Could be you don't have the correct drivers installed?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
the steps I follow loaded drivers to windows 7 with no issue and started to copy then stopped where I show in the image. Were these the wrong steps. Did I need to install Kies first.
Steps
Plug your usb into comp
pull battery out of phone
put battery back in
hold volume + and - and plug in usb to phone
click the exe file and your off
Got it loaded. I used the cable that came with the phone and also loaded Kies.
All good.

I no there are threads similar to needing help suck in download mode. But I had some different problems. First i tried to use the odin to flash back to stock so i can use a different rom. but when i was trying my phone got unplugged from my computer and i received a picture on my phone with a phone a caution sign and the computer. i finaly got out of that and was able to put it in download mode. took about 30 min to get off that caution sign to the download mode. now from here using the command prompt it can detect my phone with adb devices. i also cant get odin to work. Im sorry that this is so long, but this is the first time this has happened so im reaally in need of help. Also i got the first captivate that came out when it was released for AT&T and I have used the odin on my computer in Dec 2010 so I no it works with my computer and phone

I had the same thing happen for the first time a couple days ago. I had to pull my battery and sim card 3 or 4 times, and restart odin everytime, and it eventually worked. It was like it was stuck. This worked for me, hope it works for you.

I think you put wrong pit and pda files during odin process...follow steps here how to odin back to stock...
Download all the files needed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
See video on Youtube how to get to download mode and how to odin back to stock:

Try pulling battery
Replace battery
Hold the volume down button while plugging in a usb cable (already attached to computer) into the phone...
See if you can get into download mode
Were you using odin or heimdall to go back to stock?

then try Hemiball if odin is not working. I remember somewhere that drivers are particular to the port you are using. With hemi if you are asked you might not see the driver the first time. click the dropdown and located from there
Samsung usb driver.
for Windows 32bit
for Windows 64bit
Your computer remove all samsung driver and kies, restart completed.
Install samsung usb driver and connecting usb test.
Had exact thing happen to me !!! not bricked!
as the others have said need to try and get it into dl mode! need a GOOD data cable "thats how i got that pretty screen" your data cable caused this issue odin says i see phone then all at once say just 7 seconds into update odin says ooopsie no phone. then when you go to redo poof you get that screen i freaked! turns out it was data cable!
you may need i think its called a "jig" if buttons wont allow you !
once you get that yellow triangle your good to go !
I have had my charge for about a year and a half now and have ran gummycharge and most recently was on Tweek stock V1 for the last 9 months. This morning i decided it was time to upgrade to Tweek stock V3 so i was following the step to install it by first unrooting it and when i did odin failed install of the MD5 file and now my computer whenever i plug the phone in is comes up with a message of USB Device Not Recognized and Odin wont recognize the device when i put it into download mode. Also if i try to power it on it comes up with the screen that has a picture of a phone ! computer and will only sit there .
I have reset my computer multiple times i have tried 3 different cords and both USB ports Does anyone know how to solve this problem???

Hey there guys, this is my first post on this site after looking around for about the last 2 hours. My phone was stuck in a boot loop, (samsung screen) I found instructions on another post on this site of how to use ODIN to repair this. I put my phone into download mode ( the yellow droid shoveling screen) and began the flashing process, everything seemed to be working fine until my dog runs by and pulls the cord out. Now my phone keeps flashing the [phone]..!..[PC] screen with the message Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery in keis & try again. connecting and disconnecting to my PC about every 2 seconds it what appears to be an endless loop.. I can no longer enter download mode. I have tried the Heimdall but it simply reads connected then disconnected 2 seconds later in what seems to be an endless loop. So in heimdall or ODIN by the time i am able to read the device and begin the process it has already disconnected. if anyone could lend any assistance it would be greatly appreciated as im sure i could find a much more attractive paperweight for the price i payed for this phone.
Thanks in advance.
Try restarted your PC that screen your seeing on your phone is download mode. Also try different USB port and cord. Also reinstall the drivers for the phone.PCs do some strange things sometimes usually reinstall the drivers will fix the problem.Good luck.

Thanks for the response, I have tried uninstalling keis and uninstalling the drivers through the device manager. I searched my hard drive and could not find any files related before i installed them again. the phone is still power-cycling itself while showing this screen. connecting and disconnecting from my computer.
Honestly I never use kies I just download the drivers and reinstall them.Use Odin or heimdal to flash back to stock then odin entropy kernel then I'm ready to go.Hold both volumes then plug in these programs should read it.I also use a jig comes in handy. Also my PC acts up with the USB ports I end up having to plug in to the back usbs on the motherboard my front ones are iffy.

Hi,
I have got Samsung Infuse i997R, which I unofficially upgraded to JB 4.2 and then trying to downgrade, got bricked.
Samsung Kies/ODIN no more detects the phone. And its not switching to Download mode either.
I already used Volume Up+Down options as well as Jig solution. Though, display show me to connect to to Samsung Kies but its in vain.
Can anybody suggest me some way out here to bring life to my phone.
Thanks in advance.
Sachin

I know I have done some series of mistakes here while playing with my phone android but here is the sequence:
The phone was earlier bear GB 2.3.6 which I have upgraded to JB 4.2 directly using Clock mod & all (the steps available on most of site).
After upgrade I came to know that my IMIE number goes invalid; thus o more phone calls were working.
Followed by this, I tried downgrading it after which my phone got stucked in Download mode.
I accidentally pulled the USB cable post which it was not going into Download mode either and displays the warning message to connect to Samsung Kies.
But now, neither Samsung Kies nor ODIN recognizes it. I tries to get into Download mode again using Volume UP+Down combination as well as Jig but its not working for me either.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Had the same problem and seems there is no way out w/out being able to get into dl mode.
I was already on 4.2.2 rom beanstock & wanted to flash a different rom, did all the correct things in the correct order.
What I DIDN'T do was format the system option while in cwm and I have (I think) major incompatibility problems.
ok so if I could get into dl mode i'd could flash back to stock & start over. NOT without a dl screen.
from what I can see & read there is no way out of a hard brick like this.
yes, tried every possible combination of two button, battery in battery out, usb cable in out, different usb ports on computer.
not much help anywhere when in this problem mode.
looking for a cheap i997 & pull the main board & put it in this bricked phone & hopefully get into dl mode.
