I'm a truck driver and I'm a heavy user.
I did too before I made the changes below. These all work with the Stock Rom.
1. Installed No Lock (so that I don't have to swipe the screen to unlock, just push the power button)
2. Set screen to turn off in 30 seconds.
3. Installed Brightness Widget (allows changing the brightness from the home screen
4. Installed Screen Filter (lets me really darken my screen at night.
Try those and see how you do.
5. I then flashed the Infused Rom (I now get up to 10-14 hours)

Also, Turn off GPS and Wifi when you're not using them.
Battery
After much experimenting and monitoring of battery use I find that the biggest drain is the screen display, so go to settings-->display-->brightness and lower the screen brightness as low as you comfortably can. Also when you you are not using the phone make sure the screen is off, I have trained myself to automatically hit the power button every time I put down the phone. If you listen to music through your phone make sure the settings on your music players allow the phone to play when the screen is off and turn the screen off while it plays.
GPS also drains the battery, so I keep it turned off when I don't use the Nav. When I use the Nav I know the battery will drain at a rapid pace, nothing you can do there, even if I have the phone plugged in to car power while using Nav it still drains the battery! Drains slower than unplugged navigating but still drains.
If your watching videos then your S.O.L. there's really nothing you can do that will increase battery life enough to make a difference during video playback.
I get 10-12 hours with regular use and stock rom. Worst was 8 hours best was 24.
Thanks for all the advice this has really helped my battery

There was a recent post that showed a shortcut for changing the screen brightness from the homescreen without any additional software. First, turn off auto brightness. Second, tap and hold the menu bar at the top. Third, slide left to reduce the screen brightness and right to increase screen brightness.

It seems that Samsung ****ed up and included phone CPU/screen/etc usage when measuring battery charge current.
This means that the 600 mA stock battery charge current limit isn't just going to the battery, it's split between battery/screen/CPU. If screen/CPU/etc go above 600 mA (Navigation at full brightness seems to be the most common way), battery starts draining.
It also means that unless there's something I'm missing (which I could be since the MAX8998 datasheet is super-ultra-secret), our phone isn't going to be able to do proper charge termination - if the screen is on/CPU is running, it will cause a falsely high battery charge current reading, which will cause charging to fail to terminate.
Juice defender
I found that juice defender helped my battery and i just use the free version it's a great app

look in about phone battery use to identify the biggest battery user, it should be the screen. anything else and there is a problem.
the cell standby may go high on froyo rom, turning on flight mode and turning it off will correct that, it's an android bug.
on gingerbread the android os or android system may hog battery occasionally. some think it is the wifi sleep policy but it pops up on me without setting the sleep policy. the fix for that is to pull the battery for a couple minutes and put it back in and restart the phone.
next manage the screen brightness
install a custom rom, there are issues with certain firmware keeping sensors active wen they shouldn't be.
turn off unneeded sync options (i find that auto fetching my email uses a lot especially with my gmail already set to sync),
use wifi when you use the internet if possible, turn it off when out and about.
monitor cpu useage of apps that are cached in the task manager
kill apps that use cpu
if needed turn the max cpu clock down to 800mhz
set "use wireless networks" for location when possible for general location (limited to city level at times)

Actually, high cell standby is OK if the phone is screen-off often.
Cell standby is always my top user - but my phone is sitting on my desk with the screen off frequently, in a location with weak signal. Weak signal makes cell standby usage go WAY up.

Hi,
In my little experience, there is no software that makes alot of diference, normaly what i do is:
disable motion
insert *#9900# and disable Fast dormacy - check is your network needs this
disable sync for accounts
disable GPS
disable wifi gps
disable wifi when not using
set brightness level to auto
set wifi sleep policy to when pluged in
Of course there are a couple more things you could do, and again this is what i do cant say it will work as good for you.
rooting.
Tasker
With it one can automate almost everything on the phone.
It's almost like programming i use it all the time and there are a lot of examples on this forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110775
Juice Defender Ultimate + Battery Saver Pro (by Antutu).
I tryed a few battery saver apps but no longer use them as i found if i turn auto sync off, change wifi sleep policy to never, untick network notification, and use task manger frequently to kill unused apps my battery lasts a lot longer. I also use easy task killer and set it to kill all apps every 30 mins. im using king cobra v1.1 for evo 3d gsm and the battery life is amazing!! just swapping battery's over now and its nearly 9pm!!
If any one needs any help rooting or unrooting the evo 3d gsm hboot 1.4.9.0018 let me know as i have done it a few times now. I unrooted my phone back to ***locked*** s-on with no traces of rooting, then checked for ota updates, wouldnt of installed them tho even if there was one!! then downgraded back too 1.4.9.0007 and rooted it again with revolutionary.

forgot to mention auto brightness is a must. and i also calibrate battery after installing roms . can anyone please tell me if calibrating the battery every time it gets to 100% is good or bad? thanks.
When you use an xperia mini pro like me, with just 970 mAh, you get to try all possible battery savers... and unfortunetly no one of them makes the exception... actually as said evilchild, they don't make difference...
just disable everything that may drain your battery, your launcher effects too can be in cause, get rid of unuseful apps, put your brightness to lowest levels or just get it to auto if your rom use it... choose the best profile for your CPU... and with this you are good for 10 new hours in your daily battery life.
I'm not sure a 'battery-saving' app is real.
They just disable some features that we can manually do that. They just make it automatically disabled.
But, 2x Battery is good. It could disable Wifi or mobile data while the display is off.
one touch battery saver is awesome. create a widget to enable/disable wifi, gps, sync, brightness,bt,data ect with one touch!. free on google play

Yeah. There's a thread somewhere which gives real battery saving tips
I tried some apps, but I didn't found one which really improved the battery.
In my opinion the best method is to reduce the brightness.

From the apps I tried out and used, almost all of them just disabled certain things, or tweaked settings that I could have done on my own, and eventually did do.
I found it easier to just go on a sub forum for the phone I had at the time and look up tweaks, tips etc.. I'd say doing this helped me more than any app I found previously, and was easy to do.
Dolphin companion is good and gives more remaining of time.
I use juice defender and the setting: "Only 2G"
3G takes a lot of battery..

None. There are no working saving battery apps, not a single one.
What a battery saving application can do is to change the phone configuration to a lower energy one, just like lowing brightness, disabling data packages and such, to sum up, things you can do by yourself and you'll save the battery that that application consumes.
The best way to save battery is to make a proper use of your phone:
-Disable gps when you don't need it.
-Turn off bluetooth when not needed.
-Keep screen brightness low at all time.
-Disable data packages before going to sleep and enable them again when you wake up.
-Keep your phone clean by periodically uninstalling apps that you don't use anymore and that make unnecesary use of memory, cpu and battery energy.
-Check your battery use statistics and keep an eye on applications that are using energy unefficiently, and replace them with better alternatives. Facebook and facebook messenger are clear examples.
-Some people say that connecting to 2G networks instead of 3G helps as well.
-Activate wifi at home, it seems to eat less battery than connected to 3G.
There are more tips out there, just gogle it and make a responsible use of your phone. Keeping phone clean and lowing brightness will probably make the biggest difference.
Moreover, if android S.O. is on the top of the list of battery use, your phone's software entered a weird condition. Reboot it and if it persist, consider a factory reset.
I hope this helps
I just started evaluating Juice Defender Ultimate to see if it can save battery life, but there are many options that I don't fully understand. I have attached a screenshot of the Notificatin pulldown window from my Galaxy Nexus which shows the JD status. There are 9 objects just to the right of the JD shield. They include 3 icons, 3 colored circles and 3 lines of text. Can anyone explain what each of them mean? I have checked the JD online info, without luck.
My best guess is:
the up/down icon represents mobile data
the red circle next to the up/down icon means mobile data is disabled
the radiation icon represents WiFi
the green circle next to the radiation icon means WiFi is enabled
the 3G icon represents 3g mode
the red circle next to the 3g icon means 3g is disabled and 2g is enabled
As mentioned, these are just my best guesses. I have no idea what the 3 lines of text mean?

Note: How to use Battery Doctor on Android 4.4 KitKat
Android 4.4_r1 removed the possibility for apps to request for the BATTERY_INFO permission, This is the commit https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/3714141d287c965ea3451831dd5167f63f8db87b%5E%21/
The reason (issue mentioned) for the commit is unknown.
This permission and the access to batterystats - formerly known as batteryinfo - service is vital for use cases (and apps) dealing with analysing awake and wakeup causes (battery drainers) as this services gives access to partial wakelocks and alarms.
I would like to request a rollback of the mentioned commit. See issue 61975

Hey man. I have some good feedback for you. After you made some changes to your app my battery life is longer. I see a huge improvement, my battery has now power to a whole day even if I play games and do some other stuff. Before that my battery was drained an hour before I went to bed. Now I have about 10-30% when I go to sleep AND now it's colder here in Denmark. Very cold. You know... batteries use more power when it's cold so that's a good thing, even if it's colder my battery lasts longer.

And maybe the One Power Guard app by onexuan, it is really really good. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but since I installed it and set the CPU speed to min. 120MHz, max. 756MHz, the game lag with the oc kernel described in the Nameless thread lately is gone.
I'll ask einstein.frat about it btw, maybe it helps to have a flawless oc kernel by default.

After using one power guard for one week , battery backup increased with more than 50%...(So at night if its full charge at 6.00am it was above 80% like that)

Install "One Power Guard" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onexuan.battery&hl=en) and use the "AI" mode. It does not affect radio use, but rather optimizes the CPU governor in order to save power depending on what you are using this for. With bluetooth turned on for at least 6 hours a day, email, txting, web browsing and some video, my streak last me throughout the whole day, and I usually have about 20%-25% left by the time i get home at night--try it out!

Installing it now. I have been having horrible battery life recently. 2-3 hrs per battery with everything off (wifi, bluetooth, 3g, gps,etc...). I am currently looking at the battery usage screen. After 35m 31s, I have 59% battery left - (cell standby 39%,phone idle 31%, android system 17%, display 15%)
The screen is warm to the touch. I don't think that I could have 3 batteries go bad simultaneous? I haven't changed any settings recently. Im on the latest DSC 2.3. I did have a problem similar to this previously but it was a busybox upgrade that caused it. I downgraded and everything went back to normal.

I have been using an app called One Power Guard which does seem to improve battery life mainly during standby without any discernible decrease in performance. This app causes various system and kernel tweaks,
Disabling data connections etc is well known to help improve battery life but I have also found a big difference by turing off Use Wireless networks in the Location and Security Settings.
A second battery with this ROM is recommended and I am very happy with the Mugen 1800mah battery.

First option, I suggest you to use the ONE POWER GUARD app... The latest version is stable and there is a battery calibration function in the options.
Second option, download 'battery calibration' in the Google Play. Just for simple battery calibration only...
I STILL RECOMMEND ONE POWER GUARD. IT CAN OPTIMIZE YOUR KERNEL, ROM, WI-FI, 3G AND I/O SCHEDULER SO THAT TO MAINTAIN BATTERY LIFE. IT'S A NICE TRY.
Here is the step (The developer recommend us to follow these steps but not necessary)
THE FIRST AND SECOND STEP IS THE BATTERY CALIBRATION PROCESS
1. CHARGE your phone to 100%
2. Click on battery calibration button first (battery calibration app or ONE POWER GUARD app), then only plug off your charger.

Q:Why the phone slow after I set?
A:I want to talk about my story, last night, a user looked for me, he said that his issue about installing the 2.1 version.he said his device lagged in the standby mode. I told that we work together to solve this problem. After work, I went back to my dorm. I started to write a test interface for him. 1.5 hours later, we started testing. He began to test my ten steps. Finally, each step ran well. But the issue had not yet been found. I let him try again AI mode.his device lagged.Because his device does not support to adjust the CPU. So my judgment is because IO schedule issue, he set the "CFQ", I let him try to change IO. (His Rom Only support CFQ and Noop). He changed to "Noop", All things became perfect. Finally solve the issue.
Final conclusion: Try to change some settings until it is the best.

Q:Does this application modify the kernel? I am very worried about this.
A:Yes. This app modifies kernel parameters, Do not worry. For example: when you buy two different phones, whose kernel are not the same. Google Android also changes the kernel. Every producers are revising its own kernel.
If you are a geek, you can modify some of the initialization files and put them into init.d folder. Does this not modify the kernel?
When you root your phone, You have already modified your kernel.

Android has a app process management mechanisms, when a process is killed by third-party applications, the android system will determine whether the process will be run again, if it is, the process will run, the kill process will repeat thereby creating an infinite loop, resulting in increased power consumption. Therefore, you should consider uninstalling third-party process management software.

Hi, Thank you for this application. Just installed will update the results later. Few questions for my understanding,
#1) I see different modes and from the name I can somewhat understand what it suppose to be. Is it advisable to have set it in one mode or different ones based on need. If so is it possible to do this automatically? ( Like on Night put it on Standby Mode, On Work hours Put it on Batter Saver, On Normal time put it on AI mode), As of now we need to do this manually, correct?
#2) Battery % is it possible to show them in increment of 1% rather than increment of 10%..I use Motrolo Atrix 2, it seems shows up only 80%, 90%...
Love the Circle and floating indicator of battery 1% make it even sweeter.
Thank you again.

1、Just use AI mode, you are able to enjoy all things. You do not always switch different modes.
2、For some strange reason, Motorola decided to only show the battery level in 10-percent increments on most of their Android devices.
Few suggestion
1.u can include info about each mode its not clear unless u r xda guy
2. Scheduler for mode would be great feature like in night i dont use phone much so i can put in power saver mode but do not want to do mannualy .we can automate mode switching according to time of day. Similar kind of mode switching automation will add 5 stars to your app

Thank you for the feedback, I looked at my AndroidManifest.xml file, it is set such <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.camera" android:required="false" /> it required false. This is my negligence. You don't have to take care of security issues. We do not have to do through this. The next version(V2.0), you will see that it will be deleted.

Because the desktop has a floating window, when the calls comes in, this app needs to remove this floating window to ensure that does not affect the calls. Many APP to use this <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE" />

l like this application. since yesterday i install new version my battery drop more slowly(for example my battery level stay at 51% during 12h ).
yeah that's work great on my galaxy pocket i can see the difference on powersave mode.
like also to see with defense what application wakeup too often.
big thanks to the developper
I checked the frequency that it is always at the max of it (example for ai mode is 1075,current freq always remain at 1075)
And the optimization tips notification is quite annying..bounce out every percentage drops..
Still testing this app ^^
Nice interface! If only the app can reslove the wakeup of apps too,it gonna hit the news!

i think you cannot change the behaviour of an application that wakeup too often.the problem is that the developper not well programmed his application . the only remedy is to replace by an alternative app more battery friendly(that wake up less)
then wat about the freq? max freq all the time more likely to drain battery right?

"the optimization tips notification is quite" Originally, you can turn off this tips in settings interface, but 1.9 version has a bug. I will fix turn off tips bug in 2.0 version.
why my optimus black with stock freq. 300-1000 mhz, with all options the min.frequence is at 600 mhz?
I would like to change and save the options for the frequencies
Well, I thought that I know how it works, but after reaching 20% I have got that fancy message under the main widget that I need to enable Battery Saver option, when I have enabled it right the way during phone setup.
My questions are:
- what exactly is done after switching Battery Saver to "ON"? I don't see any additional options for ON statement
- when is OFF and battery will reach 20% does it will trigger manual battery saving options?
Thanks
After you turn it in, just touch right next to the switch that says "battery saver". That will open up the options that you can select.
If you have the battery saving option turned off...well the it won't do anything for your battery

When I have turned off I'm able to choose what can be turned off when battery will reach 20%. When is ON I'm not able. For me it looks like:
- Battery Saver ON - it makes automatic decisions by the system what must be reduced when reached 20%
- Battery Saver OFF - it will use your set rules what must be turned off when reached 20%
or I have a bug in my system which allows to choose options when Battery Saver is set to OFF statement

I see what your saying. Just looked at mine. Yeah it does let you select and make changes when its set to OFF but don't think anything would kick in unless you have it set to on. You can also change the percentage that the battery saver will kick on at if you didn't want it on at 20%.
Can test it out if you wanted. Just see what percentage your battery is on and change the saver to kick on at a percent your almost at. Then see if it goes on. If it does then turn saver off and see if the notification goes away. Not sure if I wrote that in a way that's understandable lol.

So I have done few tests and it comes that if the function is ON then it executes set rules. No clue why rules can be set when the function is OFF.
Also I have no clue what I have triggered there but now I have 57% batter with usage of 42 hours and estimated remaining 113h

So I've been browsing for the past 2 hours on wifi and these are my stats.
Battery: 2200 mAh
SoC: Extremely Power Hungry MT6591
Brightness: Adequate
Now at 35%, the phone was being used pretty much constantly (chrome, a movie in mx player, imgur, 2 hours on whatsapp, light CoC)
Here are the results.
19%. And this is the max I could manage. Going to plugin now.
Testing out now...Thanks!!

Blue Blood Modified Battery Profile (SOT) for L Speed + GovTuner
NOTE: This profile and the configurations for GovTuner is entirely based upon the need for more SOT or 'screen-on-time'. Performance improvements are not the 'primary' objective, but there are some.
Name: Sorry but I couldn't make up a better one. LOL.
This profile will try its best to give you a better screen on time taking into consideration there will be some decrease in performance (some visible, some not).
Installation Instructions
Part 1 - L Speed
1. Download the .zip file attached.
2. Open it with any file manager/archiver and you should see the profile file.
3. Goto your SD Card -> LSpeedBackup (create folder if it doesn't exist) and paste the file inside the .zip there.
4. Open L Speed -> Backup -> Restore: Blue Blood.
L Speed's done.
Part 2 - GovTuner
1. Visit GovTuner's XDA thread and download the latest zip file.
2. Flash the zip file and install 'Terminal Emulator' from playstore.
3. Open 'Terminal Emulator', and type 'su' and enter. Grant the SuperSU request and you will now be in a root shell.
4. Now type 'govtuner' and enter.
5. Choose battery profile by typing '1' and touching enter.
6. After activating battery profile, enter 'i' and enter '2' as the value.
7. Now you can press the 'X' on the top right hand corner to close the window.
GovTuner is now all setup.
You are pretty much ready now. Enjoy your extra SOT!!
I SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND USING AppOpsXposed, Greenify, Amplify and Powernap with this to get rid of the idle drain because in the end that too translate to a better SOT. :highfive: (The below results are obtained with the help of those applications too)
My phone which is an extremely battery hungry thing needs to be charged atleast 3 times a day to last from morning to night. With this I've managed to get away with just 1 charge for 14 hours (4-4.5 hours of SOT vs 1-2 hours).
Please do reply back with your experiences. I'm waiting for some happy faces. :fingers-crossed:
Also criticisms.

Hey, thanks for sharing this! Much needed for my phone htc desire 816 (a5dwg) running lineage 7.1.1 and at any rom, it is hungry. I mean literally I've purchased a new original 2600mAh battery for this reason. Still the problem persists. Today only, I've charged the phone to full and kept it on airplane and silent (took the phone to school ), and found that after 3 hours, battery is 20-25% reduced. I'm a little noob that's why I'm asking you that "what are the steps that should be followed / apps to be installed to maintain the battery like yours

Glad I can help. Something is keeping your phone awake all that time that its's not going to deep sleep. That's mostly Google to blame but let's start with the basics
Before that don't call yourself a noob. You got a custom ROM running, most people I know can't even do that.
To fix Idle Drain
First find if you have Idle drain.
Install Better Battery Stats and open it, grant root etc. Now plug the phone to the charger and hit refresh. Now unplug the charger, turn the screen off for a minute or so.
Now turn it on, you should see the device state. If it says Deep Sleep 0%, then the below things can help you.
Disable background Wi-Fi scanning.
Your phone scans for WiFi even when you turn it off. The steps below are based on my Lollipop 5.1, but I believe it's the same on 7.1 too.
Goto Settings -> Wifi -> The three buttons on the top right -> Advanced
There disable 'Network Notifications', 'Scanning Always Available' and 'Keep Wifi awake during sleep'.
Greenify
You must already be using this.
As a rule of thumb, greenify any app which requires an internet connection, those keep waking the system over and over again. Just make sure you don't add any core system apps.
If you have Facebook's app installed, remove it. It's the biggest battery hogging app ever happened (i don't agree that's made) in human history. Use it in chrome. Or any wrapper apps from Play store: Metal, Friendly are a few options.
If you have xposed installed,
Powernap
Set it to endurance mode and that's all. Whitelist amplify, greenify and lspeed. You can whitelist more apps later if you feel the need.
Amplify
This is a must in reducing wakelocks. Unfortunately I can't write the whole procedure here because it's been done before. Check this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884
Still, every phone is unique. After following that thread, IF your device still isn't sleeping (after trying the below too), try blocking more wakelocks. Do a search if you are not sure of a particular wakelock. It will take some time, but it will be worth it.
AppOpsXposed
You can disable some of Google's data collection and analytics whatever stuff using this. Follow this nice thread. It helps massively.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/existenz-hacks-tweaks-battery-life-t3516705
If you have managed to get that deep sleep in BetterBatteryStats almost 90% of the time the screen was off, then congratulations you have fixed your Idle drain.
