Howdy!
On the weekend I copied the sound files from the Xoom to the Asus using adb. The files transferred just fine but initially did not show up in the selection menu for sounds. After a reboot they made it to the menu, however, they all appear twice.
SOLUTION: Instead of copying the files to system/media/audio/(Notifications, Alarms, Ringtones) I copied the files to sdcard/(Notifications, Alarms, Ringtones) and after a reboot everything is as it is supposed to be!

Since I had some trouble getting the files onto the TF I checked if maybe the files appeared twice as well but they are only there as single copy.
Does anyone have an idea of how to remove the duplicate entries?
Thanks!
Don't have my transformer to check, picking up replacement tomorrow, but its possible the duplicated ones are the default ones that come with the transformer and you have added them again. I'm guessing both tabs have the same honeycomb stock notifications.
Another possibility is that as well as /media/audio/notifications that you have them duplicated in /notifications which does the same job and would give 2 entries.

That was a very good suggestion but there are 2 issues:
1. The Xoom sounds were not included with the transformer; that's why I copied them in the first place.
2. I checked the folders in the root directory and they are all empty.
Maybe you can confirm when you get your device back

Just a shameless bump! Can anyone help?
Well, I managed to solve the issue. I deleted the audio files from the system/media/audio/notifications directory and the duplicates disappeared while the sounds are still playing. I wish I knew more about how Honeycomb handles the system sounds...

I flashed my Jack with WM 6.5 recently and loaded the Titanium panels. But I am not seeing an "all in one" panel for Missed calls, Email, Text, and Voicemail. Instead I have a panel for each one.
I checked out the list of apps/panels in the 3vo ROM's for the Excalibur and nothing seemed to be the panel I'm after.
See middle Screenshot at the bottom of first post:

Or just below the Wifi panel in this SS.

Anyone know where I can find the stand alone installer? Or help narrow down the search terms? The results I am getting haven't helped find it yet.
I was able to find the info in the Titanium CPR file on the 3VO rom, so I copied that over to the file for my phone. It works!
I just can't find the icons though, I've got red x's on the condensed view and 2 of 4 icons in expanded have red x's. I've looked over the text a lot and I just can't find where they are pulling from.
Looking at the image keys in the registry I see the following:
Value Name: chNotification_cv_email
Value Data: 2003
I'm guessing that is pulling from a DLL, but I am stumped on where to find the name of the DLL so I can view the contents to pick new icons.
Have you tried checking with CHomeConfigurator? I have both the combined panel and the individual ones...
U must install titanium notifications plug

I think you would have to edit the CPR file and comment out the items you don't want to use. If you're editing the CPR file, make a copy for safe keeping in case you mess it up.
Commenting an item out should be easy enough, you'll probably have to adjust the spacing afterwards to get things to appear neatly again.
It's the preinstalled version.
I rooted on the 21st, and it's been running fine.
Nothing new was installed recently.
I have the beta login details from when I used my Nexus One. I will try to "freeze" via Titanium, and re-install via beta/download.
I'll report back if it works or doesn't.

Weird. Mine is still working. I hope it doesn't stop!
I'm rooted as well.
I froze it, but it was still visible.
Since it's a system app, I didn't wanna remove/uninstall/delete it.
So I renamed the "Swype.apk" file to "Swype.apk.bak". That removed it from settings, etc.
I downloaded the installer.
I get this error.
So I reverted everything back to how they were.
Swype still not working.
I may have to check their forums.
No resolution yet. And there doesn't seem to be any active involvement over there.
I just may remove it entirely, and attempt a Titanium backup from my Nexus One installation.
Like many of you, I simply hate 'pecking at the keyboard' to send a message
I've come to rely on Swype so much, this is painful for my thumb.
I agree. Swype is the only way to type.
Hard reset?

NOPE!
Didn't work.
OKAY I FEEL STUPID!
This line "ro.product.model" in "build.prop" = "LG-P999".
I decided to change that so something COOOL, like OrganizedFellows G2x.
I guess that broke Swype.
After I changed it back to LG-P999, Swype works.
dumb, huh?
Well, at least I know.
Didn't seem to have it installed. Did a search in root explorer and found swype.bfz. Renamed it to swype.apk and installed it. Runs! Any ideas about the .bfz extension?
Hope this may help someone else who is looking for it on their phone.

Found these threads earlier today. For some reason, the first word I write in Swype only shows the last letter on this phone, was hoping the Beta may work, as I never had an issue with it on my Nexus One.
Hi guys,
Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I am new to Android.
Just got my wonderful piece of kit, but am struggeling to find out how to copy and paste text.
Could anyone help?
long press on the text you would like to copy and you will see two markers and a pop-up menu.
also long press in the area you would like to paste, you'll see pop-up menus too
those menus are customizeable so they're different from app to app..but should be ituitive enough to use anyway..
@magicpork
Thanks a lot-this works!
Now am busy trying to figure out how to copy and paste files.
I have tried to copy them from the file manager and paste to the SD card, but when I made a long press in the area I wanted to paste it too-it grabbed the files which already were there.
errgmmm...help?
Does anyone know how can I copy and paste files (not the text).
Help please
the top-right button in the file manager is paste!
Download File Manager HD (Honeycomb) by Rhythm Software from the market, makes copying files a breeze.

Thanks for the info-I'll try that
I have the same issue...anyone can help with this??
Is there a keyboard app that moves the cut and copy and paste down from the top while typing to the text area-like the iphone- so I don't have to reach up there to perform? I was like a machine on the iphone-I suck on this s3! I recognize the superiorty of the droid but its little thkngs like this-having to stop and use two thumbs- that make me twice as lesselessefficient....see? This Sucks!
Any Ideas out there for what I'm looking for?
THANKS!

It is app dependent, some apps put the paste in line with the text area like the iPhone, others it is at the top.
You can try an app like ThumbKeyboard, it has an option to add some of your own softkeys. Here is my Thumb Keyboard setup on my 10" tablet for Portrait mode:

Not sure how it will work/look on a phone, but give it a shot.
By now, some you have seen reports about the latest bit of under-the-covers eavesdropping, this time by HtcLoggers.apk. In case you haven't, this post on Android Police details the whole thing pretty well.
One thing that really caught my attention was the graphic showing all the different ways various bits of Android snoop on you:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
Those of us not running HTC software don't have to worry about most of these. The one that remains for all of us, at least according to the research so far, is Google Checkin, part of GoogleServicesFramework.apk. You can see in the graphic what kind of information Checkin collects and where it puts it. I've seen /data/system/dropbox before, occasionally I clear it out because it collects a huge number of files. I hadn't really paid much attention to /data/system/usagestats.
Using Root Explorer, I see that the permissions on both these directories is rwx------. As an experiment, to see if I can block whatever Checkin is collecting, I deleted their contents and then removed all permissions on these directories (and rebooted for good measure). I did this about an hour ago. So far, the directories have remained empty.
My G2 (running ILWT CM7 build 216) appears to be functioning normally, including the Market. If anything malfunctions, I'll report here.
Update. More directories to block: /data/anr, /data/tombstones, /data/dontpanic. File to block: /data/system/userbehavior.db (I first used SQLite Editor to empty the file).
Do not attempt this procedure on /data/system/throttle -- this caused my phone to enter a boot loop, which I had to repair by booting into recovery and then reverting my permissions change through ADB.
Quick follow-up... Looks like removing all permissions on the two directories has no effect on the phone's behavior. I've seen no breakage and the directories remain empty. So if you want to thwart some data collection, this looks like a decent approach.
So now that some time has passed, what is veridict? Were there any averse affects on the phone? Does everything still work?
Still seeing no problems. I did the same thing to my Nook Color, and it's also behaving normally.
This is very interesting, I'll try changing the permissions too.
Updated original post: added a few more directories to block based on additional information reported by the Carrier IQ Logging Test App.
I also gave this a try...
And so far so good! Thanks!
My entirely non-techy but for some reason reliant on God Mode wife suggested I see if it worked on my new surface.
It does (or did the title give it away?)
For those that forgot:
◦Create a new folder anywhere on the Desktop.
◦Rename the folder by pasting this name exactly as it appears (copy it first):
◦GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
So far I have discovered you can add the "traditional" icons to the desktop and their is a TFTP client that can be installed.

Convenient, but - for the record - nothing that can't be done elsewhere. It's a useful aggregation of advanced features, but I don't think it actually exposes anything that can't be reached from some other way. Windows Features, for example, can be accessed by simply typing "features" into Start (it's under the "Settings" category).
Not to say that this isn't a cool hack, but it doesn't actually give you any more power - just convenience.
