ok so it was running ok with minimal lag now it lags like crazy where you cant even move at times with unexpected closes or pauses in the game. Very frustrating. Running Fp1 Stock
Any help appreciated
Works fine for me in Eclipse 2.0, even with conservative governor. My brother was on stock fp1 and he was lagging out so he made me root his phone and put eclipse on it

It makes the CPU frequency go up slower to save battery. Basically in games it reduces performance if it doesn't demand max speed all the time.
I'm running Eclipse 2.0 as well but when I play Temple run o just overclock to 1.2 with smartassv2 governor and there's no lag at all.

Interesting i guess i should try Eclipse 2.0 Just going to be hard to get used to not having my stock widgets
If I'm on Eclipse 2.0 with the stock FP1 kernel . What is the safest and most stable way to bump my Charge CPU up to 1.2 ghz ?
- I experienced quite a bit of lag as well while trying to play Temple Run .
The only way to do it on a stock kernel is with Tegrak Overclock from the Market. The free version will overclock. To make it stick on boot, you have to buy the pay version.
I was on FP1 stock and temple run was working fine without any lags. And yesterday I put the Tweaked v2.0 on my phone and now temple run lags a lot. Kinda weird

Im Running Tweaks 1.4 with PBnJ at 1.2GHz with Smartass V2 and mine lags as well.
I suspect that this may be a memory contention problem. When I play Temple Run with my phone on Tweaked 2.1 with imnuts PBJ 0524, it's horribly laggy - if my Yahoo! Mail and Facebook (official) apps are either sitting in the background constantly hitting the network or trying to reload whenever OOM-killed. If I go to Titanium Backup and freeze those two, Temple Run becomes playable again.
There are a number of fat, pushy apps out there that just won't back off even when your phone is otherwise busy, including the two mentioned above. Try trimming your widgets and temporarily freezing things you don't want to uninstall, and you'll get a better user experience on heavyweight games like Temple Run.
ya I run my charge on tweaked 2.1 UV'd at 800mhz but I use tasker to OC my phone to 1.2 whenever I open a CPU intensive game it takes a second for it to run without lag but then it works with no problems

What does your setup look like to stay UVd (which you can't do in tasker afaik) while not in the game? I've played with some things, but they turned out to be kind of cumbersome.

I run:
100mhz -200
200mhz -150
400mhz -125
800mhz -100
1000mhz -75
1200mhz -50
I'm always UV'd at the 800 mark but I think when tasker overclocks me to 1.2ghz it keeps my UV settings but idk.
edit: I use smartass v2 governor
Whenever I would have tasker take over, I would later reopen Voltage Control and all the voltage settings would be reset to their standard values.
I actually just noticed that my tasker isn't actually doing anything lol. I'll set up the task and press the play (test) button and it'll work but then I'll go into an app I've set up and my max is set to 1200 but my phone is maxing at 800 still. I don't think that voltage control and tasker integrate very well and that might be your problem but my UV setting are intact.

Ok, sorry if this seems like a stupid question but... I have flashed/tested all of the Tiamat Kernels onto my xoom and it seems that I can only run the 1.4 Ghz Kernel with no random reboots. So I thought that if i download the higher 1.5Ghz or the 1.6Ghz and just under-clock it to 1.4Ghz that should stop it from doing random reboots, but sadly it doesnt and I still get random reboots even with Setcpu Under-clocking it to 1.4Ghz. Now is this typical or am I missing or misunderstanding something? Is there a reason why I cant use the higher Kernels and Under-clock them to 1.4Ghz and get no random reboots? I am only asking because I flashed the Riptide and under-clocked it to 1.4Ghz and it really made my xoom feel much faster and nicer in my hands and would love to keep using the Riptide Kernel.
Thanks in advance,
-Dez
I have the same issues and have been wondering the same thing.
I have similar , with 1.6 with ums
only flashed to get ums , and had a few crash/reboots for the first time since i bought my xoom about a month ago.
what i could do with is a stock speed kernal with all the bells on !

I too have noticed this, after reading your post I tried keeping the Kernels but with no OC and left it at 1.0Ghz and it still has random reboots. So is there something in the Higher Kernels that are causing it to be unstable regardless of what Ghz you clock it to?
watch setcpu at times. It doesn't matter what you set the clock at in setcpu it will still go to the max clock the kernel allows. I am not sure if it is a bug with setcpu or if it is just the way the kernel works. If you reboot your Xoom when setcpu is at 1ghz, then go and play with the xoom after reboot for awhile. Go back into setcpu and look under the info tab. You will see that the cpu has indeed been running the higher clocks then 1ghz at times. It doesn't run those higher clocks much but it does. Which is most likely why you are getting lockups or reboots. My Xoom seems to love the 1.5ghz kernel but hates the 1.6ghz one.
Funny I was on the same boat. Started out with 1.6...reboots. went to 1.4 no problems. Tried riptide. Got app force closes. Now on 1.5...stable once again. The thing is im not even using OC on any of them

Morning all,
I am running the Hammerhead ROM with the OC GPU kernel. I have been able to run at 1.6 GHZ with no issues. When I push it to 1.7 GHZ I get alot of browser closes, hangs, and reboots.
Has anyone been able to run reliably at 1.7 GHZ with the OC GPU kernel, and if so are you doing anything special with voltages to get this to run reliably?
Thanks,
Steve

Each device and each Tegra chip are slightly different..some will run that fast without any problem, some can do it in bursts, while others will crash before you close SetCPU. It often has very little to do with settings.
I had the same issue as you. At 1.6, it has never rebooted, but at 1.7 it very consistently reboots or forces a close.

I am going to fool around with voltages and see if I can get 1.7 Ghz to stabilize.
same here.. i had no reboots but some force closes when i really push the device with 1.7 ghz ( tiamat kernel&3.2) ... if depends on the load of the cpu i guess.. when i run quadrant test continuously it works without a problem even a non-stop half hour.. but when i open 15+ pages in theb browser it freezes and sometimes forse closes.. i assume the voltage management is not stable or enough for 1.7 ghz .. when its 1.6 its perfect.. ( to be honets none of this gpu and cpu overclocks are really necessary and effecting my everyday usage, its already a very fast and good device)

Sorry man. It's been said before about the tegra and other procs, it's all luck of the draw. I am one of the lucky ones who can get stable at 1.7ghz but it won't work for everyone. I wish there was an easy fix that would make this work for you.
well I just got my xoom and its overclockable to like 1.6ghz but I wannna make sure my device life won't go down, also what are good temps what should I try to keep the temperature under. Simply what temps are you guys getting
Thanks guys
Most people stay under 1.7 ghz because the processor becomes unstable (rebooting, freezing up, etc.). There has been zooms that don't overclock very well above 1.5 ghz so you will have to play with it and see what works well for you. If you get freezing, and rebooting then just dial it back until you get the sweet spot. As far as temp, unless you are a extreme power use you should not see temp's 100 degrees, I am a power user and rarely get above 98 degrees. Hope this helps?

no case using the new tiamat for xoom 2.2.2 it completely stable at 1.6 GHz but temps stay around 90-100 when using heavily. ambient temp is like 75, when i let it rest and its just locked its like 75-80
i run around 1.5 daily... with 1.6 for benchies...
temps are VERY cool for my tab... honestly it is astounding... my phone gets way hotter

Another thing to check is your governor and wht is is set to (interactive, userspace, proformance, etc) if you have it set to proformance, you're gov will keep you at 1.6 all the time and could cause heat issues. Download a app called android system info (free in the market) and check your CPU info. I have provided a screenshot of what it looks like.
As you can see I'm at 1.2ghz only 21% of the time and 216, 58%.

use the tiamat settings. I dont have my xoom in front of me but i keep it set on "on demand" i think. You xoom is running hot. I would lower it OC until you find the sweet spot for your heat issue. I think your xoom will run fine but you will start to kill the "life" of the xoom IMO.

I think the reason he is running hot is do to his governor settings, when I first started playing with overclocking I noticed my xoom would run hotter when I would increase the preformance. But I agree if he is running 90 to 100 degrees regularly, there is a problem somewhere.

It's not really a race...the cpu is only rated to 1GH so anything you can squeeze out above that and still remain stable is gravy, don't you think? In Xoom as in life--YMMV.
I loaded the Blades 2 kernel on my TF along side the Revolver ROM.
How can I tell if the OC is safe and working? I am not sure if you stress test it or anything like you do on a Windows PC type device..

I've found that, in overclocking several Android devices, more often than not if you have an unstable OC, the device will either fail to boot, or will crash constantly. If it's not doing that, you're likely fine.
Um, you're not OCed yet. You need to install setcpu or cpu master and crank up the clock. Clemsyn or Blades gives you the option to OC. It doesn't just OC for you.
lol, and learn from my mistake: when overclocking, don't check the option of "set on boot" untill you have tried overclocking at the Ghz level that you want to use. Believe me, you don't want a bootloop that can only be solved by flashing or restoring from a backup.

I have done extensive overclocking and undervolting.
Set your OC and voltage settings. Then use setcpu or pimpmycpu min and max to your highest OC MHz.
Then play 1 round of Dungon Defenders. If you make it through that then open the camera.
Repeat this on every MHz from top to bottom. If you are unstable at a frequency then increase your voltage slightly (like 10 - 20 mV) and try again.
If you are stable and want to get a little bit better battery do the same thing but lower the mV until dungeon defenders crashes.
Then start to increase it until you are stable.
If your tablet reboots your way low on mV
If it freezes your low on mV
If the widgets act funny, and/ or disapear every once in awhile your in the right ball park
If everything works except your camera freezes you are very close
Some kernels have more aggressive GPU timings which you can't really change so you might want to try another's kernel if you can't get stable.
Well, it seems that I can't go higher than the 1.2 GHZ. If I go any higher, I get some weird freezes and reboots.
Now I saw the post above but I dont see where I can adjust the different voltages, etc..Maybe I am not using the right program?

I'm wondering because I have never heard about a "Blades 2" kernel.
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. This is what Revolver Parts calls Blades' 10-01-2011 kernel.
Blades uses some aggressive GPU timings in some of his kernels. You may want to try Clemsyn 22 if you want to try and go above 1.2 GHz.

Someone liking TouchWiz
100MHz: -100
200MHz: -100
400MHz: -100
800MHz: -75
1000MHz: -50
Those seem to be good starting points for most people...most phone seem to be stable at that. You can continue experimentally reducing it from there. Some processors handle it better than others (mine can go lower than that pretty much across the board but some can't). The worst that happens is that it's unstable and randomly reboots...you aren't going to permanently hurt it by undervolting.
For higher frequencies, it's more down to experimentation. When you get into the overclocking ranges, it gets really individual to the processor.
wow, I thought nobody liked TouchWiz.
My setup:
-Tweaked ROM
-PBJ kernel (NOT using EXT4...it always makes my phone run very sluggishly)
-The SQL cleanup script found here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/25072-sqlite3-phone-is-snappier-than-ever/ (I really have nothing but anecdotal evidence but I'm overly convinced that this helps)
-Autokiller memory manager app set to the "Strict" preset. imnuts's new kernel (524) makes similar changes to the values that AKM changes, but "Strict" is slightly higher (60/70/80 vice 50/60/70) and I find it to work better for my phone. The next highest setting seems to be working too much to kill things off, which also slows down the device. This seems to be the happy medium for my phone, YMMV.
-Overclocked to 1.2 using Voltage Control. This doesn't seem to effect my regular operations but I do notice a difference with more intense games (which I don't use very often). I can't go higher than 1.2 and my UV settings are more conservative than those listed in this thread.
-ADWex (the paid one) is the smoothest launcher I've used. I kept hearing this for the longest time but my experience with the trial version was the opposite. Turns out, they are totally different. Give it a shot. ADW has some neat features, too.
-Also make sure you go through and debloat as far as you can. For instance, I only use gmail but the stock email app will always run in the background and eat up RAM...so I uninstalled it. Since I don't use things like the TW launcher or the TW calculator (Realcalc is a better, free alternative), they're gone, regardless of whether it makes a difference to my experience. I'm also a FB user and the official FB app will eat RAM in the background regardless of your sync and alert settings. Friendcaster won't, so I use it (disclosure: I only have the app so I can share things like photos. For status updates and browsing I just use the mobile site in the browser). People will argue, especially when the topics of task killers comes up, that Android handles its own memory management great. It largely does, but this phone is very susceptible to bogging down when you get to the upper limits of RAM usage. That's why I believe changing the minfree values in AKM is so important, an improvement that is maximized by getting rid of superfluous RAM eating processes. Obviously, the more crap you have on your homescreen, the more resources it takes to run your homescreen. Do what you're comfortable with.
My phone is running really well for me right now. I hope you can get the same enjoyment out of yours.
Thanks a lot...

BleedsOrangeAndBlue took my recommendation to install sqlite but i actually use different OC/UV settings:
100mhz -200
200mhz -150
400mhz -125
800mhz -100 (i'm underclocked at 800 right now and have no issues besides games)
1000mhz -75
1200mhz -50
also I recommend tweaked2.1 because the included tweaktools script comes with a lot of good kernel tweaks like darkly zip-align and renice which speed up application use
also use an auto cache cleaner with the sqlite cleaner because that lowers lag as well
My setup: 100Mhz -200
200Mhz -100
400Mhz - 75
800Mhz -125
1000Mhz - 50
1200Mhz -50
1300Mhz -25
SetCPU: ondemand, sio, up treshold 97, sampling rate 100000
Profiles: screen off- 100 to 200Mhz at 75
In call - 100 to 1000Mhz at 80
Screen unlocked - 100 to 1300Mhz at 99
This works for me. If I put the 200 or 400Mhz any lower my music player stars skipping. Music player mostly uses the 200 n 400Mhz while video n Netflix uses 800Mhz CPU speeds. Its what I noticed. Also am on Tweeked 2.1 with PBJ 524 n this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684997. On Antutu with this setup my score was 3171 I ran it just b4 I posted this. I truly appreciate it, too! It really makes my phone run much smoother and with a widget on my "Utilities" screen for it, I can get back up to speed with one push in less than a minute.
Thanks for the UV settings. I don't underclock, but I do run the conservative governor to stay on lower settings more of the time. I could probably be more aggressive with some of my lower settings, I think I'm going to play around with them now.

This could vary based on your governor settings, too. For instance, if I'm using ondemand, Pandora will use my max clock speed most of the time. If I use conservative, it flickers between 200 and 400.
Just putting that out there so you can further optimize if need-be. I've become a bit of a battery fanatic recently.

Yes that is why I have the sampling rate at 100000. It is my stable setting , but the 80000 also works fine and 60000 I also notice some skips but not as much as with the 40000 setting

wow, I thought nobody liked TouchWiz.
My setup:
-Tweaked ROM
-PBJ kernel (NOT using EXT4...it always makes my phone run very sluggishly)

It's no longer sluggish. The problem has been solved and it's noticeably faster than non EXT4. You should try it.

do you have a link to the fixed version? I did it with the TonsitPBJ ext4 converter package for tweaked 2.1 and it was awful... not to say that its anyone's fault, this is consistent with every ext4 conversion I've ever done.
I posted a method in rootzwiki http://rootzwiki[dot]com/topic/24729-recommend-conversion-to-ext4/
it is a little tedious but if the method you used did not work well I recommend this method because I had no problems during or after the conversion.
