I know... "Why would you want the stock boot animation?" Because I do.
Can anybody hook me up with this? Searching around XDA, I couldn't find anywhere with the stock 480x800 animation.
Right now, I'm working off from dman's rooted UCLB3 CWM version. I assumed that this would have the stock animations, but I only see a generic "Android" boot animation (with Infusion-GB A2).
I see that there's a bootsamsung.qmg file in /system/media. Is this a boot animation that only the stock kernel uses?
Thanks..
~wolverine~ pointed me to the boot animation for the HTC Inspire. One quick image swap to get rid of the HTC logo, and it's exactly what I was looking for.
Attached file should be placed into /system/media if using the Infusion kernel.
PharmNerd....glad to help out

So I know the boot animation is located in system/customise/resource however is there any risk in deleting it? I am coming from an HD2 running android without a boot animation and was wondering is this was possible on our wonderful SNS
May I ask why you would not want the Boot Animation? Does it give you the command line boot up?
wow thanks for the fast reply, no problems just a personal preference

It is in /system/media on this device...
And you can delete it, it will just give you a grey android logo
Ah ok thanks for the update! did a search for similar threads and found they pointed to the other folder.
thanks for the quick replies guys!
Hi all, I just joined and have a question. I flashed the CBW update from my unbranded XT720 and now have CBW branding as the boot animation. I dl'd a boot animation prog and it disabled my touch screen, so a reflash was required. How would I remove the branding without losing my touch screen? I used BAC lite. Thank you in advance.
I haven't tried it but saw this. You can copy a bootanimation.zip to /system/media with Root Explorer or with Andoidiani Recovery you can set up a theme with nothing but a bootanimation.zip.
Thanks for that, but, it didn't seem to work for me. the download option goes to some website for hosting. then had to do a recovery to get it to start up again.
Download absolute system tools and find any boot animation you want

Thanks, someone else recommended this to me also. I will do it
works like a charm. the best $1.99 I have ever spent
I flashed the international GSIII boot animation, but decided I would like to flash back to the original. I can not find the original bootanimation for the Verizon GSIII anywhere online. Does anyone know where it is or how to get it?

I was wondering if it's safe to flash new ROM with a custom boot animation active?
I want to update my SynergyROM as it's gotten slow and clunky, though it's about 40 revision behind the times. I haven't messed with customizing my phone for months, however, and am a bit rusty. I downloaded the latest SynergyROM, made my backups, and was just wondering about this. In fact, I'm searching for my bootanimation.zip right now, not sure where I manually installed it... lol
Also, apparently there is a way to just flash boot images now? Anybody have a link to some solid info?
Thanks in advance!

bootanimation.zip is in /system/media, so it'll get formatted when you flash a new rom anyways.
I'm assuming you're referring to bootanimations or splash screens, not boot.img's ..... But then again confused by what you're asking. Bootanimations just need to be put in a zip and the updater-script push it to /system/media. Splash screens there's a thread explaining how-to.

So I updated to 4.3 (not OTA, I used the TouchWiz rooted with aroma rom) but I lost the bootscreen that Ive had on my phone forever. In trying to reinstall it, it just doesnt work anymore. After doing some googling, and reading around on other threads, I see that animations are now under .qmg's as opposed to the old bootanimation.zip methods. Well, I still dont know what Im doing, because I got a proper bootsamsung.qmg, used root explorer to change it out of read only, deleted the one in the media folder, pasted mine in there, and changed the permissions back to rw-r--r--, and im still getting the new stock bootscreen.
Is there something Im missing here? Again, I feel stupid for asking this. Im not super knowledgeable on alot of this, but I can get myself around, and usually find where Ive gone wrong and fix my problem, but this one has straight up stumped me
If you are referring to old&slow's TW Rom, in the 3rd post of his thread, there is a link to flashable boot animations. After you flash one of those, you can then replace the boot animation with whatever you want.
