Remove latest stock update before installing? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I like a dumbass, downloaded the latest AT&T update before I knew I can't install (have removed bloatware). I have postponed 3 times and it reported the next was a forced install.
I looked on the SD card and SD external but don't see it. Where can I find the file to delete it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk

The update files are in /data/fota, cache/fota, and /data/data/com.wssyncmldm
Main download file is /data/data/com.wssyncmldm/2400258.cfg, if I'm not mistaken.

Go into applications and clear cache on Device Management. It will stop you from getting the install message. You will get the message that an update is ready to download though. make sense?

That seemed to work. Just needed to shut it off for now. Going to flash back to stock when I have a chance.

[ROM] (2/28/13) NANDROID Restore Stock FR 2.22 V10f / GB 2.33 V21e and 2.34 V21y

Stock Nandroid Restores for 2.22 Froyo and 2.33/2.34 GingerBreadfor T-Mobile G2x LG P999 only!
(These Nandroid restores are not rooted and are in complete stock condition.)
Instructions:
1. You must have ROM Manager installed and or ClockworkMod Recovery flashed and an external sdcard installed. Then have the directory and file contents of the "LG-P999-V10f.zip" or "LG-P999-V20e.zip" file extracted to your external SDCard in the /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/LG-P999-V10f directory. If the directory does not exist then create it.
There must be a directory called "LG-P999-V10f" or "LG-P999-V21e" or "LG-P999-V21y" in the "/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup" subdirectory and the files must be directly in that directory, not in another nested directory or Nandroid will not find the files. (Note: If you have any spaces in your directory name. You will get a md5 check some error.)

2. Run ROM Manager and choose Reboot into Recovery or boot phone into clockworkmod recovery.
3. In recovery go down to backup and restore, choose restore.
4. Select LG-P999-V10f or LG-P999-V21e or LG-P999-V21y and choose Yes - Restore.
5. When the restore finishes do not reboot yet. Do a "wipe data/factory reset" from the recovery menu (just to be thorough).
6. When it completes choose Reboot.

By clean do you mean that all of the bloatware and T-Mobile apps are gone?
Not to thread jack but how do you backup stock g2x rom with rom manager?
I tried it and it didn't do anything.

I used Rom Manager to flash Clockwork Mod, then rebooted into recovery and backed it up. You need a micro SD card of course.

Just to clarify a bit. Drop the folder into clockworkmod/backup/ on your SD card. Made no sense when I first looked at the file path.
Tried this as a restore since my connectivity still sucks. I am getting a MD5 miss match. . . . What ever that means, I have no idea.

Installing a newer rom version

Sorry to beat a dead horse but I have to ask. Ive receive some good advice on how to do this but I'm still not total clear on the procedure. I'm currently running infused 1.5 and would like to update to newest version. In lamins terms what are the exact steps. I've referanced the dev section but all I really see is how to install from stock. When I referenced the dev page I noticed and downloaded the full infused 1.5.2 and when I looked into root manager its listed as whitesmoke installer. If that's what I need than I suppose I need instructions from this point on. Thanks.

MUCH easier and faster way is simply go to free ROM Manager, go to gtg and download 1.5.0 to 1.5.2 update only which is under 3MB, then phone will auto reboot and install everything. Takes less than 2 minutes.

That's what I thought but I think I was told not to use rom manager, I think I was told that because of the possibility of green text but I'm red so maybe I could have used rom manager. Any who, I installed the new version and it was pretty painless. I'm kind of upset in a small way, I lost the slide unlock and slide to silent, it went back to the original slide. Any way to get it back?

[Q] Installing SCV7 on ICS Leak #1

Hey guys!
I am kind of new to this scene, but i got ICS Leak #1 installed on my ATT A2 working fine, but i want to try to get scv7 on it. I am not sure how to install it. I have installed other ROMs in the past while on GB but since now there are 2 different leaks, i want to make sure that i dont mess my phone up and brick my it.
While, scrolling down on the scv7 thread, i can see this link.
RESTORE LEAK #1 in Bootmenu as first system
SCV7 ICS Leak #1 Based (July 6th 2012 ICS)
http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/.../SCV7/SCV7.zip
Click to collapse
Is this the file i am supposed to download? Also, there is no steps for that... Only on the leak #2 do they show the steps. Do i need to wipe/factory reset? So I install it from SD or treat it like a backup?
I just want to make sure of these things before i do anything stupid. I have backed my phone up with the Boot Menu Manager that i downloaded from the Play Store.
Just in case: THIS was the method i used, as well as that same download link for the ICS OTA.
Thanks in advance!

Awesome! I will try it right now.
Umm....
I ran into a bit of a problem.
When i try to install the zip it says...
--Installing: /sdcard/SCV7.zip

Opening update package...

Installation aborted.
What could be wrong?
By the way, when i went to erase the data and cache, it said
[...]Formatting /emmc/.android_secure...
Error mounting /emmc/.android_secure!
Skipping format...
Data wipe complete.
The dalvik wiped alright.
EDIT: Oh, and when i did the backup it said [..]
No /emmc/.android_secure found. Skipping backup of applications on external storage. [...]
But i just ignored that and went on with the process....

how to remove the firmware update notfication?

i am on ics and want to stay on ics for personsl reasons, i am rooted, is there registry files or files on the tablet that i can modify to remove the notfication? i did a quick google search but the solution was for phones (remove the battery) you can't remove battery on a tablet so i have to use something else to remove the notfication.
it installed the jellybean update to memory (400mb) so i want to remove those files too, i hope someone can help me in this situation!

If you have ES File explorer and have all the root permissions checked for the app,I think you could do a search for it if you know what it was called?Or maybe an advanced search in ESF by date?

How do you know it even downloaded? If it downloaded I think it would apply the update immediately.Check in your about settings maybe it is already running the update.OTA updates won't delete your settings or apps or anything like that.

Google Play Store "No Connection"

So I have a rooted GS3 running stock 4.1.2 and I flashed one of those inverted Google play store apps using twrp. Then when I rebooted my device for another reason and went into the play store, it said no connection even though my WiFi and 4g are both fine. I uninstalled all updates to the app, but then the play store would crash even when running in the background. So I found the latest version of the play store I could online, which was 4.0.2.5 which isn't the most recent. But now I still have the same no connection problem. Any solutions? I've also tried clearing data and cache from the app

This happened to me to me once, I fixed it by restoring a backup. I couldn't really figure out what was causing it. I know I messed it up by clearing data on system framework. But I have no idea how that messed it up.
You could just flash a custom rom and that will fix the issue. The problem is that the playstore is being updated constantly. Any Inverted playstore I have running ends up getting automatically updated to the most recent release anyways, so I just kind of gave up theming it. You probably installed an old version of playstore. The playstore must have some automatic connection protocol that enables it to automatically update without permission, and an old playstore might not allow that connection.
You might just be able to completely delete the playstore from your phone to install a recent one, but I have no idea if that would work. Someone has to know how to fix this without a restore or flashing a new rom.

That will work for sure, just have to find a custom rom you like. Your play store won't restore even if it's backed up through titanium. It's a good idea to have titanium anyway.
Never restore system data, only restore user apps + data. That's known to cause problems after a restore.

Are you new to flashing roms? Just make sure you do all the proper steps first.
Nandroid and unlock bootloader first.
factory reset, wipe cache and Dalvik cache, format system, then flash rom.

I'm now at the point where Google Drive and Google+ keep crashing too. I'm realizing this is a problem with all the google apps, so what would happen if I just flashed a gapps zip file for 4.1.2 via TWRP? would that work since this seems to be a problem within all the apps by google? im running the latest ota, the MD3 build.

That is very strange, give it a shot, flashing a gapps package might work. I do think it's a problem with the Google apps though, so your play store is working right? I think all you need now is let the play store auto update. Maybe there's a way to force it. That should allow the rest of your apps to work.

so if anybody having this problem again
i get mine fixed by doing this :
1. Open any file explorer that have root access
2. Search for a folder named "system" and then look for a folder that says "etc"
3. Inside "etc" folder search for a file that says "host" . edit that text using any text editor
4. Delete everything in the host file
5. Save
I ended up fixing it by flashing another rom, using titanium backup to copy the play store. and then reflashed back to the original rom I was using and then restored with copy of the play store i previously had.

4. Delete everything in the host file
5. Save
Click to collapse
The host file is read-only, I can't modify it.
I too have the same issue and cannot edit the file due to read-only permissions.
