If you unzip the rom package and go under system/apps/ there is an apk file in there called swagpapers.apk . I believe that is the wallpaper package. All you would need to do is copy that .apk file and then paste it in system/apps/ for any rom you want to use them in.

You shouldnt have to mess around with the permissions..
If placing it in the system/app folder, you will need to edit permissions...

Im assuming you mean if your transferring from SD card? I unzip the ROM, past the apk in the folder and rezip and sign the ROM... So i dont have to change any permissions.

You can't install system apps from Internal/External SD card. You would have to drag and drop it under system/apparently and set the permissions.

OK... Then im confused... Because when i drag and drop it and rezip and resign the ROM, thats all i have to do... I definitely do not change permissions and have no issues...
I believe the term for this is Beating a dead horse.

Setting permissions only applys to an installed ROM. Perhaps a person has trouble on the latest update with the browser apk of your ROM, he then would just rip out the browser apk from the previous release. And throw it in with the correct permissions (from previous), to see if it fixed any issues.

that one doesn't look nearly as well done imo.
A single icon isn't supposed to come out of the corner, etc...
This one is perfect.
What is the difference between corners and fast corners?
which one is better?
here's the quote
"What's Fast Corners?
I've made the fade animation when tapping a corner instant so that the corner expanding animation plays more smoothly. Basically this just reduces the number of simultaneous animations going on resulting in less work. Even on my HDPI Samsung Galaxy S this made a slight difference in performance. The tweak is non-trivial and the change is extremely minor but for users with LDPI and MDPI devices this should improve that animation."
I actually tried both, and I recommend fast corners. Seems to look much smoother, though both are awesome

@djkekko89 : Maybe try renaming it to Home.apk and then move to system/app, fix permissions, & reboot. Or uninstall your current Home(have another launcher installed so you can still use your phone) and then try installing normally. Not sure if either will work but it's worth a try...
Remember to back up your current Home.apk as these methods will replace it.

So, bad news. SOMEBODY, spilled something on my laptop and now it won't even boot up. So it may be a while. But what you can do is take a existing xrecovery zip, unzip it with root explorer delete everything except "META-INF" folder, create a new folder named "system", enter that folder and create another folder called "app" and then copy the launcher in there, zip it up using root explorer and you have a xrecovery zip

i have some file bootanimation.zip. but i do'nt know how to use with this rom.
Using Root Explorer go to System/media.
Then after turning on Read/Write in Root Explorer replace the current ZIP with your choice. Set the permission rw-r-r and reboot.
Sometimes you need to name it sanim.zip instead of bootanimation.zip

And yet my bootanimation went back to stock after a week of using Zeus. I ended up having to manually rename the sanim.zip to bootanimation.zip to get the custom boot animation back. Bottomline, search and try to do things yourself before posting a topic. A boot animation is simple, so the flashing should be harmless to your phone if you have a general idea of what you are doing.

Hi,
I'm not an android developement expert but have a question about your advice.
If we delete only the app from /system/app folder (and nothing more. via root explorer), won't it cause trouble?
I would like to give an example for clearing this issue in my mind. In windows, if we just delete the exe file from the Program Files, it doesn't mean we uninstalled the program. It still lefts dll files etc. Is it like this in android?
I asked this because I wanna uninstall the apk's in my custom rom like Google Player or DSP Manager. The developer installed them inside the custom rom, so they look like system apps and as a result I can't uninstall them...
replace them via root explorer and check the permission for new file then restart your device and it will work

adroid system are module style, a apk consist of every thing needed to run the apps. but some app need extra lib file, if you can find the lib file used by a apk to run, than you can delete it form system/lib too.
Exactly what the post above said. Some system apps have .lib files (like windows dll) but i would leave them if i were you because your replacement apps might have dependancies on those lib files. Im not entirely sure.
Also, the libs are stored in system/lib

Apps specially for ICS won't work in gb roms. These 2 version of roms are quite different.
Pls don't simply mess up with the roms version.

Btw, if you back up your original rom's apk files, there is a chance to use them on your custom roms. It has a higher chance if your custom is based on your original rom.
For example, I backed up samsung's music player and photo editor apk on original DDLF2 and installed them on my custom Frankestain rom. Now I'm using them with no problems. I must mention, the original fm radio apk didn't work on custom rom, as it needen some special libraries/frameworks.
I think the stock had specific ringtones but I'm not sure. I didn't use it for very long.
Ideally I would like to have both the motorola and CM ringtones available.
thank you
Custom roms remove the stock ringtones. I asked this question a while back but no one answered so I guess it isn't possible.
It is possible as far as I know, just copy them from the system folder and put them in the new one, give permissions and they should be there when you reboot
