Trying to install new kernel with cm 7.0.2-best kernel? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hey there, trying to get a few answers on kernels. This will be my first time flashing one and I'm going for performance (mostly the crappy battery life with cm7) and want to hear about good results from some kernels you might be using. Quick responses to this thread would be epic!

MIUI is by far...the smoothest snappiest ROM. Just no bluetooth. if u dont use bluetooth this is the ROM for you. Really the only 2 choices are Infused and MIUI and then there are some other mumbo-jumbo ones that half work......

Honestly, I didn't like MIUI, i thought it looked pretty childish IMO lol You should also consider Dlev Rom. Trying them all out wouldn't hurt either, everyone has their own opinion...
So far, my personel best experience has been with Serendipity VII.
MIUI...S7...CM7 have been my favorites . Running MIUI and have to say it is my number one choice.

yeahhh ive seen a bunch of people that like miui, im gonna try them all this week to see... thanks
DLEV is my favorite. I had infused until gtg left. And miui does look a lil' kiddie. What I love about fleck is the smoothness. It blazes! And if you apply 99 tweaks and S.A.S. on top of it, it becomes insane. If you like benchmark #'s I consistently get 27500.

Personally, I'm running Infused with Entropy's kernel and a bunch of custom CPU settings. My phone is blazing fast - just no HDMI out as with all GB ROMs so far as it seems.
Everyone's gonna have their own preference. Get familiar with flashing and start playing with different ROMs. The only way you'll find your preference is by trying.
Personally for me, I prefer battery life over performance (such as HD video displays, high mem-usage games, etc) so I like Infused for that. I get roughly 26 hours on a charge with JuiceDefender and moderate usage...
Good luck!

Hi.
I think that if you want so good batterylife as possible, it all depends on what ROM and kernel you are using together.
In my opinion Matr1x and GlaDOS 2.9 are probably the best, and you should try one of them, or why not try one for a week, then try the other and then deside.

No, just kidding, but it is with a c. I think you're totally right! I prefer Matr1x, but GlaDOS belongs to one of the best kernels as well!

I'm very surprised at this, given Pete's propensity to tweak the baked in kernel dramatically to improve both performance and battery life. I'm getting great results of both using his kernel.
Saying that, Steve Garon's plays very nicely with Pete's ROM. Either leave ondemand and deadline scheduler.
Matr1x is also very good. Same there, or use lazy for decent battery life.
As for what settings. It totally depends what you have going. If you got 25 different news widgets sucking data like there's no tomorrow, then yes, you;re going to see crappy battery life. Tell us what you;ve got going on and we'll try and help.
Well I just turned sync off most Google stuff aside from Gmail and twitter sync is off and other stuff I am not all sure what is and isn't off or on
I can almost sit back and watch my battery tick down ward
Is there like maybe an extended battery aside from the one in box can buy to assist n more juice

Hey guys, I've got a new Double shot on the way and hopefully I will be able to root it, with that said, what the best gingerbread based AOSP ROM? if there are a few tweaks for battery life etc, even better. I just recently got interested in what
I could do with the DS and have been carefully reading up on how to root, anyway

Sorry i havent posted my source yet. I got it going but there are a few compiling errors when i attempt to recompile it from my github. Ive got it flashed on my DS i also got it OC to 1.942ghz Max Stock Voltage. Its pretty stable. But i am noticing some lag here and there on default speeds (1ghz max 192mhz min). It could be any number of issues. Im going to attempt a few patches from linux site. Right now the kernel is on 2.6.35.10. I will update it to 2.6.35.14. I think i fixed the battery drain issue and foursquared works on my end. So overall im pleased.
That's amazing thanks so much
Just my spare change.

Nobody can tell you which Kernel will work best for whatever ROM you wish to use it for because even though we have the 'same' phone, they are not all equally built. What may work with amazing battery life and performance to one person, might be terribly sluggish with terrible battery life for the next person. The only real way to tell which ROM+Kernel combo works best for your phone is to try every Kernel you think your phone 'likes'. Whether we all want to admit it or not, that is probably the best way.
Hope this helped, Good luck!

Are there any kernels that work with CM7.2 RC1 that both allow for OC/(UV) and don't completely break the accellerometer?
I have tried Trinity and Faux. I would really like to get back to ridiculous battery life from this extended battery pack.

Trinity Kernels
I recently installed the Trinity Kernel and I don't really feel like I see a difference in my phone. I feel like my battery has shown no improvement. I installed the ti5 one but maybe I'll try the ELP one instead to see if I get anything different. I'm really looking for longer battery life. I used the phone theses days for about 30min of music a day (subway ride) and browsing here and there. Turned all syncing and app notifications off.
Check out the attached photos. I've seen screenshots of people with bar graphs showing their device at the top way ahead of everyone else.

[Q] [ROM] Ethereal 1.2

hi everyone,
this is actually directed to Jscott, regarding the ethereal last build 1.2
my question is:
I was using your stock at&t gb with root and cwm.
specifically your option 3 in the threar you posted over in development,
a few days ago ive been using the ethereal rom v1.2
ive been experiencing some differences vrs the stock gb uclb3.
is it possible that battery life is shortened with your rom?
could this be because of the kernel change? (stock has entropy's dd, ethereal infuzion core a)
lets assume kernel could be the cause, is it possible to flash entropys kernel into the ethereal rom? would it affect its performance?
lidroid toggles work partially in some cases, like flashlight wont turn on sometimes.
can the rom have issues regarding the response of the screen, in some cases it seems to fail to respond. have to push my finger a lil bit more to the screen.
im very new to this area of flashing roms and stuff. just wanted to say ethereal is very cool, you did a very nice job with this! thanks!
Since you directed your question to..the op of this ROM, question relayed....

Glad you're enjoying Ethereal. I'll tell you a little "secret". Ethereal is Option C from the Odin UCLB3 packages I put together. A few images and graphical values have been changed to make it look more custom, the launcher has been changed to AOSP, and lidroid toggles have been added. If lidroid toggles get a little wonky, as they have from time to time in most custom roms, a reboot should clear things up. As for battery use, I've had about the same for both stock and Ethereal. Most have reported good battery stats on the rom, but your mileage may vary based on how you use the phone and what apps you use. You may notice a slight difference when using Entropy512's daily driver kernel, as it was designed to provide good battery life. You can flash it with this rom if you would like to test. If you aren't comfortable flashing kernels, you may want to give Zen Arcade's Infuse Toolkit a try. It gives the option to try different kernels.

your response much appreciated!
can I flash the kernel same way as in the post you made about using different kernels?
it's impressive it is option c. in performance they have alot of difference, ethereal has no lag whatsoever.
thats why I was asking if I change to entropy512 dd from infuzion, would that affect ethereals performance?

I personally get good performance with Entropy512's daily driver and Ethereal, and you can use any of the kernel flash methods (easiest being SGS Kernel Flasher from the Play store).

I've changed the kernel with sgs kernel flasher, gonna give it a shot how it goes. Where can you see what version of kernel the phone is using? I've tried in settings/ about phone, but that doesnt seem to change. Im not a heavy user like gaming and alot of texting, I just feel, what would you consider good battery life?

You can see the kernel information in Settings / About Phone. The kernel info is the same for both Zen's Infusion-Z and Entropy's Daily Driver since they are based on the same kernel. For battery life, I can get about a day and a half if I hardly use the phone. With moderate use, I have to plug it in when I go to sleep each night. That's about as good as I get for battery life on stock, on UCLB3 based custom roms, and on CM9. This is with keeping the phone in airplane mode and with wifi on when there is bad cell reception. This phone eats up battery when it searches for cell towers and can't find one. I also keep my screen as dim as possible, unless I'm outdoors, keep GPS off unless needed, and keep auto-rotation off unless needed. If I have a day where I use the phone heavily, and the screen is on for several hours at a time, I get about eight or nine hours, but top it off at work or in the car to make it through the day. This is pretty average for most modern smart phones.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah thats right, everything is working quite alright with the kernel. seriously congrats on this Rom, works pretty damn good, i like how fast it is compared to the stock touchwiz based rom.

Yeah, I've seen this also. The only way to make that not happen is if I go in and change the remaining stock icons to match the ones that I've already modified. I'll get to that eventually.
