I highly recommend Calkulin+Clemsyn OC/UV kernel (1.5 ghz) rom - G Tablet General

So, after people started reporting that their benchmarks are in the 3000's, I decided to flash from ginger RC1 and holy cow this is freakin' fast. Even before I ran the quadrant test everything felt so fast. Twice as fast as vegan gingerbread. I wanted to run the quadrant with all the apps and stuff that I'd be running (quickoffice, dolphin, etc.) and holy cow benchmark was still in the 3000's every time.
I ain't moving to any other rom until someone finds something faster.

Does the unit feel warm or hot ? The rated CPU clock speed is 1.2 (or 1.0, not sure). I am a bit concerned about overclocking to 1.5 at higher voltage. In addition, what apps that were slow and are needing this kind of power ?
Thanks

Sweet.. but honestly with out video drivers for gingerbread its utterly pointless for me :O( Keep us updated on how stable it is :O)

Since when did we "need" anything? The gtab will work just fine with the stock rom. But with a custom rom, it works better. The clakulin+clemsyn v3 combo works even better. I just like the raw power that it gives me.
Added by edit.
But to answer your questions, doesn't feel warm or hot to me at all. Battery life is undoubtedly reduced, although I'm still trying to determine by how much. Stand by for this.

I was concerned about heat and the case feels a bit warmer but not significantly. I guess we will see over time. I would say battery life is reduced but I don't have any numbers. The devs have included a nifty OC profile based on battery life. This is my new favorite rom.

This combo is crazy fast. I scored a 3521 on quadrant. I have been running it for 24 hrs now with no issues. Does not seem to be running hot at all. Battery life seems fine but Im sure it is using more juice.

Here. Nuff said.
Edit.
Keep in mind that I've already installed apps like quickoffice and such. In other words, if I had ran this test right after I flashed this rom I'm sure the score would have been higher.

Here you go: 4484, that beats 345 xooms even overclocked . Oh my.
Sorry about the resolution. I didn't know if I posted at full size if the picture would be huge or not.
Sent from my UPC300-2.2 using Tapatalk

How the flying pigs did you get it up to 4484?

Ok, so I ran it a few more times and it seemed a little sluggish as I had been putting it through its paces today . I shut it down and rebooted. I just ran it 3 times in a row. My lowest score after letting it sit for a bit was 4521, best of the 3 was 4665! Yikes.

I am also using and loving this rom. Love the smooth video with Froyo (but wish it could work with Ginger).
It feels slightly warmer than before I think, but the temp sensor never reads above 87 degrees F, which has to be a safe operating temp, right?
Consistently getting ~3500 quadrants with many apps.

Listen to me very carefully. The devs are doing this on their own time without getting paid. Us lowly humans don't wish anything. Ok? Clemsyn said he was going to do ginger soon, and that's his choice. We don't wish anything. Ok? He's not obligated to do anything. What he's done for froyo is way way way beyond what he's suppose to do, which is nothing. Ok? He made it clear just last week that his intention was to return the gtab and move on with his life. He then decided to stick around and created new roms that are almost twice as fast as previous roms.
If you're disappointed, then Clemsyn could just drop the whole thing and leave. If you're disappointed, please go buy an ipad 2, ok?
In fact, I highly recommend against getting a gtab for most people. I promise, you will not be disappointed with the ipad 2. Love you long time. Go, put the disappointment of a device gtab up on ebay and go out and buy the ipad 2 now, please, before you get any more disappointed.

Very nice. Xoom owners will hate you for sure.
Thank you and others for posting scores.

Very fast. Always loved Calkulin's ROM, and I've come home after playing with Vegan GB for a while (also a great ROM). It also appears that the OC settings work with pershoot's OC kernel as well. I love the fact that it clocks based on battery life.

@goodintentions
Geez guy, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? It's not like he posted a long harrasing write up for Gingerbread. It was subtle just like you should be. Chill out please.
On that note does anyone have a video of this "Beast ROM" in action?

Wish I could get this combo running. I have been running C&C 1.1+v9 for awhile now and love it. I can't get any of the OC kernals running. The only way I can get this to boot is to install the C&C OC combo and before booting I have to install Clemsyn's v9 kernal. I can't get Pershoots 1.4 ghz kernel running either.
The best I have gotten was with the C&C combo and then installing Clemsyn's OC Extra kernal and I can get to the HC animated boot screen but it never gets past that. My son and I bought our gtabs the same day and his runs all the OC kernels.. Oh Well...

[KERNEL][GPL][ACS]Xtreme Kernel v1.2.0-Lucy-1.3GHz OC,Battery,Tweaked Voodoo(options)

ANDROID CREATIVE SYNDICATEpresentsXTREME KERNEL V1.2.0
First of all, I want to put my thank yous up here at the top, so, here they are:
-geniusdog254 - My primary teammate, been helping me every step of way.
-nullghost - One really cool dude. Always on when I ask for help. Git would still be a scary thing if not for him.
-rjmjr69 - Funny, funny dude. Keeps me motivated to keep going
-The Voodoo Team - Your work is awesome!
-My beta testers - You were/are all great. Thanks for helping me with this!
-All the devs across the board - Seriously, you're all a bunch of absolutely awesome people.
-Anyone I forgot - You're all great!
Now, here we go:
THE STANDARD DISCLAIMER
I, DevinXtreme, AM NOT responsible for what happens to your phone, your cat, your house, or anything relating to you! If your phone bricks, OH WELL. Have a nice day.
This kernel has a MixUp kernel base. DI18, blah blah. I deviated once Interactive got working. I also removed the Voodoo color modification. So, there's that.
It is built and designed for Syndicate ROM, which will be out later tonight. Sickest ROM you've ever seen. The version released with the ROM is slightly different, but only for fun's sake
Changelog:
v1.2.0
-Removed the 1.6GHz step. The time machine is gone. Plus, was causing more problems than it was helping.
-Added 1.3GHz step courtesy Herver
-Switched from MPLL to APLL. Smoothness and speed increase. Thanks to nullghost for help on this.
-Added Voodoo color mod, tweaked version, courtesy Herver. I will be maintaining a no-voodoo version. I just haven't yet.
-Tweaked the light sensor, adding a new step and made it not jump to the brightest setting as much. Should save battery and transition smoother. Also pols a little more often.
-Tweaked scaling rules for 1.3GHz. Should scale there less, thus saving battery.
ADDITION: The file ending in 'nv.zip' is a no-voodoo version. The file ending in 'ov.zip' is the version for the original voodoo mod, not the tweaked one.
v1.0.1
-Fixed scaling. Linpack scores and tests work fine now.
-Disabled Carrier IQ in init.rc. Carrier IQ is essentially Sprint spyware. Kernel devs: This is really easy to do. Just comment out the iqmsd lines at the end.
v1.0
-Overclock to 1.6GHz!! Requires SetCPU which is, for some reason, defaulting to performance. Make sure you change it to conservative.
-Default governor without SetCPU is conservative with 200MHz-1GHz steps.
-Removed Voodoo
-Framerate unlocked (78-80fps)
-Built for ROMs with a custom boot. Makes stock boot look like garbage. We're working (still) to fix this.
-Undervolted
KNOWN BUGS:
-In spare parts, if you set the WiFi policy to never sleep, it still sleeps with the screen off. -skandranon314
-Some weird vibration thing going on when 1.6GHz is hit.
NOTES:
Linpack is being strange with this. I'm getting between 9.2 and 9.8 with some REALLY strange numbers. I'll have this fixed this weekend.
SetCPU sets the default governor to performance. If you use it, be sure to change it immediately for battery life.
FOR 1.2
-I recommend 200MHz-1200MHz. Some phones can't reach 1.3GHz safely.
-200MHz - 800/1000MHz is a great setting for battery and you should still have a very smooth experience.
For those who care, I get 1135+ in quadrant.
You can read my source here.
Thanks, guys. I hope you enjoy!

Ok, good. I was worried for a sec
So would you recommend flashing the new one when it's up since you're tweaking it?
Hmm.. something's not right here. I just got 22 fps in Neocore with the removed kernel. What could I be doing wrong?
Edit: Switching from performance to conservative upped my results to 62 fps which is quite respectable.

what kind of voltage are you giving it to get 1.6 stable? based on what im reading, anything above 1.3/1.4 is pretty much unachievable on these devices and is not really the speed that the device is running thus the unscaled rise in benchmark scores. iv been following hero_over and he couldnt get a stable 1.4 OC although he did get 1.3ghz on stock volts stable..which keeps me wondering if we really can hit 1.6 stable

All of it is on my git. I release my source, as devs should with GPL. The problem is that the fsb isn't scaled properly, affecting the floating point processor, causing low Linpack scores. I'll have it worked out this weekend,

Wow. What a difference.

I really just wanted to make a thread because I cannot believe how much more I can get out of this device than my previous. I had an Epic 4G previous to this and switched back to tmobile because I got back on a family plan to save me some money. I was expecting to not get as great of device with the mytouch but I liked the price and that it was 4G. After rooting it flashing CM7 and the new kernel. Holy crap my Epic4G is garbage.
I just jumped back into the development thread and they finally have an OC kernel for 2.2 and they are pulling 16's in linpack and 1150+ in quadrant at 1.2gHz....I put my CM7 at 1.2 and I pulled 37.8 in Linpack and 1890 in quadrant . When I bump it up to 1.8gHz I pull 63.5 in linpack and in pull 3048 in quadrant.
I'm just stunned at how well this device has performed in the few days I have had it!
Oh and I forgot to mention that my battery life is WAYYYYY better. Haven't had to plug my phone in all day and ive been using facebook and texting all day. 12 hours and 40% battery still left! WOOT!
Welcome. I'm also a Galaxy S converter and have never looked back. This phone will definitely hold me over until a good 4.3" one comes out on tmobile.
Agreed. I liked the Vibrant but look at how hard of a time they're having just getting CM on it. While every thing can be ported to the MT4G such as CM, sense, and even MIUI. I know dual cores are right around the corner but I can honestly say that this phone will last me the full 2 years of the contract. Everything is blazing as it is, don't need to spend hundreds on a dual core when I won't even notice the speed increase.

FYI, I get higher linpack with my stock, non-overclocked MT4G than you do with CM7 and Higher quadrant than your CM7 at 1.2, And I'm stock, no overclock. But at 1.8, You win... so IMO CM7 is worthless, unless you just want that gingerbred looking jazz and don't like sense.
I got my gf a Captivate shortly after I got my MT4G and I felt a little embarrassed once the difference in quality became apparent. We still talk about her getting her an MT4G of her own when her contract with AT&T is finally up in like 9 months.
The pretty AMOLED screens are battery murderers.

Well what did you expect? thats why they call it stock as it has so much BS bolts its not even funny, IDK why you didn't just try IG. Thats the beauty of CM7RC1(ASOP2.3.2) as its modified for performance and power consumption with nice balance. Don't let the synthetic score get to your head as it means nothing and no way does it translate in to real world performance. Soon as I got MT4G in hours I rooted and put IG on it as CM7(GB) NB came out from Alpha most of us switched to the darkside no need to look back.

[Q] Best Kernel for battery life/stability

Hi I am flashing this phone for a friend and I come from the Samsung Captivate so its fairly similar. Only question I have and I hope someone can help without flaming me is which Kernel would you suggest? Im going with Infused 1.5.2 as the rom and I am just curious what pairs with that best? Thanks in advance.

if you're one of those "set it and forget it" types... i was incredibly pleased with the latest release of gtg's infusion 1.5.2 rom/kernel combo. very responsive, smooth and snappy. by far my favorite of all his releases to date for this phone.
if you're the type that likes to do a bit of fiddling for an ultimately rewarding end result, i recommend installing the above mentioned rom with bedwa's OC/UV kernel. i've had nothing but a smooth and stable experience with the two paired together. nothing but good things to say about both of these. having voodoo lagfix alone makes a huge difference. when you combine that with overclocking you get a device that feels much more awake and ready to perform. undervoltage allows you to use less battery power, even though the cpu is running at a higher frequency. really, makes a HUGE difference. cannot express how pleased i am with these two running together.
*i might also add that i've never installed any of the other roms. i have tried the defuse kernel with BLN was introduced(it has since been removed due to buggy issues).

cool man. no problem. infused rom makes a world of difference in itself.
I've had the best battery life and stability on Infusion 1.5.0
Overclocked to 1.6, with the right undervolting i lost 3% battery over night (9+ hours)
I tried the 1.8 infusion but "OnDemand" stops working and thats my favorite setting so I went back to 1.5.0
I never had good luck with ondemand, along with most other users. Ondemand always FC'd on me

Kernel Question

I've taken a look at the various kernel offerings in the development section and I have to say nice work to everyone working on them. I can make a rom, but have no clue about kernel work. My question is, can we clock any higher than 1.55GHz? I wasn't sure if anyone has tried making a kerel that can clock to 1.8 or anything like that. I would love to try out a kernel that OC's higher as my phone seems to handle 1.55GHz like a champ. Does anyone know of a kernel that clocks higher or know if anyone is working on one? Or does anyone have any good resources about kernel development and how to make one that clocks higher. I wouldn't mind learning to develope a kernel. Thanks in advance for any information.
Just curious. At 1.55Ghz how hot does your phone get? Can you use it to fry eggs?

My phone only gets hot when I really put stress on it, like running Antutu or high graphic games. Right now just with normal use my battery is 34.8C/94.6F. I'm not sure if that is good or not though, lol.

Lmao.
To the OP: how long does your battery last? I've been playing with different kernels too..but the most stable one i've tried so far is the latest Faux v0.4.1 But i really want to try the Trinity15...

I'm not really sure how long it lasts. I haven't tested it to see. I have my phone plugged in a lot at work, so it charges a lot. I will unplug it and see what I get out of it and report back. I am using faux's kernel at the moment.
I see. @ 1.1ghz i get more or less 10hrs of battery life..with moderate use like texting, FB, and occasional youtube videos.

[Q] Information overload, What kernal/Rom combo best fits my needs?

Howdy, So I just got my first smart phone a few weeks ago, the AT&T Skyrocket. Kinda odd since I have been in IT works for many years that it took so long but could never afford the upgrade, my cars sap every spare penny lol.
After getting the phone I spent a few days getting to know it and then rooted it so I could use Titanium backup.
Now long story short due to an unrelated issue with ATT they sent me another phone to fix an issue I told them was on their end (and sure enough, it is, I think I figured it out though, anyone else get charged for a text message when the ATT family map "pings" the device?).
So for the time being I have 2 skyrocket phones and figured this was as good a time as any to try out another rom/kernal on the 2nd phone in case I don't like it my phone will remain untouched (I am picky about how my computers are setup).
So that is the history lesson, I have read sooo much the last few weeks it has gave me a good handle on the general process ect. My issue is picking out an actual rom/kernal to use, I have read so much they are all just one big garble of random info and I could use some advice to pick out what would work for me.
Here is what I want out of a rom/Kernal:
Clock speeds/voltages unlocked, I am an oldschool overclocker so naturally I feel everything can be made better.
Better battery life, Right now the battery life is ok but a bit too close for my tastes and I also feel it is just draining too fast for what I am doing (about ~8-10%/Hour average).
Some improvements like the light meter being linear vs having big steps would also be nice, I know the sensor itself can do it from the the screens but the software just goes in steps I guess.
Stable! I want something rock solid stable that I can count on for a long time to come.
Thats about it, The stock rom works fine for my needs minus those complaints. The clock/voltages being the biggest complaint if I had to go with only a kernal to keep a stable ROM.
So what suggestions do ya'll have? Is there by any chance a modded stock rom that is just debloated ect but will still be stable, that would work nice if it helped battery life some combined with a kernal I think.
I don't mind trying a few combos of roms/kernals but only have a week or 2 before I have to send this phone back and would need to fully test each one so I figure I only have time to do that on a handful in that time frame (I am very through)
Rom I have no clue what would work best for me. Kernal the Faux looks pretty good for my goals but I am not sure.
Any advice would be great.
From personal experience, anything made by forum member mhx is incredible. His ROMs are always super stable and and stripped of bloat. It also has the best battery out of all the ROMs I've tried.
Mhx's Gingerbread ROM
Mhx's ICS ROM
This is the kernel that I use Faux's Kernel

Thanks, Those roms look nice for sure!
That brings up another question I have. I keep reading all this stuff about ICS but have not been able to figure out why it is such a big deal. Looks like just a different theme to me or is it more then that?
Is it more like going from windows 95 to 98? Or like 98 to Windows 7?
Is it worth going with ICS over the gingerbread?
Lastly I notice that they say they come with kernels, Does that mean I have to use those kernels? I assume this is not the case since you are using a different kernel but better safe then sorry.
Thanks for the help!

If you are wanting a rock solid stable phone I would avoid the ICS madness for now, it's not quite perfected yet. You don't have to use the kernel they come with.

Thanks, I was kinda thinking that. For future reference, what does ICS offer that Gingerbread doesn't?
So I take it that this means there are stable gingerbread roms that should at least come close to stock for reliability/functionality long term? Any opinion on the above mentioned rom/Kernal combo?

Thanks for that, I had not seen a list of the features listed out like that before. I think I am starting to see what all the buzz is now.
I plan on flashing the rom/kernel you posted earlier tonight, if anyone else has a suggestion for a follow up combo to try feel free to share!
Last I heard OCing of ICS is not possible yet, so since you mentioned that, ICS is out for a good while.

Ah, yeah that would put that off for a little while. Think I might try it out before returning the phone so at least I know if I am interested in it but just gonna stick with the most stable gingerbread rom for now.

Yeah there are a number of stable GB roms. nexusmod4, mhx superlite, seanz skyics, tpcv3, silver ROM. Read through the threads and see what people think. I prefer nexusmod as my daily, but all those are good

Thanks, out of those the MHX, nexus and silver rom look to be the most up my alley, should at least give me a good idea if an aftermarket rom is for me.
One question I have is they all mention needing new Modem files flashed? This is different then the radios? Anything I should know about that aspect of it?

agreed, all those x listed have proven to be extrememly stable. For best battery life with OC'ing and undervolting support use any of those roms with faux's 010m kernel. I was getting 1% battery almost every two hours with that, fauxclock app undervolt -100mV, and tpc v3, before i switched to ics

I just flashed the 010m kernel on the stock rom to play with that first and ran into something I am not sure about.
I tried both system tuner and fauxclock, at first everything was working as it should then I noticed that the 2nd core said "offline" and it won't seem to come on no matter what even while running stress tests. Any ideas?

It's more than that. It's a lot smoother and faster, better performance in everything, hardware accelerated UI, better multitasking.
It's the biggest update the OS has ever gotten, period. Yeah, it's still Android at the end of the day, but it's a pretty big refinement.

Yeah, I am starting to see that.
Back to the issue of the 2nd core going offline, After some playing around the only way I could seem to get it to come back online was to install SetCPU along with fauxclock. This seems to make the 2nd core come online but I am worried that running both apps will cause issues with them fighting over who has control?
I much prefer setCPU for the clock speed controls due to the profiles I can create but no voltage control. Is it possible to use the faux for voltage and the setCPU for clock speed control? Or am I asking for problems?

Definately asking for problems. Only use ONE cpu controlling app. SetCPU does have better profiles but fauxclock has a few. Which rom were u using it with? It does disable the 2nd core by default to save battery, but enabled it as soon as it is required (i.e. games and/or benchmark.) TO check run a force close setcpu and run a benchmark, then home back to menu and run setcpu, it will show 2nd core as active.

I tried that, the 2nd core stays offline no matter what I do unless I run setcpu.
I would just run setCPU but then I would not be able to undervolt. I wounder if I could use one of these scripts http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20946429&postcount=574
That would take care of the undervolt and then use setcpu to handle the clock speeds? That would seem to be the best of both worlds.
not recommended. Use system tuner instead. It has almost as much profile control as setcpu, but the voltage control of fauxclock. It also has an option to force both cores online.

I tried it but didn't care for it. Still didn't have the profiling options I want. I like the setcpu since I can set it to have different CPU speeds at different times/situations. Maybe that is not worth the power savings. Whats wrong with setcpu?
I also had the same problem with system tuner as well, it would not bring the 2nd core online.
