I stumbled on this http://cheapdroids.com/T-Mobile-G2-Monaco-Aluminum-Case-Black-Open-Screen-Design.html
and was wondering if anyone had it or had reviews about it, looking to see that it wont interfere with keyboard like some do.
Hey quick question! This case does not open the keyboard right?

From the picture it looks like a solid one-piece, but then how would you get the phone in there?
"The lock on the side holds the top and bottom of the case tightly together and prevents the case from accidentally opening"
It seems that it's some kind of lock, so that would mean it's openable, but don't hold me to that
*Edit*: http://cheapdroids.com/T-Mobile-G2-Monaco-Aluminum-Case-Silver-Open-Screen-Design.html
Thats the silver one, there you can see the long mechanism a bit better, so from the looks of it, you can still open it.
Ohh I didn't see that shot great gonna order one

Could you let us/me know how it is? It looks rather interesting
Definitely looking forward to an XDA member's review on this with better pics!
Once I get it pics and review will be up i really just want something easier to take on an off then the ones that tmobile has cause I use a case for work which is painting, and the tmobile cases felt like i would screw the phone up taking them on and off alot.
I am very interested in this case as well and will probably order. I found a different seller on eBay selling this case, link below. It includes more pictures as well.
http://cgi.ebay.com/T-Mobile-G2-Mon...Accessories&hash=item256083857c#ht_1724wt_983
Also found this retailer that has a video of it, looks slightly bulky.

Well a lot of people around here are looking for that. Something to lock the keyboard in place during normal day to day use. That way it isn't opening in your pocket and stuff like that.

Yea that works out for them but it means im still on the hunt >>
I agree in theory you shouldn't have to need this case. But if you are like me, my phone hinge is loose and it feels wobbly to even text. So if this case can hold the goods together securely then it looks like its worth it.
Just ordered one. Let's see if its better then the otterbox.

Looks sturdy. The added bulk keeps me away though.
I agree, I am worried about the excess bulkiness. Looks like a brick! All my friends have iPhone 4's so I dont want to pull out something looking a decade old! However pics and youtube videos can be deceiving. The G2 is a beautiful phone and doesnt seem to show scratches easy. I too have the loose hinge and like I said in a previous post, scotch tape on the sides is the best answer!

Agreed. I always find myself buying cases for all of my devices. 2 weeks later i end up ditching them going back to naked. right now i just have the stealthguards full body protector on which is excellent even for 10$. I, for one, hate the g2's keyboard, however, its one of the best ones out thus far. (if that makes any sense)
Anybody who ordered this case received it yet? Ordered mine on the 17th and still hasn't arrived....
[G2/HTC Vision]
DO NOT ORDER. Took forever to come and the case is complete crap. Finish sucks. Build sucks. Overall suck
[G2/HTC Vision]
I'm looking for a 'screen protector' for the keyboard. Similar to what comes on the phone when they are new.
I haven't been able to find any online, does anyone know of one available?
There's isn't really a keyboard protector out there. There's only a rubber case that includes a rubber case for the keyboard.
I ordered myself one of these,
http://cgi.ebay.com/White-Silicone-...151471?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item255fdda62f
I recommend the light colors so you'll be able to see the keyboard and know what you're pressing. I made the mistake of buying the black one and I can't even see what I'm typing in light. Only when its dark you'll see the keyboards black light.
I am thinking about making my own template for a keyboard cover that will cover the exposed areas around the edges of the keyboard as well as in between each key... in fact, now that I've read this, I'm going to start working on it right now.
if I get something worked out that is functional, I'm not opposed to loaning you my template so you can create your own custom cover. I'm planning on making it a one piece template and using one of the ZAGG screen-cover blanks that you can buy from office supply stores for simplicity's sake.
if it works, I'll post a write-up.
Wont this result in a less haptic keyboard?
I mean, this Phone is bought because of the nice keyboard and when you put something over it, it isnt as good as before?!
the silicon "cover" would, in my opinion, make the keyboard less usable, but a thin strip of film won't affect its function.
to each his own!
I've still got the factory one on mine, but it is barely hanging on so thought i'd replace it. Will make a perfect template hopefully.
Whats the best way to cut it out?

you lucky dog!! I have been using tissue paper and drawing it with a pencil, haha.
since you already have a perfect template, I would just use a craft knife of some sort. a steady hand and some patience should yield a pretty decent template.
I'm using something similar to this
i can scan it in if you'd like and post it up, might save you some time?

Lol why would you waste your time doing that. You could just buy a silicone case that has the keyboard cover and use that template! Unless you're too cheap to buy one

I guess I could do that, but then I have to wait for it to ship, and then I have a silicon case that I don't want. just seems wasteful, and I'm not a wasteful person. good idea for others who want to try and do the same thing though.

Im really liking the wake and sleep feature on the Galaxy Note 8. This is a nice feature found on the iPad Mini and the Kindle Fire HD tablets.

To anyone who picked one up, how does it feel in terms of bulk? Also, when the cover is folded over, does it lay flush with the spine or does the flap stick out?

It is very thin, as thin as my nexus 4, and feels like a father compared to my original xoom
the cover is just like the s3 flip cover but it snaps on the back instead of replacing the battery cover
and it triggers auto on and off like the ipad smart cover
Caved in and picked up the cover on the way home today. Some initial thoughts:
1) The case adds no real bulk to the device itself. The backplate and the screen flap are both super thin, so even when folded over, it's doable for someone like me who hates cases.
2) Because its all so thin, however, it does feel sorta cheap. If this suffers from the same build issues I've read the S3 version has, I don't have high hopes that it's going to last long.
3) The screen on/off thing is awesome. The sensor part of this is actually along the spine, not the edge of the flap. Not a complaint, just an observation.
4) When folded over, there is a bit of a "lip" around the spine. I can't say I love this, but it doesn't really impact the way I hold the device.
5) The "stand" feature is alright and seems stable enough as long as you use it in the single position it was designed for. I do with it had a few more angle options.
Verdict? Meh. It's not a bad case, and I don't intend to return mine, but had I been given the opportunity to play with one before, I don't think I would have spent the extra $50. At half that price, it wouldn't change my opinion, but I'd be far less disappointed.
I have the book cover for my 8.0 and it is not very heavy, acts like a stand and turns the Note on and off when I open and close it. Very convenient. Got mine on Amazon for $5.99. Thought I would give it a try for that amount . So far very happy with it.

The only one I see on Amazon for that price is the IVSO version. What I hate about those cases is how you actually have to put the tablet inside and wraps around the front. The official book cover simply snaps onto the back of the Note 8.

I bought that same cover and also bought a similar one:
http://www.amazon.com/Dealgadgets-S...&qid=1366425979&sr=8-2&keywords=Galaxy+note+8
They both look essentially the same and add about the same bulk.
Major difference is that the Moko cover has auto wake, soft inside material, hand holder, and the pen holder doesn't interfere with IR. But it reeks! I mean it smells so bad I couldn't keep it in the same room with me. I left it outside overnight and it is still off gassing.
The Dealgadget cover has no weird smell. But also no wake function, no softer inside material, no hand holder. The pen holder is in a better location except if you plan to use the IR function. It is on the side of the tablet and I found it interferes with the IR.
So I ended up ordering the Samsung cover from this site. Since its coming from Hong Kong it will probably take a couple of weeks to get it. But I can't justify spending $50 for a cover. (Even though I probably will have spent close to $50 before I find one I like).
http://dx-box.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=364&q=Galaxy+Note+8.0
I never purchased from this site before so I can't vouch for them yet.
I also have the upcoming Poetic case on order since its only $5. But it's not due to ship till May.
good one
hi budy go to your level best and may astonished to the forums:good:
When looking for some case reviews I stumbled over http://galaxynote8cases.com/ and they actually seem to have some good reviews. The only thing that is a real pain with the Note 8 is that it's tough to find any accessories for it.
I just got the white book case cover, its perfect for people who are careful with their electronics but like that extra layer to prevent scratches. Adds virtually zero weight.

Thats the big selling point for me here. The absolute lack of bulk on this is awesome. I only wish this had two more features:
1) A magnetic hold when the front flap is covering the screen.
2) Another magnetic hold for the flap when its folded over the back.
Sent from my GT-N5110 using xda premium
There is a slight hold on the front side, as to not make it appear flimsy. When you flip it around back it "gives" a bit easier to fit snugly. Hard to explain, but clearly well designed.
Where are people buying this case, i cant find it anywhere.
The Book Cover Case is available in the US at local Best Buy, Staples and Office Depot. The only color is white, but the other colors will be available shortly.

Since the folio covers are 2 sided with different colors, I'm wondering: can you flip the folio case over if you want to change colors?
I like the peach/maroon colored folio cover (Coral Amethyst), but I would much rather have the Maroon showing for the front than the Peach side shown in stock photos.
I think the Vietnamese YouTube review video floating around showed the lime cover attached, with the lime facing out on the back of the device. That would mean that if you close the cover, the lime is inside, and the darker navy (?) is on the outside. It would seem to be reversible.
you can teach me how to do this okay?

I watched the cover in use in a french video posted in another thread, and it doesn't look like there hinges to close the cover, like you're imagining. Looking at the video, it looks like you peel the cover entirely off the front and then stick it to the back, and vice versa. It doesn't seem to fold around on a hinge like the iPad smart cover. In which case, I guess you can probably stick it to the tablet in either direction each time you "close" it. I wish it had the hinge though. I don't really want to buy a cover that comes entirely off every time I want to use my tablet...

You're right. The first video review was out before the French one, and didnt show it being taken off and put on the back, I think. From the French video, I agree, it appears hingeless, but it is probably reversible. I still have one pre-ordered from Amazon but, ugh, I kind of want it attached in some way too. But who knows! Maybe from now on I will prefer ones that come off entirely. Those magnets better be strong enough to keep it from shifting or flopping around.

And that's the thing as well. I don't want to pull my tablet out of a bag and have the cover left behind. But my other issue with it is that it seems like it will be a hassle to take it off and put it on. The iPad smart covers are so easy to flip open and closed with one hand because you don't have to line it up and you only have to grab one side of it. Seems like moving the magic cover around may be quite the ordeal. I might end up getting one anyways, I don't know. Since I can't seem to order one to Canada yet anyways, I guess I'll wait and see how everyone else ends up liking it. In the meantime, my nexus 9 will either be naked or wearing a MOFRED Ultra Slim case (basically a smart cover knockoff) that I managed to order from the UK for £0.01 haha

I'm not sure about the status of my Amazon order (still says not yet shipped), but it is supposed to arrive on Wednesday. So is my tablet but again, still not shipped yet. I'll give a quick update when they get here and I have a chance to try it out. It's a $40 gamble but I usually end up liking the OEM accessories, as overpriced as they are.

I can see how you can make the assumption that you can just flip the cover around, but then you're not accounting that flipping around the cover could reverse the polarity of the magnet, thereby making the other side of the cover repel away from the tablet rather than being attracted to it. I hope I'm wrong though..

I am convinced that i is reversible. If you look at the product page on Google Play, towards the bottom you see two renderings of the cover. Using the green/blue one as an example, the image next to Takes Pictures in a Snap shows it attached to the back, blue side in, green side out, and the corner is folded over.
Immediately below that is another rendering of the cover as a typing stand for the tablet in landscape mode. Blue side is now out, green side is in, and presumably, it's still magnetically attached along that top edge.
But here's an update on the arrival -- I spoke to an Amazon representative this morning who said that they were informed that the covers have been delayed from the manufacturer, and that no retailer has them in stock right now. She said Amazon has been told that they'll receive a shipment on December 1. So, looks like we will all keep waiting to find out for sure.
I think it will work. Magnets repel each other when the poles are opposite while this is magnet to metal which is different. Somebody with a fridge magnet should be able to check easily.

There are in fact magnets in the tablet itself. If you put two Nexus 9 next to each other, side by side, the two tablets will repel each other. I saw a youtube video of this somewhere showing this.
Is nobody concerned about the "inside" of the cover (i.e. the part facing the display) being used as the stand in the upright position? I'm a bit paranoid of it massaging dust/dirt particles into the screen...
So today i have finally broke my phone I am currently phoneless until my replacement screen comes in so i will be going phoneless from here until atleast 4/20!! So i would like to describe what happened. Usually this phone is a tank and i can drop it 1 million times without it breaking until today happened. I was already having a really bad day i woke up late in the morning and almost missed my bus. i went to school looking like trash and then i end up going through the whole day with a really bad headache. I had to deal with a horrible mat teacher who gave me a (no joke) 66.60 for the marking period. half the class failed. So whatever i dealt with her then i went through my day until i was in my last period class. i was wearing gym shorts today so my pockets were really loose and i had my phone in my right pocket. I was sitting in a chair that was 2 feet off the ground and BAM my phone smashes into the floor. At this point I'm like "oh crap its done" so i flip it over and there was only a tiny crack in the top left hand corner so im like oh okay no biggy I can deal with that. That wasn't the worst of it. The screen powered on perfectly fine nothing looked wrong however only one half of the touch screen worked. Touching the screen anywhere under the power button wouldn't work. Running a DPI of 420 puts 2 essential things right in that exact area (dpi wont matter for the second thing) 1. My lock password is toast so i cant unlock my phone 2. even if i could unlock my phone (some cases i was able to unlock my phone but it works for 5 seconds then stops) the nav bar lives in that zone so im screwed. I just find it funny how a tiny drop can be so fatal and disable half a screen while i drop my phone daily from many different heights and thee wort it got was a scratch. I'm curious what are your drop stories?????
PS. if you don't see me participate in the threads I usually stalk its because I prefer to browse and post to XDA from XDA Labs. The website sucks.
I have repaired my phone and ordered the black dualpro or whatever its called case by insipio I ended up getting it for $25 should be here in a few days the company who ships it is very reliable
photos to follow within the week
Same thing happened to me. But replacing the screen on these is really easy, provided you get the screen/digitizer and frame assembly. Ijust did mine last week. Now i wont take off the case again. I have never cracked a screen until this phone. But up and going again.

Maybe if you just got black or something. Some of us customized them in Moto maker or skinned them. It would be useless to cover it up and I don't like the clear cases. Sure you have to be careful but you really should even with a case. The thing is accidents happen and a case isn't a guarantee that the phone won't break anyways.

@WelcomeToTheSkye Sorry to hear about your phone. And your class. I was so scared I was gonna drop my MXP until I got a case. I was expecting the rubber on the back to be grippy but mine is slippery compared to my old moto E and the metal makes it worse. If you'd like a case recommendation, I have the Diztronic case and the Incipio Octane. They're both good. The octane looks better because it lets you back material show through and it adds more grip, but the headphone port cutout isn't big enough for my ATH-M50s
The Diztronic is really really nice. It just doesn't add as much grip. The buttons are also really easy to press. It's the one I usually use.

I got a pretty nice looking carbon fibre look case off eBay for less than £5 and it's saved my phone no end of times, if you go caseless and your phone breaks you only have yourself to blame
Wallet cases are also a great way to protect your phone/screen. I looked around on Amazon for a while and the only well reviewed one was the one by a company called J&D. I purchased it in turquoise and paired it with the Pleson tempered glass screen protector and the only downside is that all tempered glass protectors for this phone come up a little on the sides due to the curved screen but otherwise this is a protective and attractive combination.

Make sure you head over to https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-X-Pure-Moto-X-Style/bd-p/449 before having Moto Mobility work on it. There's some disagreement over whether it's a scam or negligence, but either way you're in for a lot of trouble.
I don't use a case either because it makes the phone too large for a pocket. Too bad Moto didn't put a rim around the glass like every other Chinese and Japanese phone has. I guess they wanted the iPhone look with a minimalist white face and a cracked screen.

Same thing happened to me I stripped 6/20 of the screws... Turns out if you rip the screen off by getting a screwdriver under it you can still the stripped screws out of the back frame. It doesn't need all 20 screws it needs the one to hold the motherboard to the screen and at least 8 to keep it in place

Everybody says this so I'm betting Leno glued the screws in. It's fixable if it's into plastic. Lift the edge of the screw head with a knife tip as you turn it. Once it's out, clean the threads. Dip a thin wire into plastic welding glue (modeling and pipe glue works) and wet the inside of the screw hole. Clear out any excess glue. Let the glue dry somewhere warm for at least an hour. The screws should fit now.
Can you post a link to the replacement you got? I bought one of the higher priced ones on ebay and have had three with screen issues. The seller just wants to refund me at this point, so I need to find one that will not have light bleed, dead pixels and an unresponsive screen. Thanks in advance!
I am not recommending anyone do this and am not responsible if you mess your phone up. but this worked For my stripped screw. Replaced my screen today. One screw stopped I drilled the head of the screw out. I used a left handed bit because you drill in reverse with these and if the bit grabs it may unscrew. May but didn't. It made me very nervous but worked. And the part of the screw that was left in didn't matter since I bought the screen with the bezzle/frame. And I had a extra screw same size. It was Philips head but worked. There is a good chance if you try to drill out your stripped screws you will completely brake your phone. But there is that small chance for success?
