I know that samsung galaxy S4 has octacore processor ...and it is octacore processor...and snapdragon 600 is also in the market..
I just want to know which device should I prefer octacore or snapdragon 600..
Further I have heard a lot of things about the cheap build quality of Samsung and heating effect of exynos processors and it is closed source so not devloper friendly
So please explain in detail which one should I go for samsung octacore processor devices or should I go for snapdragon 600
Sent from my MT11i using xda premium
Snapdragon 600 are better than exynos octa core processors cause exynos processor gets very hot, my friend has Galaxy S2 which gets hot very quickly after some time of use but there is no problem with snapdragon 600 processors and they also are power efficient and the difference between the performance of the both processors is negligible.
And what about exynos being closed source

Exynos getting hot, I've played with 3 different flavors of the Note2 and they never got running at the stock clock speed.
Since there are no released phones with the Eynos Octa processor it's hard to say. From what I heard it uses 4 cores specificly for low load states and then jumps to the other 4 cores for high load states. It never really uses all 8 cores at once. So I don't think the Octa core is going to be a huge performer over the Snapdragon 600. In the US, we will probably not see the Octa processor for sometime, Samsung is going with Qualcom for the US.

But when s4 was not released... There were rumors over tge net that samsung will be releasing s4 in s600 processor beacuse of heating effects of exynos processor..
But finally the came with both...
If it was only a15 quadcore then it will be huge battery sucker and heat producer...
During gaming or heavy usage.. Since it ll be using a15 cores...so it will be going to produce huge amount of heat...

Is there a possibility that they maybe redisigning the A15 in the near future for more efficiency? Thats maybe one of the reasons that they didn't put it in the S4 on release date, or am i wrong on this?
Lets see...time will tell us which one is better

S4 krait snapdragon is a15 which has 40% more per core performance than standard a9 in exynos. The gpu in the exynos is better. But the CPU is weaker. Performance will actually be the same now unlike last year Samsung galaxy s2 fiasco. All phones will have vsync on so you will be locked at 60 fps regardless of what processor you have. Development should be unpar with the exynos since the USA will have s4 and international exynos. A15 dual core has the performance slightly Better than quadcore a9. Regardless of benchmarks.

that's stupid. tmobile is changing their towers to include the 1900mhz spectrum, just buy the int'l version of the s3, problem solved. Cpu makes a big difference in how clear the screen is/photo quality. I had an Epic 4G Touch with Sprint (has the dual core Exynos) before coming to T-Mobile and it was a lot better than this phone in just about every way, the screen's colors were more vivid, there was less noise in photos, image quality was incredible, battery lasted longer, even images taken with the front facing camera were nicer, response times were faster. Cpu makes a big difference. Have fun with the iPhone, not that anyone cares about how Samsung disappointed you.

The difference was no one seems to get this Samsung actually optimized the software around exynos. The Samsung Galaxy S2 with qualcomm processor was ported software. Not as well optimized as the exynos. Samsung was in a rush to get the phone released in the states. Samsung knowing LTE is the big thing in the USA. Will optimize both phones equally now. Especially if the phones are being released so closely towards each other. Even the developers in the Samsung Galaxy s3 forum are saying that the 2 gig krait cpu is the better phone. A9 dual core to a9 quad core is not much of an improvement. Krait actually is and it keeps up with the best with less cores. Until true a15 cores come out.

Looks like a winner to me!
In comparison to iphone 5 which also uses A15 cores and a triple core powervr gpu
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=Apple+iPhone+5&benchmark=glpro25
and the Lg Optimus G which has kinda like A15 architecture plus an adreno 320 gpu,
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedetails.jsp?D=LG+E970&benchmark=glpro25,
the samsung dev board with the dual A15 [email protected] and the all new Mali-T604 gpu beats both of them holding the highest score so far!
Way to go sammy!

screen size does not necessarily mean more pixels and therefore a lower score, the S3 and the Note 10.1 have the same screen density so that shouldn't be an issue.
I would be surprised to hear the inferior US dual core version beats the International quad to be honest.

Krait is not a15... Qualcomm uses the arm instruction set not design, a15 is a design. Krait is between a9 and a15 in performance. Qualcomm designs their own chips (from the ground up) and use ONLY the armv7 instruction set, so a Qualcomm chip will never be a cortex a chip

Everyone really needs to stop using quadrant, it is easily tricked. One of the simplest ways to increase score is a better storage format like ext4. Quadrant has a heavy emphasis put on I/O performance. You may also have power save mode on. CPU in exynos is slower on a per core base but will do better in multi thread apps. GPU between the 2 is about equal.
Also exynos is slightly faster than a standard cortex a9 because Samsung modified the design to increase per core performance just a bit

If it's a snapdragon and an adreno 320 then it's already failed because there are loads of phones like that.
They surely wouldn't advertise the octa chip if it wasn't going in the GS4. However the A7 mixed with the A15 seems like a little bit of a cheat, I bet it uses the A7 95% of the time or the A15 cores are heavily throttled because it looks like they drain battery like mad, especially in a smart phone.
