I realize this is a new phone, but its relatively cheap price, decent specs and the fact it is on a contract free carrier make for a potentially popular phone.
There are a few threads elsewhere ie:
androidforums Attain 4G - All things Root
There are no specific forums for this device on XDA yet.
Please, please, please let the development begin!
I am willing to use my phone as a test device and assist in whatever way possible. I would like to find a stock img to flash back to if everything fouls up though.
Thank you XDA Devs!
Samsung Galaxy Attain™ 4G LTE (SCH-R920)
Generally
Who sets up a new forum? This is different from the Samsung Galaxy S II Attain on AT&T. (Hence why this thread is here...)
Samsung Galaxy Attain™ 4G LTE (SCH-R920) is on the MetroPCS vendor, with its own issues.
Personally
I've tried compiling tarballz to build a new kernel zImage from opensource.samsung.com (cygwin, Sourcery G++/Bench lite, Odin), flashed the kernel tarball in the PDA section of Odin, notice a red 'KERNEL' verification FAILED, and wouldn't go past SAMSUNG screen; boot loops. New fix to stop exploits?
I'm an idiot, and bricked my phone. It's been bricked for a week now. Need fix plz. OEM ROM?
Is anyone working on this? I've seen maybes, but nothing firm. Don't know my specs, but I assume the same as this page.

There is no development underway for the attain. The only option is a pre rooted flash able tar. Someone was able to get their hands on a rooted rom which can be flashed via Odin. There are no custom roms but u will have super user access and full root. Please also be aware there is no clockwork recovery, so no nandroid or flashing zips.
Hello I am from Europe and i want to buy a Galaxy Note 10.1
But in Europe we have 2 versions the N8000 (wifi + 3g) and the N8010 (wifi).
I wanted to know if its possible to flash a N8000 rom on an N8010. They have both the same hardware but one is missing a 3g function.
So for rooting, flashing and development reasons does it matter witch version of the device I buy?
Thanks in advance
The answer is yes, you can flash most 8000 roms onto a 8010 device, but it usually causes some bugs to appear (which are usually fixable, but you will need to do some research to fix them).
If you're planning on buying a 8010 and rooting it to install a jellybean rom, I would recommend installing this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046446. I installed it a few days ago, and it's been working great for me so far .

Just so you know, I originally bought an 8010. I have now upgraded to the 8000. I don't often make use of the 3G capability, but I want it to be there if I need it.
Also I've noticed that development for the 8000 seems to be a lot more active. So think carefully before you get the 8010
hey guys, i tried searching the forums but ended up having to post this question. is "GT-P3113_XAR_1_20120412104938_ldcgx9tzmx.zip" (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645295) the same as "IML74K-P3113UEALCB-stock.zip" (dead link found here: http://goo.im/devs/jcase/IML74K-P3113UEALCB-stock.zip)?
just curious if they are the same because i will be reverting my galaxy tab 2 7.0 back to stock rom to send it in for repairs.
just thought i'd ask here since xda developers are the best in the biz right now.
thanks in advance.
The thing is you need to be sure it matchs your region you bought it from.
Check samsung-updates.com, they have the latest in different areas directly from the samsung kies servers.
Hope this helps

just bought the galaxy tab 2 7.0 from Costco. I think I need the one from goo apps but link has been disabled. Wish "jcase" could reupload it.
**UPDATE**: the model # on my original box says "GT-P3113TSSXAR". SW-VER is "UEALD3". so yes, i do need the version that jcase had uploaded. damn.
Hey Guys,
I've just purchased a Galaxy tab 2 P3110 (7.0) and i would like to root the device, and put Cyanogenmod 10 or 10.1 on it, as this is christmas present for a close relative and want the added features Cyanogen offers. I already have this installed on a Samsung S3.
I've seen quite a few different guides on the forums and other websites, all with differing ways to root the device and install custom ROM, can someone please provide a recommended guide to follow.
Check the 7 tab development thread.
Basically you need to download a program named Odin and use it to flash the proper cwm recovery to your tab. Then you boot that recovery to install the rom. You don't need to root, rooting is only if the rom you use is not rooted, like stock rom etc. You also don't need to unlock the bootloader or anything like that.

Dear Nutsonfire,
Thanks for your response i'm still conflicted about which instructions to use, some are saying make sure you download samsung kies, and the drivers etc..... before running ODIN, and some don't even mention it.

Kies is just so that you have the correct usb drivers so that your device is recognized by windows. You can also just install the drivers stand alone or Kies.
get odin and the file from the chainfire topic on the dev section
flash it and voila
quite simple, purchased mine last week and already flashed a lot of things
Amongst a slur of guides to rooting your Galaxy Tab 2 7" 3110, this video helped my a lot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0v62o9W7oY
He goes in-depth on a lot of things that confused me, so hopefully it will help you!
(I was having trouble with the youtube plugin)

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all your great help so far.
Not sure if this is applicable but figured i would check before i do it. I've noticed on my device its listed as a P3110, but on a few of the instructions and the CF-AUTO root its listed as model number GT-P3110, from what i have its a plain tab 2, without phone.

yeah we just drop the GT- from the front of the model name as a sorta shorthand the 3 Models for the 7" (not counting the verizon that uses a different model number string) are the GT-P3100, GT-P3110 and GT-P3113 and the 10.1" versions replace the 3 at the beginning with a 5 so they are GT-P5100, GT-P5110 and GT-P5113 they are the same thing whether they have the GT in front or not, its just quicker to not type it out everytime.
BRILLIANT

Thank you guys for all your brilliant help the last few days, hopefully i can return the favor when it comes time to other people asking the some questions
I got 10.1 up and going nicely took less than 10 minutes to get it all happening
After 4 months of stalking this forum, I finally bought a note 10.1 to use as my phone... weird I know. Hopefully it arrives today. Anyway, I have a question on flashing the stock 4.1.2 n8000 germany rom on to my n8000. Can I just flash it if I am from another region? Is there anything I need to do before I flash? I keep on seeing threads about changing CSCs and some of them seem to be due to flashing on a different model instead. I would also like to ask if the 4.1.2 is still Exynos vulnerable (Easily rootable).
You need to use ODIN to flash, make sure you have a nandroid copy of your stock rom....
exynosexploit.apk will still give you root access. There is a camera patch on the s3 forum for after using the exynos patch to secure the exploit made by chainfire (buy this man a beer) but I haven't tested this on the note 10.1 as yet.
Best idea would be to root, do nandroid backup then flash JB4.1.2...
Cheers...
Oh, and get yourself the BT stylus if its going to be a phone replacement... Makes life easier and you don't have to be wearing a BT headset all the time...
