[HOW TO] Decrease battery consumption(MOST EFFECTIVE WAY)

Hello everyone,
when i was looking for roms kernels and etc i see that the biggest problem is battery consumption. maybe there are some threads here about this but mine is little different. Before setting everything lets calibrate our battery,
Download this app and wait till your battery show 100% (please DO NOT CALIBRATE BEFORE 100%) and open app click "calibrate battery" and unplug the phone. Now you have a calibrated battery.
firstly, we need ROOTED PHONE some apps;
1-ROM TOOLBOX(THE MOST IMPORTANT APP,for market click)
2-GO POWER MASTER (for market click)
3-EASY TASK KİLLER ADVANCED (for market click)
If we had these apps and phone, then LET'S START
As we know the most consumption is done by kernel and the apps that working in background, and the connection units(wifi,3g etc.).
Starting with killing app in background
*Open easy task killer
*From setting >under auto optimize(title) > check the auto optimize.
*Set the auto optimize percent to 60% (this means that when your free memory goes below 60% the app kills all of them ).
*Set the auto optimize frequency to 5 minutes or half hour (5 is best) (this option shows the interval)
*And from the filter setting choose "low security". Now the setting of this app finished let's go on with next app.
We now use rom toolbox for setting our kernel,
*Open app and under permonce setting choose "cpu control" here u will see cpu sliders and profiles
*From the profiles( i attached #5 my profiles photo). you must set the profiles as i set but just the priority beause my kernel and your kernel is not the same and the profiles are depends on you.
(HEY I9003 USERS YOU CAN JUST COPY IT, BECAUSE OUR KERNEL IS THE SAME MAYBE PARTIALLY)
My advice is choosing scren of profile to the lowest value.
And now the last app "go power master" for screen,radio, wifi and all the others.
*Open app and go setings >check "auto start when boots up".
*Go mode and choose "general save" profile(you can see what the profile include from the attachment #7 and #8)
*Then go "smart" > "switch mode by power" > set it "on" 20. save and go back.
*And again "smart" > "switch mode by time" >time is depends on you but you must choose the profile as "long standby" (which turns of all connection and put the phone in flight mode).this mode will return your previous profile after your interval.
YES, AND NOW WE FINISHED THE SETTING OUR BATTERY TO THE BEST CONDITION.
ENJOY WİTH YOUR BATTERY

My battery usually lasts a day and a half. And maybe less than a day with heavy internet surfing and games.

my battery was dead and ı was charging it twice a day but now i am using it a day and with 3 hours wifi open, 2 hours 3g and maybe about 1hour 2g and about 1 hour talking on phone and still have 20% battery(i have changed my kernel setting like as i show in attachment).

Just what i needed btw how did you get percentage on your battery? app or what?

İt is coming with my custom rom mean i didnt do anything but if you use "icon changer" in "rom toolbox" you can change the battery icon but be careful and back up your original now you will ask how? Dont wory icon changer will ask your whether you want or not. This may not work with all devices. BE CAREFUL

In my little experience, there is no software that makes alot of diference, normaly what i do is:
disable motion
insert *#9900# and disable Fast dormacy - check is your network needs this
disable sync for accounts
disable GPS
disable wifi gps
disable wifi when not using
set brightness level to auto
set wifi sleep policy to when pluged in
Of course there are a couple more things you could do, and again this is what i do cant say it will work as good for you.

Juice Defender Ultimate + Battery Saver Pro (by Antutu).

I tryed a few battery saver apps but no longer use them as i found if i turn auto sync off, change wifi sleep policy to never, untick network notification, and use task manger frequently to kill unused apps my battery lasts a lot longer. I also use easy task killer and set it to kill all apps every 30 mins. im using king cobra v1.1 for evo 3d gsm and the battery life is amazing!! just swapping battery's over now and its nearly 9pm!!
If any one needs any help rooting or unrooting the evo 3d gsm hboot 1.4.9.0018 let me know as i have done it a few times now. I unrooted my phone back to ***locked*** s-on with no traces of rooting, then checked for ota updates, wouldnt of installed them tho even if there was one!! then downgraded back too 1.4.9.0007 and rooted it again with revolutionary.

forgot to mention auto brightness is a must. and i also calibrate battery after installing roms . can anyone please tell me if calibrating the battery every time it gets to 100% is good or bad? thanks.

When you use an xperia mini pro like me, with just 970 mAh, you get to try all possible battery savers... and unfortunetly no one of them makes the exception... actually as said evilchild, they don't make difference...
just disable everything that may drain your battery, your launcher effects too can be in cause, get rid of unuseful apps, put your brightness to lowest levels or just get it to auto if your rom use it... choose the best profile for your CPU... and with this you are good for 10 new hours in your daily battery life.

But, 2x Battery is good. It could disable Wifi or mobile data while the display is off.

one touch battery saver is awesome. create a widget to enable/disable wifi,gps,sync,brightness,bt,data ect with one touch!. free on google play

Yeah. There's a thread somewhere which gives real battery saving tips

I tried some apps, but I didn't found one which really improved the battery.
In my opinion the best method is to reduce the brightness.

From the apps I tried out and used, almost all of them just disabled certain things, or tweaked settings that I could have done on my own, and eventually did do.
I found it easier to just go on a sub forum for the phone I had at the time and look up tweaks, tips etc.. I'd say doing this helped me more than any app I found previously, and was easy to do.

Dolphin companion is good and gives more remaining of time.

I use juice defender and the setting: "Only 2G"
3G takes a lot of battery..

None. There are no working saving battery apps, not a single one.
What a battery saving application can do is to change the phone configuration to a lower energy one, just like lowing brightness, disabling data packages and such, to sum up, things you can do by yourself and you'll save the battery that that application consumes.
The best way to save battery is to make a proper use of your phone:
-Disable gps when you don't need it.
-Turn off bluetooth when not needed.
-Keep screen brightness low at all time.
-Disable data packages before going to sleep and enable them again when you wake up.
-Keep your phone clean by periodically uninstalling apps that you don't use anymore and that make unnecesary use of memory, cpu and battery energy.
-Check your battery use statistics and keep an eye on applications that are using energy unefficiently, and replace them with better alternatives. Facebook and facebook messenger are clear examples.
-Some people say that connecting to 2G networks instead of 3G helps as well.
-Activate wifi at home, it seems to eat less battery than connected to 3G.
There are more tips out there, just gogle it and make a responsible use of your phone. Keeping phone clean and lowing brightness will probably make the biggest difference.
Moreover, if android S.O. is on the top of the list of battery use, your phone's software entered a weird condition. Reboot it and if it persist, consider a factory reset.

I just started evaluating Juice Defender Ultimate to see if it can save battery life, but there are many options that I don't fully understand. I have attached a screenshot of the Notificatin pulldown window from my Galaxy Nexus which shows the JD status. There are 9 objects just to the right of the JD shield. They include 3 icons, 3 colored circles and 3 lines of text. Can anyone explain what each of them mean? I have checked the JD online info, without luck.
My best guess is:
the up/down icon represents mobile data
the red circle next to the up/down icon means mobile data is disabled
the radiation icon represents WiFi
the green circle next to the radiation icon means WiFi is enabled
the 3G icon represents 3g mode
the red circle next to the 3g icon means 3g is disabled and 2g is enabled
As mentioned, these are just my best guesses. I have no idea what the 3 lines of text mean?

What causes my bad battery life?

Hi, I'm worried about my bad battery life. Any ideas what it causes or how to improve?
I'm on latest Carbon Rom (Android 4.4.2), Now activated, Hotword detection off.

I don't get it. You have 1 day 9 hour usage and 1 hour 42 screen time. Your screen time is low but your usage is quite a while, better than mine. Could be bad signal, you have 1 bar in all the screenshots posted. Try turning off sync or mobile data when not in use.

It's a combination of poor signal and gps settings.
Switch location mode to Device only and get us an overnight BBS log.

System UI is unusually high. I can only assume this is customized UI elements draining the battery. Google services are 2nd on your list so locations and auto syncs, among other things.
When you're getting normal battery life Screen should be at the top. Anything draining more than Screen you need to look into.

Actually, he charged the phone (look at the first picture above the number 26 ) and as result, it was less than 1 day, 9h.

I see systemui is at the top of the list in all your screens. Are you using "pocket mode" or lockscreen notifications? I had the same issue on Mahdi rom and it went away when i disabled "pocket mode"
Are you running a custom kernel?
Some general battery saving tips are :
-Lower your brightness (i have mine set at 20%)
-Download "Wakelock Detector" and "Greenify" from playstore. These 2 apps will solve any wakelock problems.
-Turn Google Location Reporting and Location History off.
Sometimes a simple reboot does wonder for your phone.
Everybody has their own best combo of ROM + kernel so it will be up to you to find what works for you.
I'm currently running Mahdi's ROM + Elementalx and get 4 hours of screen time, 4 hours of music playback (from SD card) and 20+ hours of standby time

Hi, yes I'm using pocket mode. Too bad that it's drains this much battery! I love this feature

to me it looks as you having terrible wifi. and since you left the wifi on, your terrible signal drained the battery.

I'm also a big fan of the pocket mode feature and s2w/dt2w features because i hate reaching for the power button but it killed my battery.
What i can suggest to you is to try an app called Gravity Screen by one of our very own xda developer. Somehow, he managed to get the turn screen on/off via proximity sensor to barely drain any battery. I use this app combined with Dynamic Notifications and every time i take my phone out of my pocket, i get notifications like the Moto X and screen on without power button.

flash back to stock & change tamper flag, and get an exchange. I found out that the earlier models have some with batt and radio problems

Confirmed. Pocket Mode killed my battery, too. Since I deactivated it, my battery life is acceptable.

So I've been browsing for the past 2 hours on wifi and these are my stats.
Battery: 2200 mAh
SoC: Extremely Power Hungry MT6591
Brightness: Adequate

Now at 35%, the phone was being used pretty much constantly (chrome, a movie in mx player, imgur, 2 hours on whatsapp, light CoC)
Here are the results.

19%. And this is the max I could manage. Going to plugin now.

6. After activating battery profile, enter 'i' and enter '2' as the value.
7. Now you can press the 'X' on the top right hand corner to close the window.
GovTuner is now all setup.
You are pretty much ready now. Enjoy your extra SOT!!
I SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND USING AppOpsXposed, Greenify, Amplify and Powernap with this to get rid of the idle drain because in the end that too translate to a better SOT. :highfive: (The below results are obtained with the help of those applications too)
My phone which is an extremely battery hungry thing needs to be charged atleast 3 times a day to last from morning to night. With this I've managed to get away with just 1 charge for 14 hours (4-4.5 hours of SOT vs 1-2 hours).
Please do reply back with your experiences. I'm waiting for some happy faces. :fingers-crossed:

You can use AppOps from play store which doesn't need xposed. Alternatives to Powernap? Naptime works. Amplify doesn't have an alternative to my knowledge sorry

Hey, thanks for sharing this! Much needed​ for my phone htc desire 816 (a5dwg) running lineage 7.1.1 and at any rom, it is hungry. I mean literally I've purchased a new original 2600mAh battery for this reason. Still the problem persists. Today only, I've charged the phone to full and kept it on airplane and silent (took the phone to school ), and found that after 3 hours, battery is 20-25% reduced. I'm a little noob that's why I'm asking you that "what are the steps that should be followed / apps to be installed to maintain the battery like yours

Glad I can help. Something is keeping your phone awake all that time that its's not going to deep sleep. That's mostly Google to blame but let's start with the basics
Before that don't call yourself a noob. You got a custom ROM running, most people I know can't even do that.
To fix Idle Drain
First find if you have Idle drain.
Install Better Battery Stats and open it, grant root etc. Now plug the phone to the charger and hit refresh. Now unplug the charger, turn the screen off for a minute or so.
Now turn it on, you should see the device state. If it says Deep Sleep 0%, then the below things can help you.
Disable background Wi-Fi scanning.
Your phone scans for WiFi even when you turn it off. The steps below are based on my Lollipop 5.1, but I believe it's the same on 7.1 too.
Goto Settings -> Wifi -> The three buttons on the top right -> Advanced
There disable 'Network Notifications', 'Scanning Always Available' and 'Keep Wifi awake during sleep'.
Greenify
You must already be using this.
As a rule of thumb, greenify any app which requires an internet connection, those keep waking the system over and over again. Just make sure you don't add any core system apps.
If you have Facebook's app installed, remove it. It's the biggest battery hogging app ever happened (i don't agree that's made) in human history. Use it in chrome. Or any wrapper apps from Play store: Metal, Friendly are a few options.
If you have xposed installed,
Powernap
Set it to endurance mode and that's all. Whitelist amplify, greenify and lspeed. You can whitelist more apps later if you feel the need.
Amplify
This is a must in reducing wakelocks. Unfortunately I can't write the whole procedure here because it's been done before. Check this.

Still, every phone is unique. After following that thread, IF your device still isn't sleeping (after trying the below too), try blocking more wakelocks. Do a search if you are not sure of a particular wakelock. It will take some time, but it will be worth it.

Sorry, I've switched to stock to check battery capabilities but still problem persists
Battery droppes from 100 to 83 in 30-35 minutes

in govtuner change the gov to ondemand, i guess u use perfomance.

What can I do, I got a notification that L speed us eating my battery...but if optimized will not work as it should right?
Today update my Rom and got error. Not working because if use 3th party kernel ini.t emulator...but I'm not using one.

What ROM are you using?

Choosing battery profile from govtuner is the same as choosing it from Lspeed CPU menu, right? Or is there some significant change between the two?

But don't enable both of them at the same time.

After 1 whole month of tweaking with various functions of L Speed, finally found a combination to improve the battery even more.

Lightning Charge could speed up battery charging by set the CPU frequency to minimum value during charging. This could obviously improve the speed of charging but would also temporary decrease the performance of device.
#Application Hibernator :
If you have used app like Greenify before, you might have familiar with this feature. Yes, this feature prevent unused apps from running in background by using Android built in Force-Stop feature (am force-stop).
Service Stopper :
Service stopper is design to view and stop running service by using Android system built-in Force Stop feature, available in both root and non-root mode.
Smart Settings :
#Smart GPS :
When this feature is turned on, application would automatically turn off GPS when device's screen turned off, and turn it back on when device's screen is unlocked.
#Smart Cellular :

No, it does not require root access to run, but it will be more powerful and functional with root access
