my infuse won't connect to the data network - Samsung Infuse 4G

i recently switched from my captivate to the infuse and have not been able to connect to the data network/3g. i connect to wifi fine. data network is activated. using data packets is checked. is there anything that i am missing? can it be that i need a new sim card? or do i need to change my data plan from a regular smartphone data plan to a 4g smartphone data plan? i've read that i needed to change to the 4g smartphone data plan, but when i called the customer service, he kept saying that i did not need to. anyone that had experience with this problem have any insight? thanks

Log in into your AT&T account online and check if you have an active data plan or not.

i went into the store. and he said the data plan was wrong, this is what i told customer service. now it works after the changed data plan

Data Connection off Wi-Wfi on?

If I turn my data connection off and have the Wi-Fi on does that mean its not going through my cellphone providers networks and therefore does not use any data usage on the account?
I am on AT&T and have a treo pro...i turned off the data connections and my phone now only goes online in Wi-Fi mode. So does that mean I am not using my AT&T data plan at all?
Just wondering cause i dont really use the data except at home and think i could save 30 bucks a month without it.
yes. (.....)

i have just bought a g1, but no data plan.

Hi. As the title says. I have just bought my dad a g1 from ebay, he has a tmobile payg sim card with no data plan, I have a g1 with a g1 data plan, if he uses my sim card to activate it will he still get the ability to take and make calls?
Thanks joe
As far as I know, he'll need to use data to activate it as he will need to sign on with his GMail account.
g1 without data plan
What do you meen by data, he will use my sim to aactivate and his gmail to sync data, and after that he will swap to his payg tmob sim card, so will he get phone call ability,
Thanks joe
yeah he would be able to activate it with your sim card. But once he puts in his sim card, the data charges may start to come up. I would say before you put in his sim card, delete the apn settings. that should kill any data from working so it is then just a phone. But the wifi can still work. or have his plan upgraded to a flexpay with the g1 service. You dont need a contract with that..
Yup that's gud, so deleat the apn's to stop tmob from charging and just use as normal g1 without 3g or grps or edge, ps how do I deleat apns
I am sure thats how it works. you can get "NetMeter" from the marketplace. that will tell you if there is anything accessing the data plan.
to remove apn go to
menu --> wireless controls --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names in there you will want to click on T-Mobile US - T-Mobile US 800 and remove the APN. Assuming you are in the US.
Thanks for quick reply, I'm in uk but I'm sure that will be the same but for tmob uk. Thank allot
If I was you I would post to get some feedback, it is a big post all about the APN settings. they should know more then me about it all.

[Q] Mytouch 3g not activating (not going through the google part sign in)

hi i just bought a mytouch 3g from Craigslist and i don't have a data plan, so i gave my phone to a friend to activate for me. its been 5 days and he trys it everyday and this keeps on showing up "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services." we tried to master reset then activate but still not working. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP
What service are you trying to use the phone on?
Some services mean that you have to setup the APN yourself if the sim card doesn't have an up to date setting. I had that happen with some of my friends, takes about 1min to fix if that is it.
my friend is using t mobile

Get Free Unlimited Data On Your Verizon iPhone, Here’s How!

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if this still works?
http://www.cultofmac.com/137537/get...your-verizon-wireless-iphone-heres-how-deals/
Pretty much the just of that article is
Method:
Dial *611 from your Verizon phone, or 1-800-922-0204 from any phone.
Wait for computer CSR to go through the main menu. You will need your Verizon phone # and account PIN or last 4 of SSN.
Hit option 4.
When it asks you what you would like to do today say “Add a feature.”
If you have a 3G device (which includes all iPhones): Say you would like to add the $20 2GB 3G Mobile Hotspot FEATURE to your phone
If you have a 4G device: Say you would like to add the $30 Unlimited 4G Mobile Hotspot FEATURE to your phone. According to http://stopthecap.com/2011/07/12/…r-account/ , they may be able to locate this feature via referencing feature code #76153.
Your data plan will now be the $29.99 unlimited data plan, and you’ll have either the 2GB or unlimited Mobile Hotspot feature on top of that.
{OPTIONAL - if you don’t want the Mobile Hotspot feature} Log into My Verizon and remove the Mobile Hotspot FEATURE from your account. Many people recommend waiting a few days (at a minimum) to remove the feature. The $29.99 unlimited data plan should remain on your account.
If they say they can’t add that feature to your plan, or that you must bundle your data + mobile hotspot service together as a single data plan, tell them thank you, hang up, and repeat the steps above.
And remember… even if this works out for you, Verizon could always put you back on a tiered data plan at a later date.

Anyone try this, or have another method of getting a unlimited data plan on a new phone contract?

Sprint data notice!!!

Hey guys, has anybody had any issues with Sprint's "UNLIMITED" LTE network? They sent me a data notice because data abuse. Is there any way to workaround this problem? Never had this problem. Thanks
Never seen that before. What plan are you on (old unlimited plan or new unlimited freedom plan)? How much data did you use?
i have the old unlimited plan $10 more to each line. I have been with sprint for 10 years. I currently have no contract with them. I used about 100 to 200 GB
Were you using a significant chunk of data in hotspot mode? I vaguely recall (from an online discussion years ago) that even with an unlimited plan and even if hotspotting is authorized on your account, Sprint can ban you if your hotspot data usage is higher than X% of your total usage or if it exceeds Y GB. I don't remember X or Y.
I understand but is there a workaround this problem? Something that won't let them notice ?
I don't know, but if too much hotspot-based data is triggering Sprint's warning, then MAYBE, MAYBE:
1) Running through a hotspot VPN app would blind Sprint to the type of data that's being used. (I once read that PC/Mac web-calls leave different footprints that Sprint can detect.)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.free.vpn.proxy.vpnhotspot
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hotspotshield.android.vpn
2) Or if the Galaxy S5's built-in Hotspot software is reporting its data usage to Sprint, then maybe a 3rd party hotspot app would help.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.core.technology.wifi.hotspot
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.foxfi
Thanks! Yes I used a lot of data in hotspot mode. But would I be able to use the unlimited data with these apps in hotspot mode without them noticing? Also I have a custom ROM.
there is no workaround to their "data abuse". Even though they tout their plans as unlimited, there is a limit. They will always refer back to their TOS (terms of service). Sprint has a very tight grip on their data in certain areas as they lease their airtime from other carriers towers. Good luck with your plight, youre not going to win this data war with sprint
Does anybody know if the ClockworkMod Tether app would work since it's connected via usb? how could i know if they're tracking me by pc browsers or are they tracking by data usage?
each browser has its own signature it uses when connecting to a site, so they can tell if its a mobile device or not. Some APKs mask the data usage at the app level
hey i found some info on editing the TTL on your pc. but i found it on a Tmobile base network. I have no idea if it would work? Just wanted to make sure before i do. thanks
The TTL has nothing to do with masking the source of data, it just tells routers how many hops the packet can make on the network.
If you ran a proxy app on the PC (like UltraSurf) or a VPN, I wonder if that would completely mask transmission data from Sprint.
please let me know it it works or if there is any other apps that may work
