Dude actually read this topic. I could not understand English very well, however, is not very good. Windows / java in the folder "0.jar", "1.jar", said that such files. I install these files by double-clicking to hard reset after a workout he says. Is that everything? The reason to broach this topic, I thought maybe someone can tell me to-read manner by simply.

modifiying s100 ROM

as the title, I'd like to modify the ROM of the S00, I mean i'd like to take the original ROM and add some new software in it so that if i have some problemes with it later, i can reinstall with all my sofwatres and documents. How can i do that pliz ? I'm a newbie...pliz help me !!!
I don't think anything like rom kitchen has been done yet; so far i think the best we've got is big storage hack. I guess there may be some extensions of big storage/extended rom that would work, but I've not looked into it further.

No sorry, there is a sof or sthg for this. My BOSS told me that he saw someone doing this one day but he can't remember which soft it was with. The guy did that on a Qtek 2020. I'm looking for how to do it on a XDA II mini pliz ??

For the Qtek 2020 it's much simpler, as the "Storage" area can be made writable. But it's true, it can be done for the XDA mini also. The procedure was something along the following lines:
- dump the correct portion of your ROM to an SD card - which portion that is I can't remember right now
- copy it to your PC, using ntrw
- move it to a Linux PC, and mount this binary file as a FAT file system
- copy whatever you want into that file system
- copy the binary back to your Windows PC, back to your SD card, and flash it back to your mini's ROM.
This has been described in more detail elsewhere, in one of the threads dealing with BigStorage. You can find it using the Search function. I do not think there's an easier way than that at the moment. Qtek 2020 and XDA mini are just too different.
Cheers

I didn't understand this line...I'm such a newbie so i'd like to have it step by step if possible pliz...and another question : Do you really have to move the binary files to linux ? I have only windows and I don' t like LINUX that much. Can you explain step by step pliz and what is the soft ntrw, gimme a link to download it by PM pliz, so nice thanks a lot !!
ps: and if you can tell how to it on a Qtek2020 it will be very nice too.
Like i said prashanth, it's not really userfriendly yet. It's best not to be a newbie and try something so involved; there's not really much reason to do so anyway. I find it most convenient to make a self installing backup of my working PPC, and Keep it on storage and/or storage card. That way, even if there's a hard reset, everything can be up and running within 3 minutes. However, installing all software from a hard reset, registering all software, sorting your startmenu, setting everything up etc - it's quicker just to backup and restore!

Cab installer utility

Here's the link to a utility I put together to make post flashing customization a bit easier. It allows you to make a recipie list and run the installation at any time, rather than only at first boot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352178
Forgive me if there is already a tool here similar, and feel free to delete this post.
Hope all is well over here, been a while
Cant beat it Matt...Thanks a bunch!!
question.
When you say 'Ensure that the cabs you're installing does not require any user input.'
Does the question where you want to install count?
You know.. when you run the cab.. everytime they ask where you want to install whether the 'Device' or '/Storage Card'.. does this count as the 'input'.
Thanks.

Keep up the good work MATT !!

No, installation path is defaulted to 'device'.
An example: if you run Xpress Mail - it launches into a setup screen at the end. Another is MS Reader.
Most cabs are fine, even if they prompt to reset after finishing. It's the ones with a setup.dll that launches additional controls during installation that messes things up.

As I understand it, when the PreConfig launches, the exe passes a -q to the installer - similar to the windows installer engine being told to run it with defaults and not to report back on the installation completion. With that, I presume it's being told to only use defaults - which is to install to the device.
There may be a way to insert additional commands into the string in the CFT.txt file, such as "CAB: \Storage Card\CABS\BubbleBreaker.cab -a -i \Device" Unfortunately I don't have documentation on the program to know what I can and can't instruct it to do, and how
Awesome Tool

This is awesome!

How to load all programs after hard reset?

Hello!
I will receive my Polaris in a couple of days And I will probably load some new programs into it.
My question is: after a hard reset it will be back to factory settings right?
How do you load the new programs again?
Do you load them one by one, or is there a kind of backupprogram that will load all the programs for you?
Thank you.
And this is a excellent forum

Of course you can use a backup program. The best are SPB Backup & Sprite Backup.
There are some backup programs, but they only store the contact/mail/calendar data... I'm not sure if there is any that backups the programs... the best way is to install everything on the memory card, and backup the shortcut files on the memory card. After the HR you only have to copy those back in the StartMenu folder
Som program dont work whithout registry entries or other installed components, so these won't work whith the method above.
The Activesync, and the Device Center has a list of installed/installable apps that will install those on user request (mass install), but that will still intall them 1 by 1....

If you're getting a sim free polaris, then, it comes with a free HTC back up software and a complimentary Sprite Back up software. You can use either of them. Install either one of them on the main memory but make sure you put your back up on your storage card.
Side note: Load APPLICATION software one at a time and observed the behaviour of your device for a day or so. If it's working according to your expectations then make a back up and install another one.
Thanks guys
And my Polaris comes sim free so hopefully the software I need is included in the package.

There have been complaints about the (old) version of Sprite Backup that is included in the CD of Polaris. I would suggest to install the latest version of Sprite Backup or SPB Backup.
The HTC backup tool is Sprite Backup 5.10 (P3650_BackupTool_5.1.0.b1450_HTC_WWE_20071102.exe)
And the included 'SpriteBackupEnglishPersonalSetup.exe' is the same as the HTC one, but it installs a PC suite aswell.

App or Technique to install multiple cabs?

I am finding myself currently trying different roms lately and each time I have to re install all my cabs...I was wondering if there is an app which can install multiple .cab files ? Or is there some kind of technique I am missing ?
If the above is not possible, is there a way to install a group of .cab files with the new rom installation ? (would that be the auto installer thing I have read about ?)....
If there is no such way to do this, maybe we can work together on something of the like...
please advise

i was going to ask the same question can someone help. i know that for the Android phones there a program that intalls the apk that you want.
check out sashimi. it has a auto mode to install multiple cabs, though i haven't had much success with installing to the storage card. it also has many other features.
there is also UC, i believe. I haven't tried it.
i would be very interested in to know about other alternatives, as well.
I tried the 'vip' thing but it seemed like it worked half way...I also think the one I downloaded was just someone elses which they already setup for themself and left a few of their files in because there were files for 'cingular' and another phone in there as well...
I could only find 3 links related to that vip thing I am talking about and one had the download link the others were just discussions...
Well it depends on what rom you are downloading, if you are going with NRG for example he uses XDA_UC. Basically you create a folder on your sdcard called XDA_UC, place your cabs in that folder and when booting after a fresh flash they will auto install for you. Very easy to do
sashimi. search for sashimi demo on youtube.

Windows phone backup 1.9

Hello,
I'm having hard time to have this software working.
I changed a path yesterday, and now I'm still having this message:
The Specified executable is not a valid Win32 application.
This the message I have after clicking Windows phone 7 backup1.9.exe
There's a REG key somewhere i can remove or any config files? That's a pain! I can't have it running anymore.
Latest zune installed on 64bits windows7.
That's an other thing, I had message yesterday saying that I need zune installed... This apps is not working without zune?
Thanks.

you can try this one. It's based on the same MS files, but supposedly more bullet proof. Haven't tried that yet. My experience with hxkiller's backup tool is that v1.6 works best for me.

I haven't tried it. but with the other one you would need to copy the GUI folder for the backup into your
C:\Users\Hilmar\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update\
folder so it looks like this (with your GUI though)
C:\Users\YourAccountName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update\f52e4344 - 19eO0604 - 7918db00 - d62273cf
When you open Zune it should find the new restore point with the data you created it. see image.
don't forget to hit the Thank you button.
This little software is just perfect. The backup was saved at the exact same path. And I have the available restore point in zune for november 25th
