[Q] Max safe temperature - Motorola Atrix 2

Very quick question. How hot can this phone get safely. I don't mean whats gonna melt the processor, I mean what is totally safe. Also will the phone automatically shut down or slow down if it gets too hot?

[Q] Sensation getting hot in Bootloader?

Has anyone else noticed their Sensation getting hot even when in the Bootloader?
And I'm not talking about the screen or the battery (those stay cool), but the bottom part of the phone, mainly the front, on the buttons and at the bottom of the screen.
This might be part of a problem I describe here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259247) but I just wanna see what people say

I think it gets hot in bootloader due to the screen being on constantly and it being white using more energy? Plus if its plugged into to the pc aswell ti will get hot.
PS. In regards to your other thread, I had this issue at first but it has calmed down, But when using mobile data the phone gets hot sometimes in the 40s (used to be alot worse) and also playing some games it can heat up. After peaking o HTC rep they said aslong as its under 50C its safe to use.
Its a very common issue and pretty piss taking but hey, its the cpu thats heating up.

Thanks for your response mate.
The issue with the phone heating up was one I did NOT always have - it just suddenly appeared. Before that, it would only get hot while playing 3D games - otherwise, it would always stay nice & cool, or just a little warm, even when using 3G etc.
So, I don't think it's normal. I think it's a problem. Whether HTC wants to admit it is a different question.

Overheating problem

I buyed atrix2 5days ago when i use games and web for 5min the screen was overheating my phone is not rooted and using motorla rom any solu
tions please.
What do you mean
Overheating? what do you mean. was it crashing or did it just feel hot?
My experience
mine actually feel's hot when i play or in conditions of extreme usage. So if you are not getting any visible problems, don't worry. I think they also have a temp protection in case the processor might overheat.
my phone have this problem,too
Screen not responding correctly
When I have my phone plugged in it gets hot and the screen does not respond correctly. I'm not sure what the cause is but I believe it has to do with how hot the phone gets.
Is this the problem you are having? I have two Atrix 2's and both of them (one stock one using Blaze Rom) have this issue.
I had a Razr, and the screen was overheat, but Atrix 2 is never (of course playing game or surfing webs for a long time)
i have the same problem too.. i think it is because android software is downloading in background.. did you turn on background data all the time?
Background Data?
Wait are you telling me if I turn off my background data the phone won't get hot enough to interfere with the screenworking correctly?
I haven't noticed any abnormal heat on mine....wonder if the Otterbox has anything to do with that

Yes the background data enabled if i'm going to disable it then the problem will solve?
Yes it's only overheating no crashes no problem with phone
I can say that Atrix 2 is a "cool" phone, from inside to outside.

If both of them have the issue, wouldn't you think about replacing the charger? That's what is messing up your screen and probably causing it to get hot as well

First we need to know: is it getting hot when its charging or just running on battery?
I believe that most phones get pretty hot when they're charging and running something heavily processor-intensive wouldn't exactly help.
Second, I suggest you install the app Watchdog, it'll keep an eye on your processes to see if any apps are misbehaving and consuming too much of the cpu.
Third, try to turn off things that you don't need. If you're playing a game then you probably don't need wifi/bluetooth/auto-sync/etc, also make sure your brightness is set on automatic and not to the brightest setting possible.
If this doesn't help report back with more information.

I am using the stock charger; though I have not noticed the problem in Airplane mode. Nor since I'm changed to Sonya rom.

Probably an app running wild and you solved it by switching roms

My phone hit 102 degrees today. Hottest it ever got. Was playing a game for maybe a half hour. Running ATRIX blazev3 red theme overclocked at 1100mhz. Should I be worried if it continues to do this or maybe turn the clock speeds down a bit?

Phone Gets Warm

Hi all,
So my phone starts to get warm rather quickly, even from just browsing the web etc. It usually starts on the back of the phone around the camera area and then eventually more of the phone gets warm as time goes on if I am continually using it. Of course if I turn the screen back off and let it sit, it cools back down. Is this normal? Are you guys experiencing the same thing? Also, when I use the fast charger that came with the phone it also gets quite warm, regardless of whether the screen is on or not. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue specific to my phone. Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks and please let me know.

Doesn't happen to me but the phone does get warm at random times for me but not too often. Maybe there are apps running in the background?

How were you using it?
Was it charging while playing games? Or just casual usage?
I've used it while charging it shouldn't be hot. I'm using a 2.0 charger too. I've done it with a case on and off. Swap it for another.
Bad unit? Mine is definitely not getting hot.
May be bad unit I guess. Was charging and downloading stuff from play store. It went so mush hot that I couldn't hold anymore. Had to lay it on down on the couch n use. @jaypeg123

I remember reading in the AMA thread about this. The combination of charging and downloading updates seem to get the phone heated up. Anyone else want to test this out?
It's an all metal body, so it's going to be warmer than a plastic phone especially during charging and first boot (optimizing apps). The body acts as a heat sink. It should never be too hot to hold, though. That's why I was asking what temperature it got up to.
Never had this problem so far.

FedEx just dropped mine off an hour or so ago.
yeah, it does get warmer than my Nexus 5 did. but it's nothing outrageous. likely because it's so thin. I'm going to slap a case on it soon anyway.
Is the bandwidth sharing enabled by default? That is known to generate extreme heat, and is only active when charging.

I might've punctured the battery.. What do?

So I was unscrewing the back end of the phone and while unscrewing a screw my screwdriver slipped and it went straight to the battery. So now theres a dent in my battery. Question is, will this thing now explode when I turn it on? I'm kinda scared to turn it on but I really need my phone for tommorow. The dent isnt too bad, I dont think anything that shouldnt be showing is showing but still Im just asking.

Okay I got that far, is there any chance that I only damaged the circuitry, not the battery itself?
