[Q] TF101 entering NvFlash recovery mode - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Help needed.
I have a TF101 and I was reading up on how to root my device. So this is what I did
I turned off my device, and then pressed volume up + power, and my tablet went into APX mode.
Then, I tried to use NvFlash. What I did was executing the download.bat file, it ran the script, and then my TF101 is stucked at "Entering NvFlash recovery mode"
I have tried searching around on how to fix this but to no avail.
Please please help me
Thanks
Sean

Link to the root kit you used.
And why didn't you just use vipermod?

I was reading this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494230
And it says use NvFlash to recover roms
And from there, I used this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123429
And followed these instructions
To use it you must enter APX mode on your TF101. This is tricky and confuses many users. The procedure is;
1. Press and hold volume UP and POWER buttons at the same time (it doesn't matter if the TF101 is on or off, if it is on, simply wait until it shuts off before proceding).
2. HOLD these buttons for approximately SIX SECONDS.
3. Plug TF101 into PC and listen for it to chime that it has detected it, it should load drivers and device will be listed in Right Cick>Computer/Properties/Device Manager/USB Universal Serial Bus Controller (or similar) as NVIDIA, not as ASUS.
4. If it does not, power on the TF and try again until it does.
NOTE: This is the only way to know if it is in APX mode as the screen remains powered off completely.
Once in APX mode now you can use NVFlash tool, place the system, boot, and recovery .img files into the root of the folder you extract NVFlash into and execute the download.bat file. If at any point the flash fails, this likely means you are SBK2.

I thought I would need to use NvFlash first, then get ADB running, and then only use ViperMod

You have a sbk1 tf right?

Correct,
SBK1 TF

I got my TF101 to boot up again by referring to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573835
Okay so to root it, I should go straight away to ViperMod in ABK mode?
So I can avoid NvFlash?

If you are on 8.6.x.19 razor claw would be the easiest route, Otherwise viper mod will work. I have not used viper mod so you might want to read up on it first.

Correct just use ViperMod (option 1), not sure what ABK is but just turn your tf on like normal.

[Q] Need HELP!

Ok,so im in desperation mode here with my Bricked TF101.. i did post a similar problem on here a while ago and thought i had got it fixed, but as it turns out i don't and am in need of as Much help as anyone can give me please.. :/
..
ok so here it goes..
My TF is bricked, and iv'e tried just about everything (NVflash) and STILL can't get my TF to boot normally without Cold booting every-single-time .. its tiring and stressful .. My PC wont even recognize it when i plug it in via USB to try the NVflash method (i have a B40).. it freezes at the "asus" logo..
HOWEVER,i CAN cold boot like i said but Holding the Volume+ button along with the Power button doesn't work on my TF,no sound,no notihng.. Also, when i use "power+volume down" method, pressing Valume up wont work,i have to let it go to cold boot options..
ANY help is much appreciated and i still love my asus tranny enough to give it another shot.. thanks alot -
Asus logo? If you're doing a recovery through NVFlash then you shouldn't be seeing the Asus logo. When you enter APX mode, the screen should be off the whole time (to the best of recollection). The only way that you can really tell that it's on is when you plug it in and go to Device Manager and see it under USB Controllers.

Do not know whether your tab is rooted or not. If rooted, you can try reboot by software. For example, you can try:
1. ROM ToolBox or
2. Tasker's Mis/Reboot action or
3. run terminal emulator and do the following:
su
echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0
exit
reboot
It sound to me that it is better to see if you can nvflash it with stock rom and then return it to asus for repair......
when your tablet boots, what version is it on? is it root? does cmw still work?
try install recovery installer of gnufabio as app in your tablet
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
if your tablet boots, can you connect it to your pc, disable asys sync and splashtop and see if you can connect with "adb devices" see if it reacts.
Did you install APX driver? When in APX mode to use nvflash the screen on the TF will be black and nothing else.
VOL UP + Power put you in APX mode.
even going through all the instructions of NVflash i still didnt even get a beep on my TF or my PC didnt even recognize it.. the asus logo appears and freezes if i just try turning it on..

How do i go about installing the APX driver?.. do i install it into my TF or my pc?,cuz i have already the NVflash files on my laptop,is it included?.
..i have tried Running it according to the NVflash instructions and nothing happens,no APX driver found in my Device controllers settings..
look in the development section for Brk root toolkit v7.1, download and installed it on your pc.
in this app there is an option to install the usb APX drivers.....
if this application works, it hopefully is also able to place cwm on your system, just try it....
hope this is helpfull.....

[Q] Factory settings to sell?

Sorry I'm typing this on a phone. I want to sell my transformer. What is the best way to clear my Rona and go back to pure factory settings? Thanks!

The only problem is that I'm still on a beta rom from when ICS just came out. I'm on revolver it looks like. My Clockworkmod is also broken because I had a manual install, created by Roach I believe, and I then installed the one from the clockworkmod app before reading on xda not to. The tablet does not pick up that it is plugged into my computer, but it works with a wall charger. My current version of clockworkmod also won't let me update roms for some odd reason....
What would be the best way to get to a rom that will allow me to use my tablet with my computer so that I can run nvflash and restore the device to factory settings?
Thanks.

You just need to put your tablet into apx mode to flash to stock.
To do that power off the tablet
Plug the usb cable in
press and hold the power and vol up keys for about 5 seconds.
If you are on windows you should hear a notification sound.
There are a few tools you can use, like the poster above suggested
Easy Flash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
-or-
Brk's root toolkit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688447
They both essentially do the same thing but i prefer the brks toolkit for the layout.

The brks toolkit will probably more suit you, but I do have to agree, follow the above and install the latest ICS rom direct from asus, and you should be good as gold.
Did I mention that CWM auto boots up? The only way to get to android is to press power + vol up at boot up, let it load past cwm and then cold boot linux.
So I think whenever I try to get apx mode or whatever, it's trying to get into android, but it can't.
Can anyone help me? Sorry...
Okay so you're running linux with dual boot? Which method did you use to install it? Franks tools/Olife or the pseudo dual boot method.
Most threads like that will have info on going back to stock.
try power button and vol down.
otherwise when in recovery just try holding down power and vol up for a while 30 seconds plus (while plugged into a pc)
See if it will kick you into apx mode.

No, I didn't. I have to do "cold boot linux" which brings me into android.
I try to run adb and it cannot find the device, so I cannot do anything. I can boot into android, but I cannot wipe or change roms due to this cwm being broken.
Which method did you use to install it? Can you be more specific about what exactly is on your tablet right now?
Is your USB cable good? Can you sync from within a computer?
Did you install the apx drivers from windows?
I have yet to see a device that does not enter apx mode. When mine was looping in CWM only, this is the method I used to fix it. Unless your USB cable is damaged or you don't have the drivers installed... I "unbricked" 4 devices using apx without any issues.
As fauxsoul said, please provide install method and step by step of what you're doing.

[Q] Bricked my pad

Hi, I think I bricked my pad. Only thing I can access is CWM.
What I did was to install ubuntu tablet version and my tablet started to show black screen but do nothing else.
Then I managed to get into CWM by volume down and power and then volume up.
Now,I installed one of those roms at here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112527
and my tab freezes at the startup screen where it says Eee Pad Asus.
How can I recover from here? volume up+power( for ASX) does not work too!
Tried one of the unbricking methods yet ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681155
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
Why do you think APX mode is not working?
Long press power for about 30 seconds to make sure the tablet is off, then try APX mode again, make sure it is plugged into the USB PC when you power it off and when you try APX so you know when it has connected by the USB connect sound
Does adb work? and in another 'help I'm bricked!' thread a few threads down in Q&A I posted a total NvFlash use guide. Try my PERI tool, then Easyflasher, and if neither work then find my other post and follow that.
Detection posted links above me^^

[Q] How to unbrick TF300T in APX mode

TF300T was running CM 10.2 with TWRP recovery before it was bricked. While installing CM 11, I installed CWM recovery over TWRP for the installation to be successful but that's when the tablet got bricked. The tablet is unlocked and when powered on it's stuck on the "ASUS logo" in the center and "the device is unlocked" in the top left corner.
The tablet won't boot into fastboot or adb either, but it's detected by the computer (Windows 8.1 Pro x64) in APX mode. I do not have NVFlash back up, so can't use NVFlash either.
I have removed the back cover, unplugged the battery and still no go. I have drained the battery completely a couple of times, still no go. Also, I have followed the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034866 ([GUIDE] How to enter APX mode or Bootloader menu) which helped me get into the APX mode, but no go for the bootlooader menu.
Moreover, I also followed the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44244313&postcount=12, but still no go.
While searching, I can across this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2PMJcAKSe0 but it's only for ASUS TF101. Can someone please create the same program but for TF300T or is there any other way to unbrick the tablet in APX mode?

In order to unbrick in APX mode, you need to have made NvFlash Backups prior to bricking. That is the only way to get into APX mode. The blank screen you get while pressing vol up means that the tablet is ready to enter, not that it has entered. If you made the bin.blob backuo, you can look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47903957&postcount=2. Otherwise, APX mode will not serve you any good.

As I mentioned in my first post, I do not have NvFlash backup. However, I am able to get into APX mode and the computer detects the tablet in APX mode. Moreover, the tablet is shown in "Devices and Printers" option in Control Panel on the computer as "Asus APX" or something similar to that name.
I hope there is a way to unbrick the tablet in APX mode without NvFlash backup, as someone created something on those lines in the youtube video I posted in my first post. Any help from any developers or members would be awesome. Thank you.

The easy flasher from the first post requires you to use the blob.bin extracted from the tf101, so it is the same concept. APX mode, as of now, will only be useful if you made those backups.

Gotcha. I do have the blob file, but it's from WW_epad-user-10.6.1.15.3.
Hopefully, someone can come up with a solution or a fix for such an issue. Will be waiting.
I have the same problem! there are no solution? I don't have backup

[Q] How to set zip files on SDcard

I have a problem with my TF101. What hav i done? I was trying to update my tablet to 4.3. I use CWM Recovery v6.0.1.4 this programm can only update from SDCard but i have download the update software on a MicroSD. After i downloaded the neccesary files on the MicroSD card i have erased all files from my tablet. I thouth that i could update from the MicroSD card. But CWM recovery only can update from the intern SDCard.
Now i can't put any software on te tablet. I have tryed to connect the tablet at the computer but the computer doesn't recognise the tablet. I have tryed it with the USB/power cable and also with USB/USB and a keyboard.
Can someone tell me more??????
You should use TWRP Recovery for JellyBean ROMs, CWM will brick your TF
You should be able to de-brick and flash TWRP using Easyflasher
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012
It still doesn't work
I hav tryed to use easyflasher and put US_epad-user-9.2.1.17.zip in the asusupdate directory.
Because my serial number start with B70 i have tryed it with both options.
Both times i think that the tablet and the PC are not connected. When i look i see that the driver (universal Naked drive 0.72) is active.
When i select OK in the APX screen the CMD screen is active and tells me:
Header size: 60 at the end it is extracting BLOB. When it's done Easyflasher is Done, but on my TF1010 i nothing changed.
On the TF101 is have still CWM Recovery v6.0.1.4 on the screen. My tf101 is not responding.
I still think that the PC and the TF101 are not conected, what do i wrong?
When i push the on/off button and the vol_down button and then the vol_up_the TF101 comes in the CWM recovery v6.0.1.4 screen.
When i push the on/off button and the vol_down and they the vol_down i come in the Wiping screen, then i have the possibillaty to push vol_up (excecute wiping) or vol_down (cancel wiping).
When i push the on/off button and the vol_up button the TF101 comes in the EEE PAd mode from ASUS.
I have tryed several option, but still the TF101 isn't changed.
When i push the on/off button en restart the tf101 the pc respons with a ping.
I do something wrong, but i don't know what. I have also checked youtube and used the film from Unbrick Asus transformer TF101 with EasyFlasher windows 8 revised fron dnagtalon.
Putting a stock ROM in Easyflasher will just flash it back to stock
You want to select the TWRP option and probably SBK2
Some B7Os are SBK1, but I think most are SBK2
Tablet needs to be in APX Mode (Volume Up & Power) nothing will show on the screen, only USB connect sound will show the tablet is in APX mode
