Flashing stock recovery - T-Mobile LG G2x

I'm using Eaglesblood, and by following these directions, this will get rid of NVFlash right? Does having NVFlash mean im rooted?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Is their anything else I need to do to get my phone back to stock? Unroot?

Did you successfully unroot your phone back to stock? Why do you want to unroot your G2x?

How to remove Clockworkmod? I've already unrooted

Hi. I'm trying to return the G2x and I'm trying to get a replacement. I had serious problems with random rebooting. I've already installed the factory rom and used superoneclick to unroot the phone. I no longer have super user. However, when I pressed the power and vol down button, it still takes me to clockworkmod recovery.
How do i go about restoring the stock recovery?

Is there a link to this? Or is it a part of the superoneclick?
The reason why I need to make sure it's unrooted because I purchased the phone from Wirefly. I don't know how detailed they are. If it was just to a T-mobile store, then I wouldn't care too much about the cwm.

[Q] NVFlash on UN-rooted 2.3.3?

Hi all.
Recently used the LG software to update to the 2.3.3 GB release.
Like we all know, I lost my root.
I found a stock rooted 2.3.3 ROM that I want to use so that I can be rooted again.
Can I "Re-flash" the NVFlash on my non-rooted device?
Will it work to let me flash this new ROM? I've attempted to put NVFlash back onto my device, and it appears that it was successful. I'm nervous about trying to power-down and boot into CWM via NV. Can anyone confirm that this works?

That's how I rooted my G2x after ths update. Just make sure you can boot into recovery then backup, wipe data and install it normally. I was concerned about doing it too, but it worked perfectly normal. I used the 2.3.3 rooted rom. You can find it in the G2x development forum.
Let me know if you any questions.

Hey Donatello,
So, did you use the LG software first, and THEN NVFlash a new ROM?
Or did you just flash a 2.3.3 ROM in the first place?
I'm about to attempt the FIRST of those two. Am I understanding correct that is also what you did?
quick Q but nvflash now roots the device? but no SU is on it, i guess just download that from the market and we're done???
If this is the case I'm so happy cause superoneclick is very buggy to me!

You certainly can, in fact that's one of reccomended steps in getting root back is just reflashing cmw.

That's good, at this point you can safely put any pre-rooted rom you want including the pre-rooted GB 2.3.3 one from xboarders

What method are you using... and are you being impatient?
And what have you done so far... if you want help you need to provide details.
i am trying to reflash a rom or get into CWM. i press the up+down & power button and it just stays at the screen. but i can get into download mode though
i have flashed multiple roms already and my phone was already rooted before. i wanted to get back to stock and i restored from backup and thats when this happened. so im kinda of lost when u say "what method"...sorry!
You restored from back up... what ROM/Kernel were you on when you made the back up? And what ROM/Kernel were you on when you tried to restore?
Add: You were trying to root in your first post and now you are flashing... that is why I was asking what method. CWM/ODIN/Heimdall....
i was on the stock everything when i made the backup, that was before i flashed my first rom. and i was on the "{rom}Cwm-GB-2.3.6-Octane-V3.0 XPLOD NO CIQ EDITION 12-10-11 now with power menu mod" when i tired to restore. i use the CWM on my first flashed of rom.

Stock GB? Stock GB doesn't have CWM to make a nandroid back up. How did you make the back up?
If your phone will turn on, regardless on it's state, you can more than likely flash stock through ODIN or Heimdall. I read most people have problems restoring nandroid backups.
ROM-ODIN-2.3.6-Gingerbread Offical
The KJ6 Heimdall One-Click Collection
i was on stock "everything" when i did the backup and when i was on "{rom}Cwm-GB-2.3.6-Octane-V3.0 XPLOD NO CIQ EDITION 12-10-11 now with power menu mod" when i tried to restore. i flashed my first rom with CWM.
Ok... I guess. You were on Stock everything and had CWM?
Use ODIN or Heimdall and flash back to stock.
i did the backup from CWM. i was already rooted when i did the backup, i just didnt have a custom rom at the time. what is the best method? heimdall or odin?

I guess what I am trying to tell you is... if you had CWM you could not have been on stock everything. CWM comes with a custom kernel you flashed. That is the only way to have CWM. That is why I was trying to determine what CWM you were in. Because nandroid backups/restores are not compatible with in different versions of CWM.
You are in a bootloop.
I use ODIN. Others use Heimdall. I prefer ODIN. Others say Heimdall is easy. If you have used either before, use the one you already have on your machine. If you haven't used either before, read how to use both and pick the one you think you can do without messing up your phone.
Here is thread about kernels and CWM and the very last post says it all.
okay. thanks man. i appreciate it

[Q] OTA ICS Update fails

I am rooted with stock ROM and had CWM installed. I removed CWM following the directions here and am back to a stock recovery. I have set "temporary un-root" with Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. I get the download, it verifies the file, starts the upgrade and goes about 25% into it and I get the triangle with exclamation point. I power off, power on and it says the upgrade failed and it is going back to the previous configuration. It does, and everything is just as I left it. It starts the download again and we repeat. Any ideas? TIA for your help.
David
I don't know. But if you are able to get cwm back...there are rooted ics roms already that you can flash with cwm. I'm sure you are aware of the existing Roms tho.

Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22905630&postcount=3
So I guess the above doesnt apply to me.
Mine is failing.
Stock rom, rooted. that's all.
same thing though. 25%, then triangle. Tried twice now. Time to unroot?
Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...30&postcount=3
I did that first, the stock recovery starts but fails. I hate to try to unroot, but I'm wondering if having Voodoo root protection is what is causing it to fail.

I saw that vipermod is working for root, kinda. So we may be in luck. I'm gonna try and remove root now so we can get this to update.
Wish me luck. (after I use Asus back up)

When you guys say 'stock ROM', are you on the LATEST stock ROM? 8.6.5.21? I think you will have problems coming from any other firmware version.
So has anyone tried successfully to re-root after going back to stock and removing root to install this update?

I'm on build number 8.6.5.21 and its still not working, though i'm about to try to "update" it to the latest firmware again...
then try to do ICS again. It apparently worked for someone else.

yes, 8.6.5.21-20111216. it starts downloading as soon as i get a connection after a failed attempt. It doesn't seem to hurt anything to try, so I'll keep going after it....
Thanks for the ideas!
I've figured out why some people (including myself) failed to upgrade.
There are 2 stock recoveries out there. Only 1 stock recovery will work with this ICS update. The other one will not.
The stock recovery that will work is the one with the android and clock wheels animation. The stock recovery without the animation will not work.
I've successfully updated to ICS the long way.
Does anyone have a link to the stock recovery with animation wheels rotating?

Not entirely correct. I see the android and gears turning, then it fails.

[Q] Custom Kernal Flashing back to Stock?

Im following the guide in the development section in regard to flashing back to stock. However Im running both custom rom and a custom kernal. Is there anything special I have to do with regards to the kernal or will flashing the stock image in odin do everything I need it to do to run the "stock rom"?
Thank you.
Problem Solved. Following the instructions found in the Development Section (Section 6) by DroidStyle will flash you back to stock regardless or what kernals, modems, or roms you have flashed onto the phone.
Thanks to Slim and Droid for answering my question.
There is something else you need to do. If you're following DroidStyle's guide then he states everything you need to do to return to stock in section 6 of his guide.

Yep thats the one Im going by. It doesnt mention any caveats in regard to somone who is running a custom kernel. Just one at the top if you want to relock the bootloader, which I dont want to do.
I just want the stock image on the phone while retaining root and an unlocked bootloader.

I believe the title states "Using Odin to flash back to Stock from any rom/ recover from a soft brick, so yea your covered :good:
There are no caveats mentioned because there is no need...flashing back to stock replaces the rom and boot.img all back to stock, so follow the guide and your good to go.

=) Thanks and sorry I just wasnt sure if the custom kernal was a seperate element from the custom rom. I installed it seperately so I just wanted to make sure that using odin to flash the stock image would cover both bases.
Again sorry if I butchered the verbage, some of the techincal details are beyond me.
