I've got a T-Mobile HTC Sensation 4G with the latest Android Revolution ROM 6.6.2.
After I flashed the ROM the phone last weekend, the phone has horrible sound distortion when playing Gun Bros (lag, crackling, echoes, and distortion). However, this only happens when playing the game with SFX and music both turned on. If I turn either off in the game's settings, the sound is great and its just as it is normally. But the moment I turn on both SFX and music, the sound just starts acting up again.
I have also noticed that the sounds start distorting for some songs I have on my SD card when playing over my car's stereo via Bluetooth. I am suspecting something isn't right with the kernel. I have Boot Manager on my phone, and when I boot into Bulletproof 2.2.1 with that ROM's kernel, my sound works awesome. Something isn't right with Android Revolution ROM. Anyone know where to go and troubleshoot this problem?
ARHD gives you a few options for what kernel you install. Which one are you using? Stock? SebastianFM? Faux? If it only goes bad when playing Gun Bros I would imagine it's not fully working with ICS (like wifi calling, etc). Playing songs from sd issue sounds like an sd tweak not working right, but I personally have never had a perfect experience playing stereo sound from BT with any device.
im also having probs with Gunbros sound although it started when i was on arhd 5.5, im also experiancing mega lag and hangs with gunbros 5.5 was playable but now i have upgraded to 6.6.2 its not playable at all will changing the kernel help ? im currently using faux123, is this a arhd prob or gunbros ??
Maybe a Problem with BeatsAudio ?
Ok after playing about I have solved the freezing and lagging issue with gun bros, I set the min CPU to 600 ( was 323 ) and gun bros played perfect, it seems the system or game won't increase the CPU speed automaticly although this hasn't fixed the sound prob

Seems like the sd card issues and wifi turning on by itself are HTC related. They have released a patch which Mike1986 will likely include in ARHD 6.6.3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24853373&postcount=65628
SD cards weren't properly being recognized (32gig cards showing up as 3 gigs available) and the wifi/mobile network turning on by itself seems to be an HTC bug also (as well as words being misspelled ).
Can't blame Mike1986 or ARHD if the source from HTC is flawed.
If you have to set the cpu clock min to 600mhz to get it to run properly then the os is mistakenly scaling down to the min cpu clock-in your case 323mhz-then it sounds like an issue with the app. I would try the default kernel also and see if the problem persists at default clock speeds/config for Gun Bros. If the problem persists then it's definitely an app issue.
Just out of curiosity, what is the cpu scaling/governor set to? On Demand? Power saver? Performance? The power saver setting may cause the issue you have also. If on demand isn't doing it's job maybe test it at performance.
It was set to on-demand ill have a play with the different scaling options at some point and see what happens

i am also having such problem
I have tried the stock kernel during install, and I have also flashed both faux123 and the Bricked kernels for ICS. None of the kernels made any difference, the sound was still poor with Gun Bros playback. I am starting to speculate that it may be an ICS issue and not a kernel problem.

okay, I notice that when i install either SetCpu or no frills i get random reboots on my nexus s. I tried finding a stable frequency to run as a daily driver and they all work really good but every now and then i noticed that i get random reboots. Right now I am using Infinity version 1.3.0 with a baseband version I9020 build number GRJ22. I know when its about to reboot when the screen either freezes or i can hear a constant skipping and then eventually shows the google screen. It happens more often when i plug in headphones or use a 3.5 mm jack to my car. Ill be playing a song and then out of no where it will start skipping and then reboot. I tried lowering the cpu but still does it. I always leave the gov scale at ondemand. Can someone please school me on what im doing wrong and a fix for this issue. I like to use the overclocking apps becasue it does make the rom much faster and snappier but dont want the random reboots lol. Please help =(
What freqs are you using when oc'ing?
My ns will reboot randomly at 1400Mhz, but at 1300 it runs stable. This happens when using both smartass and ondemand governors with a netarchy kernel.

I know what you mean because mines reboots all the time on 1.4 and not so much on 1.3 but still does every once in a while but more often when I plug my headphones in? It makes that skipping noise and then shows the Google screen? Any idea on how to fix this? Have you encountered this problem on your ns?

Dude its simple, you are not stable at those frequencies, either back down the OC or increase the voltage (you can use proton voltage control from the market)

I've seen it skip while watching video and I had to pull the battery, then change the freq back to 1300. Each phone tolerates overclocking differently, and you have to find the stable speed through trial and error. Or maybe try different kernel/rom..
Hey guys I just got a brand new sgs4g from tmobile yesterday after having constant problems with my mytouch 4g, they switched them out for me. I feel like this phone is superior or equivalent in almost every way! Except one major feature.
I flashed last night with bionix, overclocked to 1.4 including fugu tweaks, and deleted fota files properly.
My only problem is that about 5 minutes into playing music (which is on my sd card) my phone freezes, music stops playing, and the phone heats up pretty fast. The only way to get out of this is with a battery pull. I've tried the stock playing and poweramp both with the same result. Both happen at the same exact time, which is 5 minutes give or take. I really need this feature I'm a heavy music listener and I can't live with a phone that can't play music properly! Every other feature works great so I'm sure I flashed right as I followed all the guides "to the T".
Hopefully somebody has the answer or fix to this! Thanks all.

Try it without the overclock of cpu. just to see if that might be the problem. if it is, that'll mean that your voltages might not be set right on the overclock. or have you altered your minfree on the phone? or a task killer perhaps?
I guess I could give that a try, I'll report back. I don't know what minfree is so I don't think I could alter that. I'm used to flashing HTC phones, I just literally learned everything on this phone yesterday.
Hi, I've noticed with ICS Roms the video playback is very jerky and low quality compared to GB which could play the same video files smoothly. I am talking about a 720p movie but I get the same thing with the recorded videos from the phone's camera.
Any ideas as to why this is and how it can be improved?
I'm currently running Insert Coin 5.1.1, Sensation XE, latest firmware 3.32.
PS I've also noticed the fruit ninja seems kind of pixelated on ICS so i'm guessing it's a general graphics issue with the whole OS.
even i am on the same rom........and i noticed that while playing video the screen gets dim itself even when on full brightness and auto brightness off
Is the force gpu turned on in dev settings? I personally think its equal if not better.. (also talking 720p mkv's)

I just tried forcing GPU, didn't help much if at all.
I remember watching the same movie when I first got my phone and looking at the quality in awe, now that I'm on ICS I'm disappointed.
Hopefully someone will know how to fix.

Been using VI ICS for a while now and watched a few mins of Cowboys and Aliens and Transformers3 without issues.
For me, I think playback is a bit smoother than GB. Could be a placebo though lol.
I was just browsing around and saw that theres an app called System Tuner that tells you if the second core is running...found out that the second core on my phone was disabled!
I enabled it and success! my video played so smoothly it was beautiful once again
So it's probably a kernel issue rather than ICS issue. (can't remember whether i chose OC Kernel or Stock)

Well that's definitely not normal.
But it's not guaranteed to be a hardware problem. Something could be overworking the CPU because of software problem.
The first thing to do is to check if you have a rogue app that's overworking the system continuously.
Or your kernel could be set to run at max 1.6ghz constantly. Try to dial that down a bit and use a scalable processor speed to give the CPU a break when it's not needed. There's very few reasons to run at 1.6ghz continuously.
It could also be fixed with a different kernel. (Or caused because you have a wrong kernel for the ROM, though you'd be more likely to have the ROM not work at all in that case) Try switching kernels and seeing if you have better results.
And if all that easy to change stuff fails, flash a different ROM and see if you get better results. You might even try wiping everything and reflashing your current ROM and starting fresh.

my cpu is in 1.5 ghz. default
latest bricked kernel
HTC sense is a battery drain. Turn of your GPS, auto sync and turn down the brightness, brightness reduces the overheating by absolutely loads. Buy an extended anker, saner or chichtech battery.

Hey,
do you also have reboots, when playing openGL games on ICS? I tested an old Gingerbread Rom (1.50.401.1) and havent had any reboot about a week! Did someone also have these results or are there any fixes for this? I found nothing in this forum.

Hey,
I did some further research now:
I tested following ics Roms:
CM 10.1 from albinomen with 3.33 and 3.32 firmware
Official CM 10 nightly
Official CM 9 stable
latest stock ics ROM without root (installed via ruu)
All roms are working good on normal use (Facebook, whatsapp, etc.)
But when I play a game that uses OpenGL (I think nearly all good looking games use it) the phone gets hot and after a while it freezes and reboots then. Sometimes it reboots about 5 times directly after the crash (maybe cooling down). I don't have overclocked nor undervolted.
I thought my phone is damaged but then I installed an gingerbread ROM and don't have any reboots so far (phone gets hot but doesn't reboot). The only thing anoying me on gingerbread, is that you can't pull down the status bar on the lockscreen (or is there a way?). Has anyone else got this experience or do I really should send my phone to HTC?
Best

How old is your phone? Not each phone is equal. Maybe the issue is not opengl related. If you play games and the phone is getting hot and reboot at last, it maybe be hardware related. Have you try do undervoltage a little bit such as -25mv or -50mv which is almost safe for most of phones. Or you may try to lower the CPU frequency a little bit when play games via system or CPU tuning software.

Hi,
I bought my phone about 1,5 years ago. I tried underclocking (1000 Mhz and 800 Mhz) and undervolting. I bought a new battery (anker). I would say somthing is damaged, but why is Android 2.3 running without problems?
