If anyone is interested in getting live video working with MLB At Bat 2012 on their Inspire 4G, this worked for me.
ROM: Absolution 4.7
Use the Absolution Tools to change to "Desire HD Branding" (Settings->Absolution->Aboslution Tools->Extras).
Make sure you DO NOT UPDATE Flash Player. You need to keep with the Flash Player 10.2.156.12 that comes with Absolution or you will only get audio and a black screen.
Sometimes it never starts the video. Just choose the other feed if this happens, or go out and go back in.
I think the biggest thing here is the Desire HD branding as the Desire HD is officially supported while the Inspire 4G is not. I don't know if that's AT&T being d**ks or what.

Good fix man! Not all of these steps though apply to every rom though so I would suggest you post this in the Q&A for Abso so that everyone who uses it can search that thread and see this fix if they encounter this issue. Good find though man!!
I have found this also works with the latest version IceColdSandwich. Don't install Inpiremod (I haven't found I needed it).
So far, I've only tried it with the version of Flash mentioned above in IceColdSandwich.
No problem using MIUI
AT&T is pretty stupid about At Bat though. Like last year when, just before the playoffs started, At Bat became incompatible with my Inspire. Perfect timing.
I've gotten this to work in Android Revolution 6.3.3 and with the AOSPX ICS ROM as well. Install as usual, then use Root Explorer or similar to edit the /system/build.prop file. Change Inspire 4G in there to Desire HD. Save and reboot. I would guess that this will work on most Inspire ROMs.

I am not trying a fake GPS move. I haven't even left home. I'm just using a laptop.
Is this a recent problem? I've tried resetting my cable modem and router to no avail.
Any possible fixes welcome.
Thanks!

Hows the experience on the Inspire? Any issues?
Just wanted to find out if its worth going through the process. It seems a little more involving than other rom installations.
Works great. Sound sucks. I missed the nicer camera app so I switched back to stock rooted oc
Ill hold off for now then till the sound is fixed. Thanks
The tinny sound may be fixed by Turbonium if his thread is right. I will be testing it tomorrow.
Other than that I love it.

There is nothing like CM. Smoother than anything and fast. I just applied the sound fix and its as close to stock sound as I can remember. I forsee that fix being cooked into all Inspire kernels moving forward.
Which version would be the best to use? I think theres like 2 or 3 plus the nightlies?
I'm using the nightly #7 and it rocks, though there is no support on nightlies (can't file bugs), they seem to be as reliable as a stable build. If this doesn't convince you, RC 1 is also available which works just as good. BTW sound has been fixed here, I just tried it and it works as stated. The only thing I miss from a Sense based ROM is the Connected Media app to be able to watch videos on my HDTV and the Camera app, but I can live with CM7 without those apps.
I'm using RC1 and it's amazing.

I got the buggered cwm from another rom and almost didn't bother fixing it to get cm7.
glad I did. After flashing the latest nightly and the sound fix this is with out a doubt the best rom I've used and in general the best android platform I've used. Snappy, smooth, and as a galaxy s defector GPS and everything else simply works. Hard to believe this is an unfinished rom as its still in RC status. The guys building this thing obviously know wtf they are doing.
I recommended any one who has an inspire flash this ROM.
Sent from Inspire 4g CM7 nightly 8.
I second this. I have no clue as to why it would be called RC if it feels like premium quality software.
I flashed it a couple hours ago.Im gonna give it more time but I really want to go back to Coredroid. It feels about the same on the speed and smooth factor but without the sense I kinda feel like I was back on my captivate.Sense has me sold I think.
I see a lot of posts here about CM 7, so are people just flashing CM 7 that's for the Desire HD or is it one specifically for the Inspire? Just wondering because I ordered an Atrix and I don't see as much development going on for it when compared to the development for the Inspire. But maybe that has to do with the locked boatloader. I'm going to test it and out for a day or two and if it's not up to my standards, I'm going to exchange it for the Inspire.

The Desire HD one, I am using Nightly 8 with TurboniumX's audio fix. Works like a champ.

search "twonky mobile" in the market place. It will let you beam stuff from your phone to the a dlna\upnp tv or other device (ps3\xbox etc).
Just got my Inspire 4G. Tonight I gained root access (S-Off) using Bobby323's method (much thanks). My question is, whats next? Maybe I am just a little new to the Android scene. (switched from the iPhone)
start going through the rom threads and find the one you like

Yup your in the playing phase... go try everything til you find one you like. everyone is different and will tell u x rom is this or that. only you can decide what works for you.. plus read, read and oh read some more... etc..
I started off with the Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 (stable release) so far so good except my Market is MIA.

did you bother to flash the gapps??
Just did and got all the Google apps! So far I am really enjoying this over the iPhone. Hopefully I will keep finding cool apps etc.. that will keep me interested!
I started with CM7 stable as well and really liked it. Once you get more comfortable you should definitely give Nightly a shot.
I agree 100%. This is my first go into modifying any kind of phone or CPU for that matter.
You should flash the google apps. And there is one important thing to remember about switching from Inspire Stock to cyanogen, There is no HTC Sense (and if you like music no SRS Enhancement). If you like HTC's (Stock) widgets and User Interface you should probably stick to a Sense Rom. Cyanogen is not a sense rom.
There's SRS enhancement for CM7. At least in some programs. I can use it in PowerAMP.
I use androids native music player. I didn't know Power Amp had it. EDIT: I downloaded it and the DHD effects in Power Amp don't work in cyanogen (at least on my phone)
I am still trying to figure out how to put my music onto the phone. I am assuming I can just put the files into the SD?

pretty sure in order for it to show up you have to flash the inspire audio patch.....

Just connect the phone to the computer via usb, mount the phone as a disc drive. Make a new folder on your sd card labeled music and start dropping them in there. I'm sure you have a 16gb sd card, you won't have to worry about the amount of songs you have.

i installed the game and followed the instructions here
http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/01/11/how-to-install-use-chainfire3d-on-kindle-fire/
and once the game loads i get a progress bar that goes over under the "f" and then crashers back to the home screen.
i dowloaded the sd files from another site and put them in the correct spot and that didnt help either
has anyone got this to work?
Are you using custom ROM or stock ?
I have similar issue - Crime Story game is running perfectly on stock ROM, but on custom is shutting down after 3 seconds. Same problem witch Opera mobile - just freezes on ICS builds.
I'm using the barebones cm7 rom.
I try it on my inspire 4g and it will load more but always crash. Before I can play the game
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
chainfire3d will WORK 100% eventually, but you gotta remember that the ROMs are still being worked on and are not meant for daily use. I don't know what that guy tried with his KF, but mine would freeze whenever I tried Galaxy on Fire 2 with it. And that was with trying all the different settings.
There are things like hardware acceleration, HD video, and audio issues still to figure out. Always best to debug with adb and see what's being said and pass it on to the developer working on the said rom.
I've rooted my inspire and my nook color and have custom roms on them. I'm used to the android system and how it works. I was just wondering what rom would be suggested for my inspire. I just got the phone secondhand from a friend and I'm not sure what people consider the best rom for the inspire as there are always like 40+ for each system and only 2-3 are good ones.
Thanks for the advice,
Potticus
I was also wondering if there as a way to boost my network signal. My iphone 4 gets full service in my bedroom but hte Inspire gets 1-3 or so. I'm running Android Revolution for the inspire btw.

There is no "Best ROM" its all personal preference. Theres Sense, AOSP, MIUI. Youll just have to try them and see for yourself. To boost your signal you can try flashing new radios+rils
Trial and error really, I have tried cm7 and it was pretty good. If your looking for a suggestion I'm really liking ice cold sandwich by lord clockan

Ok well, I've given Android revolution a shot, not for me. And I'm on Coredroid with the Lee kernal, But that confuses me a bit more. There is five different kernals to chose from?
As far as radios and rils, I've done my reading but that seems to be a total cluster**** as far as hunting down combos and what not. Could you direct me towards a combo that might work in the Southern states (Oklahoma to be exact) Also I've checked the guide and I've got to turn something or other off. I've turned off eng but not the other.
What might be the major differences shortly summarized between AOSP and MIUI and Sense. All I've tried is Sense to this point.
Read op of radio thread in the dev stickies. It will explain radio ril combos. As for a Rom its trial and error. Since the DHD has had more updates almost all of the roms for the inspire are based off of DHD roms. I personally beleive that anything based on an inspire Rom will give a better user experience as far as everything working the way it should. However the dhd roms have a lot more options. Att just did release our sense 3.0 Rom on the 31st so maybe we will see a little more inspire based roms going up. Still though we won't be seeing any sense 3.5 or higher roms based off of anything made specifically for the inspire and American data network. If you can sacrifice the sense interface than I would say hands down aosp is the way to go, but I myself am stuck on sense for now, and I HATE miui. But its all opinion.

I've been reading his thread, but I'm not sure I got the radio installed? I've tried going to bootloader but I can't seem to get it to work through his instructions.
"A. Radio - Download the PD98IMG.zip file. Place this file on the root of your SD card. Reboot to bootloader. When prompted, press the Volume Up button to install. Then reboot."
I'm not sure I'm getting the correct prompt or one at all.
I'm using coredroid until I can get all this figured out right now. (actually I'm going to ice sammich, thanks to the guy that posted it) I grabbed the latest ATT radio+ril combo for the inspire just as a starting point.
The only message i got from bootloader is "parsing the .zip" then it just goes back.
Woah! grabbed a different radio from the one I was trying, and it worked!(HTC-RIL 2.2.0160HM)
Going to install the RIL right now, let's hope we've made progress to better signal. Aswell as the ICS i'm going to load on it.
Usually when it just says parsing and goes back its either a bad download or an issue with the SD card

Only use radio. Don't flash the ril. Ril is included in Rom anyways. Ics is aosp so don't mess with the ril. It will mess things up. Ril is for sense roms.

Ok thanks, I put another copy of it on there and it worked. But the SD card is fine, I use it for nook flashes and whatnot.
I already did... but I'll reflash ICS now that you say that. Good call!
Am I safe to flash a few different radios over the next 2-3 weeks to check the connection without having to change anything else?

Yeah radios are fine to play with as long as you stick to inspire threads. Stay away from ones with rc data unless you know it matches all three radio/ril/rom.

Ok how do I know it matches up? Also, I'm on ATT and it won't read my contacts off my sim card or show me my phone number and carrier in the software informations/settings part of hte rom.

That is the disadvantage to using roms that aren't supposed to run on our phones. Read up about Ics in the forums and see what issues are known and decide if you can live with them or if they can be fixed. There is a ton of information in these forums and pretty much already a thread for every question you could ask. That's why people say you just have to test them and and figure out which ones will work for you. The same goes for all the Rom/radio/ril combos. The radio thread is the best place but there are also many threads on the subject.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
So far, I'm willing to deal with it. Just takes 20 minutes of reentering contacts into my phonebook. The phone number part wasn't an issue, just wondering if that was a problem.
And I just switched to the non RCdata radio at your suggestion.
My battery seems to be 100% better, I've lost 4% in the course of about 2 and a half hours.
i was on the thread in android development that has the list of all the roms for the inspire 4g, but when i went to the cyanogenmod 10.1 it said Desire HD Android development at the top. is this rom actually able to run on the inspire?
DHD ROMs can run on the Inspire. They're nearly the same phone.
Some of the DHD ROMs like Jellytime have an Inspire patch you need to flash though, so watch for that. Otherwise, you should mostly be good. I'm new to rooting so don't just take my word for it, but they should work.

Yes you can run Desire HD roms on Inspire just use the inspire+mod pack. Its configures the audio and gps for the Inspire 4g. I attached it just download it. Flash the inspire zip after you flash the ROM. The beauty of this mod is that you can use just about any DHD made ROM as long as you flash this zip or your audio and other things will not work correctly.

And even then there's a decent chance it'll still work correctly, plus or minus a tinny sound effect. Personally I often forget to flash inspire mod, and I've never dealt with any major issues with it. It was designed for gingerbread, but so far every version of android up has worked with it (4.0, 4.1.1, 4.1.2, 4.2)
Desire HD= Inspire 4g with slightly more storage, a 3g radio, and marketed for Europe. The Inspire 4g has the exact same hardware, except with a 4g radio and slightly different speakers (hence the sound quality). The biggest difference is really in name.
Personally I'll find myself in the DHD threads more often than the I4G ones- they tend to be more populated and there's no difference.
Yes, it will run on the Inspire. I am running it now, and it's a little slow but pretty smooth and solid overall. Definitely flash inspiremod, although this is really optional.
