ATTN: Android Developers Needed! [TeamDRH] - G Tablet General

Attention Android Developers!!!
Looking to help out or make some extra cash? Then we need you!!
Despite our best efforts TeamDRH has been unable to create a working webcam driver that is compatible with our kernel (2.6.39) and we are not ashamed to ask for help. TeamDRH is actively seeking an Android Developer that would be able to create a fully working driver for the webcam in our device and we are offering a $300 USD bounty to the first person to make this happen!
We believe we have all the documentation necessary for the creation of a driver however our team does not have the necessary skills to use this documentation to our advantage and we really require someone with an advanced skill set to get the heavy lifting done and we are willing to pay someone for their efforts. We are also having problems getting our microphone working as well and it would be an added bonus if this could be remedied but it is not our main focus at the moment.
If you are interested please email either myself or Fosser2 at one of the following email addresses.
fosser2 (at) teamdrh (dot) com
ch3vr0n5 (at) teamdrh (dot) com
In addition to the $300 USD we will also include any donations to our PayPal account with the note "Camera Bounty" attached to it so if you really want that camera working please feel free to donate to the cause however it of course not necessary. :-D
Donation Link
We look forward to the e-mails!!
Cheers!

Thank you
I just sent a message to the XDA Portal admins requesting they write about this on the front page. This sounds like a challenge some brilliant mind out there might be willing to attempt... especially for a sizable chunk of change like that! I set up TeamDRH's ICS Beta and I'm thoroughly impressed. The camera would just be the cherry on top
Huge thanks to ch3vr0n5 and the rest of TeamDRH! I will be sending donations your way soon, you all certainly deserve it!

No not really...m2xtreme did send an email, but I have not heard anything back. The project is very tough though...

You guys are above legendary at this point, working your way out on ICS when even a crappy gingerbread release never came. Best of luck on this btw, I know you're gonna make it

I urge those of you interested in this effort getting publicity to write to the XDA Portal and request they write about it. Come on everyone, they've been neglecting our aging gtablet in the portal, lets get them to show some love

I'm really surprised no one has stepped up. How do we write to the portal

You can suggest content for the XDA Portal here:
http://www.xda-developers.com/suggest-content/
Sorry, I should have posted that earlier. Thanks in advance to everyone who writes in. I look forward to seeing this play out. Also, it sounds like TeamDRH might be coming out with a substantial upgrade soon since they are having an artwork contest. That's purely speculation, but regardless this is very exciting time for the ol' g-tab

Here we go again :) Donation/Hacker Fund for beer and profit. AOSP thunderbolt

Hey Guys,
Here we go again. G2/nook. now TB.
Who is in for making donations to make a fully working AOSP or CM7 version of thunderbolt (mecha) with FULL LTE/3G and WIFI. Everything must work. Or bounty will not be collected and returned to people.
Rules:
1) As above. Everything must work!
Wifi/ Blue tooth / video / cam back and forth / video / full playback of video (no hacks) smooth video playback even on youtube.
You may donate as much as you want:
I have been known to do this for the community. The person/group who gets it. Can give it to charity to xda or buy beer. I really don't care.
Donation link: Removed Link [Under Moderator Review]
If people dont like this idea. Please state below and I shall remove this post or have a mod do so.
Thanks!
Reserved.
Also. Mod if you feel this needs to go to general. You may move it. Sorry if i mis-placed this.
Why are we doing this when someone is working on it already?

agreed ^^ CM is almost done, they have lte working and 3g, just finishing up on wifi, blue tooth and some others. Cyan said in his interview nightlies should start soon.
Most of that is already working in CM7, is it not? No need for a bounty imo, they will get it if its not done already.
Oh well. Lets see what people think. Sharing is caring
I don't think its a bad idea as some may, I know cyanogen's peeps are working on it but cyanogen and his team aren't the only developers out there who may wanna get in on this. I say go for it, competition is always a good thing! As long as the person or persons who release it first get the donations promised go for it. Moved to general.
Wow this why I like the Eris community better. No one asked for bounties, and everyone got along. This is ridiculous, when you bought the phone, you paid for what you got and if u want something else then wait till the devs do it at their own pleasure.

I don't like this idea and will be reviewing this thread with other mods.
If u want to donate u should look for a way too donate to slayer and his crew who r spendn a lot of their time to get this up and running for us..

Also the donations for the Nook were never for a bounty. It was to get more devices to more devs in hopes of getting something going.
Sure.. while I'm at it, I'll also donate to your "Wedding fund", Which when clicked, takes you to your "Dev Phone" fund. Geez man.. how many donation scams are you running? lmao, get a J-O-B.
inb4 Op makes $200,000/yr has 3 houses and 4 cars and I'm a loser.
Yea i'd say shut this down and donate straight to cyanogen if you want.

[DEV DONATIONS] Xtremekilla09

If it pleases the Infuse community, I too have been in contact with a Dev that as well needs to be over...Xtremekilla09. I am sure that a majority of the users who have moved over from that captivate knows his work...Firefly is the Rom that has received much praise from the captivate community and has allowed for individuality at its best...His ROM included an app that allowed for many different types of MODS that ranged from different Dialers to different battery MODS as well as different themes..The app allowed for direct download of mods straight to the phone...his work includes
Xtreme Dialer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949972
FireFly [ROM]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914284
Mosaic 2.3.3[ROM]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061203
as well as many team projects because he is a part of Team Phoenix
Because of his trusted work I believe he would make a great addition to the community for stable and enhanced ROMS
If the community agrees i will have a link up soon for his donation
I am a huge fan of Firefly on the captivate, although I'm currently running cm7 nightly on it.
There is beginning to be some interest in developing for the Infuse, mine is charging now so I'm posting with captivate.
Anyway, I think it's a great idea to get one in extremekillas hands there is another post about funding the developers with a phone. I will be donating when I get my paypal account password reset. I forgot it. It seems though one phone may be not enough. There are a lot of developers that want one. So I propose we buy two and let the devs pass them around. If you've flashed a rom. Donate. Two phones would be easypeasy if everyone helped

[Q] [INTEREST] Okay... it's Bounty/Reward Time for ICS

I jumped from the Vibrant to the Infuse, and I've noticed development here is a little on the anemic side. I've seen a few people discuss starting a bounty/reward for an Ice Cream Sandwich port and wanted to see if anyone else was down or interested.
If it's just me then I'll be quiet and mods can delete this thread.
Update: Please try to make reference to +1 or "Yes I'd contribute to an ICS Port" if you want this to happen. Finding developers is easy enough if we have the numbers and support from the community.
I will be content with an official GB at this point. ICS would be a great bonus but only if HDMI and Bluetooth work.

We did like a fundraiser to get devs phones. One didn't work with kernels, one did a **** ton of work but got bored with it, one posted sources on git hub but never showed up on the forum and one posted work that he did without a phone till he actually one and vanished.
If we put up,money the bounty is the way to go because we can put it up expecting only one piece of work and they can,get the money when it is complete.
I would like to see if someone can pm netarchy and razor950 and see if they still have the donated infuses, if they are interested, and if not, would they pass the phone along to someone who is.

Just pissed myself laughing at what you wrote. I sent one PM -- if anyone has any contact information start throwing it up or recommendations of people to contact.
I am working on building an ICS AOSP rom. It is slow going though as I've had other life issues going on. I bought a nexus 4g and just got ICS AOSP built and running on it yesterday as a first step just to help me with learning how everything fits together.
I'm just doing this for fun to learn how Android works, so I don't really expect fast progress. I do own two Infuses so I'm covered there. I do have to admit the possibility of a bounty would encourage me to move faster
I'll be spending a lot more time over the next few days working on ICS. I've got a kernel in the works, hopefully I can finish it in the next day or two and test it out.
That's good to hear fellas. Take your time, we Infuse owners know how to wait for something. (i.e. Official Gingerbread) Lol

To netarchy's credit - he did talk on IRC with us, and saved me a TON of time in terms of Daily Driver development. He has never had a big forum presence - just look at the Ninphetamine thread, he was a major contributor to that kernel but only posted on the thread 11 times over its 2,900+ post life. Hacre (aka Ninpo) always did the release engineering portion of the work.
He got sick after QuakeCon which put him behind, and then real life stuff came up. It was disappointing, but at least we got some pretty good stuff out of his donated device even if it is not obvious to most users.
I'm going to try and shoot him a message (I don't think he checks XDA PMs any more, but I have other ways of getting in touch with him) to see if he is willing to give the device to a Cappy or Nexus kernel dev who wants to upgrade. (I would prefer if the device goes to someone with more time than I have to focus on it.)
razor950's device donation was unfortunate - he has a long history of saying "I'm helping you guys but don't have a device!" and then disappearing immediately after he receives it without a word. You have, IMO, no hope whatsoever of getting anything from him.

That is the development page for the reference Tegra 250 kit, and it's been around for a long time.

This looks legit, it was posted a couple days ago, read this:
http://developer.nvidia.com/content/android-40-ics-os-images-tegra-android-available
It includes this:
"Tegra Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) OS Image for Ventana"
The Tegra 2 "Ventana" development kit is targeted at developers creating software for Android 2.2 "Froyo" and above.
Hence, the "Tegra" it is talking about is Tegra 2

I agree. I mean realistically I'm sure the devs will be the first to know when source or drivers get released, but but don't squash a guy for being enthusiastic and trying to be helpful.
First, I would like to apologize for lowering to a level I have tried to remove from these forums. I have been in this game quite awhile and I've learned one thing for sure, being polite and helpful get the best results. I come originally from the lowly Huawei ascend and I'll tell you, that phone has a great community and still sees support and it hit eol more than 6 months ago. We as a group decided our own fate when WE pushed our devs to lock our ICS thread. This is our device and our forums and we are responsible for building a sense of community. As it is now, I cringe to check my own threads because I know they will be bloodgened with haters and "you're wrong, I'm right ". We should all try to encourage one another and promote how awesome our device is, which brings me to this... Why use these forums to bash the g2x? All the complaining and whining is why t-Mobile bailed out. I am a collision tech for highline vehicles, do you have any idea how much service a Ferrari requires to keep it running? I seriously doubt Enzo Ferrari endured customers calling to tell him what a pos his cars are(I know he's dead) Lastly, I happen to be a successful writer for another website, I happen to be a weath of knowledge with a lot of connections. I have been been working my butt off to help a certain group of devs get a certain app working on our device, all I'll say is those of us that are flashing addicts will appreciate this app. I get things done through kindness and support. I would love to see that sense of community here, lets face it, we ALL use these forums. Thank you so much all devs that have stuck it out with us, our device would be worthless without you, sincerely, artifintel.

Very well said. Although I don't think the "you're wrong I'm right" has a lot to do with the problem. I think the problem goes a little deeper then that.
I feel the problem lies more upon the greed of many users who for some reason think devs/themers owe them something. Developers and themers do this because we like to in our own freetime. We like seeing the page views, downloads, thanks, and constructive criticism that push us to go a step further.
I will give an example of how many of us that make releases look at things. And use my personal releases as reference.
My precision theme for all devices I own and some I don't own has about 6k downloads. Precision for cm7 has about 900. Icecreamcomb has a little over 3k. Weapon new clip has about 400. And a few thousand for all my wallpapers, boot animations, and other images I have created. So apparently a lot of people use my work which is what I hope for upon releasing, seeing as I want people to enjoy it as much as I do.
Look at my thanks meter. I have 210 thanks. So that tells me that out of the 10k+ people using my work only 210 (2%?) where grateful enough to take the liberty to click a button and show appreciation for my hours and hours of hard work. But hey that's fine at least some people do appreciate it and many more use it.
However there are always those that do nothing but troll and complain that drives everyone away. It is sad when it gets to the point that people stop developing for a device because of users. I find it quite astounding the nerve of some people.

[BOUNTY] opportunity?

I'm wondering if our community would be willing and trustworthy enough to put forth a committee that would accept and seek donations for further development for phone and the Android community as a whole.
A couple things off the top of my head:
- stable 4.0 ROM
- modded mount points for mnt/sdcard and mnt/external_sdcard
- modded shortcuts for off screen buttons (volume + = skip song, power = take photo in camera mode)
The committee would take the communities advice and put forth bounties for certain Dev work/features. This would not only speed our phones development but if executed correctly could help our community grow. It would have to be decided if we would stay or commit to xda exclusively, work among many threads, or a combination of the two and produce our own website. Obviously this would mainly be about budgeting and being responsible.
Feel free to improvise on this idea.
Feel free to PM me if you can be of help - such as development skills, internet programming, spare phone etc.,
what you are explaining is a development team. they exist. but will include the features they want or ask for suggestions if they choose to do so.
learn how to develop. (tons of guides on xda, use search). talk to other developers, get to be friends with them, and work together on something... and bam!, you got what you wanted.
No, you didn't grasp what I meant. The point of this group would to be seek as
Many donations from the community together, to bring Dev groups together, or to make one universal group.
I think the main problem with this phone is the lack of support from Samsung. Miss having a LG now...
On a side note I have been working on developing. Just not sure to continue with java for my apps or get into cooking roms.

Well, we have already donated two phones to devs and I don't think I would be willing at this point to donate anymore. Especially since, as mentioned, several people are already joining forces to start learning to develop. I really don't think donations are necessary as most devs donate their time to begin with.
Samsung support seems better than Motorola. At least we have an open bootloader!
