Can anyone tell me where the water damage indicators on the sensation would be? im buying a used one so I want to make sure there is no water damage.
In the slot where the battery goes, there's a round white sticker. If it turns red, there's water damage.
There's one or two inside too.
One on battery one on phone in battery bay both are white if good

Is there any other indicator for water damage besides the one on the battery? My phone got wet. It was in a plastic baggie so it only got barely wet, but enough so that it's not working and the battery indicator is red. Thinking about using a friends battery and seeing if I can get it warrantied if that's the only visible indication.

I guess you can watch this video to see if there are indicators for water inside the phone. Not sure if the inspire 4g is exactly the same as far as location for the indicators. HTC Desire HD is essentially the same phone.

My phone took a swim with me in a pool when I got pushed in. I immediately took it out of my pocket and handed it off to a person standing by. They disasembled it had it sit out in the sun to dry. Unfortunately, it could not be saved. It must have short circuited as soon as it hit the water. Thankfully, I had insurance on it. When I called the 800 number to file a claim, I told then it sustained water damage. They never asked me to look at any indicators. They took my word for it and processed my claim. But it may be a different procedure for warranty.

Thanks for that video link. I didn't see anything conspicuous that looked like an indicator. I guess I'll just have to try it and see.
Well I powered the phone up yesterday after letting it sit in a bag of rice for 24 hours. It powered up and went to the CM7 boot animation but I saw that there was water under the screen so I pulled the battery. Letting it sit for a few more days in the rice, in my truck so it gets nice and toasty and hopefully the water will evaporate.

Try to avoid direct sunlight to the LCD screen for a long period of time. The suns UV rays can damage it over time. Just a heads up..
I have read in the past with iPhone's sustaining water damage that people would soak it in rubbing alcohol to remove water, and replace the battery, and have it working fine, not sure on the credibility of this but maybe something you should look into?
Also, a few years ago I had an LG flip phone that was in my pocket during an unplanned swim(got pushed in by a drunk friend who thought I had changed) the phone was dead for a long time, but about a month later it booted up fine and worked perfectly for another year, after a year the only remnants of water damage was a speaker that was starting to blow

Well you shouldn't condone the whole thread then... The very purpose of it is to get the phone warrantied even though it's been gotten wet...

If it doesn't dry out I may try that. Makes me miss my old Nextel phone though. I dropped that thing in a flag pond twice and it never missed a beat lol.

Good to know!
I know this is old but I had to find the liquid damage indicator for an Inspire today.
To find the indicator on the Inspire you must remove the bottom panel where your SD and Sim are located. Then under the FC and Bluetooth logo and under the plastic there is a square -- that square is the liquid damage indicator.
Unfortunetly you can not bleach it without removing the void stickers and using a mini star hex screwdriver and taking the phone apart.
If this helps thank me please
I suppose no one would know if taking the back off the atrix would void it's warranty? I don't see any warranty void stickers on any screws. Hopefully there isn't screws under the sticker under the battery.
By the way the bleach doesn't seem to work at all on these new phones. Unless I'm doing something wrong? I don't condone this either just a thought.. any feedback?
I put about 10 drops in total after each drop sitting in the sun drying for 10 minutes each time. Didn't change it at all.
I got the tb on 3-28-11. From day 1 it has been in a protective case and has a screen cover. Today I took it out of the case and got in the phone for the SD card. When I pulled the battery out I noticed a white sticker on the battery with small d'a thru it. Then to the left while looking on the back on the left side I see a small black sticker with a white word saying void.
My question is does this mean it has water damage? I'm not sure how that's possible because I have kept it excellent condition. I have not once had the phone near water and pretty much treated this phone like gold.
Am I just reading it wrong or is there damage? I have not had any problems with the phone but I'm concerned.

Did you buy it from Verizon or best buy?
I'm pretty sure the void sticker is covering a screw that must be removed to open the case. Hence if you open the case this void sticker will be gone and Verizon won't honor your warranty.
Edit: there should be a white sticker with a red dot or line that will bleed and turn pinkish if there is water damage

When I worked selling phones we used to use stickers like that to tell if there was water damage and sometimes they would be activated inadvertantly by customers who would take their phones into the bathroom, close the door, not have a window or fan on, and take a very hot, steamy shower. Mind you though, these were POS flip/candybar phones at the time, nothing as sophisticated as a Thunderbolt.
I bought the phone from a Verizon store in fenton Missouri. I am 99% sure it was a corporate store. I searched the back of the phone and there is no other sticker. The only one seen was on the battery.
As far as the steam in the shower the phone has not entered the bathroom once with me. I know what the white sticker would look like cause I've seen it on the back of other phones I had but not this one.
This is puzzling me and I don't want an issue exchanging this phone out in the future I have a true malfunctioning issue.
Hmm usually the sticker turns red on the battery when activated by water the void sticker is covering a screw to get to it you must tear this sticker showing you have tamper with the phone. In my opinion the phone should be fine you can buy a new battery if your worried.

This is true. The sticker you see is for unauthorized disassembly.
There is another indicator for water.
Kk just double checking. I've had great phones in the past but this is the first time I spent this much money on a phone. Maybe I'm just being paranoid just wanna double check just in case. But other than that I love this phone.
U don't have water damage. That's how the strickers look on the TB. The comment about the void sticker is right. Verizon uses that to make sure the casing of the phone wasn't opened.

This is the easiest void sticker though I've seen to remove its not recessed like most. If you ever need to get into the phone the sticker is easily removed with a safety pin and care and replaced just as easy.

This is just me taking a guess, but they're usually in the headphone jack. I could be way off though on the Infuse, haha.

Take the back cover off and you will see a small circular hole to the right of your SIM card. This should be white if it hasn't had any water damage. It will turn red if it does have water damage.
They have some internally too... the most obvious one is the white circle in the back of the phone above the battery. Talking about battery the batterys usually have the sticker too.

I accidentally spilled a small drop of alcohol at the barcode near the indicator when I was cleaning the camera lens with it, and the indicator soaked a little bit and have turned red around the corner of the sticker. Is the warranty void?
Yes

Yep you're SOL with that.
It doesn't matter, warranty still void.

Not sure when I was with sprint and had an evo my indicator was red but the tech said since he broke down the phone and saw no signs of water damage I'm good and they sent me a new phone. Now that could just be good luck but never know

Hi,
recently I got my Nexus S washed during a big storm and it started malfunctioning.
There is a water damage indicator under the battery contacts that was white with red/pink crosses on it before the storm and now it got white.
My question is, is this the right behavior? I searched the forums and other sites and many users are reporting exactly opposite, that it was white before the water damage and after it it turned red. This would be also supported by iFixit's teardown of the Nexus S, which features an image of a disassembled Nexus S with a white water damage indicator:
http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/kpCFHLEYQK6MIuXO.huge
So, does anybody know, how should the water damage indicators look like?
Thanks in advance,
FrantiĊĦek Nesveda
That is odd... my indicator is white and my phone isn't even 3 months old
if it was water damaged ... those red crosses should have appeared after
my i9023 (Vodafone Australia) is white with crosses (no water damage)
odd...
neither of mine have an indicator
stuck there [NS4G]
there is a little white panel
beside the contacts ON THE BATTERY....
nothing visible on the phone in the battery compartment
the first one i got is my contract phone
new from sprint
fwiw
I have disassembled it and found out that the inner indicator is white with crosses. I'm fairly confident the water didn't get to this inner indicator, which means non-damaged is white with crosses and damaged is white without crosses.
Anyway, as each indicator has a different image / pattern, it is obvious some water damage happened with the phone and the warranty is void.
By the way, the difference can be in our models, the i9023 could have different indicators than the i9020 or the NS4G.
If you could post the info about your indicators and the model you have, it would be certainly helpful.
My model is i9023 and the indicators are supposedly white with crosses before water damage and white without crosses after water damage.

So does the NS4G have a water damage indicator on the inside? Like would someone have to take the phone apart and remove the screws to see?
