Try going into Settings- Apps- All. Scroll down until you see Google services framework. Force stop, clear data. Then reboot your phone. Make sure fast boot is unchecked so it does a real restart. After that try the update button... If it works post back.

I did the same thing.
To fix it I backed everything up and did a factory reset. it then gave me the option for the ICS update after this.
it may not be the only answer but it works.

alright so now i am running Revolution HD 3.6.1 on my Sensation and its working fine.... finally!!!!!!
but now i have 2 questions:
1- will i still get OTA updates?? if not then where should i find it??
2- should i flash the RADIO to Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 ???
thanks guys!
1. No, as you're using a custom ROM
2. Yes as it's the recommended radio
alright i will flash the new Radio..... so where will i be able to get the updates??
What were the problems that you were having?

Is flashing a radio dangerous? On my mt4g if you flashed a bad download or pulled battery the chances were that you would brick your phone. Is that true with the sensation?

how am i going to update the android firmware since now i cant do the OTA update ??
right now am running 2.3.4
You just download a new ROM from here when someone releases one...?
Most of the stuff these guys are messing with is leaked stuff, or stuff pulled from other phones that shipped with newer software and its out before the actual OTA is ever even close to coming out. Just check back in here every once and a while and Im sure someone will have something new. Thats half the fun, trying out new things.

When an update releases just run the RUU.exe, it will return you to stock and put you back to stock recovery if you want the ota that badly you can get it, you need to swap recoveries to get ota's. AFAIK.

Just noticed OTA icon on my Sensation this morning.
Does anyone know what kind of update is that?
My phone is rooted, S-Off with CWM 5.0.0.8 installed, but still with the stock ROM.
Should I accept the update or it will mess up my phone?
Thanks,
Tester.
I haven't recived anything. But you can't update, you need stock recovery as well
I would recommend doing this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1228648&highlight=OTA+stock

I'm running the OTA 2.3.4 update and I received the update notification a few days ago. It says it's an update to HTC Music and HTC Listen. I installed it, it went through the processes, I got install successful message but I don't notice a difference.

That is old news, do some search next time.
Actually, there's a 2nd update with the same version number which has a newer radio to the other one - not on OTA yet but is available as RUU
I wish there was some way of temporarily reverting to non-root and S-ON, cause I can't install any of these updates while S-OFF and rooted.
Though there hasn't been a decen't changelog the updated Twitter API, Qualcomm patch, Touch panel drivers, Market v.3 apps availability do intrest me.
Has anyone been able to install the latest update?
I'm still getting a 9.05MB file, same as the security issue update from a few months back.

You could always install the stock recovery, install the OTA then root again. You dont have to S-ON.

Sorry to bother you with this, probably stupid, queston, but how do I install the stock recovery?
I've just restored my first backup I made just after gaining S-OFF, but still unrooted. I've tried installing the update but yea it didn't work, probably because of Clockworkmod Recovery which is still installed.
I've tried doing a factory reset, but that only wipes /data , damnit.

So I have a rooted sensation...no ROM. HOWEVER I just got a system update pushed to my phone from HTC and everytime it starts to install it freezes with the little green guy and a exclamation point in a triangle. You can still get haptic feedback on the touch keys but the only way to clear the screen is to remove the battery. Any advice?

Could also be a failed signature check. I know around this time last year (maybe November) the Desire got an update like this, however if you were rooted it would not pass the signature check for some reason. Also if you were unbranded on an originally branded device and NOT rooted it would also cause this problem. I remember being able to fix the problem, I just can't remember how
It won't install until you go back to stock recovery. There is a thread somewhere in the sensation forums that tells you how. You will have to search though cause I can't remember where but I remember reading it.

Did either of you figure out the fix, or did you give up? I'm in the same position and would like to know how to do this. Please provide any links that you can. Thanks.
from what i read you have to flash stock recovery the instructions for this can be found in android development
I solved ny fully flashing a stock rom
I had same issue , so I used an rru that I have from the stock rru thread in android develpment, and then I can accept the over the air updates and have it to work, but it is very annoying way to go.
The problem that the HTC official updates need the htc own recovery and not the one we burn to have the abilty to install su and root.
So after u install a stock rom and have it updated u will have to root probably at least to clear the battery stats,,, this will make u loose abilty to accept updates again ??!!
I wish if someone can tell us an easier solution
Hey guys
My brother got the sensation a while ago, so i took it, rooted, and flashed a new rom.
I also think I updated the firmware because its running ICS(used to be 2.3).
Anyway, the phone is very laggy and slow plus when I get a call most time it reboots.
I flashed cyanogen rom (4.2.2) and through the set up it rebooted.
I wiped every thing before I installed CM.
Has any body experienced this before? any ideas?
Thank in advance m8s:good:

any ideas guys? could it be a hardware issue?
guys after flashing CM10 the phone works great but it over heats a lot and most of the time when I get a call, I answer, it reboots..
Whats the problem with this phone
I don't think it's a hardware issue. You could try a stock ROM or an RUU to see if the problem is fixed. Try clearing the cache and data from the phone app and see if that fixes it.

Before installing CM10, I cleared the cache and date, rest to factory and wiped dalvik cache. I always flash roms on my oneX and DHD but never experienced this problem.
I noticed something, after booting in CM10 for the first time, the prior venom wallpaper was there which was awkward...
could be this the recovery? Im currently using CWM flashed directly from play store.
PLZ help guys this phone is becoming very annoying, almost every call I receive it will reboot
Hmm...I am running out of ideas. I think you need to somehow re-install the phone.apk, but this is coming from a semi-noob. You might need a pro to help you on this.
One more idea... Did you try putting a piece of cardboard by the battery to keep it in properly (although it's only when you open the phone app)

Ill post back when I find the right solution.
Thanks again
Here it is...
As I mentioned in the first post that my brother uses the phone.
Sorry to disappoint you but the problem was from the battery
I dont know how i did not think about it.
I folded a piece of paper and placed it behind the battery and since then it never rebooted
THANKS GUYS!!!!
