[Q] Cannot connect to PC - HTC Desire S

I cannot connect to my pc or my laptop using different USB cables. It just says charging without any notification or popup of any kind.
Can I do anything to fix this?

have you tried from another PC?
have you ever been able to connect from your PC?
do you have HTC sync installed on the PC? you'll probably find HTC Sync exe on the SD card that came with the phone if not from HTC support site download.
see this LINK where someone else had a very similar issue, only days ago....(although ignore the USB brick parts in this initial problem description....) and just read the help and suggestions that he was offered

Had exactly the same problem with Bindroid ROM final edition. Turns out I hadn't wiped correctly.... After installing another ROM everything was fine.

[Q] Unable to transfer between computer! Doesn't recognize the cable!

The strangest thing happened today when I tried to connect my xoom to my PC to transfer some files. As I connected the cable to my PC I got a message popping up on my xoom saying "USB charging not supported. Use only supplied charger". I tried all of my USB ports, I tried on a Mac and also on a linux box... no luck. I turned the xoom on and off a few times and still the same thing!!! What's going on anyone had the same problem?
USB charging doesn't work, but data should. Have you downloaded the motohelper thing: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
The first one works great for me...

Can't connect phone to computer

I plug in the USB to phone & computer, but it does not ask me how I want to connect (drive, media sync, etc.). I downloaded HTC's Sync software, which should have put the drivers on my PC, but still nothing...
Has anyone had any luck and can share how to get my PC to recognize the phone?
thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, the default behavior is 'Charge Only'. At least that's what my settings show.
Settings > Connect to PC
What do your settings look like?
This is hopefully a simple setting change and not a bug!
Look in your notification bar. There should be a little usb icon thing there. If you click on it a menu should come up with usb options

Got it set as "disk drive" but still nothing. Tried different settings, too, to see if I could get it to connect somehow - nothing. Might try rebooting the pc and phone and see if that does anything.
Should debugging be on or off?

Nope...it doesn't pop up. Trying a reboot of both pc and phone to see if that works. Might try another pc too.

I am unfortunately at work right now and can't help debugging yet.
Have you tried changing USB ports? Also it would be better to have the USB plugged in to the back of your computer. The front ports usually don't work well.
I usually have USB Debugging set to on.
To be honest I haven't actually tried to connect my HTC One X yet to a computer so this is all speculation.
Thanks all. Reboot of both did the trick!

Have you tried another port? Maybe you said so and i missed it, but i would try that first. The other thing i would do is check device manager and see if anything is showing up with the little yellow exclamation point. I had that happen it was showing android device. I google search and downloaded just the Win 7 x64 drivers. Ill put it on my dropbox and share it so you can download and see if that helps.

Maybe it is the USB cable. Do you have another cable from a different device you can try?

Mine was a pain untill finished root. I'd make sure you have the proper HTC drivers installed. That helped me.
Stock USB connections suck.

[Q] Sensation XE PC connection Problem!!

Hi.
I just bought a Sensation XE two days ago, Its not completely new I bought it second hand. Previously used for a month.
Problelm is when I connect my USB cable to my laptop, It does not show any option like Mass storage, htc sync, tether etc.
I didn't notice this earlier until I started the unlocking bootloader process and it was stuck at 'waiting for device'. I've tried every possible thing I could find on the internet and couldn't find any problem similar to mine. Tried changing ports, USB cables even the OS(I'm using ubuntu 13.10) to Windows 8. No luck!!
I'm wondering if its a hardware problem, if so can anyone please confirm me so that I can return it back from whom I bought!!
All your help will be appreciated,
Thank you.

Hi,
In settings/developer options, have you ticked USB debugging?
Yes, I have. I also have fastboot unchecked in power under settings. Problem is that when I plug in the usb cable the notification bar should show usb debugging enabled and the option for charge, disk mount, HTC sync etc but it's not doing except charging the phone without any of the above mentioned notifications.

Hi,
Have you got ADB and Drivers installed?
Do you have windows 7 or 8?
Are you using HTC cable?
Make sure you are not using USB 3.0 slots, or hubs.
Try different slots ,or different PC if you can.
Hi,
Do you know which ROM do you have?

probably you have to install htc sync too

My Pc Won't Recognize Vivo Nex S

Hey guys,
I have an issue that's been frustrating me. I can't connect my Vivo to my pc. I should be fine because I did everything. I uploaded the newest driver (I believe), I downloaded Vivo Assistant to
pc and I turned on USB debugging. When I put on the cable to the phone it does nothing other than charging.
Am I missing something? I'd appreciate any help!
Thanks1
Have you enable under developer setting-select usb configuration-media transfer protocol (MTP)??
By default it's only for charging, actually all the smartphone by default is charging selected and every user must change it to MTP and so pc can recognized it as hard drive.

Yeah, I did actually. My phone is the global version. Can that be the issue?

Just to clarify situation.
Did you do what I've suggested and still your pc does not recognize your phone??
Did you tried different usb cable or different usb port on pc and still nothing??
This has nothing to do with global or any region parameter.
It's simple how every android device works.

See if when you connect to pc there's a message in notification center asking how you want to use USB connection. Select file transfer. You access this notification by sliding down from the top of the phone screen edge.
Also, unlock the phone before you connect to pc.

Yeah, I did what you suggested but sadly didn't work. I have used a different cable but haven't used a different pc. Maybe I should try that.

Remove MTP or your device from Device Manager and give it another go.

Question Phone no longer being recognized by computer. Not even getting a prompt on phone when plugged in.

As the title states, my phone is no longer being recognized by my computer when I plug it in. I've tried multiple cables, multiple ports on the computer, both ports on the phone, factory resetting the phone, uninstalling and re-installing drivers on my computer, booting to Ubuntu so I wouldn't need to worry about drivers. Nothing has worked. I'm not even getting the USB prompt on my phone when I plug it in. It DOES charge but I'm not able to transfer files, adb or anything. ASUS wants me to send the phone in but I don't want to go who knows how long without my phone, plus I don't think it's right that I have to pay to ship it when it's their phone that is ****ting the bed. Could anyone PLEASE help me? Thanks.

If your phone won't connect to the computer using the USB cable, then the FIRST thing most people do you've done, which is switch cables and rebooting the phone (factory reset is extreme but you did that also).
The second thing most people do is install the manufacturer's drivers, which you also did.
The third thing you can do though, is connect the phone to the computer WITHOUT the USB cable (i.e., over Wi-Fi) because that will work even if your phone port is broken and even if the USB cables are bad and even if the drivers aren't on the computer.
Below are screenshots of just some of the ways to connect the phone to the computer over Wi-Fi without any cables, and if you want, you can follow one of my tutorials on the subject.
Hope this helps.

Would I still be able to adb using the wifi method? My main issue is trying to remove the old Google Pay app. Which I'm unable to unless it's through adb.
Just an update. I was, in fact, able to run adb commands while connected using wi-fi. Thank you @GalaxyA325G for your input.

Not sure what to tell you about your signal dropping, but
is the video I used to finally use adb via WiFi.
Have you tried clearing the adb authorizations (in developer options) with the phone disconnected and then connecting? Sometimes a change can trigger the phone to stop recognizing the computer as allowed without treating it as a new connection.
