[Completed] Verizon Hates Me... - XDA Assist

So... I finally caved, and decided to replace my beloved Samsung Galaxy Nexus running CNA 3.8 ROM in December.
I still remember, however, that it took three DAYS (literally!) to get that phone rooted & install the custom ROM that I wanted some three or four years ago, so I did my homework this time. Well, at least I thought I did... (I have also installed a CM ROM on a Samsung 10.1 Tablet).
But Verizon Hates Me. I chose a Samsung (I like their products) Galaxy S5 because there were many CyanogenMod ROMS available for it... Hey, how hard could it be?!?
Many of you know the answer to that question... The first S5 I bought had already received a Verizon OTA 'Update' which completely disallowed any kind of rooting. OK, Lesson Learned, right? Back to eBay & I buy ANOTHER S5 (vzwlte) that was ALREADY rooted (TowelRoot/SafeStrap), and after my initial attempts to make the *bleeping* thing usable, I am THIS _||_ CLOSE to settling because while it does have root (meaning that I can live with it), I still completely cannot install a ROM... 'Latest roadblock is that I tried to restore SMS through Titanium Backup Pro, and now I can't get any SMS app to work, however that's not my question. (I can wipe it again and get back to 'Usable', but I still want the options available with a custom ROM...)
So... All that setup to ask my Question: What phone should I buy that is similar to the Samsung S5, will support VERIZON network, and allow me to root & install a custom ROM (preferably CM, but only because I'm familiar with that one)...? I think 5" is best for my needs, I don't care much between a 'good' and a 'GREAT' camera... I just want a reliable 5" phone that I can root, install a nice, stable, clean ROM on, and then add an ad-blocker!
Please, any suggestions?

Chinese Android Phones can you flash?

i want new phone unlocked because my g1 is slow but i was curious if there was a way to know if the chinese android phone is flashable and using which rom? and which is a good phone to buy ...
bumpppppp/
It hasn't even been 3 hours, there's no need for a bump. Also I don't think those cheap knockoffs can be flashed but it's possible. First you have to root it though which is probably possible with one of the "one-click root" apps. Actually flashing one is a bit more involved because of hardware differences. Next time just get the real phone instead of a knockoff, save yourself some headache and heartache at not being able to do everything you want.
i actually have a g1 thank you very much handsome
Well then take out the "next time"s from my previous post and I stick by it. Knockoffs generally aren't that great. Getting the real version from a store is better, even craigslist or ebay.
I rooted my galaxy note replica with bin4ry it worked perfectly as for flashing i have flashed a few things but to flash a rom it would be harder because i have found out i would have to port the custom rom to work with my device.

What did I miss? Why the assumption that the OP is talking about a "cheap knock-off". Maybe he means a Huawei, or ZTE or something.
Rooting android from China
Ok, i don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but i'm desperate. I want to flash my phone that i recently bought in China, but i'm getting no where. The problem is that i can't find recovery mod that will work on my phone. If someone have any idea what recovery mod should i try, please suggest it to me.
I'm using Samsung Galaxy Style Duos I-8262D.

It will depend on the device you have. You should search xda for your device name, but if it is a cloned device, you may not be able to find anything, because some clones are not well supported.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note II - SGH-I317M

Hey all, Im new here and have my first Android Phone
I have the Samsung Galaxy Note II SGH-I317M from Bell but had it unlocked and am using Koodo now!
I rooted the phone last nite using Odin 307.zip & CF-Auto-Root-xxxxx-etc.zip
All went well
Question are there any better mods I can use on this phone, can any one suggest some good ones along with instructions on changing the ROM and restoring my setting, and apps afterwords?
A friend of mine is using a ROM that makes the phone act like a tablet, I would like the same for my phone if available, I think it is called Paranoid android
I found a ROM I want to use Called Jedi-X 6.1.2, but cannot figure out how to apply this to my phone, can anyone please give me detailed instructions,
Thanks

Root the device with custom rom before you can do anything on that... There is lot of risky process involved with that...

As of right now i dont think paranoid has a release for the bell galaxy note 2 but im sure they will in time but if i were you i would try out AOKP first...i've found their roms rather amusing but as a pro racecar drive im biased towards performance...im not really a pro racer :good:

Debloated stock ROM that is up-to-date and auto updates?

Hi all, sorry if this is a bit of a **** first post but XDA has been real good to me in the past.... did all sorts of cool stuff with my old S3 based on posts here so thanks heaps for all of that. But I've done a bunch of searching and can't find anything about this question...
I got an S6 yesterday, lost the S3 skiing so my insurance company got me a new phone (score ). Had CM on the old one but battery life was ****, before that I had a ROM the name of which I can't remember but it was bare-bones android, no frills, super fast and battery life was great.
Anyways I'm after a de-bloated stock rom for the S6 that is kept up to date and will auto-update... basically I want a stock standard phone but without all the junk that Samsung threw in. And if it has to go back for warranty, it needs to look legit.
I found an article about a stock T-Mobile ROM with no bloatware (can't link since it's my first post but Googling "samsung s6 debloated factory rom" brings it up as about the fifth result) but it's a few months old and I have no idea if it is still up to date... I also don't know if this is really a 'stock' ROM or what...
Is it possible for me to install a factory ROM that won't void my warranty and will give me a nice clean install of 5.1.1 or whatever the current version is, plus will automatically install available updates?
Thanks heaps.
Oh **** so when my post came up I saw this in the 'related posts' section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/stock-firmware-official-stock-firmware-t3086387
Are these with or without Samsung bloat and can I install as many of these as I like without voiding warranty?

Question About Galaxy J3 Eclipse (SM-J327VZKA, Verizon)

Has anyone been able to get a working root / ROM for the J3 Eclipse on Verizon yet? It would be so nice to be able to remove all this bloatware Samsung UI and apps since the phone isn't all that fast in the first place. It has been years since I rooted any phone so maybe I am just overlooking something, been searching but no luck so far.
From what I can tell, your J3 is identical to ours on Sprint, Boost and Virgin Mobile. Our TWRP may be compatible with your device. @ashyx would know better than I. Hardware wise they appear to be the same. Now software is another matter. Your partitions may be different than ours so I do not advise a flash of our recovery. But it is worth asking those that know more about it. Will depend on whether your bootloader is locked also.
