[Q] hellfire ics 1.5 lockscreen temporary placeholder? - T-Mobile LG G2x

hello, i just installed hellfire 1.5 and when i go to lock screen or theme i cant access it because it tells me to temporarily placeholder until functionality merged? i have no idea what it is talking about and I search just about every where to look for help. I was wondering if anybody could help me ?
also when i install roms should I use a nullifier?

Guessing it hasn't had any code implemented for those two sections yet, the first releases of ICS on our phones had that also, I personally never have and never will use a nullify script or whatever since I've had no problems so far but everyone seems to feel they fix issues when flashing so I'm indifferent on that. The AOKP release of ICS by Whitehawkx had lockscreen customization amongst other choices

Best Rom for Infuse

I am getting a little overwhelmed...all these great roms coming out. I see that dman works a lot on porting...and now he has CatyRom. I am trying to get a poll on everyones opinion regarding the best rom for the infuse. Recently got my infuse...day after I got it, I installed UCKK1...now UCKK3 and downloading UCKK4, DarkyRom JVR 10.3 and CatyRom all at the same time.
Decisions...decisions. Help me out guys/gals!
Thanks.
In reality they are are the best roms. It comes down to preferences really. I for example like simple roms, that I can customize to my liking so I use CM7.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I figured it is a matter of preference but I am more interested in functionality and which ROMs are working in full. Themes included would be nice but not necessary. I am running GB 2.6.35.7 and really modded Homescreen.
You can start by picking a category of ROM. There are Froyo and Gingerbread ROM's (and ROM's with ICS framework that have been banned, so you'll need to look elsewhere for those), there are Samsung ROM's and there are AOSP/CM/MIUI ROM's, there are AT&T ROM's and there are non-AT&T ROM's, there are Infuse-based ROM's and there are Galaxy S-based ROM's. Each category of ROM will only work with a matching category of kernel. You should start by learning the differences between these: for example, AT&T Infuse-based ROM's paired with AT&T Infuse-based kernels are the only ones that support MHL/HDMI-out on the Infuse. Samsung ROM's have TouchWiz framework, apps, and out-of-the box support for more media formats than other ROM's (non-TouchWiz ROM's will require 3rd party apps to play the same music and video files). Galaxy S-based ROM's will have the no-sound-on-first-call-after-boot bug. For example, DarkyROM is a Galaxy S-based non-AT&T Samsung Gingerbread ROM, whereas UCKK4 is an Infuse-based AT&T Samsung Gingerbread ROM (which only has HDMI support when paired with the stock UCKK4 kernel).
Just curious why are the ics framework roms so taboo? Esp since we still have no gb support(not to mention att pretty much already killed the phone) from the phone creators I figured you developers are our only hope.
Hardwise aside from low ram how well do yall think ics would run?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I'm no developer, but it has to do with starting from scratch on everything from the kernel up to the framework for ics, whereas with gb there have been several leaks to start off of and tweak. so technically if a developer were to start from scratch, they'd probably use ics. but we don't have any developers that dedicated for infuse, most top developers left the infuse forums months ago.
so asking for a full ics rom from the start-up devs we do have is a little above and beyond, and the experienced devs we do have won't spend that much time on this phone. and devs don't like it very much when someone who doesn't have a deeper understanding of what goes into making a rom just states that they want one.
and ics would run fine on the infuse if developed properly (and especially if officially). Technically the infuse should get ics as per the statement samsung made back in May at google IO about keeping phones sold updated for 18 months or something like that, but doubt that will ever happen.

Since the infuse is now officially supported by Galnet Miui we will see ics one way or the other
So ics frameworks were banned because the moderators don't think the infuse developers have enough experience?

No, the ICS framework roms i think used kernals where the source had not been released, which is illegal. I have a terrible memory, but I think that's why, but correct me if I'm wrong

The kernel used in the thread for Galnet MIUI ICS for the Infuse actually did have its source posted. But then the link to the source disappeared and the thread was locked. Conspiracy? But now that there's an official build on the Galnet site, I don't really care.
What kernals
Can we use on CM7.
I am a compulsive flasher, there you go I admit it.
One thing though I am sure it's been mentioned somewhere but what kernals work with CM7 RC02. I see some kernals mention they will softbrick the phone, so avoid those but which don't.
Many thanks
Ah Ok I found that hard to believe that mods would do that. Ty for the reply

Favorite Rom
Most usable Rom for me has been Serendipity VII.
Everything works except HDMI. Has the first call bug.
I wish I could utilize MIUI or CM7 on a daily basis, but I like streaming bluetooth music and/or calls to my car and those 2 roms lack proper bluetooth drivers.
download a few roms test see what one you like most

I'd like to join this if I may
Which one has the best kernel for max CPU performance? ie 1.5Ghz+
Infusion kernel is the only GB kernel that can be OC ...and its 1.4 or 1.6..

Is this what most ROM's use? Or do most ROM's utilize the original kernel included in the stock phone? I should probably read the details of the roms more clearly right?
Well...the roms I build all include entropys daily driver which cannot be overclocked but is an amazing and smooth kernel....the ported roms have the modified hellraiser kernel but u can flash entropys or bedwas infusion kernel over them....yes reading would be better before you flash anything

[Q] Drop-down menu widgets?

Hey guys. I switched from my slow, glitchy, and just aging captivate to the nexus S a few days ago, and I love it.
There are a couple things I miss though - the big one being the quick setting widgets in the drop down menu. I don't care if it's an app/widget from the market, or something I have to flash in to the rom. I just want those settings up there.
Is there a way to add those without flashing another rom? I like stock gingerbread (and I'll be switching to ICS when it comes out OTA for 9020A) and I don't want to flash a custom rom like CM or something. I'm rooted, but other than that I'm stock 2.3.6.
Other things I miss are a predictive dialer, and swype. If you can help me out there too I'd be greatly appreciative!
Edit: Oh, and the music controls shown in the menu would be nice too! (but only if it will work for google music)
When I moved to the NS from a Vibrant I felt the same way. There is no way to do it without some modding and I don't remember ever seeing a simple flashable zip to add it to GB. I ended up having a love hate relationship with CM7 but have moved to ICS and there is a mod to add it to some ICS roms in the dev section. I have yet to bother adding it.
Anyway, yes it can be done but not without some flashing or modding but if you aren't wanting to do that you are out of luck.
You can get similar functionality to pics with widget locker or extended controls, you get an icon or space in the status bar though. GB doesn't support it.
Music widget as above is available in stock ics too.

I really like stock, but I can flash if I *have* to... I've had a love hate relationship with CM myself, I felt like it took a little too much effort to keep up and running.. With the Google apps packs, and the nighties and constant backing up and flashing, you know. Is CM up to ICS for the Nexus S 9020a yet?
I also recently came from the captivate. I was also determined to stay stock and wait for the ics ota but....
The development for the ns is light years ahead of what you and I were used to and i am impressed after flashing a pretty much stock ics rom with a custom kernel. No toggles in the drop down but it sure is nice having everything working like it should. Fast and smooth! Peter Alphonso's ics

Newest Galnet MiUi port for G2x released

It adds some more ICS functionality (like a 4 way lock screen with dedicated Camera slider), ICS camera app, and some other fixes. I am running it on my current G2x. It seems far more stable than the previous release.
You can check it out here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13939-rom-miui-port-miuius-galnet-miuiandroid-updated-02052012/
the link shows 02/02/12 I flashed that and saw absolutely no differences in that build to the ones from dec 2011... I played with it for a whole day and it was not good at all, lag (stock kernel) all day horrible battery, and wifi was funky 9just seemed slower then it should have been. All on a fresh install after full wipe using scrubber and wiping system & data twice... Just my opinion though.
Very strange, are you sure you flashed the right one? I flashed mine and I have the ICS camera and ICS lockscreen now. Wifi and 3g/4g seem to be far more responsive than before as well and I don't have any lag issues either.
that lock-screen is just a theme, and that camera is the same MIUI camera that has always been there.
The lockscreen isn't a theme, it is what comes with the newest MiUi, and the camera is different too.
It as at least different from the previous release of Galnet and I am definitely running smoother than before. I have had no crashes, no battery pulls, and much more responsive. The previous release was crashing in market:games, this one has no such issues. Of course this is how I installed it:
Load into recovery, wipe user data then mounts and storage format/system, then installed Galnet stable 2.2.1 then MiUi 2.2.3 over top. I suppose I could have installed just MiUi 2.2.3 but I read something about it needing previous versions to install on top of first for stability. Either way, I am just a messenger, the ROM works wonders for me.

yes the lockscreen is a theme...
it is called default_theme.mtz
like the stock layout on miui is also a theme you can just include another ¨default theme" and it will show when you install the rom
and about the camera it is just the stock MIUI camera.apk

The camera is just themed, nothing is new, it's all a theme. It's called "MIUI" for a reason-- it is extremely customizable.
Yup all just a theme...
Hell, you can make the lockscreen look exactly like sense, doesn't mean it is... and that camera is the regular MIUI camera.

Did you not see all the comments from the rest of the community that told him he his wrong? I think he got Owned.
true...mmmm guys by the way anyone can give me a few links for how to become a developer? i wana learn i ussually learn fast.. i got windows 7 64bit ic an develop with this? i wana become pro developer like you guys we cannot let our G2x Die
there is no getting owned there are a bunch of people calling miui a theme which is strange because it is a flashable ROM that can be themed which has nothing to really do with the point of what was said. In other words a bunch of pricks who would rather nitpick than actually provide any form of useful information. All I was doing was making people aware of the port being available. Currently when you flash the ROM it gives you the ICS 4 way unlock screen. As the default lockscreen for the ROM that makes it no longer a theme but default. Can you apply a theme over it and change it? Surely you can. Was that the point of the message in the first place, no? So here is an idea, you want people to help develop on the G2x and I assume you want people to actually support XDA, so don't be a bunch of pricks. Don't say pwned or owned or whatever you think is going to make you elite in your mind. Be polite, you know you can do that with out being a total **** about it. This is also the reason why developers stop responding and why less people start posting and why eventually the community and the development for the phone goes down hill. So be proud, be proud that you are leading the charge into prickdom. I am sure it will make XDA that much better.

just cause it has a theme defaulted doesn't make it an "ICS functional" rom, it makes it any other MIUI rom with a theme on it. I'm not trying to be a prick I'm just saying that there are way too many posts about MIUI having ICS in it, when it clearly doesn't have even some of the minor things in it. The camera especially why in the world would MIUI have an ICS camera for the g2x already lol? Again, I understand you were just trying to let people know of a port but when it has a lot of "false" information that only leads to people freaking out, and having little bits of false hope for an ICS rom when it doesn't even have the simple animations/transitions of ICS. Maybe it is just me, but I'll be that "prick" to tell you that it isn't an ICS rom. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.
Except it actually does have ICS functionality in the Galnet release. It would actually be super sweet if you got off your high horse, stopped with the you are posting false information crappie and actually read the release notes for the ROM next time. Yes, it has ICS functions, no I never claimed it was running ICS as full blown ROM. I am sorry you think you are providing some deep insight into what I was posting. You aren't. You are simply trying to get the last word and making your self look like an even bigger prick at the same time. Also as far as hurting my feelings, what are you ****ing 12 years old? I don't care what you have to say except that you are wrong thinking that ICS functions means ICS ROM. So, if you don't like what I have to say report it or move the **** on.

Only place in that changelog that says anything about ICS or 4.0 is the rom version he posts in the changelog (which is from 11.26) it says 2.3.7 framework all over the place. Please copy and paste where it says ICS anything... and why you so mad?

[Q] Whats the best ROM for i9020T

Dear friends,
I have Nexus S on t-mobile ICS 4.0.4, i would like to know which one is the best of best room for my phone.
I want a rom that i can count on and theme.
i have found two of theme here on site..
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1483033
2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425344
Which one can i use for my t-mobile i9020t
Well, everyone will like a different ROM. This is mostly a personal question and you will have to test a few before you decide which one you like more.
Bedalus benchmarks might tip the scale:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481856
Now, if you ask me, I really like MIUIXperience since it offers nice theming over MIUI (loving Xperia launcher and other stuff). Haven't had any problems with it (except for some known bugs that the DEV is working on).
koush isnt making roms, not for the nexus s at least. you probably meant cm9, which is not koushes work. plus there are many more roms out in the dev section, some are more popular than the roms that you listed.
Where is Bugless Beast on poll!?
Like stated previously, it is all completely up to you. Just try them all until you find the one you like
I'll tell you about my experiences though with CyberGR v10 (previous ROM) and Bugless Beast (current ROM):
CyberGR was great but there were too may mods I didn't personally need. Also, different applications would lag at times like email, facebook, or even the T9 dialer (sometimes it would up to 5 seconds to pull up my dialer and contacts which was ultra annoying). I tried many different kernels and overclocking options but it still lagged or even rebooted. Thus I decided to change.
I switched to Bugless Beast and I am very happy with it as my daily driver. It is very simple mod and close to stock ICS and I just applied my own additional modifications to suit my needs like the kernel change to support BLN, BLD, and voodoo. This ROM is very snappy, has a great battery life, and everything works as far as I know even with my modifications.
May I ask, how do you edit the image files of a custom rom to remove few applications and change the language files

[Q] Instability of ICS Leak

I switched over to the ICS leak and I have been experiencing a lot of instability. Many different apps f/c all the time. The phone freezes everytime I open the dialer or some other apps. Sometimes I have to shut it down to bring it back. I was wondering if this is because of the ICS leak and are there any alternatives out there. Also what are the trade offs for those alternatives.
I used to be on rooted stock and my phone had the freezing problem but it was not as bad.
Essentially, what can I get to be rooted and functional with limited trade offs.
That's the nature of using a leaked rom. If you want stability, go back to GB. Easy peasy.
Tried all ics roms but sky 4.2D-10 and smooth ice 5.1.. wondering if either one of them have the speed and responsiveness gb has. I hate that i press the home button and it doesnt go instantly. Does anyone know if either one of these do ? or should i stay with GB too.

I apologize for having offended you but that is not my expectation. To clarify my question. I am asking whether other users are experiencing this instability or if its device specific. I did mention that I had problems with the device before upgrade so I am also trying to determine if I have a hardware issue. I am also trying to expand my knowledge about the builds that are out there.

Yes, you're not the only one.
I'm back on GB also.
In my case, it was issues with a few apps working, but being slightly buggy. Just enough so, to be irritating.
Not quite ready for ICS, or vice-versa.
At least with UCALC4.
I never got a chance to try UCLD2, since it broke bluetooth for me.

I still consider myself a noob but have been having a great time on sky ice 4.2d10. I haven't been having any real issues that I wasn't able to fix. Very stable.
The key to being a highly functional noob is read the s*#t out of the posts for any rom you're interested in. Once you do that reread it 20 more times.

I think Sky 4.2 is the most popular. That's the one I'm on right now. I'm using the UCALC4 radio because the UCLD2 one seemed to drain my battery. I haven't tried Smooth ICE yet, but I used his previous UCALC4 version and it was great. The only reason I uninstalled was b/c UCALC had the google contacts sync problem. If Sky Ice starts acting up on me, I will try Smooth Ice 5.1.
Speed and responsiveness of GB? In my experience all of the ICS roms (or leaks) have been way faster than any of the GB roms I've used. So far, I've had little to no problems with UCLD2 that wasn't caused by myself. The only thing I wish for is a toggle to switch btwn HSPA and LTE so I don't have to turn off the device to do it, but I think we'll have to wait for a Rogers leak for that.

Yes, a lot of reading is key!

I am really picky. I never found an Atrix ROM (previous phone) I liked (it was complicated by the fact that I used and still use the lapdock, however).
My first go with ICS Rom was not good. Laggy, issues, etc.
I didn't give up and have been using Sky ICS 4.2D now for a couple of weeks. It is faster than gb, I have not had one fc and everything is really smooth. Only thing I don't like is the contacts are not part of the dialer (issue with all the ICS roms) but it is a minor issue outweighed (imho) by the benefits.
I think the key to the ICS ROMs is doing it exactly by the book; follow the instructs..
Yeah im having same problem. Just not smoov enough for me. Official should be coming soon. Glad i could taste the ics a lil bit though. It was good!!! Lol hello gingerbread
