When i bought battery performance was excellent.
But since i updated my tab to latest firmware i am experiencing a poor battery performance...
Is problem with firmware or hardware?
Anyone else facing such issue?
Same here, had no battery performance issues till after i rooted. I have been through a few roms and I am back to just stock rooted and am having a little drop in battery life. I personally have attributed it to me putting google now onto the tablet since ics isn't really built with google now. It may or may not be the issue. Not 100% sure what is causing it but it seems battery life has been a little off and i hope JB changes that.

which firmware u are using currently???
Android preload a lot of application in background. Temporarily disable some applications may be helpful, you can enable it again when needed. No need any tools but Aplication Manager.
Currently just stock rooted

May be try aokp or cm10 or stock debloated as clean rom etc or debloat it yourself as less background processes may mean a better battery life
Try app like beeterbatterystates to see what eats that battery may be uninstall
Make a nandroid and try rhe rom and if not like restore backup
For google now you could disable the cards you do not use in google now may help in battery life

There's a bug on 4.04 stock ROM, I've analyzed it using ddms (there's a error message generated to often about failed to write file)
So I guess that is the source of problem why stock ROM taking so much battery resource
This bug only happens after rooting stock?
First, my phone has a memory leak. Like, after using it for a while, even an hour or two, the available memory will go to 0. I have tried ending all apps that could be suspect, but all of the memory being used that is reported by the settings is much less than what is necessary for there to be <10MB of available memory. I even try to end as many programs as I can, but this eventually happens after some usage. Before you ask, no, I am not using task-killers, and I only notice this and end apps when whatever is leaking is starting. The phone will not effectively end enough applications to free the space. Almost every app will say "restarting" on the "running" page, and none will be seen on the "cached" page. It will result in the phone locking up and rebooting. Also, this happens during high CPU usage (might be a memory issue though), like while updating apps.
Second, my battery life since the OTA has dropped significantly. Now, I am lucky if I get 6-8 hours of battery life while occasionally using the phone and listening to music a lot. The screen seems to be taking most of the power (~65%), and the brightness is regulated by JuiceDefender. I have tried to automatically set it without JD, and it was worse in battery life. It is on much less than the wifi, yet is somehow taking up far more battery. Second place is the Android OS/System/Mediaserver combined (~20%), for whatever reason. I have tried using the Battery Calibration application multiple times and it has not helped. Disabling JD makes battery issues worse. I have looked for wakelocks, but besides the charger, I found none that looked suspicious/non-OS related. See attached file for battery info.
Third, for some reason, the dead pixels came back? Now, it looked like at first there was a shape of a butterfly in spotted dead pixels. Most of those localizations disappeared (or, the "dead" pixels came back to "life"), but a few grew, and now I have somewhere over 100 dead pixels. A few of those have shrunk, but it is still an eyesore. I can provide pictures if it will help. I'm not sure why it is doing this.
Note: all of these issues have started since the ICS OTA. I reflashed the stock OS before doing the OTA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated for any of these!

Yeah mine is like that or worse if I have wifi/screen on as much as you do.
The drain is pretty steady even with minimal usage
Any ideas on what could be causing this?

try FXZ stock ICS
freeze all unneccessary apps ...
dont install any other extra apps (downloadin from market)
try to keep minimum apps..
stay as much on 2G/Wi-Fi
ur battery should last for atleast more than 18 hrs for moderate use (else it will drain dependin on how heavy u use)
if this doesn't work then u'll need expert advice
& remember you'll get rarely above 24 hrs (usage matters a lot)
correct me if m wrong ...
I am also facing the same issues. I have the latest STOCK ICS.
Huge memory leak! Launcher has to restart on every unlock barely 20-7 mbs free!! and battery also drains pretty fast, although not when in sleep.
try "fast reboot"
it will clear some memory

Pretty sure the device is just getting old but I've been running out of RAM way too constantly causing many processes (including system processes) to be killed and in a constant restarting state. The only way to fix this is to restart my phone.
I'm on the latest CM10.1 Nightly, using the 7.3 marmite kernel (which I believe has the BIGMEM patch to add a bit more RAM). I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing thing or if it's a ROM problem. And yes, I tend to fully close apps fully before exiting it so it's not hanging around in memory.
Anyone?
Yes absolutely I am in the same boat. I am running the latest M build of CM10.1 and this is driving me nuts. I think this is a ROM problem I ran stock 4.1.2 for a long time and I could go days without a reboot with a big mem kernel.
Maybe apps are using more and more memory as well now? I just don't remember CM being like this it has only been recently that something has gone horribly wrong.

My mom uses Nexus S running stock 4.1.2 and she also faces the running out of RAM. The phone is damn slow and most of the time is left with only 20MB of free RAM. I was thinking of installing CM 10.1 to see if it helps.
I have the exact same problem with 4.2.X ROMs. My phone runs out of memory and becomes sluggish. If I reboot it would be fine for a day or two and then slow again. This is why I am still in cm 10 stable.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
Do any of have the "hold back button to kill app" activated. This is truly the best and easiest way to kill the app from using the memory.
Also do u guys have ur apps on ur SD card or on the phone memory. Having the apps on the SD card allows for a better responsive phone.
Try a different ROM that has less on it. Especially"Google now" its a memory hog! Some ROMs like Slimbean have to option to not install it when installing the ROM & Gapps.
Install the ROM without extras. If it works fine before ur added apps then it could be an app that is also killing ur memory.
Also if u read ur ROMs thread, people will recommend a certain kernel that works well with it. A newer kernel can & will improve the phone's performance by far... But tread carefully since it can also cause more issues if used improperly.
Lastly this phone is like any other computer, it needs maintenance so make it a simple habit of rebooting it every night just as u go to bed so it can reset and charge the battery properly without anything extra running in the background.
Good luck

Yes, I also have the same problem. Right now I'm running CM 10.0 stable.
The ROM is quite stable and the battery life is good. But every 3 - 4 days I have to reboot my phone because it becomes very slow.
I think JB is not meant for our device. I'm gonna try Slim Bean next and see how it performs. If it's still slow, I'm going back to Gingerbread.

I'm running Slim-Bean 4.2.2 on my Nexus S and it's just as bad as CM 10.1. JB was just not meant for a device that is now 2.5 years old.
GB is really where I have seen optimal performance from my device, but CM 9 works pretty well too.
I did have problems. After downloading Greenify my phone stopped acting so slow as well as having about double the battery life.

Greenify, though seems to work, is one of the apps that gets killed when running out of ram. The apps I'm using to free RAM (Tasker, Greenify, etc) all want to get killed when running out of RAM. :\
Guys just go back to CM10 then you'll have more free ram 4.1.2 is the best os version for our phones!

Honestly guys try the greenify app it really is magic. Even if greenify gets killed the apps that it has hibernated won't come out of it unless you launch an app. And greenify will start again automatically it won't remain killed.

IF YOUR BATTERY LIFE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO YOU IN THE WORLD THIS MAY NOT BE FOR YOU!
Battery life hasn't been thoroughly tested and not expected to be great.
Welcome to ROM ZERO.
ZERO was developed for one purpose. SPEED! You will open apps, download, install apps, and browse the web faster than before. This rom is based on USABILITY SPEED and may not show in benchmarks. It's two totally different things. Battery life is not expected to be great but hasn't been tested so please Don't complain about your battery life. I would like some feedback on the battery life but as I said, don't expect much.
This is a stock rom lightly debloated with a few nice tweaks. I have added my yamato performance edition tweaks and some scripting in the frame buffer to help speed things up. This will give you higher frame rates in games and overall speed. Lean kernel is preloaded and completely over clocked including the GPU out of the box. There is no need to lkconfig. The GPU governor is also automatically set to performance mode. There are alot of adjustments made to this rom for speed. It's FAST.
SO WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE?
De-odexed system with ODEXED apps.
Lightly debloated.
Black & white toggles.
Black status bar.
4.2 keyboard.
Menu to kill.
Holo & stock TW launchers.
Adjusted Bluetooth for quicker connections
Complete rewrite of the build.prop and included all of my HWUI settings for speed and a better visual experience.
Frame buffer speed adjustments.
Full HW rendering.
GPU over-clocked.

Installed this a few hours ago, been playing with it nonstop since then. I love it, but the native wifi tethering does not work. Is there a workaround for this that I'm missing? The wireless tether apps on the market don;t seem to be working, even with changing some settings. Thanks!

I'm going to guess I got a bit carried away with de-bloating. I will check it out. It's something I just never used but I will make it work. Sorry bout that!
Ok I just checked out native tethering but couldn't find any problems. What kind of issue are you having with it?
Not having any luck downloading through the link in the op. Keep getting a downloading error. Is the file hosted anywhere else by chance?? Thanks!

I just posted a dropbox link in the op. See if that works better for you. The original link is working fine for me though.
I can start the hotspot from the status bar on top, but when I connect to my phone, get either a Limited Connectivity error or no connection at all. I can take some screenshots when I get home if that would help, maybe the app has an error log that I can find.
Just flashed, had no issues. Everything seems nice and smooth. Its also visually very smooth. Coming from clean ROM I would say as far as "speed" at least opening apps and such Clean ROM is faster, but Zero is very fluid. No issues with lag. I havent tested much else. So far so good though. Nice work and thanks! Its been kind of quiet on the forums since the S4 came out.
Unfortunately I found an issue this morning with some of the scripts loading. This rom is currently not running as I intended it as far as speed. The update tonight will be a huge difference in performance! Sorry about the bug.
Version 1.2 released.
Fixed scripting.
This will be a noticeable improvement!
Thanks for your patience.

Crap thats a big battery. How much time do you usually get out of that?
Nice! Could you possibly remove Backup Assistant from settings? Always bothers me.
EDIT: Also, it's not allowing the setup wizard to complete. This is the only way to get my apps to auto-restore so could you look into it?

Well it's obviously easy enough to remove the app itself but removing the tab from the settings menu isn't something I have ever dove into yet. For me it's a bit complicated and over my head right now. I'm going to have to read up on setting tabs and learn a bit more about it. Probably in version 5.0 lol.
Edit @Your edit..
Darn another flaw! Ugghhh! Yes I will.
After recently getting my fancy sgs3 stolen, I'm seriously considering keeping the Infuse as my daily driver, rooted and flashed with custom rom.
That said, if I was shooting for rock solid stability and maximum battery life anyone can possibly squeeze out of this (strangely high spec for a 2 year old) device, where would I begin?
Any kind of suggestions on kernels/radios/roms modification would be greatly appreciated!
For reference: right now I'm running aeon 1.4, pulling two gmail accounts with smatterings of ebook reading, IM'ing and tumblr posting. And the phone lasts for about two hours of screen time, six to ten hours of battery life per day.
Again, thanks guys!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if your running Aeon 1.4SL you should be able to flash one of the Synthesis kernels (1.2 GHz for best batt life) and video/MHL will still work without having to worry about flashing the restore. This should improve your overall battery life some. I'm new to this so you may want to wait for some experience to chime in. I have however flashed the 1.2 GHz Synthesis kernel while on Emancipation A1 and seen improved battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638138
When I run GB, I use AEON 1.4 SL. I usually get a little more than 1 day with moderate use. 2+ days with light use. I run Entropy's 4/4/12 Daily Driver as a kernel and UCLB3 for my modem. I used UCKL2 for a little while because I had issues with signal strength at my home but it drained my battery more quickly.
----- edit -----
I haven't tried the Synthesis kernel because I've been running JB recently. But the response in the forums has been positive. You should give it a spin.

Hmm that battery life sounds a bit better than what I get... I guess there's certainly room to tweak around with stuff.
How do you feel about running post ICS roms on infuse 4G so far? Are they worth it? Any significant performance/battery life hits you've noticed so far?

The JB roms are very good although they do push the Infuse hardware pretty hard. They're very smooth and the only things that don't work are 720p video and MHL (if I remember correctly). Battery life is about the same although you might have to tweak the CPU settings a bit.
----edit----
The JB roms do experience some instability because, if I understand the situation correctly, they use a modified GB kernel. This can sometimes cause unexpected reboots or shut downs. It hasn't been an issue for me but if you're looking for stability, you can't go wrong with GB.
Do either of you use the Facebook app with Aeon? If so, do notifications for FB work for you? Sorry to go off topic but I posted this question in my own thread and got no response. Thanks.
I applied the V6 supercharger script after having serious memory lags (running consistently at 55Mb free, couldn't use the keyboard, open anything). I now am at 180-220Mb free, no texting issues and battery life seems better than stock.
