Yea I saw that. Poor guy got flamed and trolled so hard. But for real, does the audio part work or do I have to do some dremel fun?

I have a car dock. It's pretty much always worked for me. Works on AOKP....
When I was using TSM Ressurection, I had to use the stock Car Dock app(Root Explorer is your friend) and touch the mic symbol in the upper right hand corner to get sound through the dock. On AOKP it just works. Hope you don't use speaker phone though...
Why does speaker phone not work on this? On AOKP that is, does it work with bluetooth mic?
So I got the car dock today. Here is my improptu review
pros:
Awesome that it charges (with caveat) and has audio (with caveat)
Pretty secure once you tighten it
Sounds really really good, even seems like it has an amp in it
Over all, I am glad I bought it for 17 dollars
Cons:
Seems like it requires the dock redirect from the market, no biggie. Works on AOKP build 31
It charges it, but it doesnt pick it up that it is charging, no biggie.
Be careful with it, it seems slightly weak, but I have not mounted it yet in my car because right now its in the shop and my dad and I had to tear out the dashboard to replace an AC part
good to hear. got subs and an amp, and replaced my speaker system and stereo head in my car. I'll probably get a desk and car dock soon. dat bassss

My dad works at Lexus, and one of his coworker is obsessed with cars and he sold me his amp that he had. It has two 15 amp breakers, I forget what brand or model is. Too bad it only supports one sub . But I'd need two batteries for that then haha.

Any recommendations? I see lots of crap on eBay... but I'm looking for something with good sound output and rechargeable battery life, but not sound-isolating as I plan on using it while commuting to work on the bike with the Mez in a pannier or seat bag for safe-keeping.
Take a look at the Sony Ericson MW600.
Its cheap, battery lasts for around 10 hours, rechargleable and you can plug in your own headphones.
I currently use the Motorola S9 HD's They sound good and usually dont have connection issues. think there cheapebr now since there a few years old but dont get best battery life, alternatively the new S10's sound good
Had a pair of the S9's with my Blackberry. Awesome sounding.
Only issues I had was could not carry phone in front pocket as BT connect would fade.
Its been my experience to never buy bt devices on ebay I did that a few years ago and got some gong king look-a-like that had a range of about 3ft and only in line of sight

+1 on the Plantronics Back beat. I like them enough Ive replaced them twice now with the exact same thing (My dog has a fascination with them).
Thanks for the feedback guys... I'll check out the Plantronics.
On a related note... tried to use my old Motorola handsfree earpiece today with my Mez and had no luck. Any trick to getting it to work? Worked seamlessly with my Moto Z6M this winter.

I love the Blackberry Audio Gateway. All it does is receive stereo BT, nothing else, and outputs it into the AUX jack in the car stereo. It powers up and down through the cig lighter and car battery, pairs in seconds virtually every time. Only thing I can maybe fault it for is being overly bass-heavy. And it's fairly inexpensive.
Edit:
here's the link to the Amazon page and the reviews at the bottom. seems legit to me.

Edit 2:
Apparently the link i gave initially turned out to be a bug in buy.com 's system.

for a decent but inexpensive radio, I have the Clarion CZ-500 in my truck.
It does bluetooth hands free calling as well as A2DP profile for audio. If you use an app like Vlingo on your phone, then you can text hands free as well
There are lots of radios to choose from that support A2DP. I'm suggesting one that I use all the time. There are many others. You can pick up a refurb on ebay for less than $100 I would imagine.
It also has a lengthy USB cord (that my daughter uses ) to plug her iPod touch into and the radio will control the ipod's music player. The USB will not charge the Epic though FWIW.
Hope this helps

Stay away from wireless FM. Go inline with the antenna. All wireless is crap. Haven't looked into it, but if you have an input of some sort for a cd changer or xm, there is probably an aux unit that can take advantage of it with a true line in and much better SQ than FM will give.

Does anyone use a stereo bluetooth headset with the S4? I'm a runner and would like something nice to run with. I've seen great reviews on these LG sets that just rest around your neck, but I think those wouldn't be that good for running.

How does that "around the neck" design work for you? Is there any chance of it falling off while running or something?
I use these but the price will probably scare you: http://www.jaybirdgear.com/bluebuds-x-bluetooth-headphones/

pretty secure, doesn't feel like it's gonna fall out cause the wires are short to the earbuds that go in your ears, and the neck thing is rounded so it hugs your neck.

I use the Novero Rockaway & the Jaybird Bluebuds X. i always had problems keeping headphones like these lodged in my ear canal, but with the extra ear piece that is incorporated with the Bluebuds, they have not come out of my ears since using them for about a week now. the sound on the Bluebuds is superior to the Rockaway but not as good as over the ear headphones. I dont do much running but these things dont budge while doing calisthenics and weight lifting.
I'm no runner, I have been using the Samsung hs3000 since my early s3 days and I can say it's one of the best headsets I have tried.
Pairs easily, sounds amazing, and has aptX.

I also recommend the Samsung HS3000, premium build, good audio quality, has apt-x, plus you have the option to use your preferred headset
I also have mw600 and I'm very happy with them. I'm no music quality freak but I did noticed that sound quality is pretty good even with stock headphones I received with mw600. Best thing for me is the ability to plug in any kind of output device which support 3,5mm jack. I've been using mw600 with my PC, MAC, iPhone and Android without any problems.

I picked up a pair of these when I was in Japan, but I think you can get them through Amazon in other countries or on eBay. Comes with a volume slider (I prefer this to digital volume buttons) and the one button does work for skipping tracks (I use PowerAmp). Sound is decent, certainly better than the stock ones, comes in a variety of colors and certainly won't break the bank.

what's wrong with the ones that come with the phone? i end up using them more than my Shure SE535's!
My biggest concern was with something that stayed in the ear when running while having good sound for less than $50, as i tend to go through a set of headphones every year. Ive been very pleased with these from ME Electronics for. Great bass and very clear for the price, but more importantly they stay in your ear.

I have a Sony SBH20, its great. You can use your own headphones with it, although their is nothing wrong with the ones that come with it just a very short cable. It also has a NFC chip in it, so no fussing about with pairing, just tap the phone to the device and it will turn on Bluetooth, and pair immediately. Before I had the Sony MW600 which was also good but the SBH20 has a much MUCH better clip and can actually be attached to your belt, pocket etc, I have it clipped to either my front inside jacket pocket or to my front right pants pocket if I am using a longer pair of headphones. It feels incredibly sturdy, it feels like it will outlive my phone.
Yes those are the tones. I have the tones + or 730 model are these the type your looking for? And battery life is awesome I am charging every three days or so and I watch a lot of Netflix using them and the normal games and talking.

I really like my Tones (730's). Very convenient, great battery life, comfortable, and the controls are easy to reach.
But with that said I mainly listen to podcasts. For music they are mediocre at best, but I would guess most bluetooth headsets are (unless you want to drop a bunch of coin on the Sennheisers - and even then, it's still bluetooth).
I was looking at the tones, but the neckband thing might get annoying..
I play golf so not sure if it might get in the way or maybe come off during my swing... Is there anyway to remove the neckband thing and still work?

I play golf 2. And while I don't listen to music on the golf course, I just put mine on & hit a few balls into my practice net and it is not a problem. It fits under your collar and doesn't really move around much in the swing.
I have the Plantronic BackBeat Go. Very light weight, solid product. It's an in-ear style so it blocks out a lot of outside noise which is great but just pay attention while waking across a street.
Battery life is approx 5-6 hours for me. It could be longer but the unit itself is so small... Where would they put a bigger battery? LOL!
I'd recommend them.

They're ok, but as I said, compared to good wired buds (akg, senn, shure, etc.) they are mediocre at best. But for fifty bucks I wasn't expecting great sound quality.
I prefer the extended highs setting, and wished it didn't always reset to the heavy bass setting at power on.
I really like my Motorola S10-HD headset... It pairs quickly, and eliminates the cords. I find that the headset needs to be at almost full volume most of the time, though, as it is a little quiet. This may be a design choice to keep the battery life high...
