dropped on Verizon and I thought for sure I would want to return it and get the S5. But lo' and behold, the S5 has dropped (no root yet still) and I honestly don't even want it. I got an unlock, S-OFF, custom recovery, and can flash to my hearts content.
I think Sense is such a better UI, more refined, faster, more user friendly, and more minimalist. I love my M8. Even with just Weaksauce I was much happier with my M8. Like you said, the one thing it lacks in is the camera, but it still takes plenty good shots for me. I've taken some killer pictures with it. And the front facing camera is killer. Best I have used.
All in all, I have a killer phone, that FEEL like it's 600$ price tag, has amazing speakers, software, and I can do what I want to it. I have never been happier with a device. Never thought I would say this but... I am super glad I jumped ship from Samsung. I love this phone.

Couldn't have agreed more man. Verizon Samsungs I think have seen their last days of bootloader workarounds and possibly even rooting. It's unfortunate that Samsung is now apple and everyone now believes it's the best phone ever created. I guess that's still better than people choosing the iphone. Anyway did you here about the horrible camera failure on the s5? I lold so hard when I saw that the day after I exchanged

Turned my gs5 into a drawer phone when I switched to the m8 a few days ago. I shouldn't have waited for that and should have picked up the m8 from the get go

Where did you get the Dope blue M7? That looks badass. I always coveted the Black M7s, but I never seen a blue one.

I picked it up from best buy I think it was best buy special. Its mint I need to get that up on swappa with the others in that pic. Wish the m8 would come in that blue color. This phone grew on me almost instantly well its only been 3 days and its awesome.

Yeah, sometimes I take the M8 glacial silver out of its clear rubbery case and hold its cold aluminum body in my hand and tell it "You are the One...the One I love." I brag about it to friends and especially fruit phone users who like the look of its larger screen and brushed aluminum body. It is a gorgeous piece of art and the only rival is not here yet.
The Sammysheep and the isheep are scared that they might not be cool if they dont have wha everyone else has. So hTc is probably scary since they arent familiar with the species. Thats okay I really dont mind if my device is better than everyone elses. I can live with it.

This has truly been the best android experience to date. Samsung really dropped the ball with the S5 and everything about it screams "lazy". I'm proud of HTC for making a strong comeback this year and trying hard to really improve in a lot of areas rather than marr the experience with more useless bloat. Many people I know either have or are getting the M8.
I hope HTC can get back in the black soon because having the extra competition has worked in our favor. Samsung can't just rinse and repeat and expect to have a superior product. Yup. Ran Samsung all last year and had every one of the last year's models. Can't say I regret the switch. The s4 was the last Samsung phone i owned where I could actually do something. The note 3 was locked all to hell and I couldn't stand it. Tbh I was kind of excited when I thought the Verizon s5 would actually get something.. Boy was I wrong. I only played with it at the Verizon store. Wasn't impressed.. TouchWiz is STILL laggy as ever. Sense is nice, clean and efficient. Not to mention, of course, s-off. This device is well built, sleek, fast and stays cool under pressure.
It is kind of sad though. If you haven't already, go check out the Verizon s5 section. You're bound to get a laugh or two.

First time ever on any Android handset, took it off the charger at 6 a.m. this morning. When I put it back on moments ago before heading to bed (moments from now) it was "all the way down" (not) to 56% after a full day of calls; wifi on for hours; bluetooth on for a bit streaming audio, etc. etc.
This is the phone that's really Incredible.

All this positive stuff is great. Mine is arriving on Monday and I can't wait. Coming from an S3 and many other Android devices before that.

All my friends, family and coworkers are tried of hearing about how awesome this phone is.

I was about as close as I could have come to changing carriers. Was on the phone with retention, they cut me a deal on my bill and made it possible to get the upgrade for $99 (with the Best Buy trade-in) and I didn't lose my upgrade for next month, so I stayed for another two years.

I guess we just get effed over here in the US. I'm on Verizon, not only is the phone not released yet but early unboxings on youtube show that they removed the headphones as well. On top of that they removed the Samsung browser completely, if I didn't have unlimted data and 25% discount from my job I'd leave asap.

Pretty Sweet .. I wonder how the sound quality is ?

I've heard them at the best buy stores and I don't think the sound quality was that great. I mean they go for about $149 usd so if he got them for free I'd be all over it too. That's awesome.

Samsung had stock issues, should arrive next week. Based on reviews should be on a par with headphones like Beats rather than high-end like Bose and Sennheiser.

EDIT: After talking to the stores customer service, I have got the headphones for free too! They are being shipped for free now. That's £540 for the phone, £200 RRP speaker £300 RRP headphones, can get £200 combined for the set. I think I have done well here! £150 for my old phone and accessories and I've walked away with a £190 upgrade!

A lot of people outside of China have been waiting for any news of the FDD LTE version of the MI4 to be announced. We are one step closer, it appears that it has been spotted at TENAA, which is Chinas Telecommunications Equipment Certification Service.
This means that it will most likely be available soon although, no official date just yet :good:

I can help with that too, I've looked through all of those devices before I finally settled for the Mi4. Oh and I'm not regretting that decision one bit, the screen and the battery life are enough for me to buy it again.

I'm just about to change my phone for something new. My best shot is Xiaomi Mi4. Now tricky question is: is there any alternative for that phone? My requirements are :
- around 5" screen size
- good camera with image stabilization
- internal 64 gb or SD card slot
- European LTE baseband FDD-LTE(?)

I've not cancelled the plan I've cancelled the upgrade. Reason is because i bought my n4 separate and sold my last upgrade ( sgs2 ).
Now my upgrade is due, the phones they offer me for my price plan are an upgrade to the sgs2 but not worthy of an upgrade against the n4 so i decided to lower my monthly costs and get a sim only kind of deal on a monthly rolling contract. I still get unlimited data and plenty of call and text allowance and when i get a 4g enabled phone i get free 4g included.
I also get a further discount for being a loyal long time customer
I don't think i will ever leave 3 as i have never had 1 issue with the service.
P.s i missed that last part about charging !! I think Google translate is acting up again mwah hahaha [emoji83]

Xiaomi has problems with black version, paint doesn't stick in steel frame.
