[Q] How to revert back to GB - T-Mobile LG G2x

I'm currently on hellfire sandwich ics 1.5 and I wanna know how to get back to eaglesblood 2.3.3 or bionix reloaded ... btw which is better eaglesblood or bionix reloaded (haven't tried bionix yet)?

what do you mean how do you revert? you do it like you how you got to HFS... just flash the new rom after proper wipes... and try it out and see for your self that is the best way to out, cause everyone likes different things.

?? Did your phone come with hell's ics? Haha you do the same thing as you did to get that...download the rom, wipe cache/dalvik, install zip from sd card.

thanx guys I wasn't sure because I own a vibrant too and on my vibrant I have to wipe and flash twice and I wanted to be sure it was the same on the g2x

Yeah no biggie here. Just use Nullifier to wipe the partitions (or wipe them manually /data /system /cache) then flash the new ROM.
No troublesome issues like with iPhones for downgrading XD lolz

Just flashed Pre-Beta rom, have a question about ext3

I just flashed a rom that is in pre beta (Bionix2 Legacy continues). I noticed as it was installing that it changed the file system to ext3. I am wondering what I would have to do(any special) to flash another rom or restore a nanroid. I know with the Vibrant when the file system was changed by rom to ext4 or voodoo as it is called one had to be very careful to disable it or very unpleasant issues would occur. The rom is great!!!!!!!!!!!! Just would like to know for future reference.
We've always been ext3. The phone is stock ext3 so no worries bud.

Thanks for swift and kind reply!! I am loving the rom, really have not found any bugs to speak of. I will be donating this afternoon after I get paid. I am overjoyed that you and TW are developing for the G2X. GREAT work
Just donated. Thanks again!!!

G2x - 6 days and counting with no lockups/reboots

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in for those who have had problems with their G2X rebooting or locking up and requiring a reboot. I update daily to the latest Cyanogenmod build and have already been going on strong for 6 days without a single reboot/lockup.
Before this, I was experiencing multiple lockups/reboots throughout the day.
Except for battery life, I'm happy with my G2X now.
Ditto.
CM7 is what brought sanity back to the phone for me.
Only reason I reboot is because I flash the dam thing every night.
Can't wait for the RC or stable release.
I guess I must be a lucky one. I haven't had any reboots or issues like that with my G2x. The only reason I rooted this phone was because I suspected the bloat was causing my Audio to studder. After rooting and installing then Ultimate G2x Rom with faux's stock kernel, I can say this g2x is now one of the best phones I have owned. I can't help but wonder how many issues with rebooting and what not would be solved by removing the Tmobile and LG crapware they put on this phone.

Same setup here and no reboots or freezes or anything like that.
I'm running the stock ROM rooted with the faux kernel and I've NEVER had any rebooting or freezing.

Same with me, stock with faux. I also applied paul's fix.
Are you using the pre-UVed kernel? Did you UV even more? Right now I'm undervolted -25mV in addition to the -50mV in the kernel
The only rom that gave me trouble was the unofficial GB leak. Every few hours the phone would be off in my pocket.
All other roms ran like a champ. Been running CM7 since #0, only straying to try other roms for a day. No complaints.
To OP, CM has always been rough on battery life. Try using another kernel and you should get more life.
Eagles blood 1.0.5 ftwwwwwww... All great roms out
Quick noob question...what do i wipe if I just want to flash a kernel over stock?

yea u would def have to restore your stock nandroid backup, because no one has just the stock kernel from lg u can flash, so yes u would restore the backup, then if u wanted to flash the kernel wipe cache and dalvik then install fauxs kernel and your good.......also and if u dont like it which u probably will, just restore the backup again, and u should really try ebfroyo 1.0.5 it looks just like gingerbread and u have the stock camera app and its so quick, awesome rom
Im def going to give ebfroyo a try! Thanks for the help bro!

well the rom comes with fauxs ext4 kernel on it.... but supposedly people are having problems with ext 4 and recovery so what i did was threw on fauxs ext3 kernel on over it, use the 1.5 one, just wiped cache and dalvik then got the rom how i wanted it then made my backup, this way i know i wont have problems with the ext3 kernel
I've been searching for gapps froyo with no luck...I'm on my phone and dont have a computer available at the moment, can someone help please? Sorry, thanks!

Themes...

hey,
im new this with whole thing and have a question about themes. I have a G2X and have it rooted with GB. Can i down load any theme to put on it or do i have to have something else?
Depends. Look in the theme thread for what roms the theme is compatible with. All of my themes are for the weapon rom.

What if I just have stock ROM. Is there any theme out there or the stock?

Nope

Well you have to flash all the themes typically unless the rom has Tmobiles Theme Chooser (CM7 Themes) support. In order to flash you have to NVFlash Clockwork Recovery. And if your that far you wouldn't be using a stock rom because you'd be using a much better rom, probably with theme support....
Hence why no one really plays with stock. It's stock for a reason. If you start flashing, modding, changing, and themeing the stock rom... you don't have a stock rom.
Non-CM7 based roms require flashing themes
CM7 based themes can be downloaded from the market and installed on the fly
MIUI's built-in theme editor can download and combine tons of themes on the fly
I'm not sure what I have now. Think stock but rooted. I added some add ones but that's it. I did flash to get it rooted

In all honesty once you flash cm7, you wont go back to stock. Not only can you choose themes and more settings, but your battery life will increase. Mine nearly doubled in battery life. I can go all day without charging, stock rom I would be on the charger by 5.
I'd recommend cm7 period.

Where can I get that one at?

Seems like you're really new to all this so before doing anything I suggest you do some light reading on CM7 and what it really is. Head over to their website and see what it is.
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/
Also, did you root via NVFLASH method? If so then I'm assuming you at least have CWM 3.x.x?
If so, then the rest is easy.
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Format /System
Then flash CM7. Good luck.
Yes I am. Yes I'm pretty sure I did that way to root it. I will have to read and about everything.

[Q] Valhalla Final vs Valhalla Black Edition??

just wondering what is the difference between these two roms?? is black edition a fusion of final and octaine v3?

Valhalla final is just Valhalla with no themes or audio mods. Just a super fast and awesome ROM. Valhalla black edition is just Valhalla but with Raver's audio mods and an ICS like theme and with themed apps. But nonetheless, they are both great ROMs.

How to Change ROMS
I know this question has nothing to do with this thread, but hopefully somebody can help me, I'm a noob.. I've finally successfully rooted and flashed my Galaxy S 4G last night with Vahalla Black. If I want to try Octane, do I need to remove Vahalla first? How exactly should I go about doing it?

Go into cwm, go to mounts and storage, format cache, format data, format system, flash octane, reboot. Wait 10 mins, reboot, use phone.

Valhalla black is Valhalla final with a dark theme and almost all bloat removed.
Valhalla final has most of the bloat still packaged into it with a pink unicorn theme in which can be removed and has more of the stock look and feel to it.

How to install a kernel ICS ROM?

Ok i installed aokp ics rom but I noticed the battery goes by real fast. So i thought maybe I should install a new kernel; problem is I do not know how to install a new kernel and I do not know if it is compatible with the aokp ics and wether or not it can mess everything up? so can anybody help me with this? Would Harsh Kernel P999 Build-0604 for ics rom work with the aokp ics rom and how would i be able to install it? Please help!!
Hi, I've bee using the harsh kernels with aokp since they have been available and think it is a great combination.
To install a kernel boot into clockworkmod recovery, clear cache, go into advanced and clear dalvik cache, then I usually fix permissions also in advanced(i dont know if this is necessary but i do it for piece of mind). Then go back and reboot system. That's it
