Apparently, I accidentally deleted the Video apk from my phone... Doh! I did find one for 2.3.6 But I'm currently on 2.3.5. Does anyone either happen to have the video apk for 2.3.5 for the skyrocket?
Much appreciated!

This is what I found, so far... The com.sec.vido files gave me a Parsing error when I clicked on them?
I do have nandroid backups, just never gone into them to look around.
I had hoped that I could have used TB to just restore... But TB "thinks" that it's gone...
There's also 2-3 other files that keep showing up in TB that I've been trying to remove, ie; great.app. luck?
Also... For some reason I can't upload photos at the moment... But that's been off & on?

Found "system.ext4.tar" in my nandroid backup, now one question... So that I am not posting from my pc because I didn't make sure
Do I copy the system.ext4.tar to system / app... Extract it there, then paste the unzipped files there, or just unzip anywhere & then paste in system.app?
Thanks!

Ok, I tried copying com.sec.android.app.videoplayer into system / app.. Then tried extracting it there... But I get a "failed to create...."
There is a com.sec.android.app.videoplayer apk there already... But it won't successfully install? I checked permissions & they seem fine..?
What am I missing?
Thanks

Navigate to your cwm backup, I use root explorer. Long press system.ext4.tar, choose extract, after its done extracting go to the the extracted file. Navigate to system/app, scroll down and find video apk, longpress and choose copy, navigate to your system/app and paste the apk in there. Make sure system/app is rw and not ro, after pasting the apk in system app reboot and enjoy

I was using esExplorer, but I also tried root explorer... But the same result.. The system.ext4.tar icon looks like any other zipped file, but the options only include things like; copy, move, compress?
I'll try with root browser now.

I used root browser, & I was able to extract the system.ext4.tar (don't know why I couldn't with the other two?) copied the video apk to system / app... Rebooted... Tried to make a test video & watch it.. Force closes... Went back to root browser... Clicked on video apk... Selected install.. Install failed.. Went to TB to see if com.sec.video was showing as installed... Nope?
CORRECTION: I used root EXPLORER not root browser.

Look at the top of your last pic below to the file name, its mounted as ro, needs to be mounted as rw. Strange though. You muat have mounted it as rw at some point right? I mean the apk is in there. Are you sure that the nandroid you've extraxted was of your stock 2.3.5?
Try fixing permissions, that might help but I doubt it

Yeah, I know... That's why I posted the photo.. Everywhere else it shows rw...
The backup is stock from Dec 2011.
Fixing permissions with rom manager or directly on the apk?
But look at this photo... At the top it's showing rw now? :banghead::banghead:

There's definitely some differences between esExplorer & root explorer..
Root explorer would not let me delete the video apk.. It said it was read only.
esExplorer let me delete it. Also in esExplorer, clicking on the apk allows you to try and fix permissions... I didn't see that it root explorer?
I'm going to start from scratch... Again.. Using the system.ext4.tar from the stock CWM backup.
I really hope that my stupidity helps someone else.... It all started when I accidentally deleted the Video apk, instead of the vending.apk, because I wanted to install the inverted market theme! (which works just great) :banghead:

In root explorer there should be a button next to ro that let's you switch between ro and rw. Good idea, start from scratch

Hi, first and foremost you need to get rooted... pretty much anything you will want to use will require root access... I use esfile explorer, its free and IMHO better than root explorer... the file explorers wont access system root files until you root your note and then give the file explorer SU permission. After that, you will go to the system folder and then app folder, and copy the widget, make a new folder on your SD card and paste it in there... then, if you ever want it back, you simply reverse the c&p process.

I use Root Explorer. This was my method of install in case it helps anyone.
1. Download APK
2. Go to root explorer> system> app
3. Make sure it is mounted as R/W (attached screenshot) and press and hold to rename the APK files you are changing by adding .bak (attached screenshot) to the name. This will disable the app rather than deleting it in case you want to re-use it later.
4. Still in root explorer hit the back button and go to SD card>download
5. Find the new apk you downloaded, press and hold choose move.
6. Go back to system> app and select paste.
After that, your new widget will be active.

Is this only for de-odexed or can I use it on odex? I couldnt tell from looking at the files. I still havent put a custom ROM on since its limited at the moment while the makers are hard at work with the new leak.
EDIT
After looking at the file size of android.policy.jar I guess Im going to assume and say this is for de-odexed folks sine that file is about 200k and the original odex version of that is only 313bytes with the android.policy.odex being the larger one.

Not deodexed here either - installed on the [CWM][ROM][ICS] UCLE2 Leak flashable zip [4.04]. However, I still only have four options - different icons though - and not the full extended power menu?
You just might just need to re-flash it.

Just did - cleared cache/wiped dalvik x3 each, installed powermenu.zip twice, cleared cache/wiped dalvik and rebooted. Still only have the 4 options.
What would happen if I renamed android.policy.odex to something else? I noticed on the .apk side under /system/app that some have .odex files and some don't (i.e. attCodeScanner.apk does not have a corresponding .odex file).
EDIT: was ages ago but I think I did an update for something where you had to rename the .odex and the .apk file when updating something that someone had done (I believe it was SystemUI.apk if I recall correctly). Just wondering if the same logic/process would hold true if this new powermenu.zip contains a deodexed file in it.

Since the code I edited to adjust for the extra options are in smali code u wont see the full extended power options becux on odex roms you have android.policy.odex and you have framework-res.apk which holds the drawables an explains why u can see the changed icons but not the rest of the options, you could try to go to /system/framework and manually delete android.policy.odex and do a reboot, it might fix it or not otherwise make a backup of the android.policy.odex just in case.

I'm running Sean's odexed rom and until he gets one deodexed and an extended menu I use Quick boot and use Elixer 2 to add reboot and recovery Widgets to status bar.

Ahhh Sean's isn't deodexed yet? Been using Quick Boot already - guess I'll keep with it for now.

If you unzip the rom package and go under system/apps/ there is an apk file in there called swagpapers.apk . I believe that is the wallpaper package. All you would need to do is copy that .apk file and then paste it in system/apps/ for any rom you want to use them in.

Correct me if i am wrong but also don't forget to set the permissions to - rw-r-r. Once copied under system/app

You shouldnt have to mess around with the permissions..
If placing it in the system/app folder, you will need to edit permissions...

Im assuming you mean if your transferring from SD card? I unzip the ROM, past the apk in the folder and rezip and sign the ROM... So i dont have to change any permissions.

You can't install system apps from Internal/External SD card. You would have to drag and drop it under system/apparently and set the permissions.

OK... Then im confused... Because when i drag and drop it and rezip and resign the ROM, thats all i have to do... I definitely do not change permissions and have no issues...
I believe the term for this is Beating a dead horse.

Setting permissions only applys to an installed ROM. Perhaps a person has trouble on the latest update with the browser apk of your ROM, he then would just rip out the browser apk from the previous release. And throw it in with the correct permissions (from previous), to see if it fixed any issues.

Must be rooted. Edit build.prop persist.splitwindow .support_all
open system folder
-scroll to build.prop (past folders)
-copy/make backup
-open as text in text editor
-scroll to persist.splitwindow.support_all
-change value to true
- save and reboot
Depending on your app/tool you may need to copy build.prop somewhere, edit and replace old one in system with edited version.
Enjoy.

rooted but can't find build.prop
I'm rooted but having trouble finding build.prop to edit so I can have all apps on split screen. I just came over from HTC my and that was a difficult phone to root so I feel I can do it on this OS but I'm just asking if you can give me a step by step walk through. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanked.

You need a good file manager with system access or an app or an app to edit build.prop. I use rom toolbox pro. Root Explorer is a good option I've used before too.

I tried root Explorer, but the editor says that the file is too big and week not save changes...

Working great, thanks! What kind of order are the apps in? Mine seems pretty random.
Random also

I didn't make this, but it works. Props to XabdullahX for making this.

mjgspr95 great info - Might want to edit the OP to show the procedure and possibly change the title to [GUIDE] How to enable all apps in SplitView just to make it easier to find for people and keep the forums organized - also I am pretty sure this should be in General. But thank you for the info - it worked great for me.
and for those who are looking for a file browser - might want to check out ROOT Explorer

I bet you are trying to use Root Explorer to edit the file. Unfortunately the file size is too big and Root Explorer A) won't even show the entire file's contents and B) won't let you save the file even if the right commands were editable......
You have to find another alternative. Personally I pushed the file out of the phone, edited it on my computer, and pushed it back to the phone. It worked fine.

As much as I like (and also recommend) Root Explorer, it won't work with the build.prop file as it is too big for the Root Explorer text editor.

I use root explorer as well. I didn't realize that the text editor cant handle that large of a file... Anyway this is the way that I got around it on my Mac:
On Mac:
adb pull /system/build.prop .
vi build.prop
<Make changes>
adb push ./build.prop /mnt/sdcard/
On phone:
Remount /system RW in Root explorer
Rename /system/build.prop to /system/build.prop.bak
Move /sdcard/build.prop to /system/build.prop
Reboot
You could always just download build prop editor from the play store and it works and is easy.

Edited the build.prop file. Ended up soft bricking my phone. Was able to reset but not fun.
This is an app that doesn't require mucking with build prop. Works well for me.
