Hi everyone, this is my first post here and bear in mind I'm not exactly sure if this is the right area, please if any admin finds that I posted this in the wrong area of the forum please move it to the correct one if possible, thanks a lot!
Anyway, my question is...how do I properly install one of the AndyX ICS roms on a rooted Galaxy SII running gingerbread 2.3.4? I see the instructions and they seem simple enough...but it seems to me I would need to flash a different kernel before installing it?
I have the stock kernel which I flashed so that I wouldn't get the yellow exclamation point when turning on the phone...
If this is true which Kernel do I need to flash, and where can I find it (a download that actually works please)?

Hi all, im new 2 the forum here and i was hoping someone could help me.
I bought a Htc flyer recently, 2nd hand, it was already updated to Honeycomb 3.2.
Im trying to install this an app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426975
When i try and install the .apk file, it just says file not installed, based on what i've read in the thread, u need to install it through custom recovery. Im new to the flyer, my previous device ran 2.2 Froyo and worked differently so im not sure where to start looking, its all foreign to me. Is there anyway to install this through my pc? or do i have to use custom recovery and if so how does that work exactly? If possible i don't want to root the tablet.
any help would be appreciated, thanks.
As the tittle suggest. I'm looking for guide in rooting my TF newly update to stock ICS 4.0.3. Been looking and reading the threads but non shown the right direction. Anyone would be kind enough shade some light here..
And also the guide for compatible version of CWM would be even great..
DO A SEARCH....Also try Google...... This has been posted before more than once

What phone do you have? Which specific ROM did you flash? What instructions did you follow? Lots of people are using ICS ROMs with not trouble, so you should be able to get it to work, but need more info.
Here is droidstyle's guide that may be of some help... it's written for the Fascinate, but it applies to other versions of the i500 as well. You just have to make sure you have the correct files for your device.
Hi all
Not really a noon, but seem to be either drawing a blank and getting conflicting comments and information!
So, in brief, I'm running stock Samsung jelly bean 4.1.1( Taiwan version). And it works fine.
I want to root so i can get cm 10.1 for that aosp feel.
I know that Macs use heimdall (got that) and i also understand i need to be on cwm recovery, but I'm struggling to find instructions as to how to actually root!
Which files do i need ( being on stock jelly bean), to use for heimdall in order to be able to flash cm10.1?
I do not have access to a windows computer, so unfortunately can't use Odin,
If anyone can point me in the right direction, id be very grateful.
I like to contribute comments for those in need on the forums.... and i now cone cap in hand asking for assistance
Many thanks all and a happy new year to you all
If you already in how how to use Heimdall, you can find the files in my guide (link in signature) ... just use CWM-SuperSU-0.96.zip.

Hi,
to install CWM Recovery and root the tab, you can follow these instructions (point A) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722745
Then if you want to install a custom rom, follow these instruction (this is for CyanogenMod 10.1 but I think it is the same way to install other roms) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052290

Are you purchasing new ? Or are getting this second hand ? The only reason I ask is because 4.2.1 is not the "stock" software at this time.
Mine came stock with 4.0.4, and I have read that they are now shipping with 4.1.1 installed
The only 4.2.1 version currently out is the custom CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM.
May just be a typo on your original post - but figured I would ask just in case

Change the title of your thread to reflect your question. This will help others in your situation to quickly find and learn from your post, in turn hopefully preventing more 'how do I root/flash' threads.
