Hello! I've been reading on these forums for almost over a month now about installing ROM's and would like to do so. I run into all kind of problems however.
I've read all kind of guides, watched youtube videos, and whatever else I could to try to get it to work. However, when I do install it, I always get the "the whole-file signature could not be verified" error. I've tried installing the iPhone 360 ROM, as that's the one I really want. Unsuccessful however.
I've installed ROM Manager, ROM Toolbox (both premium), SGS Kernel Flasher, Tegrak Kernel, and of course Titanium Backup. Still getting errors trying to install new ROM. I'd appreciate any help! Thanks!
(Also, the main reason I want to install a ROM is because every time my phone cuts on, I get a notice that says "com.android.phone has crashed, force close". I'm unable to fix it. Still get texts and phone calls, but can't use data.)
crazy question, but you ARE trying to install a ROM made for the Infuse right?
well part of your problem is iphone 360 rom is for the vibrant and it also sounds like you have stock recovery go here and read
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514886
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1293751
Well there's probably my first problem. I thought ROM's were made for droids, not specific phone models. Is there a specific ROM like the iPhone made for the infuse?
the one most like iphone is miui it is in dev section the iphone 360 is miui with a theme there are drawbacks with miui for the infuse it is a port so bluetooth audio does not work and hdmi does not work also droid is a phone made by motorola what you mean is android phones which is the operating system
So installing MIUI 1.12.23 on my Infuse should eliminate the signature problem?
no first you have to get a mod 3e recovery the easyist way to get that is to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
i would highly suggest you read the links i posted above before trying to install any custom roms you can soft brick your phone if you dont understand what you are doing
---------- Post added at 05:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:50 PM ----------
and this is the most current version of miui for the infuse
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506338
ok so I just wanted to fix my signal error
(Also, the main reason I want to install a ROM is because every time my phone cuts on, I get a notice that says "com.android.phone has crashed, force close". I'm unable to fix it. Still get texts and phone calls, but can't use data.)
what'd be the best way to do that one?
if your phone is under warenty still take it back to att but it is not hard to flash a rom just read those links they will walk you through it or you can try a factory reset
A thank you for your kindness, Jerry.
no problem i was once a noob on the infuse now i am a noob on the htc vivid qc i forgot about your thread you might want to direct him to it
Only I rooted my phone so now the warranty is voided. I've done the factory reset a gazillion times now probably with the wiping user data/cache and what not. I'll try flashing a ROM I suppose. Hopefully I can get it down. None of my screens ever seem to match the one seen in videos though.
Ok, I want to install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356011&highlight=ics+4+0
I understand what this is all talking about. Only, where's the file?
nvm, just have to install a new rom I suppose.
OK I have no idea what to do now. I installed this rom EXACTLY as it says to do!

Q!
Apologies if this has already been resolved, I did a search but did not find my exact problem.
I screwed up, I installed the ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092332 but I failed to install the GAPPS zip the first time.
So I tried to install it again with gapps but I keep getting a "Verification failed Installation aborted" message.
So then I downloaded the stock HTC ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804692 but I get the same error message.
Can somebody tell me how to either get this ROM to work with gapps or go back to stock? I need to learn to read the entire post before assuming every ROM installs the same.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for your time.
Download the correct gapps package and make sure the download is corrupted.
EDIT: isn't, lol fail
Thanks. I was not able to find a gapps package that worked. I dl'ed a signed version successfully but I couldn't get past the setup screen. It just was not working.
So I went with CM7 instead and I actually like it a lot better. I've got my Google apps and everything's running smooth. Yay for ROMs.
CM7 is very sexy... runs on my Wildfire S but the WIFI is broken on my specific model right now *sadface*
I think your problems lead you in a better direction at least!
Alright, so here goes. I've searched the thread for the issue I'm having, but have come up empty handed. I'm not Droid noob, especially not when it comes to flashing roms. But, here are the details I have.
I had been following dragonzkiller's development on his ICS rom. I hadn't really put forth any effort looking lately until yesterday, and saw that he had the wifi and camera fixed, which were really my two biggest issues, so when I saw that, I was excited. I began working on getting it all running. I've had the x2 for about 5 months or so, and usually, the first thing I do, as soon as I get a new phone, is root it. Back in April, I rooted with GingerBreak. Worked good, no issues there. Back in June, apparently I still received the OTA update taking it to 2.3.5-418, which I found out last night had kinda broken my root. So, I went back to find a way to re-root. I did that, with a desktop .exe that went in, and was supposed to flash BSR to my phone also. After I ran that, all my root permissions started asking for options again, so I was relieved. Now, for the issues I'm having.
I downloaded an app in the play store called Online Nandroid Backup. For some reason, and I think this may be a dev issue with the app, it won't run a backup, and tells me that it wasn't able to be granted superuser permissions, even though it is prompting and I'm allowing. Issue number two is this. I've tried 3 different ways to get this working. I used ROM Toolbox Lite, selected the rom I wanted to flash, and wipe data and cache, no delvik. I've selected to run a backup of my current rom. When it boots into recovery, I only have 4 options. Reboot your phone, something about installing the rom from sdcard, wipe data, and wipe cache. I'm not given the backup option on the recovery. Furthermore, when I kinda just decided that since I hadn't had any trouble flashing a rom to any of my other phones I've had, I would just try to flash the rom, it gives me a prompt about 25% through the rom package saying E: signature could not be verified, or something to that extent.
Even though it has said not to use Rom Manager, I did download that and try that, and got pretty much the same outcome of no rom, just a bit different scenario going through. Rom Manager won't reboot into recovery, and when I select to do a backup, it reboots the phone straight up. I also used the manual entrance into recovery, volume up, but it tells me something about starting RSD protocol, and sticks at that forever.
My real questions are this... I've always ever used CWM. All of my previous phones have been supported by Rom Manager nicely, so when it came to downloading and flashing a rom on them, no problems at all. I have never used BSR, to my knowledge, so I'm not sure if the recovery screen I'm seeing is the actual BSR recovery, or if it's some other recovery. If it's not BSR, do I just flash it like I would a rom, then re-run into that? And does the signature issue that I'm running into mean that I have to wait for a signed version of the rom in order to work it? Is there any way to fix this issue, or am I basically SOL right this moment? Any information on how I can fix all of this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Just a quick heads up to everyone, I was able to fix my issue by SWITCHING TO A NEW SDCARD, I had been using a 64GB SDCARD and I switched to a 2GB SDCARD and I guess that my recovery or my phone couldn't handle such a large card.
It took me about two days to come to this conclusion but after lots of ODIN and reflashing just about everything possible I've decided this was the issue. Also I ran up my flash count a hell of a lot. I hope this helps someone out who may have issues like mine!
Hey all,
Today I decided I would try out a new ROM on my SGS3 so I decided to install the MIUIv5 ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232800
Normally ROM installations go quite smooth for me so I opened up TWRP v2.5.0.0 and I did as I usually do by making a backup and wiping my system and then going to install my ROM. Instead today I got tons of errors saying:
Code:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /external_sd/MIUI5_d2vzw_3.4.12.420-signed (1).zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
So, I downloaded the ROM again, but this time from the mirror just in case I had a bad .zip or it didn't transfer to my SDCARD correctly, but then I started getting more and more errors.
Instead of getting a bad zip error I got the following:
Code:
E:Mount: Unable to find partition for path '/'
I guess this means it can't find my root partition?
Now all of a sudden I can't find my backups and I am just stuck without a ROM and I only have a recovery... quite inconvenient, also I can't flash any ROMS as I tried flashing some others but they didn't work at all no matter what I did and I am just running in circles... any help is GREAT APPRECIATED as I would love to have a functional phone by tomorrow.
I am fairly fluent with android and linux systems as well as computers in general so I should be able to provide any helpers with almost all information needed relative to my device, but sadly this whole issue has really stumped me.
Thanks so much!

Have you tried flashing with Odin?
I know a lot of people swear by twrp but for me I always seemed to have issues. I had a similar issue you are having when I finally flashed cwm again. I was able to fix my issue by odin.

Thanks for both of your replies, I decided just to revert back to stock and I am in the process of re-obtaining root and such and then I am going to try to flash again just using recovery... by flashing by odin do you mean flashing a ROM or flashing back to stock?

I'm using TWRP 2.8.1.0 and I tried flashing the latest nightly as well as the stable version. I verified the MD5 signature after copying the .zip to my SD card. I also did a full wipe with TWRP.
My phone is the i727R with Gingerbread 2.3.5. Do I need to update to the latest official 4.x firmware from Rogers before I try to flash with AOSPA?
Any other suggestions or hints? This is my first time trying to flash a custom ROM, so I'm probably doing something wrong.
Figured it out, didn't have the latest radio installed. Might want to add that to the instructions for noobs like me. It's easy to overlook because the note regarding the firmware is under the "contributors" heading, separate from the basic instructions.

Camera is not working for me, but everything else is fine. And pretty darn smooth!
Issue installing
I am attempting to install this using CWM and the installation of the ROM goes perfectly but then when I go to install the GApps, I keep getting the insufficient space error. I have tried Mini, Micro and Nano as well as reformatted the internal memory. Thoughts? Sorry for the ignorant post.

To be clear, I am talking about the 5.0.2 ROM not the 4.4.4 ROM. The 5.0 thread would not let me post there and redirected me here for some reason.

I'm not sure if CWM is compatible with the GApps. I recommend using TWRP instead.
But I have used CWM for GApps for all my ROMs so far and it hasn't been an issue. Why would this be different. My understanding is that it is just a space issue so I am wanting to know if there is a way to get this space issue resolved when even the smallest GApps was still too large (supposedly).

Why did this rom install cyanogen recovery, this recovery sucks and I cant get to any of my backed up roms because it doesnt give me an option, how the hell do I get back to philz?
Trouble updating
I installed the 1/16/2015 version (PA 5.02) plus nano gapps. Most things seemed to work well, and I like the look and feel, but two or three times I have experienced periods where the battery drains even though connected to a charger. This morning, for example, the phone had been on the charger all night and was fully charged. Without disconnecting it from the charger, I checked my email and then put the phone back down. An hour or so later, the battery showed low 90's percent, even though it showed that it still was plugged in.
Yesterday I tried to update to the 2/2/2015 version. After making a backup with TWRP, I installed the 2/2 zip. I have flashed several ROMS, so I am not a complete noob, but I have never done a zip upgrade without factory reset. The upgrade seemed to succeed, but after booting, I had no gapps and my google accounts were missing. I then tried reflashing the same gapps and the systemUI fix. That got my apps back, more or less, but my google accounts still were missing and my home screen layouts all were lost. I then reverted to my pre-upgrade nandroid backup and tried again, by installing the 2/2 ROM upgrade zip, the gapps, and the systemUI fix all without rebooting in between. As before, after rebooting, my home screens were gone and (I think) my google accounts were gone. (By the way, I use the Google Launcher.)
Is upgrading from the 1/16 to 2/2 supposed to require reinstallation of gapps and adding back of accounts, home screen setups, etc? If it is then such an upgrade is almost as much hassle as a complete, clean install. Can someone tell me how this is supposed to work?
I installed the Lollipop rom (and the UI patch) and am still having "Can't connect to camera" issues. occasionally, rebooting the phone helps, but then if I do something like switch from the back camera to the front, it will stop working again.

There are issues with the gapps backup script, so the gapps package should be flashed with every ROM update. The loss of gapps most likely caused your accounts and home screen to be removed.

This should only happen when using the front facing camera. This will be fixed next update.
Bummer
Losing home screens and accounts every time an update is flashed is a bummer. Putting everything back (accounts, home screens, Power Toggles settings, ...) makes me hesitate to try an update very often.
You say the problem is with gapps. Does this same problem occur with all flavors of ROMs and all flavors of gapps? I ask because my previous experience with installing ROMs has been installation of new ROMs, not updates to one already installed.
Incorrect information in battery monitor - PA 5
I've been using (and generally liking) the PA 5 for several weeks. I have noted, however, that the breakdown of battery usage, as reported by the OS, seems inaccurate. As just one example, yesterday, I started a 15-minute call shortly after unplugging my phone from the charger, with a full battery. At the end of the call, I was down to about 90% battery. That seems reasonable to me, based on past experience. The battery monitor said almost all of my battery consumption was for Cell Standby, though, with only a little consumption assigned to actual phone use. I've seen some other examples where the usage breakdown did not seem right, although I did not document them and do not recall exact details.
Am I correct that this is incorrect behavior? Are others experiencing this (or does anyone pay attention to it), either on this ROM or on other ROMs?

Sweep2wake feature
Sir, I have problem with Sweep2wake features. when enabled, after i locked my device. the screen wakes when i press either one of the dedicated buttons. even when i enabled the first & last button to wake. hope you can fix this issue. thank you & more power.
So I noticed there's no official thread for this tablet. I went ahead a decided to try and get a thread going for this tablet only. I am strongly considering porting a Rom and possibly a recovery pending requests from users on xda for the device.
To ROOT the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 p310a
1. Make sure Unknown sources is checked in Settings > Security > Device administration > Unknown Sources
2. You head over to alephzain's ROOT thread and download the framaroot 1.9.3 apk
LINK To Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276
3. Follow the directions on alephzain's thread. Move the apk to the SD card and install the apk.
4. The apk will then run after clicking "install"
If successful, your OneTouch Pop 7 p310a will now be rooted after a reboot.
To test, after reboot you should see superuser in the list of installed applications.
Also you can download 'root checker' from Google play to verify.

Hi, thanks for this.
Will a memory swap mod, to make the tablet see the external SD Memory as the internal storage, work with the P310A?
Searched and found this for another Alcatel device:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284347&page=39
Is something like this already available for the tablet?
Will be a big improvement if this can be ported to the P310A, and then have a 32Gb or even a 64 Gb memory card be seen as the internal storage.
Thanks.
I have one of these little tablets from T-Mobile (gotta love free) and love it. Last night I got an update warning but have not installed it yet. Unfortunately there is very little information for them like custom ROMs or custom recovery. I would even like to find the software and files needed to return the device back to stock if there was ever a problem and it needed to be reflashed back to out of the box state. Let me know if I can help as I would love to see more for this awesome little device.
Btw, interesting fact about T-Mobile 4G on these tablets. The base is 10 USD for 1gb of 4G a month. All T-Mobile tablets also come with free 200mb 4G a month one top of that. If you have the highest plan at T-Mobile (80 USD a month, unlimited everything including 4g, no drop back to 3g at all) then the tablet actually gets 5gb a month of 4G for the 10 USD instead of 1gb.
..
Just installed the latest update from T-Mobile for the p310a and framaroot 1.93 no longer roots it. Damn.
Try this :wwwDOTmgyunDOTcom/m/en
It rooted my tablet and 2 others. It will install a "kinguser" superuser app. Download clockworks superuser from the play store.
Then disable kinguser and allow clockworks superuser to do its job.

Can you please share what is on the update?
Find out the update is still on 4.2.
According to the Tmo support site is to improve battery, camera flicker and freezing.
That is about all I see in the update. The version is still the same and I have not seen any real difference personally. Kind of wish I hadn't updated.
Btw, thanks for the recommendation. I am rooted again, woohoo.

Well, I am rooted but the only SU that will work is the installed KingUser, no others will work for me.
I have the same tablet, but the P310X, not the P310A variant. Is it safe to flash the CWM recovery? I tried booting into this recovery without flashing by the fastboot flash command, but nothing happens after the transfer, the device won't boot into the new recovery.
After a little searching, it seems to me the two varians only differ in the supported cellular networks and frequencies.
Ok so I rooted this device with kingo at first. I kept have su binary issues. I installed cwm and tried to update su binary through there. I tried booting into recovery using quick boot. My tablet is stuck on tmo screen. Hard reseting takes me back to cwm but I have no backup yet , had no time to even make one. Does anyone have one by chance or a way for me to boot back up through cwm?
Recovery flashed successfully and looks great but, no partitions will mount and I cannot flash any .zips. Anyone else having issues?
I flashed the recovery but when I backed up my data and started getting "unfortunately settings has stopped" error
I did all alternatives and was forced to wipe it clean. But when I tried to restore it kept saying MS5 is not found.
So I am screwed now cause although it did clean it, the settings issue is still there and it will not let me open the wifi /buletooth settings/
keeps crashing and sometimes reboots. So I just want to revert back to the original factory firmware.
Does anyone have the original firmware??
Possible lollipop rom?

If successful, your OneTouch Pop 7 p310a will now be rooted after a reboot.
To test, after reboot you should see superuser in the list of installed applications.
Also you can download 'root checker' from Google play to verify.

Crying on the inside
SO, i did the absolute unthinkable of unthinkable actions. i attempted to flash what was purported to be a POP 7 MIUI port, and the damn thing crashed on me. To make matters worse, the backup with CWM failed when attempting to back up /system. Anyone manage to get it to work?

I flashed the recovery but when I backed up my data and started getting "unfortunately settings has stopped" error
I did all alternatives and was forced to wipe it clean. But when I tried to restore it kept saying MS5 is not found.
So I am screwed now cause although it did clean it, the settings issue is still there and it will not let me open the wifi /buletooth settings/
keeps crashing and sometimes reboots. So I just want to revert back to the original factory firmware.
Does anyone have the original firmware??
