Un-named ROM [RaverX3X] is the fastest! - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hey guys/gals. I have tried most of the ROM's listed in the SGS4G Bible. All of the developers are awesome. I installed the Un-named ROM RC2, Tegrak Free to OC to 1.3GHz AND Universal Adrenalin Shot V14. Using Quadrant Standard from Google Play, I received a Quad of 2474!!! I ran a Quad test again to verify accuracy and it came back 2480!!! BY FAR the fastest set up I have experienced with most of the other excellent ROM's returning a score of around 2025. GREAT JOB RaverX3X, as well as all of the AWESOME developers from Team ACID, Team Kang and so on!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT:
Since posting I have downloaded and installed SCOM v3.5. After a new install and a 30 minute soak, I obtained repeatable Quad scores in the 2750 range. I have tried various configs and cant seem to get higher. No complaints with those scores. Erik has done a great job with this ROM, has addressed issues quickly, and coupled with Raver moving on, I am sticking with SCOM.

welcome to the xda community.

valhalla black at 1.3 im averaging around 3100... im guessing it just depends on your exact set-up

I have used Val. Black Edition. I am a big fan of that ROM as well. My scores were MUCH lower than yours. I do agree, the exact setup makes a difference.

WiFi Calling Issues
I was using Un-named ROM and decided to add the AS 14-1, after flashing the
Blue WiFi calling icon turned Green and quality of Wifi calling went seriously south.
Can anyone tell me what the change in color of the WiFi calling icon indicates.
Anyone had a similar experience.
Thank you,

I think raver said the rom might not work with AS or any other tweak like that. That could explain the drop in wifi calling. I would wipe and reflash the rom. Dont install the tweaks.
I think people should start considering NOT installing these tweaks in the newer released roms. Im sure raver and the other cookers are building them into the rom. If not every part of it atleast the most important parts.

I had the best "performance" in MIUI, despite the lack of working ringtones and vibration. I don't rate performance based on a number given to you by quadrant. I rate it based on how smooth games run and how responsive the interface is. MIUI definitely rated highest there. Currently running untitled though because I got tired of missing calls from my managers\.

I just want to make sure that anyone and everyone that reads this thread understands that I am in NO WAY bagging ANY developer in any way. All of them do fantastic work....aside from the fact that it is more or less a hobby for them as well as not getting paid for it! I also want to reiterate that these were a "tangible rating" that anyone can test their own ROM and setup of choice. It is very hard to compare statements such as "smoothest" or "most fluid" or any other colorful word to explain your experiences. All in all, it was a way for me to express my findings. Leaving being impartial aside.....I prefer Team ACID work. In my OPINION, their ROMS work best for what I do with my device....But....you know what they say about opinions
All developers: Thank you very much for all of your hard work!!!!!!!

un-named
I am having an issue with this rom.It randomly reboots(ALOT) and sometimes it doesnt wake up so i either have to do a battery pull or hold power button.I've reinstalled this rom plenty of times and ive cleared and formated everything. I was reading the rom post and read something about omgpop app. And i have it too so i just removed it , and hope it'll stop the rebooting and wake lock.

Its related to wifi. Switch your router to channel 6 and that should help. I'm testing another fix that may help Atm. If my phone stays stable I'll post it tomorrow.

With the Valhalla Final and Universal Adrenaline shot v14.1, running at 1ghz i'm scorring 2230 in quadrant.
If i set it to 1.3ghz the best score i got is 2842. I runned the test 3 times @ 1.3ghz and the score was between 2700 and 2842. So, Valhalla Final i suppose is faster.

I'm loving Valhalla black its a great fast and smooth rom much love

Well SCOM V3 quads at 1.3 are hitting 3100+ using noop. That is as fast as MIUI. Pretty impressive.

Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium

No reboots or heat issues. Started to lag after fixing permissions. Trust me it's being looked into.

RaverX3X is very severe, a great god!!!!!

i was using unnamed but i kept getting random reboots so i switched to sweet child of mine i like it better but thats just me. unnamed was great except for the reboots

I just wanted to throw in that my highest quad on MIUI was 3774. OC'ed at 1.5gHz.

Is the sound quality of un-named any better then scom?

[KERNEL][GPL][ACS]Xtreme Kernel v1.2.0-Lucy-1.3GHz OC,Battery,Tweaked Voodoo(options)

ANDROID CREATIVE SYNDICATEpresentsXTREME KERNEL V1.2.0
First of all, I want to put my thank yous up here at the top, so, here they are:
-geniusdog254 - My primary teammate, been helping me every step of way.
-nullghost - One really cool dude. Always on when I ask for help. Git would still be a scary thing if not for him.
-rjmjr69 - Funny, funny dude. Keeps me motivated to keep going
-The Voodoo Team - Your work is awesome!
-My beta testers - You were/are all great. Thanks for helping me with this!
-All the devs across the board - Seriously, you're all a bunch of absolutely awesome people.
-Anyone I forgot - You're all great!
Now, here we go:
THE STANDARD DISCLAIMER
I, DevinXtreme, AM NOT responsible for what happens to your phone, your cat, your house, or anything relating to you! If your phone bricks, OH WELL. Have a nice day.
This kernel has a MixUp kernel base. DI18, blah blah. I deviated once Interactive got working. I also removed the Voodoo color modification. So, there's that.
It is built and designed for Syndicate ROM, which will be out later tonight. Sickest ROM you've ever seen. The version released with the ROM is slightly different, but only for fun's sake
Changelog:
v1.2.0
-Removed the 1.6GHz step. The time machine is gone. Plus, was causing more problems than it was helping.
-Added 1.3GHz step courtesy Herver
-Switched from MPLL to APLL. Smoothness and speed increase. Thanks to nullghost for help on this.
-Added Voodoo color mod, tweaked version, courtesy Herver. I will be maintaining a no-voodoo version. I just haven't yet.
-Tweaked the light sensor, adding a new step and made it not jump to the brightest setting as much. Should save battery and transition smoother. Also pols a little more often.
-Tweaked scaling rules for 1.3GHz. Should scale there less, thus saving battery.
ADDITION: The file ending in 'nv.zip' is a no-voodoo version. The file ending in 'ov.zip' is the version for the original voodoo mod, not the tweaked one.
v1.0.1
-Fixed scaling. Linpack scores and tests work fine now.
-Disabled Carrier IQ in init.rc. Carrier IQ is essentially Sprint spyware. Kernel devs: This is really easy to do. Just comment out the iqmsd lines at the end.
v1.0
-Overclock to 1.6GHz!! Requires SetCPU which is, for some reason, defaulting to performance. Make sure you change it to conservative.
-Default governor without SetCPU is conservative with 200MHz-1GHz steps.
-Removed Voodoo
-Framerate unlocked (78-80fps)
-Built for ROMs with a custom boot. Makes stock boot look like garbage. We're working (still) to fix this.
-Undervolted
KNOWN BUGS:
-In spare parts, if you set the WiFi policy to never sleep, it still sleeps with the screen off. -skandranon314
-Some weird vibration thing going on when 1.6GHz is hit.
NOTES:
Linpack is being strange with this. I'm getting between 9.2 and 9.8 with some REALLY strange numbers. I'll have this fixed this weekend.
SetCPU sets the default governor to performance. If you use it, be sure to change it immediately for battery life.
FOR 1.2
-I recommend 200MHz-1200MHz. Some phones can't reach 1.3GHz safely.
-200MHz - 800/1000MHz is a great setting for battery and you should still have a very smooth experience.
For those who care, I get 1135+ in quadrant.
You can read my source here.
Thanks, guys. I hope you enjoy!

Ok, good. I was worried for a sec
So would you recommend flashing the new one when it's up since you're tweaking it?
Hmm.. something's not right here. I just got 22 fps in Neocore with the removed kernel. What could I be doing wrong?
Edit: Switching from performance to conservative upped my results to 62 fps which is quite respectable.

what kind of voltage are you giving it to get 1.6 stable? based on what im reading, anything above 1.3/1.4 is pretty much unachievable on these devices and is not really the speed that the device is running thus the unscaled rise in benchmark scores. iv been following hero_over and he couldnt get a stable 1.4 OC although he did get 1.3ghz on stock volts stable..which keeps me wondering if we really can hit 1.6 stable

All of it is on my git. I release my source, as devs should with GPL. The problem is that the fsb isn't scaled properly, affecting the floating point processor, causing low Linpack scores. I'll have it worked out this weekend,

I highly recommend Calkulin+Clemsyn OC/UV kernel (1.5 ghz) rom

So, after people started reporting that their benchmarks are in the 3000's, I decided to flash from ginger RC1 and holy cow this is freakin' fast. Even before I ran the quadrant test everything felt so fast. Twice as fast as vegan gingerbread. I wanted to run the quadrant with all the apps and stuff that I'd be running (quickoffice, dolphin, etc.) and holy cow benchmark was still in the 3000's every time.
I ain't moving to any other rom until someone finds something faster.
Does the unit feel warm or hot ? The rated CPU clock speed is 1.2 (or 1.0, not sure). I am a bit concerned about overclocking to 1.5 at higher voltage. In addition, what apps that were slow and are needing this kind of power ?
Thanks
Sweet.. but honestly with out video drivers for gingerbread its utterly pointless for me :O( Keep us updated on how stable it is :O)

Since when did we "need" anything? The gtab will work just fine with the stock rom. But with a custom rom, it works better. The clakulin+clemsyn v3 combo works even better. I just like the raw power that it gives me.
Added by edit.
But to answer your questions, doesn't feel warm or hot to me at all. Battery life is undoubtedly reduced, although I'm still trying to determine by how much. Stand by for this.

I was concerned about heat and the case feels a bit warmer but not significantly. I guess we will see over time. I would say battery life is reduced but I don't have any numbers. The devs have included a nifty OC profile based on battery life. This is my new favorite rom.
This combo is crazy fast. I scored a 3521 on quadrant. I have been running it for 24 hrs now with no issues. Does not seem to be running hot at all. Battery life seems fine but Im sure it is using more juice.

Keep in mind that I've already installed apps like quickoffice and such. In other words, if I had ran this test right after I flashed this rom I'm sure the score would have been higher.

I am also using and loving this rom. Love the smooth video with Froyo (but wish it could work with Ginger).
It feels slightly warmer than before I think, but the temp sensor never reads above 87 degrees F, which has to be a safe operating temp, right?
Consistently getting ~3500 quadrants with many apps.

Listen to me very carefully. The devs are doing this on their own time without getting paid. Us lowly humans don't wish anything. Ok? Clemsyn said he was going to do ginger soon, and that's his choice. We don't wish anything. Ok? He's not obligated to do anything. What he's done for froyo is way way way beyond what he's suppose to do, which is nothing. Ok? He made it clear just last week that his intention was to return the gtab and move on with his life. He then decided to stick around and created new roms that are almost twice as fast as previous roms.
If you're disappointed, then Clemsyn could just drop the whole thing and leave. If you're disappointed, please go buy an ipad 2, ok?
In fact, I highly recommend against getting a gtab for most people. I promise, you will not be disappointed with the ipad 2. Love you long time. Go, put the disappointment of a device gtab up on ebay and go out and buy the ipad 2 now, please, before you get any more disappointed.

Thank you and others for posting scores.
Very fast. Always loved Calkulin's ROM, and I've come home after playing with Vegan GB for a while (also a great ROM). It also appears that the OC settings work with pershoot's OC kernel as well. I love the fact that it clocks based on battery life.
@goodintentions
Geez guy, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? It's not like he posted a long harrasing write up for Gingerbread. It was subtle just like you should be. Chill out please.
On that note does anyone have a video of this "Beast ROM" in action?
Wish I could get this combo running. I have been running C&C 1.1+v9 for awhile now and love it. I can't get any of the OC kernals running. The only way I can get this to boot is to install the C&C OC combo and before booting I have to install Clemsyn's v9 kernal. I can't get Pershoots 1.4 ghz kernel running either.
The best I have gotten was with the C&C combo and then installing Clemsyn's OC Extra kernal and I can get to the HC animated boot screen but it never gets past that. My son and I bought our gtabs the same day and his runs all the OC kernels.. Oh Well...

[Q] Best Kernel for battery life/stability

Hi I am flashing this phone for a friend and I come from the Samsung Captivate so its fairly similar. Only question I have and I hope someone can help without flaming me is which Kernel would you suggest? Im going with Infused 1.5.2 as the rom and I am just curious what pairs with that best? Thanks in advance.

if you're one of those "set it and forget it" types... i was incredibly pleased with the latest release of gtg's infusion 1.5.2 rom/kernel combo. very responsive, smooth and snappy. by far my favorite of all his releases to date for this phone.
if you're the type that likes to do a bit of fiddling for an ultimately rewarding end result, i recommend installing the above mentioned rom with bedwa's OC/UV kernel. i've had nothing but a smooth and stable experience with the two paired together. nothing but good things to say about both of these. having voodoo lagfix alone makes a huge difference. when you combine that with overclocking you get a device that feels much more awake and ready to perform. undervoltage allows you to use less battery power, even though the cpu is running at a higher frequency. really, makes a HUGE difference. cannot express how pleased i am with these two running together.
*i might also add that i've never installed any of the other roms. i have tried the defuse kernel with BLN was introduced(it has since been removed due to buggy issues).

Best thing about this phone is the games made for tegra. They are enhanced!
There isn't really a need to change kernal because this phone is fast as is. I tried it, oc'd it and never saw real time improvements. I actually underclock mine to 816mhz and it still plays all games the same.
This phone operates the best for me on Baldwin's kang cm7. Its fast and reliable. Either way you will want to use anything that uses the external sd card for app storage.

What I love the most about it is the stock build of the phone, the phone seems to respond faster when tapping on capacitive buttons then when I click them on my mytouch 4g slide which isnt stock like the g2x. I notice stock will always be faster then phones which have sense, touchwiz, and other crap of layer on top of android

G-ma's stock G2x. Updated software?
You mentioned the speed of the stock build. I am curious if GRANDMA has the recent software update. It's V21Y and brings the phone up to Gingerbread 2.3.4 (as opposed to 2.3.3 previously. My wife has been on it over a month now w/o rebooting. It's an awesome stock build! My G2x is rooted and running recent Cyanogenmod real well too. The stock is so good now that even I sometimes restore a rooted stock nandroid for ZERO bugginess!
Joining in the dredging of an old thread - I loaded V21y on both my and my wife's phone - both run slower with noticeably more lag than stock Froyo. But no dreaded Black Screen Of Death, which is what my wife hated (she is on call sometimes). So I guess I'm happy. Someday I should try a dev rom I guess... But I NEED WiFi calling and a2dp - not sure if I can get that in a dev rom...

wifi calling and a2dp work in almost all of the roms, even on the new baseband (except bluetooth calling, but streaming music works), just try one and find out. CM7 is the best place to start

Yea she got the update 2.3.4, the stock build is awesome fast, faster than the htc sense obviously but I still love the htc sense animations are just better on sense if sense could be just as fast as stock id loved it even more lol. Stock makes a big difference even the single core G2 is fast on stock faster than the mytouch even with 2 cores. I've done the test I tap the menu at the same time on the 3 phones and the mytouch is the slowest. However you do see the difference when not on the UI, for example on apps, the browser, and loading obviously the mytouch wins on that aspect 1.2 ghz dual core

theres still some minor issues with the 2.3.4 got one rare SOD and a few odd reboots. cm7 has none of the issues. guess thats the tradeoff for proper quality of calls and a working gps.
I downgraded my baseband back to the March 2011 firmware, loaded up Hell Fire Phoenix with Faux's stable kernel, running V6 SuperCharger, and a Team Carbon theme that I'm currently modifying to my specific likings.
This phone flies for me. Everything works and it looks great while doing it. I really don't see a need to get a new phone, unless I decide I want a larger screen.
I still hate LG, but hey...

I'm using the mytouch and my grandma won't be changing phones in a long while maybe untill her upgrade is due. And for me would be the same, I'm waiting for the quad core htc mytouch to come out.

CleanROM 2.1 or SynergyROM?

I was hoping to get some of your guys' input. SynergyROM's or CleanROM? Not just newest specific builds but ROM in general. I've been on Synergy since the day I have rooted by GS3 but read somewhere that it might not be as good as CleanROM but I can't find specific reason in the development section so I thought I'd post this here. I like Synergy and the kernel it comes with but I like to flash things in order to test so hopefully I could get some specifics.
Thanks
Well, I will say this...I was using SynergyRom Nightly v1.7 a few days ago and I since switched over to CleanRom 2.0/CleanKernel 1.0 and it was much smoother than Synergy!! I was experiencing alot of lag going between apps and homescreen. I just flashed CleanRom 2.1 and it just keeps getting better!! I would suggest to you to try CleanRom 2.1, and im pretty sure you will be pleased with this build.

I think I will flash it right now. I'm a flash-aholic but I generally try to stick with one "brand." I've read some great things about CleanROM so I think it's time to switch and check it out
I will say all of this with complete honesty. I started with Synergy and kept going with it through the nightlies.
Then came along Scott who used to dev for the Rezound which I had and ran his CleanROM on that phone.
Long story short, my vote is for CleanROM 2.1. By a decent margin actually. It's just smoother and faster. Not only is real world performance better, but benchmarks are better too.

Funny you say that about the Rezound...I just installed CleanRom Standard 4.5 on my wifes Rezound the other night because I couldnt get any other Rom to work on her phone and it runs great and momma is happy about here phone not being all "Bloated" up...lol... and it runs great!
Yep, Scott seems to be a very intellegent dev and out of all the roms ive used...CleanRom 2.1 is by far the best most smoothest and stable rom ive used.

Awesome! I've flashed it since and can't complain yet.... Transitions seem very smooth

Have you noticed any difference in battery life from Synergy to CleanROM? I've been on the Synergy nightlies up to now and am looking for a change...
These threads are pointless....
Flash them both and see which one you like!! Geez...lol.

For me, I have had much better battery life on the SynergyROM (Ziggy kernel) but now I'm trying out that 747 kernel...seems ok. I still have SynergyROM r55 saved and that was the best for battery for me. I use battery monitor widget and always look at the mA's that are being used up and the numbers staid low on r55. They staid much lower on the games I played and also in general. That app kind of gives me the best idea as far as consumption. Its great!
But the ROM itself seems a lot smoother with fewer FC's on things.

I'm on CleanROM 2.0 and it seems great. No problems whatsoever, and good enough battery life for me. I was on Synergy 1.4 before, that was fine too. But all of the nightlies seem fraught with problems creeping in, and I don't want to reflash a lot of times. What I really want is a ROM that is reliable, and will work with the APP2ExtSD hack, but none I've tried does it.

I don't think they are pointless at all. Just looking for some feedback. Replies like yours are pointless and do nothing for the thread. I have been curious too, and the thread gave me some insight.

Agreed. That's the point of these threads/forums is to ask questions and get input not just from the devs but also from the users and everybody's wealth of knowledge.
It's because of the input here that I have decided to give CleanROM a shot. Sure I could have flashed it and not noticed a difference but I wanted some concrete statements from the many users who could give me some facts about the differences in the ROMs. Anyway, both Dev's are brilliant...I wish I could somehow use the Kernel from Synergys r55 ROM on CleanROM...I'll have to see if there is a way to extract just the kernel from the r55 zip
My experience with synergy Rom wasn't pleasant. There is too much going on especially since it's in nightlies. Nit the best of battery life either. I've been following Scott's cleanrom and cleankernel. This combo has surpassed all my expectations. Great battery life and performance. Very stable and clean. If you want to get the most usage with the top performance install cleanrom. Cleankernel and leankernel are neck in neck for me. They both do as advertised. I just like cleankernel because it is made to be stable and save battery while delivering performance. I'm running at 1ghz and there is no lag.

1ghz ... damn...I have mine at 1.2 and also get amazing battery life....thanks for the input. The more and more I use it, the more I'm liking CleanROM!
I enjoyed Synergy! Everything I used on a day to day basis was running without any hiccups.

I am a noob at this stuff still and flashed Clean ROM 2.1 and CleanKernel 1.2 last night, which was my first ROM. I LOVE it compared to the stock Touchwiz OS. It's OH so smooth and zippy! I will probably stick with this rom for a good while! I installed the Nova launcher to try it out and like it as well. I REALLY like the fact that you can change the quick panel widget buttons!!! I am experiencing a small problem however, and wanted to see if anyone else was running into the same thing...
Using the stock alarm clock widget I set my music by choosing one of my music files, but every time I click on "choose file" it locks up and says that the clock has stopped working. It also happens when I try and choose a ringtone for a specific contact out of my music files. I have searched the clean rom thread and one other person was having the issue, but no one else was, so it never got addressed. And being new to the forum, I can't post on that thread yet.
Anyone else having this issue?

I think that's because u r on nova launcher, I also use it and that's only because I can change the pixel density so everything is much smaller ( I use an app called density changer its awesome when set to 240)but anyway go into the stock music player find a song click and hold on it and then you will have the option of selecting it as an alarm clock that has worked for me.
