Anyone use this? I got a check engine light on my 02 toyota so I figured its time to have one of these puppies. Haven't hooked it up but Im looking for folks that have used it with the skyrocket...or really, any phone for that matter.
I don't know anything about the app, sorry.
But just in case you didn't know, AutoZone will check your engine codes for free. Probably other auto parts stores will do the same.

Right but my car is getting close to 100k and I don't really want to have to go down to autozone for the diagnostic every time. I have received the PXL Kiwi bluetooth unit and I must say that Im in love with it. Will go great with my tablet and road trips. Works great with torque free version. I am able to read and clear codes along with monitoring any temp or measure regarding the motor I can think of.

But you'd still have to go to autozone to get the part to fix the check engine light anyway, right? I'm glad you're enjoying your purchase though. Gives me one more thing I want to get.
I use this one works great for those re-occurring codes that really are not critical.

I bought this and it works good with torque. It's also cheaper.

Well, not really...I can order the part online usually and for a discount most times...but sometimes I end up at pepboys anyways.
On a side note, I replaced the pre cat o2 sensor and now my car stalls idle and keeps going into open loop. The good thing is I can watch whats happening with torque and the obd2 connector so I have an idea what the problem is even though its not throwing a fault code. I did clear the fault code but I didnt reset the ecu. Im thinking it just needs to be reset and re-learn its values.
Yes torque and the cheapo Ebay obd2 adapter work with this phone.

Not quite...its a toyota solara. I would love a subie though.
Or use Mobilscan (mobilscan.dk) adapter and software from same company works great on my MR-S
get a vgate adapter from ebay v1.5 for 25-30$ plus the premium otrque app, so for 30$ you get a great system for car diag
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-VGate-Mi...t=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item3f0eb88d0a
works perfectly and all sensor work very well, had this for over a year and i dont reget it
OBD-II tool
I bought Torque as soon as it came out and its a great little tool and good fun but if you have serious diagnostic work to do the ScanXL packages are really solid and have licensed support for manufacturer specific PIDs.
A few years ago, before I had an android phone or torque existed. I picked up a scantool.net OBDLink bluetooth/usb adapter - they're a fair bit more expensive than the ebay units, but can read way more PID's per second, which probably isn't useful unless you're running a copy of the ScanXL software.
For day to day stuff Torq + ebay bt adapter make me feel dumb for spending all that cash, ug.
I dunno about the ebay adapter but Im very happy with my plx. Sure I spent more but it got great reviews...maybe the other cheaper ones work but Im happy. Torque just fixed the themes too.

Has anybody tried this or any other solutions?
This is just a car mount.. the Google Car Dock will charge it and put it in some kind of NAV mode I am guessing..
But I am waiting too, much more excited about the car mount over the desktop one they sell.
i'm buying this one when my N1 arrives:

I have this one. You will need to modify (Heat and bend, file down slightly with dremmel) to make it work with a hardcase on the phone. I got it to work nicely.
I just bought a random car holder from a store with variable width and it works like a charm, cost like $10.
Might not have a built in charger, but I already have a usb charger for my car so it doesn't really matter.

bought this to use with my G1 back when the Sprint Hero Nav app was dumped.. used it many times and works excellent with the Nexus One as well ... it rotates landscape and it unclips to use in the dash vent .. i originally wanted it because it doesnt interfere with the touchscreen and its low profile wont let it vibrate too much..and it has a good grasp on the phone without damage (i run a track setup on my suspension with competition spring rates and coilovers.. along with solid engine mounts)

I've been looking for a low profile secure vent mount for my benz. Might check this one out for $15!
Update: Just picked one up at PepBoys for $11.99!
FYI: it's brand name is TypeS Xgrip universal holder & model is AC30267-60/6
Update2: Took it back...way to flimsy!

I had a lot of trouble getting it to 'hold' securely at the correct angle height on the vent.
It has been two months now, and still no sign of:
- Car dock
- Replacement neoprene sleeve
- Replacement headphones
These things are really necessary! If my headphones broke I would be beyond pissed considering how often I use them to make and receive calls.
When are they going to get on this!?
What the hell bradsh1
You can get a free replacement neoprene sleeve and headphones by calling HTC. Just don't abuse it...it's supposed to be for if you DO lose or break either of those items. As for the cardock, I agree.

Sweet! I never would have known.
But........ Google's venture into the cell phone manufacturing industry has been extremely unorthodox. As for the car dock, the demand is there yet there is no supply. The longer Google waits, the more demand will continue to fall off and Google will eventually be left with too much supply. Following the theory of economics, by the time Google does release this, we should get them for next to nothing.
Okay... probably not.

I understand what you're saying, but respectfully disagree. Remember that the N1 is yet to be released for Verizon or Vodaphone. That will surely rocket demand for a functional car mount... even more so if it will work for the Desire.

Ahh... I got the B+ in economics while you got the A. Good point.
Well google was kinda smart as far as releasing the N1 for t-mobile first. We're kinda like the guinea pig for the phone. They will work out the quirks and hopefully when verizon and/or any other provider get their version it will be a nice smooth release.
Most of us her root our phones to suck every last bit of potential out of them.
I'm curious if most of us 'root' the rest of our lives fro the same reason as well.
For example, I pulled the stock intake out of my car and put in a high flow intake system. I don't race or even drive like a maniac, just like I don't use my rooted phone to do too much more than make phone calls and browse the web. I just like that I can make my car a little more fuel efficient and get a little more power for acceleration when I need it.
Back to phone, I did the silicone mod to the Sensation to keep the dust out because waiting for it to get bad and need a replacement seemed like a dumb plan.
My computer....Linux OS. (I'm sure a good number of us do that one, but damn you Dell and you proprietary wifi drivers that take hours to hack to get working!)
I put a double blade on my mulching lawnmower so it mulches twice as well in half the time.
I couldn't survive without my Logitech Harmony remote for my entertainment system, the one that lets you flash custom button mapping and macros to the remote so single button presses turn on the TV, DVD player, and switch the stereo from Cable to DVD while turning off the DVD player. (Seriously....I could not live without this.)
I have a custom designed Windows 2000 based computer in my car running better GPS software on a 7 inch monitor than you can get in the newest Garmin device. Also runs my music and car diagnosis with an OBII interface into the car's main engine management computer. All with easy and safe to use touchscreen design in front of the shifter. (Emphasis on safe to use) And it looks like it came out of the factory with this computer installed, thank you very much.
You know...this kind of stuff.
So do other people hack everything in their lives? Or just the phone?
Oh yeah, with cars I do it so much more. Aftermarket parts is what I spend a lot of money on, for example this week, I've brought a whole new receiver and headunit for my Ford Explorer, changed all four speakers, bypassed the factory amp and now I have much better sound with more quality bass.
I also had a manual transmission VW Jetta, there was something called the swiss cheese mod, where you cut holes into the intake box so the air filter/intake sucks in more air and gives it an more louder/meaner sound while accelerating.
I've had my fair share of mods, can't remember all, but mostly with cars though. Getting them out of manufacturer specs and taking it to an whole another level.
You sound like my kinda guys. My philosophy is "if you can make it better, what's stopping you?"

Unfortunately, as anyone who likes to flash ROM's knows....if you can make it better, tomorrow you can make it even ore better, and even better still the next day....and so on and so forth.
There does come a time when I feel like I spend more time tweaking / building / modifying things than I ever spend actually using them.

Haha, when I had my 2.0 Jetta MKV, I was dying to have mine, look like some on JettaJunkies.
Other than that, I'm disappointed in Logitech for dropping support the Google TV Revue, and not letting devs unlock the bootloader.
I sold my Prime and I just recieved the GPS Dongle for the Prime. Looks like they spent time on making it. Looks good. Would it work on the Infinity and if it does would it make it any stronger or does it just kinda cancel out the internal and just use the dongle. Just curious to see if the zeroing in is any better. Maybe by feet instead of meters. Kinda cool to pull out a hi-power gps tablet in the pack when your on the trails. You can scan the area with google satelite maps at base camp.
Just sent it to the bayer of your prime... he/she needs it more than you...
Its was a seller on Ebay who I'm pretty sure new about the weak wifi and Gps since I specifically asked if they were weak before I bought it. I really don't want anything to do with them. No sympathy for then since they didn't want to refund my money. I had to have Ebay settle it and give me my money back for a defective and not as described item. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Not sure you will need it. If you search on YouTube for Infinity GPS videos, you will see that the GPS is very good on the Inifnity. Asus was not going to make that mistake twice!
Keep it, you never know when you might need it. Or, sell it on eBay for $1 to a Prime owner and have them just pay for shipping. Kinda pay it forward and get the good karma.
I just remembered I know someone with a prime. I'm gonna see if he wants it. Good Karma is a good thing.

Szsion (i am not allowed to post links, google it, the first match is the one) produces quite nice android only (no ce) car navis that fit the design of different cars (audi, VW, mercedes, BMW, Kia, opel and many more).
I bought the Audi A3 version which looks quite like my now obsolete audi rns-e navigation plus.
I assume that the radios are technically all the same with different CAM bus boxes on the back and different designs. Sporting MStar SoCs (subsidary of Mediatek) they have a CPU powerful enough for car radio tasks and have a quite nice display.
I am also happy with the radio reception, which is as good as my original audi device. also i bought a realtek based dVB-T stick which enables me to use SDR along with digital radio, tv and FM in even better quality.
Navigation is VERY accurate, I even play ingress on it
The only issues I have at the moment is CAN bus support, which is because I got a pre-sale sample with some firmware problems regarding can bus support and I can't turn display brightness to full at the momenr, but that could be fixed with a new software.
So , do you guys know something about those devices ? Anybody else owns one? I just saw that DX.COM is also selling them, so chances are that I am not the only one with this nice device..

Don't worry about not getting the devices. They exist
It seems that they are having some trouble with CAN conectivity which they claim is a software issue. I insisted on getting my device anyway and putting on software updates later on. Linkey is very nice if you ask her ...
They could also send me just 4gig model since 8 and 16 are not available yet.
They could, however communicate the problems a little more and not letting us wait 2 months without delivery, a mail saying that it will take some time would be nice...
The launcher they use is very nice, like on the pictures. The cpu is powerful enough for car tasks, gps is awesome. I have the best snr i ever had on any of my android devices.
Dvd playback works, radio is good. As I already said.
Anbody knows a rooting technique that MAY work with the mstar cpu?
I have been following these units as well. I have asked for a video of the interface so that I could see performance. Instead of doing a walk-thru like most companies, I got this, that I uploaded to YouTube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHl2ZaDq3iw
I have also asked about unlocking the bootloader. It seems that the manufacture is interested in modifying his code to Android 5.x I told him if he opened up 100% of the source code to XDA, not only would he have a stable build of 5.x, but he would also have the best selling unit on XDA. I havent heard any more back.

Hi Riley!
Do any of your CANBUS features work or is it just the SWC that dors not work?
Also, how happy are you with the display brightness? Mine's way too dim for daylight use. At night, the display is very nice and sharp with beautiful living color, but with sunlight it really sucks so bad you almost can't see anything.
What's your software version?
I forgot to mention how AWESOME it would be to have source code access for this device.
KICK-ASS!
Anybody got an idea how I could try to enhance the display brightness?

I have similar unit for Audi A4 2002 model, rear speakers were not working but got around that by connecting the rear aux outputs left and right to the cables for aux inputs left and right!
I also have trouble with the Canbus support and the LED lights on the unit do not go off when the unit is powered down. Thats not good news for my battery. However the unit is very quick and GPS works smoothly....

Baidu Root works just fine.
The display is not great in the sunlight. I also think the colors are a bit washed out. The radio tries to turn on the back up camera when I go in reverse and the led lights turn off when I turn off the headlights, so I assume the canbus is working. I think the swc is a wire harness issue, I'm going to check it out when I feel brave enough.

Those with Audis, how does the plastic of the radio match the dash?? The HuiFei unit was a glossy and didn't really match the matte factory finish
It looks great against the dash, like it belongs.

Side Note... Those with the Audi that are having speaker issues. 99% of the time this is because the right harness combo is not hooked up. I worked in car stereo for years and tell you the Audi harnesses can be tricky. Sometimes you need to have speaker wires only, sometimes you need to use the RCA jack harness, and sometimes you need to use both.
DO NOT PM asking me to help with your car. This is nothing something that can be troubleshot over the internet. Has to be done in person. Your best best is too pull your radio out and the harness, You should have a separate harness that plugs into the back of the radio giving you RCA output. You will need to take these outputs and try plugging into the harness that goes into the car. A combo of these, should cause all speakers to work.

One more question for the Audi guys. The 4 buttons around the volume knob. Can you program these to do certain functions? i.e. One to be home, one to be radio, one to GPS, last one to be Google Music for example.
The default is home, gps, secondary menu and radio. I haven't figured out how to change them yet though

Ok, it might be a hack to change them then. Im waiting to order mine as the harness shown to come with the radio is not the harness I need for my Audi. Also been told that the new versions work fine with the SWC. Once I see a picture of what harnesses come with the new versions, I will make my final decision.
Anyone want to install CPU-Z to see what the actual hardware specs are??
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cpuid.cpu_z&hl=en
I'll give it a whirl

If you do while on Wi-Fi, online validation will upload the specs and you can share the URL
valid.canardpc.com/a/ac5tun
Interesting it couldnt read the Frequency of the CPU... :-/
You can change the button layout by going to the calculator and type in !(123)= or !(786)=(look what works for you) and then chose the 4th option.
