[Q] MIUI Vibration Intensity - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I am experiencing a very low intensity with the vibration in our MIUI rom. I was wondering if there is a way to make it stronger. It feels weak. Also I'm not sure if this is default but the Capacitive buttons don't vibrate when touched. That annoys me a bit. Otherwise I'm really loving this MIUI rom and I don't know why it took me so long to use it.

Think it's something being worked on along with ringtones.

Thanks, I thought it was just the ringtones being worked on.

I'm PRETTY sure I read that it was being looked into. I could be wrong though. It happens from time to time usually more often than I would like lol.

I just hope it gets fixed soon. I love this rom!

Raver needs AOSP kernel to fix this
he's also working with MIUI team to get it fixed along with ringtones

Thanks erikmm, you've been a lot of help to me!

it's all good man everyone here helps each other
also if u want try Sweet Child rom it has alot of miui in it

We're getting this same issue in the CM7 test builds. I've been looking into it. It's probably the same reason why it's not working in MIUI.

The best ROM for my mom

My mom just got an Infuse 4G last night. She's unhappy with the stock ROM (rather, she's not liking it). Realistically I am using this opportunity to break the woman into smartphones, and the Infuse 4G is a great one with a screen that she can read (I love the look of that AMOLED, it's making me want a Samsung when it's time to upgrade).
The question is, which ROM is the most user-friendly? If you read my sig you'll see I have an Atrix 4G myself and am currently running an Alpha ROM so you'll know I am no stranger to the mod community. I just don't want to go from ROM to ROM to ROM showing her each one, wasting my entire day reflashing her phone. If anyone can come up with one or two suggestions for me to try for her, I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm looking for something ICS-like, smooth as butter, and not over-the-top like some of the Atrix guys like to go. Thanks for your help!

Imho, find out what she wants out of the phone and tweak it with apps. Stick with stock froyo and avoid the grief.
Ex. Big text battery indicator to show battery. Business calendar is better than stock. Go launcher is better than stock. Show her how to put direct dial shortcut on the screen etc...show her the widgets.
Leave the rom alone because everything works.
From my experience, it's the app and how to use the phone...not the ROM
For better battery life, odin flash one of the stock gingerbread leaks and leave it. KK4 leak would be OK. KL2 is better but tw30 is messed up on it. I like the stock froyo but the battery life sucks.

See I'm attempting to throw CatyRom on it, the ICS app tray is really what I'm after. Something like that would keep it simple for her to find things without having to go through the app drawer which is what has overloaded her in the past. She absolutely refuses to use an iPhone because of this.

Hah. I thought this thread was a joke when I read the subject line.
Well at this point it we have a handful of really good stable, infuse based roms. So it's all about what color she wants really lol.
Have her take a look at the screenshots for : Zeus, Caty, Bionix, Numas, Victory rom, or infused(old one but a goodie). And pick which one is astheticaly pleasing to her.
Nah, no joke. I made some modifications that allow single-touch activation of apps/tools but other than that she seems happy with Caty. She's a blue person, so it worked in my favor.
It seems odd that someone who has had no experience with smartphones minus playing with someone's iPhone and hating it would want to jump head-long into the ROM world but she's seen the difference it made in my phone. ICS on my Atrix is great, and I am hoping that one day you guys get it running on the Infuse, it seems like a good phone and you folks seem like an intelligent bunch.
Zeus (gb rom).
Plus:
Bluetooth and wifi are working good. Good battery. GPS is good.
Minus (common to ALL gb roms):
HDMI out does not work

Valhalla Black. Solid. Waiting for miui
I use my slightly modified valhalla black.
I added /etc/profile with some command line aliases since I use the CLI a lot more than I used to now.
Updated superuser and some other files, my own bootanimation, my own init.d files and a few apps added on install and some more debloating of apps I don't use. It's still 99% VB though.
My favorite thing about it is the stability. Raver did some fine work with that ROM in addition to the work Whitehawk did.
Was on VB for a long time. Then MIUI for over a month. Now using erikmm's Sweet Child Of Mine. What I like about this one is he's pulled a lot from MIUI and put it in this. Check it out and see. Plus the name is just bad ass.
MIUI. I never have to answer the phone immediately, and I always had my phone on silent anyway. Everything else is the ****.
I'm on the latest version of Sweet Child Of Mine and loving it!! I love MIUI but I need to have the ringtone work. I like the MIUI features that are incorporated into the Sweet Child Of Mine ROM.

This had to of been one of the easiest ports ever. lol..
This ROM is amazing. One of the best I've seen so far on the Evo Shift. Pretty much everything works out of the box so far. I love the high resolution layout. The tiny text gives me a headache, but I know you're already working on that. I checked out the camera and if you go into settings and set it to 4MP it starts working. You can then put it back up to 5MP. Camera also works fine in barcode scanner, etc. Still need to test the GPS (I'm inside right now but wi-fi based location works without issue).
I installed the Google Now apk from this thread, it it works great.
BTW, the market got stuck on downloading at one point, but a reboot fixed it.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback!! I'm glad you enjoy my work! I'll start the Google Now soon I need help from a friend with the whole small text thing, then I'll launch into other things. Thanks!!

I've got someone to help me with getting Jelly Bean for everyone. I'm NOT guaranteeing that I will get it booted. I'll let everyone know if I have the Rom booted or not either 7/25/12 or 7/26/12. All this work is making me dizzy lol. I can't wait to see if I can get it booted! There will be no developing on this paranoid android Rom FOR NOW due to me focusing on 4.1 for everyone. Cheers

You're doing a great job! Keeping the shift alive!
I would thank you both but I'm limited and I'm glad you like my paranoid. Just can't focus on 2 Roms at once so most of my focus will be towards 4.1 for the time being. I know that 4.1 will bump the Shift up a lil and keep it out the Low Activity & Legacy Devices AKA HTC Hero CDMA. Still shocked they got it before we did. Well it sure did motivate me to start 4.1 I'm getting help from Shelnutt2 with my 4.1. So all creds go to him! Without him I wouldn't know where to begin Have a great day and looking forward to getting 4.1 to the shift

Modifying /system/build.prop to add the line below will make it so that "Paranoid Settings" starts working (don't know which version of paranoid android you're using, so I had to guess).
Code:
ro.pa.version=paranoidandroid-pa_speedy-1.5a-25jun2012-170644
Then going into Paranoid Settings -> "Hybrid Settings" -> "Default Status Bar Density" you can change how big you want it. 160 DPI works for me. You can also change other apps to have different DPIs.

dr4stic's Experimental Build FunHouse! (CM10, CM9, m0R3?) for T769 and others, Oh My!

Hi guys,
I seem to have a need to run experimental builds. And since I turned the other thread into an official CM10 thread (stupid of me, I know), I thought I'd create this one to run experimental builds on.
What constitutes an experimental build? Well... mostly tweaks to our device profile. Turning on and off features we do or don't have on the phone. Maybe I'll try experimental AOKP or other releases, but most importantly:
I DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS!
Please don't ask for things that really should be mods and handled in the Themes and Apps section. You'll just be annoying me and cluttering the thread.
Please see the second post for misc. things I'm working on.
Also, be nice to all posters... even the [email protected] This is the Android Dev section and I'd like to see a certain level of decorum. We only get better by rising above.
AS ALWAYS, VERIFY ALL MD5 SUMS BEFORE INSTALLING.
ALSO, IF YOU FIND SERIOUS (or even minor) WEIRDNESS, PLEASE DO A FULL WIPE AND VERIFY BEFORE REPORTING!
Thanks
So, I talked to some guys, and I'm hoping the following kernel soves some of the SoD issues people have been having. Folks, PLEASE remember that you need to run this for at least a day or two without rebooting your phone on purpose. If it crashes out or reboots on it's own, that's a different story. I need this to be more of a long term test. As soon as I can confirm this works, I'll get it patched and submitted to official.
CM10 2012-11-11 Build. SoD Fix Attempt 1: boot-cm10.t769-noSoD.zip - 6.89 MB (Dirty flash OK, no need to wipe dalvik)
NOTE!!!
Sometimes I'll mention I uploaded a build. It takes about 25-30 minutes for me to upload a 160MB file. So if you don't see a file immediately, give it a half hour and come back.
Cleanup...
Unless there are any objections, I'll be removing the following files from my dev-host account, as well as older builds:
T769 - CM9 Experimental build, 10/25 Latest: cm-9-20121025-UNOFFICIAL-t769.zip - 137.16 MB
T769 - CM9 Kernel Flash for 10/30 build, Random WiFi MAC Fix: boot-kernel-cm9-wireless-mac-fix-20121030.zip - 6.99 MB

I works, though wonky.
BLN was wonky in CM9, that's just how it was. In fact, when talking amongst the devs about doing a CM9 build, the dude that was responsible for the BLN stuff said "don't forget CM9 has the wonky BLN" ... yeah. It's the same experience as from CM10.
The CM10 implementation is supposed to be cleaner, but the rewrite was so extensive that it is killing me to try to work support for us back into it. In fact, the CM10 very of our build uses the CM9 driver, until I can finish my port.
So, yeah, the BLN will be the same as in the CM10 release.

It should be fairly vanilla CM9, except based on my sources rather than TFQ's. I'm hoping I can get some feedback on stability and features (other than BLN) because I'm curious about the comparison to CM10. Also, because an official build of CM9 might go a long way towards making people happier about their CM experience while CM10 goes through it's growing pains

Thanks! Yeah, no one else reported back on it. I think I may have found the volume issue. Looks like I may have missed some things in the kernel. Gonna finish building some new patches tonight, so we'll see. With any luck, by the end of the day we'll have a stable CM9 where the sound is what it should be, and I577 will have a CM9 that doesn't spin like a top
And... this might help towards some sound stuff that was just reported for the CM10 build as well.

Hah! Don't get too excited... I may have been wrong
Sorry to be late guys.... This rom is probably the most stable rom out there for ics.... the only drawback is the music playback from the speakers... the headphones seem to work perfect even with apollo. Also with amazon mp3 player.. Very smooth, fluid. Feels very fast. But I noticed one glitch in any app if I close the status bar real fast I see like half of the screen flash black. To reproduce this glitch you can just open messaging: pull down the bar, let it go, then real fast drag it to the top......
Glad to hear you guys are having a good experience with this build. With any luck, it'll be "official" early next week.
I loaded a new kernel into my CM9 builds area (see second post). Please load that one up as it's what will ultimately be pushed. If I could get a day or two's worth of feedback, I'd appreciate it. It's OK to dirty flash. You can wipe dalvik if you like.
I loaded some music on my test phone and, honestly... I'm not sure how loud it's supposed to get. The volume didn't change with the final kernel patching I did. Though, the other kernel's volume seems fine to my ears You're talking about the speakerphone, right?
My test music sounded fine to me... maybe I'll load up CM10 and see if there's a difference.
EDIT: loaded CM10 and volume levels seem the same to me. . o (you can get with this... or you can get with that...)

After finally mustering the courage to root I flashed CM10, and it was seamless, man. Aside from the occasional force close it was absolutely perfect. I just flashed LiquidSmooth and so far its running fairly well (keeping a backup of CM10 just in case ) It seems to me Liquid has more options for customization and has some pretty useful tools built into the ROM instead of going third party, but it just doesn't feel like it runs quite as smooth. Customization and tools, or a seamless UI, that is the question.
