Hello
If you have updated Android 2.2 phone to 2.3.5 V20a, and now v21d. It is necessary to make updates and baseband? Or adapted, alone?
We used the model update in the memory card, zip format
v21d official LG

Thanks
If you install roms in zip format, your baseband does not change.
If you have to install baseband, you must either flash it with lg flash tool or flash a rom in kdz format with update tool.

First of all welcome to XDA and second please this forum is like every other rom there are a dozen threads here regarding basebands please try and search before you post. But since this is your first time i will give you some advice search before you post and see you around enjoy...
And the answer to your question is you need to download either kdz file of the rom you want for instance 21A and then use the flash tools you find in the dev section and flash your phone it will flash a stock rom and update to 21a baseband... Then no matter what custom rom you install your baseband will always be 21a...
Or you can just download basebands but you won't find many baseband files as they are hard to extract....

Vodafone phone is bought, and I always put v20a. And this version has a problem, use the battery in 7 hours.
So I did and I root v21d updated by rom manager.
I tried to make adaptation by KDZ, but not always respond, before you start the programs do everything stops and erroare.
After I tried to change the product code, the version I gasito this forum spooffw program, but yes erroare. Another tutorial I found.
I was interested in the original bag directly android update program. But fail to change product code. And as they fail to change product code, I call vodafone v20a.

Use the LG Updater tool and it will read your phone and install the update. Make sure you search this forum and very carefully follow the instructions on how to use the LG Updater program. It can soft-brick a phone (recoverable with hard work) if you don't do everything exactly as it should be done.

Hi,
Can someone please post a Nandroid image of the Videotron official stock P999 2.2 froyo ?
thanks a lot
I searched from hell and back when i first got my phone. Couldn't find anything
BEWARE!!! Videotron model is not a P999. Videotron has the P990 and has been updated to GB 2.3.4 rom. P999 roms/nandroids are not compatible with the Videotron 2X P990.
What are you talking about ?
About phone :
Model : LG-P999
On LG update :
Country : Canada
Model : LG-P999
Version : V11F
Look at the user guide :
h**p://support.videotron.com/residential/mobile/devices/lg-optimus-2x
I don't know where did you find that information but it's wrong!

Sorry about that. Got it confused with the Fido Canada version, which is a P990 updated to 2.3.4.
No problem Videotron still doesn't update to gingerbread -_-
Yes, that kind of sucks. It seems that Wind and Videotron are the only 2X variants in the word not updated to GB yet. TMO USA's is a step behind the P990s also, which were all updated to 2.3.4 worldwide about a month or two ago. LG did a worldwide rolling update that took about two weeks to deploy. When LG did evaluation units for Tracfone (Simple Mobile) in the U.S. they made them a 2.3.4 build also for the P999. I suspect the problem with Wind and Videotron is they don't want to pay for the update (carriers usually pay on a per unit basis for non bug related updates). Hopefully they are working on ICS and everyone will just leapfrog to that in about six months or so.
Edit: Sorry for taking this off topic. I hope you can find someone with a stock Videotron unit that can flash CWM and make you a Nandroid of their unit.

Could be a good idea to send a nicely worded PM to the user requesting a stock backup. Best of luck.
oh thanks i will send him a pm.
Do you still need it?
I am downloading this file, will test and let you know if this is what you are looking for:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7TDW422A
"File description: Rom Vidéotron original. "
Ok, I tried this out and it looks good. It's a stock 2.2.2 ROM with branded Videotron wallpaper, includes the Illico, Angry Bird Rio and Polaris Office apps, and is missing all nVidia apps (Tegra Zone, NFS, etc) that normally came with the retail phone (most if not all of these can be downloaded on XDA, just do a search in the Themes and Apps forum). Everything seems to work, including HDMI, but I only tested it for about half an hour, so no promises.
This will come handy if I need to send the unit back for servicing or replacement. Thanks to the (as yet unknown) user who uploaded this.
how do you flash this back to your phone? i also have the p999 but i flash with a p990 without knowing it now my phone is not working
i tried with clockworkmod but it doesnt work because i have flash it with nvflash using this method
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335...k-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
i think i have mofified some partition does anybody know how to flash it with nvflash please help me
This is a nandroid backup, not a flashable .zip file. You need to have CWM already installed (using the NVFlash method), create a sub-directory under clockwordmod/backup (I just named it "videotron"), unzip the backup files in that sub-directory, and use CWM's Restore function.

If he flashed a P990 rom using NVFlash method it repartitioned his memory. That might make CWM not work properly as I am not sure if CWM repartitions memory or not.

I made the same mistake before, I went back to stock recovery, then reset everything with NVFlash and reinstalled a P999 ROM (CM7, actually) and everything was working again.
oh thanks a lot it worked fine for me !

Hello all,
I have the "call sound" problem with Hellifire ROM as I didn't upgrade my baseband. In order to do to it I read that I have to return to stock ROM, update the baseband and then put Hellfire or whatever other ROM back again.
My question is how to go back to the stock rom. I did try the CWM way several times but no result. Is there any step by step guide I should follow elsewhere?
Thank you very much!

I don't think he made any effort to find the answer himself. A search wasn't even necessary considering the link you posted is located on the second page of general. Had he just went to the second page and scrolled down, he would have found it.
Anyway, I'm also contributing to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696266
That's the method I used in order to update my baseband OTA. It was simple. All you need to do is dowload a stock nandroid that you can easily find on the development section if you don't have one of your own.
The way I did mines was download xboarders LG ota 2.3.3 rom from rom manager, use nvflash to flash stock recovery, use superoneclick to unroot, then ran LG tool. But I heard people say as long as your on stock 2.3.3 rom you don't need to unroot. But I wanted it stock less chance of something going wrong
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Instead of attacking you should read what I'm writing... I said that I did the CWM method several times but no result. I did also what your links suggested but nothing again.
Any other suggestion. While back in "stock" version, v10f or v21e I'm trying to update to the new baseband but my process stops at 4%.
I have tried removing the battery and turning it on again -> NOTHING
I have tried reboot and hold VOL DOWN and POWER -> NOTHING (CWM is still installed)
Any other input will be highly appreciated.
There are several suggestions in that thread to get the baseband to update, you tried all of them?
Reinstall the LG drivers
Attempt to update with V21E Stock ROM AND Stock Recovery
use the kdz method with the V21Y file (being on the 2.3.4 Stock ROM makes this go quicker according to posts in thread)
What operating system do you use also? Do you have admin rights?
If anything this should get the call audio to work even on the old baseband if you flash it on top of the ROM as the new baseband has shown no improvement for anything in my personal experience: http://www.mediafire.com/?ducdiqhcuaje5y2
Can I install any ROM made for P500 on my T-mobile T509? My understanding is P500 has new basebands while P509 has old one.
What if I flash the new basebands v20 on my P509, which is currently having old bb v10. Can i install any P500 ROM on it?
Thanks.
If you want to flash P500 roms on your P509, you will need to flash this file as well:

Thanks. I think this is the opposite way from what I was talking about. I believe this flash replaces the new bb with the old one to make the ROM work. The one I was asking is to upgrade old bb to new one.

You don't need to change the baseband if you don't want to. Just flash the old baseband fix right after the ROM, before rebooting. I've been doing this for years with my p509 with awesome results. I figure why screw around with the baseband change when this combo had worked so well for me and takes only a few extra minutes.
Btw...the old baseband fix doesn't change your baseband it only makes the new baseband ROMs work with a phone running the old baseband.
Swyped from my P509 on Tmobile.
With Swype and Flash, why would anyone choose the iPhone?

Yes
I have a tmobile P509 as well. I read that the new baseband doesn't have all of tmobile's frequencies on it so I want to stay on the old one. So can I install the latest cm7 on this and then flash the old baseband fix and still be able to access all the frequencies/towers and have everything work?
Also, if I wanted to flash a new kernal on the cm7 rom I would need a .35 kernel correct?

Yes to the first question. That's what I do I think the kernel is a .32 kernel, but I'm not 100% sure. CM7.2, atleast the version I'm running, already has overclocking ,etc. it that's what you're looking to do with the kernel.
Advice needed ..

Hi, Sorry for reliving an old thread.
I have a T-mobile P509 that is running Froyo, rooted -and nothing else done to it.
I read some threads which have complicated sequence of steps to get the P509 to use new versions of Android.
Until now, this thread appears to have a shorter path, and still be able to use any P500 ROMs, I assume.
My apologies if this seems like I'm not too familiar, hope can correct/add anything I missed. I assume these are the correct steps:
1. Take the micro sd card and put it in an SD adapter connected to your PC.
2. Next, in the P500 ROMs section of this forum find a ROM that is suitable; say file is a ZIP file- FRG83.zip, download it to the PC and then copy it to the SD card.
3. Put your SD card back into the phone. Then go to the recovery menu. Volume_Up+home+power hold until the recovery menu pops up.
4. Then wipe the data, then install zip from SD card, choose the FRG83.ZIP file that you just downloaded and let it do its thing
5. Then reboot, go to recovery again and then install zip (the fix posted by sweetnsour on Dec 26th on this thread). Basically, the final step is that fix file, i.e ZIP file downloaded.
Are the steps correct? I am sorry, I am still reading and taking notes to get the order/sequence and any files ready before I take action.
Thanks any advice and help.

To begin with, Welcome to XDA Developers
Please review the LG Optimus One FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions.
As for which ROM is better... That's really a matter of personal preference. I'd suggest reading the FAQ first before making a hurried decision.
Starting with CM7 ( Android 2.3 ) all ROMs are for new baseband. From what info you've supplied your device is old baseband. If you choose a P500 specific ROM CM7.2 or later you will also need the old baseband patch. There is a link in the FAQ I mentioned above for downloading it. Should you decide to use any of Rasheds ROMs, just use the P509 variant. It's hardware is identical to the P500 but the P509 will always be an old baseband device. Rashed include the old baseband patch in the P509 and P506 ROMs. Do NOT flash a P506 ROM on your device. The touchscreens are different so they have different drivers.
Best of luck and once again, Welcome to XDA-Developers

NEVER use ROM Manager with this device. Flash old baseband patch after flashing the ROM. Once rooted, you can use FlashImageGUI to flash a custom recovery. Then reboot device to recovery and following flashing steps posted in the FAQ. FlashImageGUI is an application ( apk ). You can download it from Play Store. ROM must be on SDCARD to flash it via recovery. You can also use Android Flash Recovery to flash a custom recovery if you prefer using Windows. Link is in my signature. The download contains the drivers needed for Windows to detect your device. You must install them before attempting to flash the recovery. Drivers are located in the usb folder in the archive.

Honestly I'm not sure. I've try not to use KDZ because of all the devices that have been bricked by it. I'm not saying that yours will get bricked, but I was never willing to try. I still have a P509 but I don't use it anymore except for testing apps that I write. KDZ has bricked 2 P506's for me. But, I think the issue was that I left the SIM card in the device. Not sure tho. Sorry I cannot give you a more direct answer.

It will update your recovery to the newest stock recovery is my guess but that won't work. Stock recovery doesn't allow for custom ROM installations. As I mentioned earlier, you will need to install a custom recovery and not thru LG Update. Along with Android Flash Recovery ( AFR ) there are many other tools here at XDA that are far safer to use than LG's software since most of LG's stuff is crap. Just do a little searching and you'll find what you're looking for. My job is not to give you all the answers you want, but to point you in the right direction. Here at XDA we stress using the Search feature.
