Ota issue. Sensation xe unbranded in usa - HTC Sensation

My daughter just updated her sensation xe and now every time we restart the phone it goes thru a software updating thing.
She only has wifi and has it on att in the usa.
Should we factory reset or will this stop doing that updating overtime its restarted.

That's normal behavior for ICS.

Didn't get my ICS yet.. I'm on T-mo....
But, something does not feel right here..
Since it updated, it has to say "Your phone is upto date" When you press check for HTC update.
Otherwise you have to elaborate on your statement... Hope that people with updated phones will leave some info.
No..no.. It can't be right........

It does say software is up to date. Just when restarting it was saying software is being optimized every restart. Factory reset it and its not doing it anymore.

Yes when you do a factory reset it won't do it since you don't have any apps anymore, but install your programs and it will do the "optimized" thing again. Even the Samsung Nexus does this, I already researched on this since it was driving me crazy too after updating to ICS. It is normal behavior for ICS. Try searching Google or the Nexus section of the forum.

The Optimizing Applications dialog you are seeing is Android creating the Dalvik-cache for the device. It is, as it implies, an optimization for your applications, so they run more efficiently on your device's specific Dalvik Runtime Virtual Machine. There is nothing wrong with it, and it is supposed to happen. The only reason you never see it in older versions of Android is because it is hidden from the user. The boot up just takes longer, but it is doing the exact same thing behind the scenes. Every time system files are changed, the Dalvik-cache for those changed programs must be reinitialized.

Yes thank you. Its doing it every boot.

No phone in app drawer

Ever since i got the tmobile ota i dont have the phone app in the app drawer. I tried re installing the ota, turning off and turning back on the phone, and resetting the phone. nothing works. anyway to get it back. I am rooted, if that makes a difference.
Factory reset should get it back.

Yup that's pretty much the stock sensation... Had the same problem until I flashed a custom Rom... It's just so bloated....

This problem may also be caused by a rogue app that you installed recently. Uninstall the apps that you do not use and see if it still reboots at random. If that still happens, uninstall all apps then install them back one by one to identify the guilty app.
Had the same problem before, and saw a response on another forum. take sd card out, make a copy of it, format it using windows, then copy it all back. That worked for me, no more random reboots...
I think I know to what kind of reboots the op is referring to. It doesn't reboot constantly, but like once a week it will reboot. Is not often but when it happens it is annoying.

HTC one s WiFi problem

Hi everyone like the title says the WiFi I use just stops after couple of hours. It shows the WiFi bar and stuff but I won't work. So I always have to restart my phone to make it work again. Do u think its my modem or my phone?

Having the same issue, WiFi will not disconnect when I leave my house, etc. I have to go in and turn it off so mobile data will kick in. Also issues with Bluetooth randomly disconnecting. Talked to TMO, they said 1.84 update will fix it. Have 1.84 now and it fixed Bluetooth but WiFi still having issues. Going to call TMO and try new hardware...

Just follow the toolkit directions
I talked to TMO on Friday, the guy who seemed to know what he was talking about, said the WiFi and Bluetooth issues are definitely software (firmware) issues and not physical. He said 1.84 should fix the issue. He also made a good point, if you want a replacement phone they could send you a refurbished phone and you would give up your new one. I ran the 1.84 RUU then loaded Axiom on top and haven't had any issues so far.
ohh ok thanks . How do I update the software

Slowing phone response

So I went to 4EXT Recovery and repaired permissions. But that took way longer than usual, like 10 mins.
Does this point to perhaps a corrupt or bad flashed ROM? Or perhaps an app that is being greedy? Or........?

If it keeps lagging it could be possibly the rom. Try and do a clean install meaning wipe fully then reinstall. See if that helps. Or you can try downloading a different rom and see if issue is still present. If issue is gone, could have been the rom. Your going to have to do some experimenting to find out. Hopefully a clean install or different rom will fix your problem. If the issue is still present on different roms it could be your device itself. Check and see with some different roms.

Random hot reboots

Evening sensation people, I am a Rezound owner speaking on behalf of my friend. He owns a sensation that since day one has been plagued with random hot reboots. I thought it was a software issue and later found he had a faulty screen. We attempted to root but I could not get s-off using juopuntbear method. He is on ICS, stock ROM. He is rooted but nothing has been modified. He has clockworkmod as well. After replacing the screen and battery he still a year later has these random reboot issues. It is not tied to any particular action or app its just random. I love Android and have great experiences with the platform and want my friends to enjoy it as well power user or not. So if any info is needed please let me know ( logcats etc.). I think XDA's community is the best and I know someone here has an idea or two. I'll be checking back soon and I truly appreciate your time here guys thanks

Might be a faulty sd card or sim.
I'm pretty sure it was verified (as in using the device without these two for a while) but it was not mentioned...
Also, had a full and complete reset of all partitions been tried? Perhaps flush 4Ext recovery, wipe all partitions, and flush RUU. See how that holds.. and again, would be better to try that without sd and sim.

OK I'm not familiar with the 4ezt are you saying to try ruu with no sim installed. We have not tried that?
Sent from my Rezound using xda app-developers app
Random reboots could be a result of a loose battery. Make sure the battery is sitting tight enough in the housing. If it seems to wiggle a bit make sure the contacts are meeting properly on the battery and the device. Wedge a small piece of paper on the top of the battery to secure it.

4ext is a recovery. Similar but different that ClockWorkMod. You can find a link to it in my sig.
A faulty Sim and a faulty regard may cause random Reboot.
As matekaneve mentioned also a wiggling battery can cause this. Thanks for bringing that up

The battery thing is an interesting idea. He is on clockwork mod, should we just install the other recovery and ruu or flash a stock ROM? I'm just not familiar with The sensation and what people are using. Plus I have s-off on my rezound
Also was that supposed to say faulty SD card ?

If he's not s-off the only reasonable way of flushing roms is with 4Ext recovery with the 'SmartFlash' option turned on. Otherwise the kernel cannot be flashed (!!!)
And RUU is an exe file which takes care of mostly everything for you. It's an official HTC thing. You just need drivers so the phone is appropriately recognized by the Pc, and exeute the RUU. It will take care of the rest.
And yeap I meant a faulty sd card (and/or Sim)
