Worked for me on GB working for me with original oneclick ics rom. Not sure what your issue or what rom you are running. maybe one that deleted the sns .apks needed for this?
I keep getting "2 New Messages" for the past like 3 days and when I click on the notification there aren't any, then like 10 mins later the notification comes back again lol
They've never worked since I got the phone
Back I'm my htc inspire days we found out if you log into your facebook account on a blackberry and enable push notifications, then fire your android device back up. It worked well for a lot of poeple

i hope no need to push fb notofication.. but not really
sorry bad english
I haven't used fb lately. But I did get an event invite notification last night. I find sometimes they don't work onedy yet will work the next. I think it may be issues on their end. Try clearing the apps data and login again if not give it a few days and see if they come back.
I dis do the blackberry trick mentioned above on my account though.
To get Facebook push notifications to work you need to set your refresh interval to "Never" and if that doesn't work, leave it at never and do the blackberry trick.
-Wipe Data/Cache of Facebook on your phone and stay signed-out
-Download the Blackberry emulator from your phone
-Log in to Facebook on the emulator and allow the permissions for the Blackberry Emulator
-Check your account from the PC and make sure somewhere under one of your apps it says it's using a Facebook for Blackberry
-Close it all and log back in using your Android Facebook and push notifications should work.
They're hit or miss, they work like 90% of the time it seems.
where can i find this spoken of blackberry emulator on my phone?
It's worked for me on wifi but not on regular data, very sketchy on the regular data connection.

I just fixed my facebook notifications.
I only got notifications about events but never about posts.
I first cleared cache. That didn't work. I then logged out of the facebook app and relogged and viola it all notifcations work again.
The notification interval is irrelevant btw. I tried never, 30 min, 1 hr. It doesn't matter.
This worked for me so I hope this works for you.
Thank me if it works please xD
Facebook notification has never worked for me. My wife has the Note and it worked for her for the first week then suddenly it stopped. On GB it didn't work and same for ICS no matter which rom you get it will not work. Someone on here mentioned the Blackberry Emulator trick, that is about the only way the notifications will come to your phone. A friend of mine did it in the past and it has worked for him ever since. I will be trying it as soon as I can find the Emulator from my phone which I can't seem to figure out how to download it.

Can you give us a link from where we can download this BlackBerry Emulator?
Thanks
Somewhere on the FB website under security is a section showing authorized or attached devices. Each rom flashed adds another device to the list. Clear out that list entirely, uninstall FB from phone, reboot phone re download FB from market and install. Reboot BEFORE setting up FB login. Once rebooted log into FB again on phone and change the default notificagon sound to your choice and notifications should work again for posts, replies rcomments, etc.

My push notifications are working fine (Superlite 5.0) but Facebook sync is going bonkers though. It won't sync with existing contacts only, so it's either all Facebook contacts or none at all. A bit annoying.

So recently i switched from a white mytouch to a black mytouch.. on my old mytouch the facebook push notifications worked perfectly... now on my new black mytouch the facebook notifications no longer work.
Anyone else seeing this problem i googled the issue and its hit and miss on people having this issue.
for those of you that do have a facebook can you go into your facebook app settings and see if you see an option for push notifications. I suspect that for one reason or another the people that download the facebook app from the market place may or may not get a version with push notifications as an option, i could be wrong.
if anyone has a fix for this it would also help
Same here. I got my black MT4G on Fri & mine stopped worked by Friday night.
so it worked at one point for you also then it just stopped working...?
Try pushing Facebook to the system I occasionally get them on cm 7 when Facebook wants to work ... I notice stock espresso has a fusion of the app and HTC account as well cause it only ask me to sync Facebook with the HTC account when I sign in the app

the facebook app is the one i downloaded from the market, not the local system facebook app. it's just weird i have been looking into this and noticed it happen across all carriers that are running android 2.2 devices.
I have had this same issue with my facebook app. My push notifications were working, then just stopped one day. I might get a pushed notification when I open the app . . . and also my widget doesn't update all the time.
Yup, chalk me up to one who's facebook doesn't push notifications through. It worked for a few days...then stopped completely.

Ive had the same issue.. after playing around and trying a few things out.. ive realized its only when you leave a comment using the facebook app.. if someone responds, it doesnt tell you via email .. If someone messages you, comments your page ect it does email you. If you start a conversation with the facebook app it wont follow up.
If you start a conversation from the PC it does notify your phone but not the other way around. I tested it last night and left a few comments at a buddies page. the following day i went back using the app and later the PC and there were responses, except i never got a notification.
Push notifications has nothing to do with emails lol

I'm having the same problem for the last 2 months on Stock rom and CM7 RC1 and CM7 nightlys. It has to be the FB App issue. I just use the gmail app to notify me about stuff on FB for now.

Well back to report. I tried pretty much everything I rooted my phone switched roms to several different ones. I also tried to push a stock Facebook app to the phone to no avail. I don't know how to get Facebook to push my notifications again.
More so then anything it's not the fact that I love Facebook thy much it just irritates me that something doesn't work when it use to.

LOL there are quite a few things but this is mainly the biggest thing, it is getting to be annoying with this phone in particular
Is the fact I keep having to sign into my gmail...like every hour.
I have 3 main gmail accounts
One for pleasure/personal use
One for work
One for school
(I am considering switching back to WP7 & hotmail...but that is another story)
It seems every hour, I'm having to resign into Gmail. And it's not a huge deal but it is a bit annoying seeing the little notification sign that is saying that you need to sign into [email protected]
Furthermore, my Gmail is not pushing to my phone whatsoever so I am not getting any emails without having to sync it manually...even though it is said to get it whenever available.
Idk what to do or what exactly the issue is but it is truly annoying. Any suggestions would be nice?
:O wrong place for this sweety. But I have 5 gmail accounts setup and 2 personal and working fine. Which rom are you using stock? do you have them all setup under account and sync? I remember when I got MT4G and checked 2 acc's from stock rom and worked fine.
lol well where should i post this at then?
and ummm, i am actually using the phone the same exact way out of the box
and everything is fine under accounts & sync...just none of them sync or hardly
ever
You are using GMail App and not EMail App right? Ok lets see you have Background Data and Auto Sync checked? Open GMail app and click Menu> More> Setting> Notification Setting> Email Notification checked? Also make sure you have Update Schedule with fixed time on Send & Receive in GMail setting.
Can u even get gmail over wifi?

Just a random thought here, but try deleting one of your email accounts & set it up using the regular mail app & not the gmail app. Just giver it a shot & see.
I have 1 thru the gmail app & 3 thru the regular mail app (live, hotmail & school) & they all work fine

So I came across a fix for push notifications on the official facebook app over at AndroidCentral:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/android-applications/109343-facebook-push-notifications-solved.html
Basically, these are the steps:
1. Untick "Notifications" in FB app settings
2. Sign in from a blackberry (or download a blackberry emulator from the RIM website and sign in from the emulator) and follow the setup
3. Log out of the blackberry facebook app
4. go into the FB app on your android phone and re-tick the "notifications" box in the settings menu. Notifications should work now!
Thank you for sharing this. It fixed it for me.

i've found that you have to go into FB from a computer and completely erase those messages from the archive for it to stop notifying you
I may have found a way around this.
After my attempts to fiddle with the BB emulator failed and I lost patience, I came across a post that suggested something I hadn't considered:
Set notification refresh to "never" and leave all the other notification stuff ticked. Supposedly that sets notifications to push mode.
It seems to work so far, I'll update once I get some more notifications. I've received one so far (not very popular on facebook)
Okay, I think I discovered Yahoo Mail as a major cause of battery drain on my Charge. First some background. At one point early on with the Charge I had great results of 20+ hours. That was shortly after setting up Humble and ImNuts Kernal, calibrating the battery, and installing basic apps.
As many of us do, I kept on tweaking from there. I tried various combinations of Imoseyon's kernal, EP1Q modem, and V6 supercharger and related scripts. At some point in the process I lost the battery life. I started getting 6-8 hours max! Of course at the same time I kept working on getting the "perfect" app setup. All this tweaking meant I couldn't tell what started the problem.
Anyway, I've since undone V6, gone back to PBJ kernal, and restored EE4's modem. I thought I noticed some improvement, but really it was no more than a couple hours more than before. Maybe 8-10 hours total.
So, I started thinking about how Data usage kills my battery at work. I get a very weak signal and it absolutely kills the battery. But still, I was able to get up to 20 hours before, even leaving data turned on. So, I wondered if anything was causing it to work extra hard to send/receive vs before.
Long story shortened (a little). I considered the Yahoo Mail app with it's "push only" setup. This is something I didn't have setup right away. I'd used the built in email. So, after disabling "Notifications" in my account and re-enabling the built-in mail notifications, I've recovered my battery life! Today I've been going 15 hours and I've still got 31%. And that was with fairly heavy use and leaving data on all day!
I stress that the Yahoo Mail setting is the only thing I've changed since last week. I've been very patient to make one change at a time so I could track this down properly.
So, anyone with primarily weak signals care to test this theory as well? I really feel this did it, but could use some confirmation considering all the previous variables. I'll do some further testing myself this week. Maybe a day with and a day without. It's difficult not to just jump to GummyCharged 2.0, but I really want to confirm this issue first.
Some confirmation can be found by googling the issue: "yahoo mail android battery drain". Hope this may help someone else.
Yes I have notice this too. I live in a non 4g fringe 3 g area and my battery drains fast as well. Yes I have yahoo mail and have since uninstalled it and have the stock email app pull my mail from yahoo. Also any app like yahoo messenger also runs in the back ground and no matter how much u do a force off, it restart a few mins later. Here is a list of app that run in the background.
A. Yahoo mail
B. Yahoo messenger
C. Live holdem poker.
D. Maps
E. Gallery
F. Gmail
G. Stock email app
H. Music
I. Search
And of all the rest of the stock functions. I wish that most of these apps would only run when you launch them and when you close it, they would stay shut off untill needed. Freezing the apps work but you cant use them until u unfreeze them. I know that this is done for a reason, so that there would be no lag. So I guess these are some of the things we have to live with.
One of the big mistakes samsung did with the charge is not install enuff onboard memory. So when you have all these programs running it does cause a lag and massive battery drain on our phone. As far as the data connection, I can not complain about the phone cause this is a problem that BIG RED is causing an additional drain on the battery. The mighty no connection and searching for service LOL..
END RANT..
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
Glad to see it's not just me. You'd think a "push" service would use less battery, but in the case of yahoo mail it seems the opposite.
I'm not as worried about ram usage as network usage though. With a custom rom it seems fairly responsive. It's the network use that I wish we had more fine control over at the system level. If I could just make some of the offending apps act less aggressively that would be great.
In fact, I wish the OS had a smart signal monitoring feature that could tell apps to throttle back until a strong signal was available.

I noticed this too. It was causing a huge drain! The only reason I got the yahoo mail app was because the stock mail app wouldn't let me sign in to my yahoo account. Does anybody know the reason for this? It worked less than a week ago...

The stock mail app is working fine for me. Never had trouble logging in. Maybe try from a computer to see if it needs to verify your account or something?
So far today I am using 5% per hour with yahoo's app disabled and very heavy usage of phone and screen. During one hour with little use it only used 2%. Very acceptable. I'll try turning yahoo on for the afternoon and see the difference.

What i did is uninstall the yahoo mail app and load the stock email app, you can do all the same stuff with the stock email app as you can with yahoo mail. Also I found that the email app that comes preloaded with the gc 2.0 has issue with yahoo, and other email accounts ( Iam sure other people did not have this problem but i was one of few that did. So please dont flame me and say that iam the only one with this problem). What i did is pull the stock app off my tablet and installed this one on my phone, all problems are gone, i can receive and now repley, create and send my emails. I can now easily setup all of my email accounts, aol-yahoo-comcast, etc. If you can pull the stock email app that was preloaded on the phone before you modded or install any custom rom/themes. Also if you have yahoo messenger installed, get rid of it. I found that between the yahoo mail and messenger app my battery life was almost cut in half.
Ya I'm running gc 2.0 with the same problem. Any way you could post a link of the stock app?

Update
So, I finished my testing:
Yahoo Mail app notifications turned off:
Used 35% battery in first 6 hours of day with heavy use of phone
Yahoo Mail app notifications turned on:
Used 55% battery in next 6 hours of day with very light use of phone
So, simply enabling the Yahoo Mail app notifications increased my battery use more than 50% per hour. This is even though I went from heavy usage before the change to practically no usage after the change.
Needless to say, I'll be leaving Yahoo Mail notifications off and let the built in e-mail app notify me. Which it does a very fine job of by the way. It's still "push" even.
So, I'm wondering how to find other offending apps. I'd have thought Spare Parts would tell me, but apparently Yahoo Mail was hiding its network usage behind some other title. Perhaps it's lumped under Dialer or one of the mysterious user ID's that show up (1043, I think?).
Anyone know of another network usage watchdog type app for our phones that might shed more light?

Go into your system/app folder and delete the stock email app that you have installed. Of course by deleting this you may/may not lose all of your accounts you have setup. Then download the link and install this one ( also make sure you rename the app to Email.apk ) i dont think you have too, but if you have a problem installing it, try it, you never know). Problem is since you allready have the email app installed, it will not let you install another one. I know this to work, for i have tried several different version that have been floating around these site, and they are all the same version, So i pulled the stock email app that i have on my Gtab and used that one on my Charge and it works great. push/pull-reply-create all works now, as well as being able to create all email accounts that i have without any issues. Just make sure once you have installed that you restart your phone for all to take into effect. Look at the app page on the phone and make sure you have the white envolope w/green @ symbol on it. If you do and you launch the app you should have a page loaded that has all the different email accounts that you can use to automatically setup. Just enter you [email protected] account and the password and then click next and if all setup correctly it will prompt you to pick a nickname and name to use for that account. Finished.. LOL

Thank you for this! I googled the settings and it worked! Now I can delete the Yahoo app!
I found a fix that made it possible for push notifications to come through in realtime (for comments, tags etc.). I heard about that BlackBerry simulator solution and this is what i did : I downloaded a BB simulator (for 9300 series of phones or something...basicaly BB 7.0 or so). I logged out the FB app on Android, then i fired up the BB simulator/emulator and i I entered my facebook credentials in the BB's FB app and enabled "push notifications" and i also disabled all email notifications within the app. After that i logged-out and so FB push notifications started coming
It freakin works! P.s.: i would love to know if it worked for you. And another thing, don't forget to re-login on the FB app on the Nexus and ENABLE NOTIFICATIONS in the Options menu (the first checkmark box just under "refresh interval". Every other things like Event Invite,Messages and Friend Requests don't come through via Push but via refresh interval. Everything else will work through PUSH
