I decided to make this thread an archive of different sound packs to be used by developers for their ROMs or anyone else who wants to add to, or replace the stock sounds that came on their phone.
All files are now in OGG format, not MP3. A big thanks to cellgeek for converting the BlackBerry sound files!!!
Disclaimer:
These are not flashable zips!
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Not that there should be any risk with dragging and dropping sound files but you never know.
With that said, all you need to do is unzip the files and place them on your SD card. Make 3 folders...notifications, alarms, and ringtones in /media/audio and place the appropriate sound files where you want them.
Bon appétit!

Sound File Zips:
*BlackBerry
*CM7
*MIUI
More to come...
I did the same thing, thanks for making it available to everyone.

Glad you guys like it.
I will release more sound packs in the future since I tend to be more on the audio side of things usually. May even throw in some customized sounds as well.
Ive had nothing but blackberries before I got the skyrocket:
7130c
8700c
Curve 8310
Curve 8900
Curve 9300
Bold 9700
Definitely miss stuff like this, but for the most part. never looking back.
CyanogenMod 7 stock sounds have been uploaded as well.
Thanks
I really got used to bb sounds, and now you shared it, i will use them for few days to remember my bbm days.
Uploaded MIUI sounds.
Ok noob question. I extracted sound files to op locations. However they don't appear as options when trying to change notifications. How do I change this?

1. Plug phone into computer (make sure phone drivers are installed)
2. Mount USB mass storage
3. Under Computer there will be two Removable Disks ( E: and F: )
4. Under Removable Disk ( F: ) there should be a folder called "media". If it does not exist then make it. There should be an "audio" folder inside media.
5. media/audio/ is where alarms, notifications, and ringtones folders should go (make sure the folder names are plural and spelled correctly)

If you follow these steps and you still do not see the sound files appear when you go to change tones on the ROM then the media folder may be on the wrong "Removable Disk".
Hope that helps.

Howdy!
On the weekend I copied the sound files from the Xoom to the Asus using adb. The files transferred just fine but initially did not show up in the selection menu for sounds. After a reboot they made it to the menu, however, they all appear twice.
SOLUTION: Instead of copying the files to system/media/audio/(Notifications, Alarms, Ringtones) I copied the files to sdcard/(Notifications, Alarms, Ringtones) and after a reboot everything is as it is supposed to be!

Since I had some trouble getting the files onto the TF I checked if maybe the files appeared twice as well but they are only there as single copy.
Does anyone have an idea of how to remove the duplicate entries?
Thanks!
Don't have my transformer to check, picking up replacement tomorrow, but its possible the duplicated ones are the default ones that come with the transformer and you have added them again. I'm guessing both tabs have the same honeycomb stock notifications.
Another possibility is that as well as /media/audio/notifications that you have them duplicated in /notifications which does the same job and would give 2 entries.

That was a very good suggestion but there are 2 issues:
1. The Xoom sounds were not included with the transformer; that's why I copied them in the first place.
2. I checked the folders in the root directory and they are all empty.
Maybe you can confirm when you get your device back

Just a shameless bump! Can anyone help?
Well, I managed to solve the issue. I deleted the audio files from the system/media/audio/notifications directory and the duplicates disappeared while the sounds are still playing. I wish I knew more about how Honeycomb handles the system sounds...

Hi guys,
Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I am new to Android.
Just got my wonderful piece of kit, but am struggeling to find out how to copy and paste text.
Could anyone help?
long press on the text you would like to copy and you will see two markers and a pop-up menu.
also long press in the area you would like to paste, you'll see pop-up menus too
those menus are customizeable so they're different from app to app..but should be ituitive enough to use anyway..
@magicpork
Thanks a lot-this works!
Now am busy trying to figure out how to copy and paste files.
I have tried to copy them from the file manager and paste to the SD card, but when I made a long press in the area I wanted to paste it too-it grabbed the files which already were there.
errgmmm...help?
Does anyone know how can I copy and paste files (not the text).
Help please
the top-right button in the file manager is paste!
Download File Manager HD (Honeycomb) by Rhythm Software from the market, makes copying files a breeze.

Thanks for the info-I'll try that
I have the same issue...anyone can help with this??
Is there a keyboard app that moves the cut and copy and paste down from the top while typing to the text area-like the iphone- so I don't have to reach up there to perform? I was like a machine on the iphone-I suck on this s3! I recognize the superiorty of the droid but its little thkngs like this-having to stop and use two thumbs- that make me twice as lesselessefficient....see? This Sucks!
Any Ideas out there for what I'm looking for?
THANKS!

It is app dependent, some apps put the paste in line with the text area like the iPhone, others it is at the top.
You can try an app like ThumbKeyboard, it has an option to add some of your own softkeys. Here is my Thumb Keyboard setup on my 10" tablet for Portrait mode:

Not sure how it will work/look on a phone, but give it a shot.
A buddy of mine just got the samsung galaxy nexus with ICS from verizon. I made him a custom ringtone and sent it to him. He long pressed it, saved it but can not set as a ringtone. He and i went to vzw and a rep stated it was a ICS issue and not a hardware issue. Has anyone ran into this issue and if so, is it software or hardware issues

Software, there's no custom ringtones in ICS I think.

Sorry to contradict u but I am on a ics leak. I download "ring tone maker" from the market to make your own custom ring tones.

Yeah, well custom ringtones aren't supported on ICS anymore.

He hooked his phone to his PC and it installed the drivers, then reconized the phone as a "mass storage device" and had several folders one of which was "ringtones" he copied and pasted his MP3 tones there. Once undocked from the PC, the phone reconized the sounds as ringtones and he was able to set them as such.

Can you not just put the file into a self created media folder? It should then display as an option?
In Froyo, While listening to music, you press menu and there will be a 'Set as Ringtone' option, Would be totally awkward if ICS dont have it.
There is "set as ringtone" option in ICS. Also you can create a media folder in the SD card and put ringtones there.
There is an app in the market ringtone maker that uses your media to make custom ringtones.

with ics is not possible
I'm running ICS 4.0.4 and it works fine for me. I can either long press the music track and "Use as Ringtone" or select it from the menu.
I did not realize of that long press method it works.

Before you say something....think.....
It is possible. You need to have the right folder location to add it to the list of ringtones. There's one for notifications and one for ringtones. That's how the music apps are able to add them.
/ringtones for ringtones
/notifications for notifications
/alarms for alarms

or you could do
media/ringtones for ringtones
media/notifications for notifications
media/alarms for alarms

Doesn't matter where they are as long as they're named correctly.

Hello ladies and gents!
This is my first thread I've opened on here and it's the thread I've been looking for lol. Instead I figured this out myself. For the longest time I was straight bugged how crappy the graphics looked in Asphalt 7 for our phone, I mean it's got a pretty legit graphics chip and cpu in it!
So after about 8 hours of meddling, searching, editing, getting irked, getting not irked, meddling some more, I FINALLY got this config to work. Now what SHOULD work is the following:
Shadows on everything
Reflections on cars
Blur when full Nitro
Hi-Res Maps
High Quality Car Shaders (I think lol I put true so I dunno)
I Just ripped this from my game so it works as long as you bought it from the play store.
any questions, comments, concerns I'll be happy to assist anyone!

[EDIT] I ended up enabling the hi res maps because the game is so ugly without them. I've been playing the game constantly for a week now and I feel like my phone is adapting to the visual demand and it's a little smoother now. I dunno but it first was pretty bad. I know there are other settings I could disable to make it perfect, because i know without any of these settings enabled it runs 60fps
[DUBBLE EDDIT] Here are some instructions in case you need help!
"Here is what i did.
Copied the obb file to my desktop.
Then changed the file from .obb to .zip
Opened the zip file, file navigate until you find the device config folder
Open the device config folder and you will see the .xml file. Delete it.
Now copy the XML I put on here (unzip it) and put in the folder where you deleted the old XML file.
Save and apply. Close the zip file. Go back to the asphalt folder on your phone and delete the obb file and put the one you modified in its place.
Asphalt will want a 1MB download and you know it worked when you see your car reflection at the selection screen"
Can we get a picture comparison? I can provide you the stock if you need.
Shh! maybe I'm just paranoid, but I think people are listening....
Good point! lol I I'll post the pictures in my op. If you have any stock that'd be great, though I have no problem modifying my device config I have a pseudo one that I have notes on so I know what i edited and what I didn't.
i believe we should replace the xml file and not flash the zip, if so, can you give us the location of the xml file on the device?
Yes do not flash the zip!
The location is (under internal phone storage) android\obb\ (the folder with A7 in the name). Then look for the .obb file. Then change the .obb to .zip or open using 7zip. Then browse the folders for device config folder, open it and delete or overwrite the .XML file.
Impressive!

Bump for the great justice! This really makes this game not just look great but really stresses the gs3 to its limit.
I've tried searching for this but only found stuff in the SGN2 forums.
Is there anyway to disable/move the Multi-Window button? This button is making some of my applications considerably more difficult to use since it blocks functionality partially in some apps.
Yeah hold done back button to disable.. also you can just drag and drop the icon.. so you can have it where you like it!!

Doesn't get in the way of any apps Ive tried

I've just tried this. The back button method doesn't work and the button is not draggable. I had been trying to avoid flashing, but looks like I might have to.
Is there really no way? That multi windows button is pretty annoying, and I never use multiwindows. That zip merely makes it translucent but I guess it will have to do. =/

If you have a custom recovery installed then you can follow JamMasterClay's instructions in this thread.
However, the icon replacements he offered were not quite what I wanted since I wanted to remove the button completely. So, I just downloaded one of the button mods that he has available and extracted the zip, replaced the two png files with the two originally posted by heavylildude in this thread and created a new zip archive. Then used the newly created archive as per JamMasterClay's instructions. The floating cascade window is now gone from my apps (you do lose the functionality, but it's worth the trade off in my opinion, but you probably do want to back up the undo zip in case you ever want it back).
There may be an easier way to do this, but I wasn't sure if you could just copy the two png files directly into the apk.
