Which would be better - General Questions and Answers

I was wondering, What is a better phone? One with a single core processor or dual core processor?

processor
well a phone with a dual processor because it has a bigger capacity and that means better performance. FYI they make phones with quad core processors

Well, it depends on what you're looking to do/get out of your phone

I would say that a dual core phone will be more and more useful over the next short while. A quad core phone won't show its usefulness to the average person. The OS and the apps have to leverage the extra cores. But, dual core phones are already being developed for.

A dual core phone is twice as good as a single core phone.

Dual core phone is twice better...

Well all in all it depends what you aiming for like gaming or buissness etc...

Agree... If you get enough time on your phone. Dual core is better.

Quad core phones?

Why are some good uses for quad core besides gaming, which I think it's the only reason we need, with dual core phones that have dual core run really fast already, why do we need quad core phones?
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
I think to take the load of the whole os off one core which will make your phone faster and smoother. Also its more power and who doesn't want thay? Also maybe better battery life

It's like asking why we need a Quad Core PC / Laptop. But seriously, it will help all around. Gaming, General use, Response, basically everything is affected in a positive way. Well almost, your wallet most likely won't be .
Lol if everything is better, what reason do we have to complain?
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
We really don't, but it's a matter of always wanting more. Not necessarily a bad thing .

Buy now?

Hi, is Nexus S still worth to buy?

If you are only up against other, single core phones, definitely yes. If you have the option of a dual core (particularly sgs2), you are probably better off getting that at this stage. Also, quad cores are just around the corner - you can get some great savings if you hold out for a month or two.

One has a Snapdragon 4, the other has a Tegra 3.
One is Dual core, the other is Quad.
Well I think that all HTC one X's should be quad core and have the tegra 3 processor since the INTERNATIONAL VERSION of the HTC one X has the quad-core and the tegra3.
Well I don't see the fun in dual-core anymore.
Anyway thanks for the information.

Ya, I do know the difference in fact quad-core actually takes less battery and beats audio is also included in the tegra3.
And with the update the battery life has been extent to a decent amount.
Plus we with the tegra3 enjoy hd super accelerated gaming with the superfast quad-core processor.

You turn your own thread into a troll playground? How childish
The reason the tegra 3 has so many hd games has to do with nvidia making offers to those who make decent games to make them specifically for their processor
Anyways, you really need to take yourself elsewhere

Yeah...no. the s4 rapes the teg3 in battery life. Audio wise, its not whether or not beats exists. The actual chipset in the s4 hox and the one s is way better than the audio chipset in the teg3

Sure. Tegra 3 has better graphics. But the s4 dominates in every day usage. And we never said quad core is bad, the s4 pro that was recently demoed is quad core and simply destroys everything is benchmarks. Oh, and all those teg3 games? They're all gimmicks.
And the most important factor? Nvidia sucks. Qualcomm rules

Well...here's what to expect from Samsung Nexus 10 and/or newer devices. :)

I came across this today...
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=Samsung+Arndale+Board&benchmark=glpro25
Looks like a winner to me!
In comparison to iphone 5 which also uses A15 cores and a triple core powervr gpu
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=Apple+iPhone+5&benchmark=glpro25
and the Lg Optimus G which has kinda like A15 architecture plus an adreno 320 gpu,
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=LG+E970&benchmark=glpro25,
the samsung dev board with the dual A15 [email protected] and the all new Mali-T604 gpu beats both of them holding the highest score so far!
Way to go sammy!
EDIT:
Full dev board specs here:
http://www.arndaleboard.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Iphone 5 uses a custom design, not a15. A15 is superior.

iPhone 5 uses a custom A6 I do believe.

Apple is ARM licenced to use the A15 design and that's what apple did.
I dont know if A6 custom cpu is faster or slower than an ARM A15 designed...

Exynos octacore Sansung vs htc one snapdragon 600

I know that samsung galaxy S4 has octacore processor ...and it is octacore processor...and snapdragon 600 is also in the market..
I just want to know which device should I prefer octacore or snapdragon 600..
Further I have heard a lot of things about the cheap build quality of Samsung and heating effect of exynos processors and it is closed source so not devloper friendly
So please explain in detail which one should I go for samsung octacore processor devices or should I go for snapdragon 600
Sent from my MT11i using xda premium
Snapdragon 600 are better than exynos octa core processors cause exynos processor gets very hot, my friend has Galaxy S2 which gets hot very quickly after some time of use but there is no problem with snapdragon 600 processors and they also are power efficient and the difference between the performance of the both processors is negligible.
And what about exynos being closed source

Exynos getting hot, I've played with 3 different flavors of the Note2 and they never got running at the stock clock speed.
Since there are no released phones with the Eynos Octa processor it's hard to say. From what I heard it uses 4 cores specificly for low load states and then jumps to the other 4 cores for high load states. It never really uses all 8 cores at once. So I don't think the Octa core is going to be a huge performer over the Snapdragon 600. In the US, we will probably not see the Octa processor for sometime, Samsung is going with Qualcom for the US.

But when s4 was not released... There were rumors over tge net that samsung will be releasing s4 in s600 processor beacuse of heating effects of exynos processor..
But finally the came with both...
If it was only a15 quadcore then it will be huge battery sucker and heat producer...
During gaming or heavy usage.. Since it ll be using a15 cores...so it will be going to produce huge amount of heat...

Is there a possibility that they maybe redisigning the A15 in the near future for more efficiency? Thats maybe one of the reasons that they didn't put it in the S4 on release date, or am i wrong on this?
Lets see...time will tell us which one is better
