i have just bought a g1, but no data plan.

Hi. As the title says. I have just bought my dad a g1 from ebay, he has a tmobile payg sim card with no data plan, I have a g1 with a g1 data plan, if he uses my sim card to activate it will he still get the ability to take and make calls?

As far as I know, he'll need to use data to activate it as he will need to sign on with his GMail account.

What do you meen by data, he will use my sim to aactivate and his gmail to sync data, and after that he will swap to his payg tmob sim card, so will he get phone call ability,

yeah he would be able to activate it with your sim card. But once he puts in his sim card, the data charges may start to come up. I would say before you put in his sim card, delete the apn settings. that should kill any data from working so it is then just a phone. But the wifi can still work. or have his plan upgraded to a flexpay with the g1 service. You dont need a contract with that..

Yup that's gud, so deleat the apn's to stop tmob from charging and just use as normal g1 without 3g or grps or edge, ps how do I deleat apns

I am sure thats how it works. you can get "NetMeter" from the marketplace. that will tell you if there is anything accessing the data plan.
to remove apn go to
menu --> wireless controls --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names in there you will want to click on T-Mobile US - T-Mobile US 800 and remove the APN. Assuming you are in the US.

[Q] No 3g/gsm on htc desire with French sim card

Hi, I have got an unlocked htc desire, which worked normally in the uk with a vodafone sim. I have put in a french sim (with 500Mb data per month on contract) and can use the phone but not get mobile data. I have set the phone to data while roaming, but with no access to data.
Can anyone help with a solution to get the phone to receive data I desire?

You will need to input the correct Access Point Name (APN) for the French carrier you are using. You can google to get 'XXX APN settings', then enter the APN under 'Access Point Names' in Settings > Wireless and Networking.

my infuse won't connect to the data network

i recently switched from my captivate to the infuse and have not been able to connect to the data network/3g. i connect to wifi fine. data network is activated. using data packets is checked. is there anything that i am missing? can it be that i need a new sim card? or do i need to change my data plan from a regular smartphone data plan to a 4g smartphone data plan? i've read that i needed to change to the 4g smartphone data plan, but when i called the customer service, he kept saying that i did not need to. anyone that had experience with this problem have any insight? thanks

Log in into your AT&T account online and check if you have an active data plan or not.

i went into the store. and he said the data plan was wrong, this is what i told customer service. now it works after the changed data plan

[Q] How can I chance network code on sim card?

Hi All;
Apperantly with some app (like market enabler or etc..) I have managed to change the network code on my sim card. But sure I do not know still how. My SGS3 thinks that I am roaming while I am on my original network. I tried to find the apps I used before but there was no chance. Also I think because of this I am experiencing APN deletion automatically when I fake the market. When I check the sim card information with some apps they are sayin that I am on T-Mobile while I should be on Avea (which is Turkish network)
My question is do you advise me any app that can write the data on sim card ( which I think I already managed to do before) to edit the country code and network code? and any other solution?

HTC U11 Dual Sim, SIM1 mobile data on, SIM2 mobile data off

Hi there
I have a U11 international Version (401) and two Sim Cards.
SIM1: with Data Plan
SIM2: no Data Plan (if i use data it's 3$/day....every day!)
My Problem is, when i connect my phone to the car over RSAP, it autmaticly switches to SIM2 and i have to pay.
I was not able to activate mobile data in SIM1 and deactivate mobile Data in SIM2. They are both on or both off.
I tried in: Settings/ more/ Data usage / SIM1 or SIM2
Any idea how i can seperate them? Is this a Firmware Bug?

+1, I have the same question. In the dual network manager I can set the "preferred" SIM card for the data connection, which is not what I want, I am looking to completely forbid the data connection with one of the SIM cards. Anybody?
