[Request] Nandroid of Videotron Official Stock P999 2.2 Froyo - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi,
Can someone please post a Nandroid image of the Videotron official stock P999 2.2 froyo ?
thanks a lot

I searched from hell and back when i first got my phone. Couldn't find anything

BEWARE!!! Videotron model is not a P999. Videotron has the P990 and has been updated to GB 2.3.4 rom. P999 roms/nandroids are not compatible with the Videotron 2X P990.

What are you talking about ?
About phone :
Model : LG-P999
On LG update :
Country : Canada
Model : LG-P999
Version : V11F
Look at the user guide :
h**p://support.videotron.com/residential/mobile/devices/lg-optimus-2x
I don't know where did you find that information but it's wrong!

Sorry about that. Got it confused with the Fido Canada version, which is a P990 updated to 2.3.4.

No problem Videotron still doesn't update to gingerbread -_-

Yes, that kind of sucks. It seems that Wind and Videotron are the only 2X variants in the word not updated to GB yet. TMO USA's is a step behind the P990s also, which were all updated to 2.3.4 worldwide about a month or two ago. LG did a worldwide rolling update that took about two weeks to deploy. When LG did evaluation units for Tracfone (Simple Mobile) in the U.S. they made them a 2.3.4 build also for the P999. I suspect the problem with Wind and Videotron is they don't want to pay for the update (carriers usually pay on a per unit basis for non bug related updates). Hopefully they are working on ICS and everyone will just leapfrog to that in about six months or so.
Edit: Sorry for taking this off topic. I hope you can find someone with a stock Videotron unit that can flash CWM and make you a Nandroid of their unit.

Could be a good idea to send a nicely worded PM to the user requesting a stock backup. Best of luck.

oh thanks i will send him a pm.

Do you still need it?

I am downloading this file, will test and let you know if this is what you are looking for:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7TDW422A
"File description: Rom Vidéotron original. "

Ok, I tried this out and it looks good. It's a stock 2.2.2 ROM with branded Videotron wallpaper, includes the Illico, Angry Bird Rio and Polaris Office apps, and is missing all nVidia apps (Tegra Zone, NFS, etc) that normally came with the retail phone (most if not all of these can be downloaded on XDA, just do a search in the Themes and Apps forum). Everything seems to work, including HDMI, but I only tested it for about half an hour, so no promises.
This will come handy if I need to send the unit back for servicing or replacement. Thanks to the (as yet unknown) user who uploaded this.

how do you flash this back to your phone? i also have the p999 but i flash with a p990 without knowing it now my phone is not working

i tried with clockworkmod but it doesnt work because i have flash it with nvflash using this method
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335...k-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
i think i have mofified some partition does anybody know how to flash it with nvflash please help me

This is a nandroid backup, not a flashable .zip file. You need to have CWM already installed (using the NVFlash method), create a sub-directory under clockwordmod/backup (I just named it "videotron"), unzip the backup files in that sub-directory, and use CWM's Restore function.

If he flashed a P990 rom using NVFlash method it repartitioned his memory. That might make CWM not work properly as I am not sure if CWM repartitions memory or not.

I made the same mistake before, I went back to stock recovery, then reset everything with NVFlash and reinstalled a P999 ROM (CM7, actually) and everything was working again.

oh thanks a lot it worked fine for me !

Videotron Stock ROM Nandroid backup
I made a backup of the Videotron STOCK ROM that didnt even get booted once (since I started by installing CWM with nvflasher before even booting) if anyone is interested!

Just go ahead and post it to multiupload. I am sure that can be of use to many people. Thanks for sharing. I will download it to see what differences there are in the Videotron rom.

[Q] it is possible to...

Sorry, I'm new to this so sorry if this seems dumb.
So i bought the phone from rogers and immediately updated to froyo 2.2 official release by rogers/samsung.
I read about all the hype online about rooting and custom roms so i decided to give it a shot.
I used the superoneclick method to root my phone and it was successful.
I then used "rom manager - clockworkmod" and created a restore file before i did any flashing to my phone.
after creating a backup, i went on and flashed to the cognition 3.04.
Now my question is. Am i ever able to get my phone back to its original rom, kernel, and modem? the reason i want to know is because i might need to get my phone replaced due to some technical issues with the phone.
Also, does the backup of my phone after rooting play a part in any of this? if so, how?
Im sorry if there is already a post like this one. Its just that i couldn't find the answer through all the hundreds of pages of threads and replies, so I thought it would be easier to post a here with my specific question. Thanks.

danny

Do I not use that link in general, or just not to use the firmware given at the bottom? the steps are correct though, no?
also from my searching.
i can put my phone back to my backup point (just after rooting) through clockworkmod. Woud this change my rom back to stock from? how about kernel and modem and all that? would that all get reversed back to my backup point? meaning it will basically be a stock phone. But I think also read somewhere that my kernel and modem does not get changed back to rogers original one. is there a way to do it?
I then found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846501
that says i need the original rogers rom for the captivate by the links there no longer work for download. Also on that thread, it was mentioned that the AT&T logo will still come up on startup, which would not be a good idea if i had to send my phone in for warrenty.
I then looked at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SGH-I896
Here it tells me to flash to a i9000 before i reflash to a rogers firmware in order to remove the at&t logo. it also provides me with a link for the " Official Rogers Stock ROM ", but according to somebody on the first link i posted here, it isnt the "official rom"
Any ideas?
This is where I got the stock 2.2 file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905042.
Edit: I have flashed a bunch of times and have never got stuck with the AT&T startup after flashing back to stock with the odin file.

Thanks. So im assuming now that the only time my kernel and modem wont go back to stock is when i flash with CWM. correct?
I haven't tried using the CWM file in that link so I'm not sure if it contains the kernel and modem. As far as custom roms go most if not all come packaged with the kernel and modem of choice.
So.. When I do a "master clear" from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989...
Would everything be wiped? I read somewhere that when you do a "wipe" from your settings it only clears user settings or something. What would a "wipe"
from the recovery menu do?
I flashed to a different rom today thinking it will help my battery issue. When i am flashing from one rom to the next, i do a restore back to my backup before i flash to a new rom. Is this the correct method? or am i supposed to wipe beforehand? The reason i ask is because this is my 2nd rom and my battery issue still seems to be there. I tried other methods of fixing hte battery but nothign seems to work. When i looked into root explorer, i see that there are a lot more files now everywhere, than when i first started. would some of them be from my previous rom? if so how do i remove them?

WIND LG999DW Stuck at S/W upgrading screen

I am able to get into CWM recovery but unable to install any OS on the phone. Ive tried installing all sorts of .zip, didnt work. NEED HELP.
It is Wind mobile Canada version of Optimus 2X.
How about a better explanation of "didn't work".
And, specific information about which roms you've tried to flash.
Also how did you flash CWM?
Sent from a Delorean with a flux capacitor in 1985
i bet you he didn't flash it through nvflash correctly or maybe he didnt use nvflash at all.

follow this instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
I have used NVflash via command prompt on windows XP. when i hold the power+ -volume I see another LG logo( since I'm using the latest version 5 of clockwork mod recovery). I download rome like eagleblood, weaponG2x, WindG2x(some one had posted original android), miuiandroig2x etc. I have been creating .zip of each of them and pasted onto my sd card via mounting sd card from CWM recovery. then installed .zip from sd card and selected each of them but it says INSTALLATION ABORTED before starting. Not able to get any rom installed. Please help.
kdz updater crashes after 100% under download section. it says decompressing necessary files and doesn't respond after 100% and crashes. I've tried win 7 home basic 64 bit, xp professional 32bit.
Does not respond after saying NORMAL MTK UPGRADE START
read the guides/tutorials again
First and foremost I think you need to read ALL the tutorials on here a little more thoroughly, the way you're describing things indicates that you are unfamiliar with the correct process of flashing different roms. "S/W upgrading screen"?? "creating .zip of each of them"?? The issues you're experiencing are almost 100% user error and nothing hardware related.
Having said that, before you start blindly flashing, do a nandroid backup of your stock Wind rom immediately, then and only then proceed to flashing custom roms/kernels. Also, I would double check the nvflash instructions and repeat that process in its entirety, there's really no need to use rom manager at all or have the latest recovery release (from my experience with 5+ Android phones rom manager serves little purpose unless you're on cm nightlies, cwm and some patience is all you need).
Hopefully that didn't sound harsh, I'm honestly trying to help you, but seriously re-read everything then proceed with flashing, and if you're still having issues hopefully you can include more detailed information next time.
PS Weapon + faux's kernel = WIN
Hi, I have a similar problem.. I rooted my phone yesterday and then installed rom manager. When flashing, I chose LG Optimus 2X (which turns out to be P990) instead of the T-Mobile one (which is P999). My phone is the P999 one with Wind as well.
After a few seconds, the phone restarted and got stuck in the loading screen.
After doing a few searches, I nvflashed a stock image, but under phone info, the Model changed from P999 to P990. Problem is, the baseband says unknown and cannot get any signal. I tried KDZ updates as well as trying to restore stock ROMs using CWM Recovery with no success.
The KDZ method doesn't work as it gives an error saying there is a problem with the phone connectivity. Stock restores get stuck in a bootloop.
Does anyone know what I should do?
I have also tried the following :
Booted into CWM Recovery>mount SD card>USB Mount > extracted LG-P999-V10f>backup and restore(in CWM)> restore> YES
It went through and at the end said Restore Complete! but when i reboot I still see the S/W upgrade screen. I tried Factory restore too after restoring the above mentioned RoM
PS:My phone is not rooted and it is Wind mobile Canada LG-P999dw. Incase i need to root it then how am i suppose to do that since i am not able to bypass the Stupid S/W upgrade screen

Tried Installing .zip files but still the same problem.

I don't understand why you are zipping ROM's. They are already zipped and ready to be placed on the root of your card for flashing.

This is totally a misunderstanding for everyone. T-mobile got a specific branded version called the G2X (in the usa) but the rest of the world got Optimus 2x. I hate when G2X owners frown upon Optimus users that have questions in the G2X thread & vise versa (though there were none in this thread ). The threads need to be better named to P999 & P990 & these misflashes would not have occured. Not just on this site but the whole damn internet. Let me sum it up for the world lol ... There were 3 versions of the Optimus 2x released... The p990, The P999 & The Tmobile specfic branded G2X which is also a p999. I have a p999 Optimus 2x as stated in my Signature. People need to check their version & goto the appropriate forum, But it doesnt help when you are in the correct forum as a newbie & 10 ppl who actually have no idea what version your Optimus 2x is end up telling to to goto "THE OTHER FORUM" because they're in their own closed little world lol. C'mon guys... u know I love you all!
ANYHOW
I've heard of people using Smartflash (a tool made for the p990 ONLY) to partially unbrick p999's to a working state. Here's a small conversation I found on another site:
"Mrjava65, on Apr 29 2011, 18:48, said:
Is there any update on this?
I was one of (hopefully) many who confused the P990 as the same thing as the Optimus 2 @ or the G2X.
So now Im stuck ...If there was a smartflash for the P999 i could undo all this mess !
Any update would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
LOOK!
Sorry for not updating this topic previously. I had thought I did so however that was on xda. I was able to reinstall the factory rom from a link provided by a user on the xda forum and is also linked on this forum. Go here to download the rom http://www.fileserve.com/file/cwSGYn2/BIN_LGP999AT-01-V10f-310-260-MAR-27-2011+0.zip. You'll need the smartflash tool for the LP9990 to flash the bin files. I was only able to successfully flash the AP.bin, I believe Paul is working on getting a working baseband. The phone will be restored to factory settings after flashing the AP.bin with full functionality. I noticed the baseband is weak and searching for networks does give errors occasionally so we'll be patiently awaiting an update to solve this issue. Albeit your phone will be functional enough to satisfy you till then. If you need any help with the steps just reply in this thread"
*****UPDATE***** : Try reading this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226795 seems like this 1 would be your best bet rather than the above!
Now I don't know if this will work but it appears to be the only option u have. AGAIN Smartflash is a tool for the p990 ONLY & I suggest u only use that method if the second method (second link above) does not work. The KDZ method was crashing for me too when I was trying to update to T-mobile GB OTA update stock but I found that skipping the part that says "Read Phone Information" helped me get past any freezing/app crashing. If you are have connectivity issues w KDZ then make sure you downloaded the correct driver from the LG website for the correct version of windows.
Please update us & let us all know if it remains a brick or if you worked out your problem.

[Q] Need help fixing partitions for P999

Sorry if the answer is already posted, but I have searched for days..
I have seen other people who have made comments who made the same mistake, but cannot find out how to fix it.
Essentially, I flashed a P990 baseband/ROM onto my P999 by accident and now the partitions are sckrewed up whenever I attempt to CWM restore a stock image.
Any suggestions?

NVFlash? Available for G2X?
K here's how I fixed it for people who may wonder later.
Download the bin here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037120
Download/install smartflash tool here:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335494-12-aug-smartflash-stock-baseband-release-103521-20110725/
Follow same instructions, except in the ROM copy D/L tab, browse and select only the AP bin. I couldn't get the CP bin to work, something about couldn't find magic number..
Reboot and voila. You get factory T-Mobile software + splash screen. (I'm with Wind, so this is the only difference, and I guess OTA's wont work anymore..Wind really f*@#ed me up by labelling it LG Optimus 2X and P999)

I did the same thing to my 999 after it got hopelessly stick on the S/W screen. I tried the Smartflash tool, and was also only able to do the AP.bin file. That gave me the stock ROM, but NO BASEBAND - which I think is in the CP.bin file.
If you have working baseband, you are real lucky - as it apparently survived the LGupdater tool.
For those of you who are not so lucky, there is a recent thread in the Dev section that has a NVflash setup (including partitions). If you have exhausted all other remedies - give it a try.
PLEASE post results in that thread.

From the broken S/W screen, I nvflashed a stock p990 image that Paul made somewhere. That resulted in phone model saying P990, no baseband, no battery, wifi worked thou. AFTER THAT, I did the steps mentioned above.

[Q] unfortunately SBF'd to GB..need some clarity on my next steps (moto noob)

So this is for my sister and I don't want to risk bricking her phone, but I'm not sure what my options are at this point. If you can take just a minute to help clarify what I should do at this point.
She was running a miui rom and some how or another got stuck in the loop of stock recovery and the battery with the question mark screen.. So after some research I saw I could boot in bootloader from stock recovery, then SBF and it would be fine.
I saw the warning on the SBF thread about not being able to downgrade if you used SBF to flash a Gingerbread rom, well I read that wrong and thought it meant if youre currently on a GB rom, you couldn't use SBF to downgrade. So i flashed the "4.5.3-109 Blur multilanguage" GB build and it works fine, but now I need to root it to flash a new rom and most require the Nordic (2.2) base and I can't use SBF to downgrade to it now..
Can I use this thread (http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/08/25/well-that-was-fast-one-click-droid-3-root-now-available/) to root GB, then install CWM, flashed a 2.2 rom, then SBF to Nordic?
Or do I need to follow these steps?

I'm very lost here and a huge Moto noob..any guidance would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks in advance
so...why didnt u post the first time before doing the stupid thing of flashing a full gb sbf ?
defy+ users are reporting that droid easy root works on theyr devices but u cant instal cm7 or miui on a gb base
u need to folow the downgrade tutorial if it works..i didn't tried it just coz i dont want to take any chances
ur solution for the boot loop would have been much simpler, either by wiping the phone in custom recovery
or wiping the phone in moto recovery, then flashing a new froyo sbf (any sbf except china one) and flash latest miui, then restore only data if she had a nandroid backup (i do 1 every week just to be shure)

At this point, it doesnt really matter, I made a mistake and this is where I'm at..I'm used to HTC devices and this is totally different.
I wasn't able to get into the custom recovery, I tried 20+ times and could not get into custom recovery, only stock. So i did wipe from there and flashed like the sbf. Like I said, I read the thread wrong, I thought it meant I couldnt sbf to Froyo since I was already on GB.
So should I try the 'easy root', then install CW, flash a froyo rom and then can I use SBF to go to Nordic?
Thanks for the reply..I appreciate any help..
I'm confused in the downgrade instructions where it says to flash the first build..How are you supposed to flash the build if its not rooted yet and its not a sbf file?
i know if you flash full GB sbf (is it full sbf?), then there is no chance for you to downgrade to froyo, you can only stay in GB (and above in the future)

That's a myth busted I have to say. You can install any AOSP rom from Gingerbread build. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287704
It depends if whether you want to flash MIUI then you can directly install it onto your GB, but if you want to go back to Froyo there's a really long and tiring process for that. Lemme know what's on your mind and I'll point you to it.

@civicvx94 shift happens man. Next time you should pay more attention to the warning messages. However you can go back and install Froyo on your sister's Defy, but you cannot do this just by flashing a FULL Froyo SBF. I think this post it's detailed enough and you'll be able to go back to Froyo if you follow those instructions. Then you can try to install 2nd init and put another ROM (like MIUI or CM7) and if you ever encounter any issues and you need to reinstall then you'll have to go again from base 0 (install the "special" eclair, root it, install recovery, install froyo nandroid and then the fixed sbf).

Care to explain the difference!?
And No, it works flawlessly I actually tried to replace the default bootmenu which led to the anomaly. Read the complete thread
before making "presumptions".

Thanks you guys so much for your help. This is one of the most helpful forums on xda..I have only owned HTC devices, and once you have a custom recovery installed switching between roms is no problem, so yeah I misread and messed up.
@ryan8r - I'm planning on going back to a MIUI or CM7 build, so that thread looks like it could be what I need..
@nepotu - thanks alot for that link, I believe that's the path I'm going to need to go, everything looks pretty straight forward there..
So you're saying that if I ever need to start over (once I have miui installed), instead of just being a sbf a Froyo build, I have to first sbf the special eclair build, root, 2nd init, then nandroid restore to Froyo, then use the fixed sbf to froyo?
Out of curiosity, is it possible to brick a Defy or can you normally sbf and save it? Just wondering in case I run into any issues..
Thanks again for the help
You welcome and yes if you screw up MIUI then you'll have to first flash that special Eclair (which has two partitions with code 5, same as leaked GB) and then follow the remaining steps. You cannot install Froyo via FULL SBF unless you have a special Froyo SBF with those two partitions upgraded to code 5. (Off course you can flash also the leaked GB)
You cannot build SBF files unless you have Moto digital signature. I assume that the special Eclair SBF is sort of zombie SBF, built from two ROMs (some partitions are from the leaked GB and some from Eclair). There is a tool (Moto depaker) that will allow you to "break" the SBF into CG files but you cannot change those partitions as it will change their checksum and therefore their digital signature won't be valid. Moreover you cannot flash a partition (CG) with a lower code than your Defy's partition.
Why don't you first install 2ndinit and try installing MIUI onto your current build. If that don't work you always have the chinese eclair at your disposal. I doubt if the CG partitions will cause problem with any AOSP rom.

Ok I think I have a lot better idea of whats going on now..
I'm about to start the process now, I think to be safe I think I'll go the longer route, and if I mess something up, then try to install miui on top of the GB build.
I'll report back with success/failure.
Thanks guys. wish me luck..ha
Well I went the longer route and have MIUI successfully installed on it, everything seems to be running great!
Thanks for all the help.

[Q] Skyrocket on Simple Mobile (tmobile) - Brain is fried

Alright, so i am having a bit of an issue. And it's probably because i'm a complete noob....
So, I have a new GS3, and wanted to give my (already rooted and flashed with Cyanogenmod 10) Skyrocket to my mom to use on Simple mobile (a company using T-mobile's towers).
I read that you can flash radios for T-mobile onto the phone, and so I figured everything would work.
Here is what I did.
I unlocked the phone while in Cyanogenmod10
Flashed LiquidSmooth RC9 - read it had less bugs
tried flashing multiple Tmobile Radios
I get NO service. I cant pick any of them up..
Baseband comes up as UNKNOWN...
So i'm currently downloading ODIN and going to try to flash to stock and just start from scratch...
Any suggestions on what to do?
Do you still have an imei?
Try unlocking the phone after you've gone back to stock. I don't know how you did it with cm10. I don't think it works with anything but stock.

No, the IMEI is blank when i do the *#06# code....
also, when i put the simple mobile sim in the phone, it automatically came up asking for the network unlock code. That's how i was able to unlock it.
Did you ever backup your imei? Flashing back to stock will hopefully bring it back if not you may have some issues. Also as mentioned above it's better to unlock from a stock ROM or at least stock based.
Alright, Flashed to stock, IMEI is back (thank god), and i'm getting service.
Now here are the issues ahead of me, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am on STOCK ATT ICS Rom.
I GET SERVICE (however, it's only 2g) i know i need to flash the radios for Tmobile,
Was going to use this ---> Blaze_4G_LB7_ICS_Radio_MOD ...... Direct DL, CAN BE USED FOR T-MOBILE/WIND ON ICS (from the skyrocket reference thread)
First i know i have to root, install CWM, all that.
Now, should i flash a custom rom? If so, which one would you suggest. ( i assume, i have to give her ICS, not JB, right?)
Also, you said backup my IMEI, i'll look this up in the meantime, but if you could include a link in your post on a how-to just in case i dont find it, i would really appreciate it.
Also, is there anything else i should do to get this working properly?
thank you very much for all your help.

Custom ROM is your choice. There are a lot of JB ROMS that are pretty stable. Also a new stock JB leak in the dev section. As far as backing up your imei. You'll need to root first as soon as you do get a file explorer and copy the whole EFS folder to your external SDcard. Then also copy it to your computer. The imei is held within the EFS folder. From now on do this as soon as you root BEFORE you flash anything. lol

Thank you very much! I'll start rooting now and back it up immediately. I would love to give her a JB rom, mainly for google now. However, that radio is for ICS. Is that going to cause a problem? or will it even work on JB?
I've been on JB for months using an ICS radio. I'm on ATT so I can't say for certain but it shouldn't be an issue. Just go to the DEV thread and spend a few hours reading up on what's available. Like I said most of the ROMs are pretty stable at this point.
FYI, on skyrocket the IMEI is stored in mmcblk0p18 and mmcblk0p19, not /efs partition. Might really want to back those up, especially before attempting a usb unlock. The /efs only really stores exports of certain properties from mmcblk0p18.

Thanks for the heads up. lol I thought for sure they'd be stored in the same place they where for my SGS4G. So what is stored in the imei folder in EFS then?
