I have had my charge for about a year and a half now and have ran gummycharge and most recently was on Tweek stock V1 for the last 9 months. This morning i decided it was time to upgrade to Tweek stock V3 so i was following the step to install it by first unrooting it and when i did odin failed install of the MD5 file and now my computer whenever i plug the phone in is comes up with a message of USB Device Not Recognized and Odin wont recognize the device when i put it into download mode. Also if i try to power it on it comes up with the screen that has a picture of a phone ! computer and will only sit there .
I have reset my computer multiple times i have tried 3 different cords and both USB ports Does anyone know how to solve this problem???
Hop on to IRC. You're going to need more live help than a forum can provide.

I no there are threads similar to needing help suck in download mode. But I had some different problems. First i tried to use the odin to flash back to stock so i can use a different rom. but when i was trying my phone got unplugged from my computer and i received a picture on my phone with a phone a caution sign and the computer. i finaly got out of that and was able to put it in download mode. took about 30 min to get off that caution sign to the download mode. now from here using the command prompt it can detect my phone with adb devices. i also cant get odin to work. Im sorry that this is so long, but this is the first time this has happened so im reaally in need of help. Also i got the first captivate that came out when it was released for AT&T and I have used the odin on my computer in Dec 2010 so I no it works with my computer and phone
AND

I had the same thing happen for the first time a couple days ago. I had to pull my battery and sim card 3 or 4 times, and restart odin everytime, and it eventually worked. It was like it was stuck. This worked for me, hope it works for you.

Ok total noob, but heres where im stuck. Ive somehow managed to screw up the system partition. when i reboot it says its unavailable, I'm able to get into red CWM. but my issue is also that I Cannot get the drivers to install on my pc (win7 64bit) i've tried both regular kies and mini kies and pc studio as well as the att usb modem drivers.
I've tried Odin but the phone wont stay visible long enough to allow it to flash, it will start but then the phone will disconnect and format will fail.
Any ideas fellas?
(update) drivers installed as Samsung USB composite device & Samsung Mobile modem, but I'm now stuck at the screen with a phone and a dotted line with an exclamation point in a yellow triangle that connects to a pc.
am currently downloading ult. unbrick and return to stock..and crossing all my finger and toes
FIXED!!!
switched to eSata port, which didnt recognize phone before. IT did this time, ran Ult Un. Brick and wala!! all better!!! Now back to see what I can do to this thingy! (btw Gtg465x there's a donation headed your way)
Try installing kies 32 bit or try another usb port then try odin.

I have always had good luck with Odin 1.8 when it came to the Phone - to - Pc error. For some awesome reason, it will view it as download mode. But also try another USB port, new drivers or even heimdall. I personally don't use windows unless its in a VirtualBox, I have 99.4% success rate with heimdal. Give it a try.
My phone would not stay connected for more than a minute. I use a particular USB port and I use a different cable.

this belongs in general
I've tried a few other forums but haven't got any replies, I guess since the Galaxy 5 isn't such a popular device. I figured if there's anyone who can help me they will be here though.
I wanted to put CWM on it so I could get a CM7 port on. Unfortunately it's just about impossible for it to get detected on USB. I've installed Kies (and even the generic USB drivers found in the SDK). In 2 days I only got it to connect once, and then I went and bricked it.
The one time it finally connected I ran Odin and tried loading CWM onto it. It still hadn't finished after half an hour so I figured it ended with an error that was never displayed. So I unplugged it and as expected - brick! I can get into download (upgrade/firmware) mode so I think it can be fixed if I can get CWM on it (and just install the CM7 port I had originally intended to put on).
Problem is I cannot get the darn thing to connect! to my computer I've tried two separate PCs, one running Window 7 x64 and another running XP x32. Is there a a certain process of connecting things? I haven't ran across anyone making mention of one.
Has anyone else experienced USB problems like this with Samsung phones? Would it even be possible to flash CWM on after it's been bricked like this? When I boot (normally) all I get is an image showing a phone and a PC with and exclamation error connecting the two. Please help!
Try to look for stock firmware on the forum.xda-developers.com and flash via ODIN. You need to be able to put the phone into download mode, so maybe get an USB jig. That should do the trick. Odin has to recognize your phone. First of all right click on the ODIN executable and select "Run as administrator" on windows. Plug the phone in the DL mode and wait until it appears as active in Odin. Then flash the ROM and pit file. (Don't use ODIN one click). If ODIN does not recognize your phone try a different USB port or reinstall Kies. The Kies trick was which I used and it was able to recognize my phone.
Thanks, martin0176. I can still manage to get the phone into download mode - it's getting recognized by a PC that's the problem.
Could you tell me more about the pit file? I only have an ops file.
Try a different cable. I was having the same problem on the Samsung Continuum and it turned out that the cable was working for power, but not for data.
i have odin and all the kies files installed and i tried restoring it once and it did not work and now it shows a phone and computer when i go to download mode and when i plug it in to the computer it dose not show up on odin anymore! how do i get my phone fixed. can someone please help me!?
i got odin to work but it is stuck on seting up connection can anyone help me on how to get passed that?

guess since you posted in the GTG thread...you must be gtg now...
GTG...Good To Go....LOL
Try different usb cables and different ports on your computer. I have three ports on my laptop. One wouldn't connect with Odin, one would connect but would stop half way through the process, and the last one finally made it through.
Other than that you could try heimdall. And then try switching called and ports with that. You just have to keep trying and eventually it usually works. The last option is to buy a usb jig. That will give it a much better chance of getting a good connection.

Hey there guys, this is my first post on this site after looking around for about the last 2 hours. My phone was stuck in a boot loop, (samsung screen) I found instructions on another post on this site of how to use ODIN to repair this. I put my phone into download mode ( the yellow droid shoveling screen) and began the flashing process, everything seemed to be working fine until my dog runs by and pulls the cord out. Now my phone keeps flashing the [phone]..!..[PC] screen with the message Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery in keis & try again. connecting and disconnecting to my PC about every 2 seconds it what appears to be an endless loop.. I can no longer enter download mode. I have tried the Heimdall but it simply reads connected then disconnected 2 seconds later in what seems to be an endless loop. So in heimdall or ODIN by the time i am able to read the device and begin the process it has already disconnected. if anyone could lend any assistance it would be greatly appreciated as im sure i could find a much more attractive paperweight for the price i payed for this phone.
Thanks in advance.
Try restarted your PC that screen your seeing on your phone is download mode. Also try different USB port and cord. Also reinstall the drivers for the phone.PCs do some strange things sometimes usually reinstall the drivers will fix the problem.Good luck.

Thanks for the response, I have tried uninstalling keis and uninstalling the drivers through the device manager. I searched my hard drive and could not find any files related before i installed them again. the phone is still power-cycling itself while showing this screen. connecting and disconnecting from my computer.
Honestly I never use kies I just download the drivers and reinstall them.Use Odin or heimdal to flash back to stock then odin entropy kernel then I'm ready to go.Hold both volumes then plug in these programs should read it.I also use a jig comes in handy. Also my PC acts up with the USB ports I end up having to plug in to the back usbs on the motherboard my front ones are iffy.
