Ideas? It doesn't even turn on in any way possible (usb plug/charger/whatever). It's just dead.
Also, if they would replace the mainboard, could they then check if the phone was rooted?

Also, there's no other way to fix it except jtag, right? I mean if there was a way, everyone could unbrick them. It's completely dead, the only ''alive'' thing about it is that the phone got a little warm when left charging for some time.

Just tell them the phone wasnt responding for a couple days and then it just stoped working, say the touch screen wouldn't work then I try to reboot it and it wouldn't turn on anymore

They didn't even ask what happened. All they wanted to know was what was wrong with it. Got the phone back fixed now, they changed the mainboard. Cool
Congrats!
Wow! Congratz! I don't think those Service Centres in Singapore would do that. They would most likely try to get to the bottom of things.
I'm sure it would take me months in Brazil to get my phone fixed had the same thing happened to me. I envy you! Lol.

Haha you never know until you try. I thought they would try to find out whether it was rooted or not. Just send it! You have nothing to lose.

Ok so ... my little niece threw my tf on thw floor...it wasnt that bad ..jus a small fall. I checked for any screen cracks. There was none. I thought everything was ok. Later when i opened it up ... my wifi stipped working and there is some.heavy ass LCD bleeding going on. I did everything. Literally everything ....i even banged it ..lol. so my question here is is it a siftware problem. As far as i am cincerned ...its not. Its pretty much hardware. I heard of RMA. so do they charge for RMA and i am rooted with revolver rom ...... i dont think i have any insurance so r they gonna charge mme for RMA. PLS lighten me up with all the details. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
And can u guys help.me.out with unroot to. I dont even know how to use adb or what adb is ...but m.pretty giod at following instructions.
Sent from my hand by installing ANDROID in my brain.
my advice would be try flashing it back to the stock ROM (if possible) and if that doesn't fix your problems, then yes it is a hardware problem... If anyone asks don't mention that it was Rooted & ROM's before when you get it repaired

So are they gonna charge me for te RMA?

Actually it was on a protective case. Tragus...i gues. But it happenes.
Sent from my SCH-R720 using xda premium
you have to pay to ship it to RMA and if they find that it is user damage, they'll probably charge you extra for repairs. As has been said before, try to flash back to stock and see if that solves it and, if not, then RMA it and good luck

you answered your own question, your charging port is damaged. Or cable, or whatever is suppling power to it
I can't read the book...o yeah and my glasses are all cracked.

Yeah could be a number of things but if the charging port is loose I would guess something is not right.

Are you still under the warranty period?
"I am the Bacon Pope"
ya, best bet would be to send it for warranty.
other than that we cant give advice it's like the following things ive seen:
'there's a weird bump on my arm, what could it be?'
'my car won't start, what's wrong with it?'
'my computer blue screens, how do i fix it?'
all of these kinds of questions require diagnosing the problem at the location, it cannot be done online or over the phone or on a forum. i know it sucks and you just want it fixed but there isnt anything anyone can do for you online. I wish you the best with it, hopefully it isnt too expensive to fix.
btw, loved the cracked glasses analogy
Thanks for the help and yeah it was the charging port lol I took it to a guy who fixing phones and its good now.

Updated the phone to the latest PA 10/15 build, flashed SU then gapps. After letting everything settled in, boot into recovery and flashed IX kernel 6.3.6 like I always do after every PA updates, but this time my phone won't boot at all, wont even boot into download mode. Stays on the black screen, won't even vibrate. I tried taking off the battery and plugging it in on the computer and outlet. Nothing works. Its hard-bricked. I sure don't have the money to sent it over for JTAG since I don't get paid till next week plus this is my work phone. WHAT TO DO? WHAT TO DO?
Those USB JIG works from Ebay?

It doesn't hurt to try those usb jigs its only less than 2 dollars plus free shipping. Won't hurt a bit,but knowing those won't ship in for a week or two.
Any other alternative rather than sending it for JTag service?

Build your own jig with resistors today and find out if it works.
Try taking out the battery and plugging it in and putting the battery back in.

I honestly don't know. Before I flashed the PA 10/15 build I normally wipe cache, dalvik, format/system then flash the rom/su/gapps then reboot. After that I just installed InstigatorX kernel, rebooted then went on to a blank screen, never to turn on again no matter what I do.
I have never experienced this on the previous PA build with instigator X not saying its new builds fault, but thats honestly what I did.
I've had my faults of flashing roms on wrong devices before, but I greatly learned from that. So don't think I flashed the wrong kernel since I only have one kernel saved up on my computer and saved on on my device sd card.
Had your phone been acting funny beforehand? Seems like you did everything right, and others are running the 10/15 PA build just fine. You might have had one of those wonderful fluke bricks...
Sounds like a bad kernel flash. That's usually what bricks a skyrocket.

Is there a counter for that? Fix? or just JTAG is the only solution?
If you're hard-bricked, JTAG or warranty are the only ways out.

Never experienced anything unusual and I know I did things right. Only weird funny things that happen to my phone is a few screen flickers on the previous build and I used build.prop to smooth those out. And on PA 2.15 my phone will occasionally randomly shutdown, but gets back on within seconds. I never OC btw. Always keep on stock frequency.
Can I lie to Samsung about the device not being rooted?

I pretty much told them I did the ICS update then my phone won't turn on from there. And that I barely bought the phone from Craigslist yesterday.
They believed it just a little scared if they found out that my phone is rooted and starts to charge me restocking fee or whatever they do.
This what they told me
Arwyn: Please hold while check the warranty details.
Visitor: ok
Arwyn: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.
Arwyn: Thank you for holding.
Arwyn: I see that device is in warranty till March 5th, 2013.
Visitor: awesome
EDIT: This Arwyn Samsung tech support really something
Arwyn: Are you using the same charger and the battery that came with the device?
Visitor: yes its all oem
Arwyn: Do you see any error message on the device?
Visitor: none
Visitor: Like I said the phone does not turn on at all
Visitor: soft keys don't even light up
Visitor: no vibrations, no boot screen, no boot animations or anything
Arwyn: What do you see on the device screen?
OK NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME TO SEND MY DEVICE FOR SERVICE AND REPAIRS COVERED BY WARRANTY. IS THIS A GOOD IDEA TO DO? SINCE MY PHONE IS COMPLETELY ROOTED, HAS A ROM AND CUSTOM KERNEL. LET ME KNOW PLEASE BECAUSE THIS ARWYN PERSON SAID THEY ARE GOING TO DIAGNOSE WHAT CAUSED IT.
I don't think its a huge deal. Just send it in.

Are they asking you to send it in without issuing you out a replacement device or to send it in once you receive a replacement device? If its the first option it doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Sounds like they might actually check it out.

Samsung never gives you a replacement device. They will just flash a new firmware to it. If they can't they'll give you a new phone. I'd do it if I where you.

1. Stop shouting.
2. Just do it. Worst thing that can happen is they say no. That said, if they can't get the phone to boot, they'll just send a refurb. If they can get it into download mode, they'll just flash the new firmware and wipe your tracks. Even if they do somehow see that it was rooted (i.e., they boot it into the OS), they'll just tell you that the warranty is void, and the repairs will cost X if you choose to go ahead with them.
Well I sent it in this morning and see whats going to happen from here and then. Hopefully it all goes smoothly.
ok i pulled a noob move and went to flash the wrong rom on my gs3, i got the error 7 msg which im pretty sure means its a rom for a different model, prolly i900 or whatever but i didnt reflash my old rom like an idiot and clicked reboot phone, BOOM hard brick! when i take the battery out and plug it in to my computer my LED notification comes on RED but other than that its a pretty paper weight. it will not turn on for anything tried all button combos im thinking i can buy a little usb jig from ebay, but i dont know if it will help me. Do i need to take it apart and like force the thingy inside it, i think its the internal SD or something please help, i feel so retarded. HOW TO UNBRICK VZW SGS III!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't think the jig will help here. Sounds like you'll need JTAG. Its about 60, but you gitta send your phone off for repair.

Yeah EdwardPace, use that link to MobileTechVideos for a Jtag. I also pulled a noob move and had to get mine repaired. Took about a week but my phone is back and in perfect working order. Sounds kind of expensive but compared to having to buy a 600 dollar replacement, it's well worth it.

No, it will not bypass the need for Odin. All it bypasses is the need to hold vol down+home while powering on.

Ok guise, I'm in some serious need of help here.

Now my Nexus gives no signs of life, isn't recognised via adb, can't get into fastboot with hw buttons or anything at all. What options am I left with?

Sending it to Google.
Next time you should probably be more careful about what you do to a $350-$400 device, eh?
So any kind of hardware intervention wont really help me?
I won't be sending it to Google, since I'm not from the US
What can a qualified service provider(not really sure if that's the correct translation) do for me?

Are you in Windows or Linux? If Windows, is there nothing listed under "Other" devices? Also, can you try running Linux and doing an lsusb to try and find the device?
This guy (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2347060 flashed the wrong image on his n4 and was able to recover using the process he outlines in the post. Perhaps this would work for you too (it might be a long shot since your computer does recognize fastboot), but hey, worth considering. Good luck.
After a gazillion tries, managed to get my phone into fastboot.... Don't ask how, because I simply don't know...
Seems like that at least some of the time my phone was also in some sort of bootloop or sth, because 60% of my battery is gone.
Whatever it may have happened, the issues are sorted out and I can continue with flashing....the right kernels hopefully.
EDIT: tried it again and can confirm - I can only get into fastboot when all these criteria are met:
- phone is turned off
- press and hold down the both VOL buttons
- continue holding them down and plugging the phone to a PC(ADB installed of course)
Hope this might be helpful to someone.
