[Q] Question on flashing other location rom - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After 4 months of stalking this forum, I finally bought a note 10.1 to use as my phone... weird I know. Hopefully it arrives today. Anyway, I have a question on flashing the stock 4.1.2 n8000 germany rom on to my n8000. Can I just flash it if I am from another region? Is there anything I need to do before I flash? I keep on seeing threads about changing CSCs and some of them seem to be due to flashing on a different model instead. I would also like to ask if the 4.1.2 is still Exynos vulnerable (Easily rootable).

You need to use ODIN to flash, make sure you have a nandroid copy of your stock rom....
exynosexploit.apk will still give you root access. There is a camera patch on the s3 forum for after using the exynos patch to secure the exploit made by chainfire (buy this man a beer) but I haven't tested this on the note 10.1 as yet.
Best idea would be to root, do nandroid backup then flash JB4.1.2...
Cheers...
Oh, and get yourself the BT stylus if its going to be a phone replacement... Makes life easier and you don't have to be wearing a BT headset all the time...

Chinese Android Phones can you flash?

i want new phone unlocked because my g1 is slow but i was curious if there was a way to know if the chinese android phone is flashable and using which rom? and which is a good phone to buy ...
bumpppppp/
It hasn't even been 3 hours, there's no need for a bump. Also I don't think those cheap knockoffs can be flashed but it's possible. First you have to root it though which is probably possible with one of the "one-click root" apps. Actually flashing one is a bit more involved because of hardware differences. Next time just get the real phone instead of a knockoff, save yourself some headache and heartache at not being able to do everything you want.
i actually have a g1 thank you very much handsome
Well then take out the "next time"s from my previous post and I stick by it. Knockoffs generally aren't that great. Getting the real version from a store is better, even craigslist or ebay.
I rooted my galaxy note replica with bin4ry it worked perfectly as for flashing i have flashed a few things but to flash a rom it would be harder because i have found out i would have to port the custom rom to work with my device.

What did I miss? Why the assumption that the OP is talking about a "cheap knock-off". Maybe he means a Huawei, or ZTE or something.
Rooting android from China

It will depend on the device you have. You should search xda for your device name, but if it is a cloned device, you may not be able to find anything, because some clones are not well supported.

[Q] GT-P5100 no Dialer problem

Hi,
I've bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with the 3G version, but the Israeli official importer decided to take out the phone capabilities in order to avoid paying taxes for a Mobile Phone device (They claim it's now only a Tablet).
The device is 100% 3G capable, including all the hardware needed to make phone calls and send/receive SMS. They claim to have taken out only some software files... Now I can use the SIM only to use wireless networking. I've tried to install the Dialer One application, but got an error message stating that my device is not supported.
Can anyone please help me with restoring the device to its original phone mode?
Thank you!
Dan.
Well you could try a custom rom? It may work

I rather not use a custom rom... I think it's actually much simple - Some files are missing, and if I knew which and where to put those, problem solved.
I know all Israeli P5100 suffer from this strange issue, so I guess there must be a quick solution.
Thanks.

I also had the same problem. I rooted my tab and got another stock rom( not israeli). I think all the other stock roms have dialer.
But remember to do a backup if you want to change rom. I did not do backup( forget) and now i do not have hebrew on my tablet.
If you want my advise do not change rom.... you will never use the phone on tablet ...trust me on that.

I *think* that official cm10.1 has support for using the p5100 as a phone, and I know it has hebrew. I suggest you try it.

[Q] Soon To Receive, What To Do First?

Soon I will be receiving my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8013 (White) hopefully Thursday 1/24/13
I'm familiar with the Samsung Galaxy line as I've own the S II and currently own the S III
Reading through these forums before I decided to purchase the Note 10.1, over the Nexus 10, I was excited to see so much development for this tablet. I'm guessing when I receive this tablet it will have ICS 4.0 installed, here is my question
What is the first thing I should to do the tablet when I receive it should I do an OTA to get it to JellyBean or would it be better for me to just root it and the flash a provided ROM in the forum to upgrade it to 4.1.2 via TWRP?
IMy guess is that I should not do any OTA and just root, install recovery and then flash a 4.1.2 ROM, for now I'll be sticking a stock ROM since I kinda like TouchWiz
Thank you in advance for all suggestions!

yes skip the ota part and root your phone once you get it.. then flash 4.1.2.. you can choose from the 3 custom recovery that we have here., twrp.,
zedomax cwm., and darkman_RS cwm..
I would say use your tablet stock for a few dayz just so u know could experience pure stock.. Its nice to see wat a device can do untouched. Than I would say update in a few dayz because if you like me I just love knowing I can do things to my device because once u fix up tge tablet u gonna become bored and wanna try more roms.. thats why I say play with stock for awhile. Once you go custom its boring using pure stock..
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
Thank you both for your suggestions
I can do the pure stock thing for a few days, with root of course!
Actually my main thinking was to run it with stock 4.1.2
Yep. I flashed a lot of different custom roms on my old tablet (asus transformer), but I've never really found the need to do it for this one. I'd advise you to root with the exynos exploit apk (because it's easy, but it might not be as safe), then use mobile odin to flash to 4.1.2 while keeping root. Then, with root, you can add multiwindow to all your apps with another apk available in the Themes and Apps section here!
If your stay stock on 4.1.1 why not just ota as its easier then root with exploit app? This is what I did, love touchwiz all I've done is made more apps available in multiwindow and rooted

I got my tablet today, WOW!!! Two days earlier than I expected
The following is what I did
1. Installed CMW via Odin
2. Installed SuperSU via CMW
3. Installed Goo IM and installed TWRP
4. Installed Stock 4.1.2 via TWRP after doing a backup of course!!!
Man so far Peel is awesome
How can I move the soft keys from the left side to the right?

[Q] Advice plz Re flashed ROM on S4 (baseband problem)

I'd like some advice please on what to do next. I rooted then flashed my Samsung S4 with a new ROM named Imperium v16.1. Everything is fine except the classic issue of having little to no data connectivity. Wireless is fine and when people try to ring me it's fine. I try to ring out though I have to go into and exit airplane mode.
This is the first time I've flashing an android handset so I definitely put myself in the n00b category.
I'm at the stage that I just don't care what ROM I have I just need data connectivity to work again. Yes I was probably stupid it try it but you know what it's like. We all want to experiment!
I guess I have two questions. If I install another ROM will I just have the same problem? Also, from my research, I get the impression that the problem is that my handset's modem drivers/baseband(?) don't match the ROM. Is that accurate/likely?
Any advice or simple background into what's going on would be grand!!
Thanks community!

Your stock firmware was the outdated Jellybean 4.2.2. Flash latest stock firmware from HERE and you'll be able to use newer custom roms. And free user can cload with 300kb/s, don't be scared by the 15kb/s.
Thank you. I've got the download.. I'll give it a go this evening after work.
(wow the copy of Odin I picked up is full of bloatware.. Wonder if the source I got it from was a bit dodge)
That has worked beautifully! Thank you very much.
Gosh, I had forgotten how bloaty and boring the stock ROM is.

[Completed] Verizon Hates Me...

So... I finally caved, and decided to replace my beloved Samsung Galaxy Nexus running CNA 3.8 ROM in December.
I still remember, however, that it took three DAYS (literally!) to get that phone rooted & install the custom ROM that I wanted some three or four years ago, so I did my homework this time. Well, at least I thought I did... (I have also installed a CM ROM on a Samsung 10.1 Tablet).
But Verizon Hates Me. I chose a Samsung (I like their products) Galaxy S5 because there were many CyanogenMod ROMS available for it... Hey, how hard could it be?!?
Many of you know the answer to that question... The first S5 I bought had already received a Verizon OTA 'Update' which completely disallowed any kind of rooting. OK, Lesson Learned, right? Back to eBay & I buy ANOTHER S5 (vzwlte) that was ALREADY rooted (TowelRoot/SafeStrap), and after my initial attempts to make the *bleeping* thing usable, I am THIS _||_ CLOSE to settling because while it does have root (meaning that I can live with it), I still completely cannot install a ROM... 'Latest roadblock is that I tried to restore SMS through Titanium Backup Pro, and now I can't get any SMS app to work, however that's not my question. (I can wipe it again and get back to 'Usable', but I still want the options available with a custom ROM...)
So... All that setup to ask my Question: What phone should I buy that is similar to the Samsung S5, will support VERIZON network, and allow me to root & install a custom ROM (preferably CM, but only because I'm familiar with that one)...? I think 5" is best for my needs, I don't care much between a 'good' and a 'GREAT' camera... I just want a reliable 5" phone that I can root, install a nice, stable, clean ROM on, and then add an ad-blocker!
Please, any suggestions?
