Need an AT&T LTE device and its either this or the Note. I was going for the SkyRocket HD but it seems it might have been axed. Should have been released by now. Is this phone still hot? I had the Original Galaxy S II but decided I wanted LTE and a bigger display. Pros and cons of buying this phone?

I'd at least wait until next weekend (4/22). Looks like AT&T will be releasing a few phones (like HTC One X). T-Mobile is also supposed to be getting its G-Nexus on the same day... hoping this means AT&T will be getting skyrocket HD (its version of the G-Nexus). I've been holing out for the Skyrocket HD too. The lack of info. is very frustrating.
Here are some random thoughts as I'm writing this:
- Would have already bought Galaxy Note, but damn that thing is so big. Sitting at home, I'm like yeah, I should get it. Run by the local AT&T, and look at in person again, I'm like, Jesus, can't even work it with one hand.
- Latest rumor of April 22nd release for HTC One X... wow, pretty phone, nice specs. Wait, only 16GB internal storage & NO micro sdcard support... WTF!!! Really??? Well with 8gb of music and a least 1 or 2 nandroid backups at any given time, that's a no go... shame, b/c I would have got it.
- Galaxy SIII... yeah, sure, no brainer... stupid U.S. carriers, you know that they won't be releasing till November, like last year; even if it's released worldwide this summer... sorry, but I'm not waiting another 6 months.
- Skyrocket HD.... umm perfect, scren size = 4.65 = big, but still able to handle with one hand. HD screen, nice specs, I want it! WHEN THE ARE YOU RELEASING IT AT&T?!?!?!

Your right. It would make sense for them to release it with the One X. I wonder how much the SkyRocket will go for off contract?

Skyrocket is the best.
HD one will just eat up battery more and same thing anyway.
Note is to be to be a phone, get it only if you wanna be cool, new Iphone 5 will be just like the Note.
But by the specs. Skyroket is the best

Skyrocket HD has a larger battery than the original Skyrocket to accommodate the larger screen size and HD screen... at least according to reports back at CES in January anyway.

That's the phone I want. Other than a larger display and larger battery how else is this phone different? Same processor right? So we can flash the same roms for the old SR?
Agree very right

Supposedly ATT gets the Galaxy Nexus soon. Have not seen any indication on how soon.
The HTC One X comes out this or next month. It's a great alternative to the Skyrocket. I would still choose the Skyrocket over it though, based on personal preferences. Would be a close decision though.
If it were me, I'd wait four weeks to see what will be released. If the Skyrocket HD gets released, then I'd choose that one. Then the Galaxy Nexus, then One X.
No sense waiting for the SG III because even if it's released next month by Samsung, you won't see it available from ATT until October/November/December time frame.
If you like theming and custom ROM's then know that it always takes several weeks after a phone's release before you get anything decent. Maybe a month or two before you get a nice kernel.
Same for cases and accessories. Though these come a bit quicker.

See, I haven't seen any reports on AT&T getting a G-Nexus. From everything I've read or seen, the Skyrocket HD is supposed to be AT&T's version of the G-Nexus... screen size being the same and all as that of the G-Nexus.
If it were in fact true that AT&T is getting a G-Nexus (which I'm not saying it is or isn't), then that would be really cool, since the Nexus line always gets the latest updates, little to no bloatware, etc.
Like I said a above, T-Mobile is supposed to be releasing their version of the G-Nexus next weekend (4/22).... hoping that AT&T will release something else to compete with it, other than the HTC One X; which isn't a bad one in and of itself... I just can see the reasoning for not allowing a micro-sdcard????
If you need a phone now, the skyrocket is great. The note is to big and I suspect for me at least the HD version may be to big.
I havent had any issues with the Skyrocket and the development is very active if you don't want to wait for Samsung to roll out ICS.
Just my .02 worth.

Yeah, who knows. There is no official confirmation. Just rumors from people "high up" or something I guess.
http://easternmorningherald.com/att-may-possibly-release-galaxy-nexus-variant/123917/
If ATT does release a Nexus and it has 1.5ghz procs and 32gb internal, I would get it over the Skyrocket.
You can keep chasing that next-greatest-newest phone release all year, but the Skyrocket will still kick ass. A month after you buy whatever you choose, something newer and different will be out anyways.
Development has only recently begun to pick up steam on the Skyrocket, but things are blowing up in a big way right now. CM9 rumored to be coming soon, and other aosp goodness, if you care about that sort of thing.
I'd wait maybe a couple weeks longer to see if AT&T is really going to release the Skyrocket HD. If not and you buy the current version of the Skyrocket then you'll still have a 30-day window to exchange it for something different (minus a small re-stocking fee).
Oh, and I think the Note looks like a lot of fun--I might get one just to toy around with actually--but that device is just too damn big to be a phone for daily use (for me, at any rate,)...
I was seriously debating a brand new Skyrocket for $200 vs. the $100 Vivid and $100 LG Nitro HD a few weeks back (2 year contract costs) and was struggling with the pros/cons. For me it was relative value for the money plus custom ROM support, etc.
ATT had a refurbed sale that made up my mind for me. I picked up one of the Skyrocket refurbs just a couple of weeks ago for $20. I don't think I'd be able to do anything close for the other up and coming phones that might be interest to me.
If you're talking a new price of $200 for a Skyrocket vs $300 for a HTC One X or the Note or whatever else then I'd say I'd have to think long and hard about it.
skyrocket
i have had the skyrocket sense December and its a nice phone there are some issues with it of course(all phones have some issues). the two biggest that annoyed me are the checker-boarding on stock browser (using dolphin hd and liking that browser right now). then there is Bluetooth issue where u can't make the call from the bt. u can use one just not start it from the bt. now i don't know if the note has the same issues i have not looked into it. i have talked to alot of pp that have the note and they all say the phone is not to big after using it for about three weeks ur mostly used to it. the reason i wouldn't get the note myself is the lack of side holster. i can't put my phone in the pocket i carry to many other things in there for work. the note has cases that fit it but i have yet to see a side holster big enough to fit it(hell the skyrocket barely fits most side holsters. i personally would wait about three weeks and see whats comeing out then if u have the ability to wait now that is only if u want the top of the line. more phones come out all the time and the skyrocket will have a better phone come out this year but if u can't wait and u don't mind that ur phone is going to be outdated soon i would personally get the skyrocket.
I too have been waiting for any concrete info on the Skyrocket HD. I only set my sights on that after waiting the past months hoping to hear the Galaxy Nexus would be on AT&T. Once they announced the Skyrocket would have the same screen as the Nexus I figured there would be no way they would bring the Nexus to AT&T.
Course then again if the HD ever does show up they will have 4 phones with almost identical internals, why not add a fifth?
My Sky
I an very happy with skyrocket, plus the custom ICS roms are really starting to pick up a lot of steam.
After playing with the Note at the store I can honestly say that I don't want a device like that. It's freakishly too big. After playing with the SR in the store, I can say that it is the perfect size but I would be open to a small increase. I am coming from an iphone 4s and getting more sick of it each day.
I had a phone with a 5 inch screen (Dell Streak) and it was just too big, IMO, for everyday use. The SkyRocket is a good size for me.
I got the SR refurbished for $20 and really like it.
There is always a new better option that will be out soon.
Another thing to consider is the OS. I'm pretty sure the Skyrocket HD will be Gingerbread (unless this delay is due to them trying to put ICS on it), whereas the One X will ship w/ ICS. You would probably be happy w/ Gingerbread, but there are those who have to have the latest software.
I've got the Skyrocket, Vivid, and my trusty Atrix. The Skyrocket is my favorite out of them. My ONLY complaint is the AMOLED screen and the slight "ghosting" you get with the lines. The Vivid is just clunky and heavy, can't stand the stock UI and has been my least liked Android device, but the screen is amazing. And of course the Atrix that's always fun to use for a few days just to change the pace
Honestly if I were in your shoes I'd wait for the Skyrocket HD. But if you can wait you could try Costco for a cheaper price if you're in the US, scored my Atrix there for $.01 (on contract of course) a month after release. And they don't eff you over with that "charge you tax on the full price of the phone" BS either.

time to switch to Android.
Hey guys. I was disappointed with the release of the 4S because I really wanted a bigger screen. So I am looking to buy my first android phone.
I narrowed it down to the SGS2 which runs about $500.00 on ebay. There is an international version i9100 and now the Tmobile version. Both are selling on ebay for the same price, but not sure which one I should buy.
What would you recommend based on your experience?
is the tmobile version really that much better? I know it has a bigger screen than the 19100 but I think 4.3'' is good enough coming from an iPhone 4 so I wouldn't consider the bigger screen a factor.
I read an article on Anandtech that praised the i9100 over the Att version, but with the Tmobile version at the same price I have to wonder if I should buy that or the international.
I am on At&t. (Can the tmobile version be unlocked for Att at this time?)
Also, since there is another phone coming out, the "prime" I was wondering if I should just wait for that one. The catch is that it may not be available until later this year, and I'd hate to keep waiting, plus it will be on Verizon's network. Will that one have GSM and be unlockable for ATT use?
And lastly, will the Nexus Prime have a Retina display like the iPhone 4?
Thanks for any input!
The Spec and release date on the prime is just a few days away (i think the 18 or 19th) so, wait for that and see if it really is all the leaks claim it to be.
The down side on the TMO version of the sgs2 is the lower resolution of the screen. But if you are not playing games or other video intensive stuff, then it won't be a major deal breaker.
Personally, I am looking at the Samsung Note the 5.3 cross phone-tablet... mostly cause my eyes are not that good and it has pretty high resolution...
Either way wait until the 19th then make your call ...
Wait for prime, it will have 720p HD screen and ICS. Sgs 2 on T-Mobile is a nice phone though.

The Samsung Galaxy SII sure is a great phone. I am in love with it. From a cell phone perspective, it is tops. I focus more on data and using the phone that I do on the resolution which may not be HD on the SG2 but IMO a phone should not have to be relied on as a gaming platform even though others would argue it is equally as important to them that the video and game quality is above the competition. I have a good feeling the Nexus Prime may be exactly like the SG2 but with a better screen resolution and some other enhancements. You don't really lose much......you can get one phone now or play the waiting game for the other.
thank you guys.. Launch is tomorrow night.. but who knows when it will be available. Moreover, will it be unlockable to be used with AT&T,, I mean.. i would have to buy the prime off someone on ebay asking 600.00 for it..
Maybe the Korean SGs2 with HD will come to Att instead of the nexus?
any way to buy one of those korean SGS2?
As the topic states, which would you do and why? Keep using a G2x and wait to see if something nicer than the One S releases in the near future, use an available upgrade and get the grey One S when T-Mo releases it/wait for them to release the MAO version, or burn the upgrade on a SGSII.
Sent from my stock, rooted LG-P999WA using XDA Premium
The SGSIII is probably right around the corner. That's pretty much the only other phone that will trump the One S at the point. So the question to ask yourself is if you want the One S or the SGSIII.
The last thing you want to do is use your upgrade on an SGSII. If anything sell your G2X and buy an SGSII on eBay.
If only HTC would bring out the One S with 32Gb!
I'm still enjoying my original desire but really don't think I could have any less memory than my 16Gb card. I don't want a phone any bigger than the S. So come on HTC Surely they'd fly out the door, seems a pretty perfect phone in just about every other area.

Go for the one S, i mean the specs on the S3 would look promising but the design of Samsung phones are blah.
I went for the One S, haven't got it yet but don't think I'll regret the decision.
The Galaxy S3 is probably going to have an even larger screen than the S2 had, making it more of a competition for the One X - and way too large for my taste (in fact, the One S is almost too large with 4,3", too, but there's just nothing smaller out there with decent hardware anymore). I've always preferred Sense to TouchWiz, and never much liked Samsung phones in general, even though the Galaxy S2 seems to have brought massive improvements in quality and buyer satisfaction over their earlier offerings.
i was originally also waiting for the gs3 but after mwc i was obsessed with the one s. after having i for 4 days now i don't regret the decision. the cpu is extremly fast and the build quality and design of the device is just extraordinary. samsung's devices on the otger side always fail to impress me on those two points... i prevoiusly had a galaxy s which is a good device but in contrast to the one s it felt cheap and looked ugly...

I'm not sure why it got closed either. Lately it seems the mods are a little trigger happy on the lock in the general section. Seems like a perfectly legitimate topic that fits well into the rules of general...
You already know my opinion though . Wait for more info on the GSIII. The Note has been out too long (in my opinion) and therefore the hardware is a little underwhelming. It seems the GSIII or One X will fare better in terms of updates to new versions of Android too, with both being the flagship. Like you said, the GSIII is bound to have a big ole battery, and the One X plagued by the same old battery issues of HTC. Add in the fact that you can't replace the battery, and that's a big problem.
By the way, a good site to look for info on the GSIII is linked below. They add updates quite often at the bottom of the article.

SGS3 vs OneX vs Note?
Here's my take on things:
Note is immediately disqualified since it simply belongs in the previous generation. It can still run almost anything, if not all, apps on the Play Store though.
SGS3 vs OneX! Now here's where we get a hard time! Anyway, I'd go for the OneX because it's already available And since your on T-Mob then you'll be ending up with the Krait version which I actually consider superior to the 4-PLUS-1 NVIDIA chip. BUT if SGS3 comes out with a 32nm or a similar 28nm architecture then it's gonna be a no-brainer for me and go for the SGS3. 40-45nm is simply no match for <32nm chips.
Plus: The camera on the OneX kinda sucks compared to the SGS2, so I'm guessing the cam on the SGS3 will own it.

I have the AT&T note and I love it. Yeah the screen is huge but man it is beautiful. As far as speed it does everything I want it to without any slowdowns. There are OC'ed kernels for it that can really make this sucker fly if you want high benchmarks. For me, it runs perfectly the way it is.
I would love to get my hands on the SGS3 but by the time it land on AT&T store shelves it will probably be Q4 of this year or sometime next year. Remember when the SGS2 came out? That phone hit the Asian and European market well before it hit the states. And when it got here it kinda lost its luster.
Lastly the HTC One X. I'm just getting real tire of HTC. The phone is beautiful and comes with some nice hardware BUT no micro SD or removable battery is deal breaker for me. I don't know what they were thinking. Its not too difficult adding these options but they carelessly neglected it.
And please people don't start telling me that 16gb of internal memory is enough. Maybe its enough for you but it's not enough for me. I don't tell you what you want so don't tell me what I want.
Just my 2 cents.

I think it is a matter of timing. If you already have a fairly recent dual core LTE device then the One X will only be an incremental step up. Faster, yes, but not as big a difference as if you were going from a single core phone to the One X. If the S3 lives up to expectations with a new generation quad core, however, it could be a significant increase in performance (final specs yet to be released...).
Problem is we dont know when the S3 is coming out, especially not in the states. If they do announce the release date during their press event on May 22nd it will still be at least 2-3 months before it makes it to the US.
For me, my old Captivate just hard-bricked and I need a new phone ASAP, so I will be getting the One X as soon as it comes out. If I had one of the newer previously mentioned devices (including the note), I would wait and compare.

exactly why I said if I could wait I would. The Samsung Galaxy line has been the leader for the last two years, but HTC is trying to reclaim the throne as the best smart phone producer (so they have something to prove).
The S3 could blow everyone else out of the water, or it could just be in equal running with all the others coming out this year (meaning it would be a matter of taste at that point). "Could" is the key word here...
I have been thinking of buying the Tegra 3 version from overseas it says on most review sites that its compatible with ATT. Dont have LTE in my area so thats not usefull to me. Anyone thought about that option yet.

Tegra 3 sucks. Its already been shown that the s4 beats it. Plus the s4 requires less power. And dont give me the stupid quad core automatically is better than dual core argument either. And this isnt even rated to why this was started. Thats not an option for me. Im nlt going to go shell out 700 for a phone that sucks compared to one i can get for $200

I didn't say it didn't exist, it just virtually doesn't exist. I know your excitement is getting the better of you, but outside of the baseless rumors you hear every other day; nothing about the phone is known other than it's going to be here one day. It makes sense to make a comparison once the specs are officially ripped and posted for inspection.
You don't even know the specs of of the S3 and you have already pre-ordered the One X. You do know the S3 will be annouced on May 3rd right?
Well for me the biggest reason is...... The HTC Vivid. It was released on the same day as the Skyrocket and it has had ICS for over a month.. It was also released 6 weeks later than the S2.
The Sammy Att combo does not like to upgrade very fast.
Plus I always reserve the right to change my mind if the S3 is coming to ATT in May and is totally Bad
Ive had the Captivate and right now I have my Galaxy S II. While I love my GSII, Im tired of Samsung and the same square boring look. Then yesterday, I was able to play with the OneX for an hour and had me completely sold.
Im sure the GS3 has nice specs, but chances are you wont be utilizing them 100% of the time. Ill take the look of the OneX over a "potential" increase of hardware, and instead enjoy the beautiful screen and fast camera.
Im choosing the HOX or S3 simply because Samsung is and already has already taken too long to spill the beans on the S3, its like they are hiding nuclear weapons or something. And also its time for a new phone and I dont feel like waiting several more months for the S3 to be released. And the fact that it takes Samsung/At&t forever and a day to release updates to their phones. Another note I hate about Samsung is that they release multiple versions of their phones like the S2, S2 Skyrocket, Skyrocket HD, etc... lol
Edit: Im still using my old captivate simply because I wanted the S2 but then came the skyrocket and others then came news of the S3 so I couldnt choose until I saw the HOX at MWC then I played with it the other day in the local store and Im completely sold on it now.
I also had a Captivate that had to be swapped out 5 times for all sorts of issues.
The S2 has been great except for the camera buzzing sound(autofocus).
ATT is sending me another one now to swap. It didn't bother me too much,,, But I figured it should work correctly since its going to the family member I took the upgrade from.
For me, I'm tired of waiting for something good. I have been eligible for an upgrade for months... Don't want an iPoop and recent phones just don't do it for me. The S3 could be great, but the HOX is available now (relatively). At worse if the S3 is announced to be available really soon I could always take the HOX back. Plus, my last 3 phones were HTCs...guess I'm a fan of the quality.
Another reason, be it a dumb reason, is I hate their naming scheme. If someone asks me about the HOX I can say it's an HTC ONE X. If they ask about the skyrocket for example I would have to tell them it's a Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket HD. I would hate myself for even having to say it...

Do other HTC phones have all the stock skins? I noticed that while playing with the store demo. I think there were at least 10
I ordered it so I could flip it.
If I do decide to keep the One X, it will hang around till the GSIII arrives.
(unless the GSIII turns out to be a turd)
Gonna be funny if the GSIII turns out to be a monster on the 3rd, then my One X arrives on the 4th...

Keep the HOX and flip the iphone5
i have had the captivate and the note, the cappy was a bug from the start and had slow updates, the note didn't "feel" like an upgrade aside from the screen which as a phone was to big for me i guess as it was a pain. the note had last years hardware and felt cheaply made as well. i'm not saying the h1x will be a dream come true but it is different and i think that is what i need.
i remember my htc pure back in the day and it had great support and updates, and was well built. i have tried all the major brands a chance or two, if the h1x sucks then my next try will probably be a motorola as the atrix was really nice and i kinda miss it now.

You know, that was my intention at the end of last year. (I've been up for upgrade for a long time now) and Apple effed us with the 4S. Then I almost used it on the Note to flip. I'm glad I never got around to it, the 1X is much more exciting...

same here, stupid 4s...
i was going for the nexus but decided to flip the note for the int one x...then s4 stats came out...now i am sitting on almost a grand to buy the h1x for att. i really hope it's worth it, but if not, i have 2 more upgrades this year. it's so nice to have 4 lines and your the only one using them, especially when 2 of your lines only cost 10 bucks each extra and the people using them are giving 40 each, haha!
I haven't been terribly impressed by any Samsung devices to date. Even my beloved Nexus. I detest touchwiz. I think it is completely useless. Sense actually does some useful stuff to Android.
So for me, it came down to, what could Samsung possibly release that would make me change my mind about that? Short of a beautiful device with stock ICS, nothing. And I'd still be torn if that's all they brought. I've had stock ICS for about five months. I love it, but I'm ready for change.
The key points for me are speed, screen quality, design and support. HTC hit a grand slam in my book. My only hope is that devs pick it up and start to play with it.

I feel the exact opposite as you. HTC makes me yawn, (until now) and I *can't stand* Sense. Touchwiz goes away with a 3rd party launcher, Sense invades everything. I've seen the same horrid weather widget since my TouchPro 1 and 2 and Fuze days. Enough already.
What does Sense do that's useful? (I haven't owned an HTC phone since my N1)
Not being a **** or starting an argument, I'm actually interested.

I've been waiting for Sammy/AT&T to release the SGSII Skyrocket HD now for a while (they announced it Jan 9!!) and there still isn't even a date ... I don't like that the HOX doesn't have an SD card slot, but I may end up going for the HOX only because of the timing of the SGSII S-HD ...
And for those of you talking about the SGSIII, if it's announced in the UK May 3rd, take a guess of when it'll be available in the US? Not only will it take months (4+ if the S-HD is any point of reference) to get it here; it'll also be so close to the SGSII S-HD that it wouldn't surprise me if AT&T holds off on the SIII waiting for the inventory of S-HD to sell through (maybe that's what they're doing with the S-HD ... waiting for the current non-HDs to sell through).

It will take awhile for the US carriers to put it out yes, but we can buy the international version the day its released. (Most have done this with the GSI, GSII, and the Gnex)
I'm with you all on all your points, but I still can't take the plunge until i see what Samsung unveils. I mean, it's prior to the US release of the One XL anyway and it isn't like this phone is going to be sold out for weeks. The One XL does look amazing though, either of them is sure to be a huge upgrade over my stupid iPhone 4.

There will be less of a gap between International and US this time around than with the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II.

For me, Sense has more relevant widgets than stock offers. Petty and fully replicatible with 3rd party apps, I know, but that's it for me. Sense, although historically super intrusive and a data/memory hog, visually looks and feels more thought out. Holo (Stock ICS UI) is getting close but not there yet. Blur is also closing the gap but Blur and Touchwiz and all the other custom UIs are still pretty disjointed. And while I love Holo's sort of minimalist and simple design, I have found myself somewhat bored with it. It sounds odd, and I can't really put my finger on it, but I feel a tad bit disappointed for some reason with it sometimes- like I was expecting more nuances and eye candy...
Samsung, in certain areas such as display technology, and their Exnyos Quad Core Processors is unsurpassed. They are not "Perfect" but have as much of a claim to "Best Mobile Phone Available" as HTC does with the One X. Each have their strengths, but I see Samsung as a better device overall, a really close call, and a tough choice since I am, and have been an HTC fanbboy all the way back to HD2, a game changing device, as the first 4.3" large screen device in the US, and one of the 1st Gig Processor's (THE first in a Windows Phone. A device so awesome, I switched carriers to get it.
But yeah, Samsung should team up with an Audio brand like HTC did with Beats, and a get a bit more high end material into their designs (read aluminum, ceramic, etc.) would really sweeten what's obviously top gear gear, LOL! I now have to make a choice between the SGIII or the Galaxy Note, two amazing devices, OR... waiting on Galaxy Note II. Sigh, such a tough situ to be in, LOL. As long as I am daydreaming, can I wish that somehow Samsung (or ANY SOC manufacturer) licks the LTE on Quad Core incompatibility? I need to do more reading to understand why this is so, I mean that the current crop being incompatible with LTE is what it is, but the fact no one is touting a new, compatible quad core/LTE is what I need to understand better, but whatever the reason, it is seriously messing with my mobile nirvana. But for that, the SGSIII might be our next President; it sure would have capabilities beyond the current candidates, that much is obvious. Sigh.
I have an S3 right next to me and its blazing fast, display looks really nice and overall better to have it in person rather than just looking at pics. The audio on this thing is really loud when put on max and the display @720p watching videos is pretty nice as well.
What kinda sux is the box is "black" but the pebble blue model comes with white earbuds, slightly modified one than the skyrocket's, thought it would come with black ones , the white model actually looks nice too.

I love my skyrocket as well. My upgrade wont happen until May of next year, so I will see what samsung has available at that time. Depending period on the release of the G Note 2 which is what I am leaning towards. Also waiting on the confirmation of the nexus models coming out later this year.

Yeah theres really no big reason to get the S3 as the Skyrocket is still a fully capable phone +/- features that we probably won't use a lot yet and knowing Samsung they'll pump out new revisions by the end of the year. Also waiting on that new Nexus model, want to see whats new with Jellybean
My bro and his gf both got S3s last night as their upgrade contract ended, they were both iphone4 converts and they both really like the new phone, mainly because of how big the screen is and the quality of the phone overall, it doesnt feel as expensive as the iphones but they sure beat it in everything else
Might not be the best comparison pic but this is:
Skyrocket vs Iphone4 vs S3
No doubt the iphone will have the most neutral color (IPS). The blacks on S3 is pretty crazy. When we compared whites Skyrocket vs S3, the Skyrocket seemed to have a more "cool" temperature while the S3 was closer to neutral.
Wifi Analyzer, this is AOKP (Skyrocket) vs Stock ICS (S3) so not sure if there are any custom settings thats causing the lighter black.
Another comparison pic of the colors.
Again both are pretty good with colors in comparison but remember the S3 has a higher pixel density as well as a 720p display and... I don't really have a DSLR to get accurate shots so it can be a little bias, just a rough comparison. But you just have to see it in person if you want to see real comparison.

lol, so true
True, but it's not like the consumers (us) are really complaining. Those of us that can afford it, change our phones like crazy. The frequent releases of new Android phones, and better technology in them, also converts more iPhone users

Yes international versions have quad Att doesn't because if the lte chip.honestly I highly doubt that we would actually feel the difference because this skyrocket is super smooth and I'll trade two cores for the lte speed any day IMO
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I would trade LTE speeds for more ram
Most phone apps barely even use more than one thread yet alone 2, quad core would just be overkill. But I do like the S4 chip, its power efficient, fast and runs cool. :good:
Those of us less fortunate than others can't afford a new phone every few months so we have to wait until we can get 2 year upgrades enjoy you're 4.8 inch galaxy s2

Yeah, my area doesn't even have LTE so its kinda useless right now, some areas though have them but I'm also limited with the data plan as I was late in getting one so I have to pay new prices. My bro is paying the same as I am and he gets 2GB data while I get 300mb I'll try to see if they can change me to the old 2GB but paying this much for 300mb is a rip. Yes I'm still a poor college student and I will be eating ramen all this year :silly: . Some people are crazy enough to go with the International version (buy it) and get the $10 data plan (ATT might catch on to this).
And yeah there really isnt any big reason to upgrade as the Skyrocket is a fast phone. The more phones they dish out the better your next one will be :good: For example with computers I went from an i7 1st gen to an i5 2nd gen. 2nd gen run faster per clock, less heat, more power efficient and can OC higher.
3 different versions of the S3 on first release is just silly.
International: Quad Core + Non-LTE + 1GB RAM
US/Canada: Dual Core + LTE + 2GB RAM
Korea's special edition: Quad Core + LTE + 2GB RAM
But overall I prefer the S4 Snapdragon 28nm over the Exynos 32nm. The 2GB of ram helps a lot especially with multitasking and loading videos. Even with the stock ICS it loads about 1.1~gigs of the 1.6gb available which means the phone doesnt always have to stress on clearing the ram as fast as the 1GB versions.
Ya all of that lol

Since you don't have LTE, have you considered T-Mobile? If you're willing to wait and buy a phone outright after it's been out for awhile, you can usually find a good deal (or just get a G-Nex from the play store). From there, their value plans are pretty cheap... even better if you can get in on a family plan. Here in west LA, T-Mo's HSPA+ speeds are actually on par w/ AT&T's LTE.
I'm thinking of waiting for my ETF to get low enough, and then bail for T-Mo (unless ATT improves their speeds and coverage in LA and/or SF). Right now, my family plan is 500 min (total) anytime minutes and 2GB for $55/person. On T-Mo, 1000 min and 2GB = $35/person. That's a $480 saving over two years! The wildcard is how cheap you can get your phone for.

Yeah for where I live right now ATT has good signal but if I were to move then I would probably consider another carrier, when I was living in Gainesville, FL the signal for ATT wasnt that great so most people went for T-mobile, some areas have worse signal. All my cousins are on Sprint and whenever I call them with my cellphone/house phone it takes like 4-5 rings = 1 ring for them so most of the time I pick carriers based on the area After I graduate (in a year? ) I'll probably switch over to another carrier or if I decide to move to another state I'll consider it. :good:
For now I guess I'm okay with wifi since I'm around school/home/public wifi a lot I don't have to worry as much on the data usage. Still going to try to go to the ATT store to see if they can give me the 2GB plan that my bro pays for +$18 while I'm on the 300mb and I pay +$25 hope they'll be lenient since we've been customers since Cingular days.
I am mixed on the S3 honestly. I know that it is a better phone than my Skyrocket, but I am sure the Quad core phones will be out later this year. I keep telling myself to wait, but then again I do not game on my phone at all so will the quad core really make that big a difference? I can only imagine that there will be a lot of great ROMs for the GS3 as well. I have yet to play with a GS3 yet, so I am sure that will help my decision.
