(Q) how to move zip file to Root directory - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I've tried with esExplorer & free version of root explorer & root browser... I can find the zip I want to move & copy it, but can't figure out how to paste it?
Thanks

Personally, I use the root explorer that comes with rom toolbox. There, once you copy, an option to paste will appear at the bottom. Just need to selec the directory and tap "paste"

Thanks.
Thing is I can copy and paste in esExplorer, but for the life of me I don't seem to be able to find the Root with esExplorer... But with root explorer I can find the zip, copy the zip, find root... But it won't let me paste with the free version...

In es, go into settings and check the box that says "up to root". Now, hitting "up" on the main screen will take you to root instead of exiting.

-> Download apk from attachment (into your android device preferably)
-> Make sure you've checked "Install from unknown sources" option in your Settings
-> Use your file browser of choice and select the apk file
-> File manager will install the G-Music app
-> Profit
Exactly what i did but it still says application not installed. ?

If you are rooted, installed 'Titanium Backup' (i use free) and 'Wipe Data' & 'Uninstall' old version, i had the one from Honeycomb, then simply installed this one, seems to work fine.
i think ...
... the proper way is use some kind of file manager that have read/write permissions like root explorer app.
just push it to ROOT/system/app
correct me if i am wrong?
I have installed it. But does not show my cloud music, instead asks for connect usb, no option of cloud related thing in setting. Is it bcz I m on gingerbread.

Okaay, I uploaded the res folder after decompiling apk, i think you'll need to edit \res\values\strings.xml file, open it with notepad++ (yes, it's necassary) & there's a line like this:
Code:
<string name="app_name">ES File Explorer</string>
Not sure if it will work, just edit the "ES File Explorer" to how you want it.. Then u can send your edited strings.xml & i'll compile & see if it's changed

S-Style Digital Clock Widget MOD

Hey some may have this already as I've been packaging it with previous work.
It's as close as I cold get to the new Xperia Digital Clock Widget using various font combinations along with Red Wizard's DCW available from the market.
DO THIS:
1. Place apk in System app folder & set permissions.
2. Launch application and set settings according to screenshots.
3. Select widget from desktop.

Just in case you have any trouble achieving the info fonts from the screenshots I've also posted a zip file of my current font set from cm.
Should work w most ROMS, just extract and replace system font files as needed.

you tell me how to setting permission..?
Hey monk, first of all are you sure the app is not functioning properly already? There may be no need to mess with permissions depending on how you installed it. Otherwise to answer your question I'm hoping you have root access because it would be necessary to set permissions manually. I'm assuming you do and have dropped the app into the system/app folder with Root Explorer or equiv. If so and you did in fact use Root Explorer just navigate back to the root app (use Root Explorer to system/app/digitalclockwidget), long-press on the app then select "permissions" and check all three from the top down in the first column, only the top box in the second column then leave the last column fully unchecked(sorry I'm on vacation and do not have a way to post screenshot). Alternately you can use ROMManager and just select Fix Permissions to allow it to perform this task for you. The manual method is well worth learning though so I recommend trying that first. If you do not have Root Explorer you will need a file browser that allows root access. The version of Root Explorer that will allow root is paid but well worth the investment. It is an invaluable tool I use on a daily basis. There are others and if needed you could probably find something for free to get the job done, I recommend Root Explorer. Currently on vacation for another week week but I will try and check back to see if I can help further. Good Luck and let me know if this helps. earbrain

[Q] Anyway to get the Text/Missed Call bubbles back?

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After the jellybean update they disappeared and I used to use them all the time!
I'm running The Executioner 2.5 ROM, so a fix that requires root is alright.
Thank you!
Taken from one of the general posts : " If you want the Notification Bubble back just use Root Explorer (or any other File Manager program that allows R/W access) and goto System>CSC>customer.xml (rename this & then reboot) and you will get Notification Bubble back on the Lock Screen." GL!
To get the bubbles back just use a file manager app (I use root explorer), go to System->CS, and rename the file customer.xml. Reboot the phone, and your text message bubble will be back. I don't know if it works for missed calls, as I haven't had any since doing it.
Once you do this, you'll get the help message every time you have the bubble appear. It's annoying. Using Titanium Backup, freeze help, and it will go away.
Needless to say, you have to have root access to do any of this.
Thank you!
How exactly do I freeze help in TB?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Go into TB.
Go to the backup/restore tab. There will be a big list of files.
The name of the file isn't Help, but it is close. On my phone, it was the only file with Help in it. Tap on that file. A new window with buttons on the top will open. Tap the Freeze button. That's it.
I don't have my phone with me right now, so I am doing this from memory. Sorry for not knowing the exact name of the file to freeze.

Alright, thanks. I got the bubbles back but I can't find anything with help in it to freeze. If you get a chance, tell me what the name is.
EDIT: The closest I found was "Package Access Helper." Is that it?

Need help with /system r/w permission

Every Rom I install I cannot get permission to r/w to /system. The custom roms say they have support to write to /system but I can never successfully do that. I use ES File Explorer with root turned on. Any suggestions on what is going on. I always clean flash the roms when I install.

Are you making sure to mount /system as rw? Even with write protection disabled, it's still mounted as ro by default.
